Art of Images & Fonts

hi freinds,
i want a way to applay a font type to be used by all components of my application (button, frams, .....).
also i use a code to loade images & create Buffered Images which requires a commponent(window) object, but i want to loade image and create a buffered one without using a component object:-----------------------------------------------------------
image = toolkit.createImage("D:\\Image.gif");
MediaTracker tracker = new MediaTracker(<component>);
tracker.addImage(image, 0);
try {
tracker.waitForID(0);
if (tracker.isErrorAny()) {
System.out.println("Error loading image ");
} catch (Exception ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); }
bufferedImage = (BufferedImage) component.createImage(
image.getWidth(windowScreen),
image.getHeight(windowScreen));
if you know some resources, on the internet, about using images and fonts into my java application, please tell me.

the global font-setting, eehm, it is something with
UIManager.put( propertyname, propertysetting ).
someone else knows the correct command ? ;-)
tobiasyou are right i found the link:
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/qow/archive/17/index.html
it is an answer for the question:
How do I change a Swing font across my whole application?
and it explains all what i want.
thank you very much tobias
now friends, i hope find about the BufferedImages loading.

  • Include art board images in packaged Links folder

    Is there a way to include the images placed on the art board in the packaged Links folder? Meaning include all the images when packaging not just the ones in the document.
    Here's my weird workflow as well. Maybe someone could suggest a change that would improve the process.
    1- designers lay out editorial features not knowing if the images will land on color or B/W pages (dont ask — I wish I could change this).
    2- color images are placed in the layout but b/w versions are placed on the art board — directly left or right of the page containing the color version.
    3- features can sit for days until ready for pagination.
    4- production artists paginate the pages after ad-logs are complete.
    5- images in editorial content are swapped, when needed, to b/w — placing the original color images onto the art board.
    6- features are packaged for delivery to a web production team which copies and pastes the text and images into web templates.
    6a- If color images are swapped for b/w during print pagination and the article packaged they will not be available for the web production department.
    I have joined a stubborn team that I finally convinced to move from Quark 4... but they can not let go of this art board process. Any suggestions, comments or feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Just a thought.
    Increase the size of the sludge to include the images and see if they are taken when packaged then
    I believe tha answer to that is no, but Packaging DOES pick up anything that touches the bleed area. This mans defining a large bleed gives you a lot of space on the pastebaord that will potentially be included in the package, but it also means that using the bleed guides and document bleed settings in the print and export dialogs is no longer valid, a small inconvenience since you can easily add a new set of ruler guides for the bleed and define bleed dimensions in the dialogs.
    Or get REALLY sneaky and define the bleed as huge, then define the slug as the size you would use for the bleed. When you print or export, don't set a bleed, but include the slug area. The big downside to this is that the bleed area is included in the view when you fit spread or fit page in window.

  • X6 MP3 art tag image quality problem

    I'm willing to accept this could be an issue with my media software transferring the MP3s (MediaMonkey - an otherwise excellent application), so I'm asking this question on their forum too.
    I've recently synced a load of MP3 files from my main PC to my X6 Mass Storage via USB.
    For some reason, most of the albums have had the album art images reduced in size enormously so they look really blurred and ugly.
    Is this a known issue with the X6, or perhaps a problem with my media software?

    its a problem with the images you tagged. They should be at least 400x400 to show the way they do on psycho's picture.

  • Export keynotes to iCloud so that presentations retain their images/fonts?

    I am trying to use my Cloud to grab at presentations when I need them during lunch meetings, but the fonts and images become distorted. Is there a way to save the keynote and preserve the images?

    I was confused by this, too, when exporting to a Windows machinel.  I was getting a folder with the "filename.key.zip" structure. ??? Turns out that is essentially what a "KEY" file is.  Have you tried importing that file back into Keynote on your iPad?

  • Unwanted 'Resources' 'Art' 'Frames' 'Image' etc listed as Projects

    Hi,
    I'm running 10.9 Mavericks on a 2013 mac mini and have just downloaded Aperture 3.5.1 and have imported my previous iphoto library into Aperture.
    Everything seems to be fine. I can import new scanned images, adjust them and re-organise them. However, in the Projects list of the Library, I have (probably) hundreds of projects named 'Resources', 'Art', 'img' and so on, obviously supplied by Apple, but not wanted by me to be in my database. I can't delete them, nor find any way of hiding them. They just get in the way. I've looked back through a few pages of topics, but can't find this reported previously. Can anyone suggest a solution?
    thanks, julian

    Thanks for your reply Léonie (and for yours Kirby). Your question about dragging one application onto another does ring a bell, since I remember trying to drag Aperture from the Launcher to the Dock, adjacent to the iPhoto icon, and it failing to work. Perhaps I had dragged it ONTO iPhoto and not to the side. Still, it's very odd that an app should be able to affect another app in that way.
    Anyway, whatever the cause, I decided to sort it out by exporting all the good images from the now merged library, creating a new library, and importing them back in. This works a treat, and although it doesn't re-form my album collections, that was just an opportunity for organising the library into a more coherent ordering. All the spurious images, resources and stuff are left behind. In due course, the old library will be deleted.
    To answer your question about the method of 'importation', I didn't import the library explicitly. On starting Aperture for the first time I was asked if I wanted to use my existing iphoto library and said yes.
    Once again, thanks a lot. Your time is much appreciated.

  • Album Art, Small image displays, Large does not

    I have been adding album art to my tracks, and all looks good in iTunes, and they were syncing to my iPod with no problems...However, I noticed today, that when playing a track, the small album art appears fine....if I click the center of the click wheel twice, to get the "full screen" album art...I get a blank square! Any ideas???
    Perhaps my album art is too big? (I have been using 300x300, I thought this was appropriate).
    ipod G5   Windows XP

    Just happened to me. No large artwork, only small. I unchecked 'display artwork', 'apply' and then checked it again, 'apply'. I saw a hopeful sign that the iPod was "optimizing artwork". But that sequence quit with a -50 error.
    I have almost 80G of music stored on there from my collection. And Apple doesn't ALLOW you to transfer it over to your hard drive. This is my own purchased music. If I have to reset the whole thing, what do I do?

  • Best workflow for image (LOGO) from Illustrator to FCP?

    Greetings to all. I am struggling with this -- I want to bring my company logo into FCP 5.1.4, FROM Illustrator to FCP. Easy enough? Not for me.. as I have two issues:
    1. My imported image looks great in the viewer, but jaggies in the Canvas.
    I understand that for DV NTSC 48k, my frame size is 720x480 -- but in another post, I read that it is best to export as 720x540, .tif (another person said 720x540 jpeg, because jpeg embeds sRGB proile -- but that will be part of question #2) -- the square pixel vs. 4:3 pixel issue...
    My Illustrator image is all vector art, and all fonts are outlined before export. I am saving as high-res (300 dpi). I tried saving as tif, jpeg, pdf. I tried bringing the PDF into photoshop, and saving as a psd. I tried opening pdf. No matter what I tried, the image looked perfect in the viewer, but like doo in the canvas. A tif, file size 720x540, 300dpi looks correct in the viewer, but jaggie in the canvas.
    YES, the green "render" bar was visible in the timeline -- of course, that must be the problem -- but then I rendered the still clip, and there was no difference. I made sure the render indicator in the timeline was "dark grey" -- but yet, the imported still image from illustrator looks jaggie and not good enough for production in the canvas.
    WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE?
    2. Color space -- regardless of the jaggies issues, my imported still image from illustrator is all washed out when imported.
    Regardless of file type. Yes, file set to RGB. Yes, gamma set to 2.2 (also tried setting imported still gamma to defualt - "source" - no change)
    My LCD display (mac book pro C2D 17") is calibrated, using a Spyder2. Gamma is set to 2.2. My print output from illustrator (saved as pdf x-1/a) ALWAYS prints as expected.
    If I add a color correction filter, and juice up the saturation, I can try to make the still image look close, but this shouldn't be the case, YES?
    My expectation is that a still image in illustrator or photoshop should look the same in FCP.
    What kind of newbie error am I making? What am I missing?
    Thank in advance for any guidance.
    Jeremy

    I have been sending jobs to print (magazine ads, web, general print) for ages, and my printed materials come in as expected -- that is, within a few % points of my display -- which is what we are expecting -- and also EXTREMELY close to proof prints, using a reasonably high-end inkjet printer, with correct paper profiles... that is to say, that although I am no expert in color management by any means, I have what I need so that what I see on screen is very close to what is printed on a local printer, or a million dollar press.
    CAN I EXPECT to achieve anything close to this with video?
    When you print something on paper, you get to see exactly what it will look like and that's exactly how your customers will see it too. With video, there are infinite variables affecting this such as incorrectly calibrated displays; cheap TV components; the difference between CRTs, LCDs and computer displays; the size / resolution of the display, etc. There are so many variables that it will look different on every screen. All we can do as content producers is calibrate to a common standard, achieved through a properly-calibrated broadcast monitor.
    But if your film has a single use in mind, such as a trade show, it is better to ignore the above advice and use the display device it will end up on as the monitoring device, if you can.
    I am not near my FCP machine right now, so I can't try the test -- but I will try to revert my display color profile to stock apple LCD, and see what this brings. I know that FCP has simply NOT looked correct to me on my machine.
    What do the "big guns" who are using FCP and having to use pre-defined creative print elements, created in AI or Photoshop or whatever -- all color matched for print, what do you guys do when you need to integrate this into FCP?
    ARE FCP editors using Apple's 1.8 gamma (I guess you must because FCP uses it regardless of your colorsync profile, per the above article). ???
    I set it to Source and have had no problems because I create still images on the same machine with the default gamma of 1.8. I think what happened was you created the images in Photoshop with a colorsync profile of 2.2 on the monitor but perhaps a different profile embedded (if any). When you brought it into FCP, FCP automatically assumed it was created at a gamma of 1.8 and boosted to 2.2 but as the images was not created at 1.8, it was already very bright to begin with and so was boosted x2. That's my theory.

  • Help: Crappy font display in Acrobat 9, Windows 7 x64

    I have build a new Windows 7 x64 machine. Nice and fast.
    Unfortunately, Adobe Acrobat 9.2 is playing up. The fonts in a number of PDFs from different sources do not display correctly; the letters are far too thin and coarsely pixelated. The same files show up correctly on my Vista x64 machine with the same version of Adobe Acrobat.
    I wonder what this problem is and if there is anything I can do either in Acrobat or on the system side to get this straightened out
    I am enclosing two small files entitled Right.jpg and Wrong.jpg that illustrate nicely what I mean.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Per

    Go to Edit\Preference\General...
    Or you can just press ctrl + k.
    Click on Page display.
    Ensure "Smooth Text" is NOT set to "none". So if you have an LCD , set it to "For Laptop/LCD screens".
    Ensure that the other check boxes such as "smooth line art", "smooth images" are checked.
    You may want to experiement with "Use 2D graphics Accelleration". Turning on can speed up display but can cause some strange effects (such as curves being rendered as a series of short straight lines. Some things look better with it turned off.

  • Is Indesign suitable for creating a directory with anchored images?

    I have an ancient eight-page Quark document (originally created in 3.5, now in 8.5) that contains over 200 3cm adverts created in other applications called in as images anchored into text. This means that each month I can add or remove entries and the rest flows round in linked text boxes.
    It also means that Quark quits every few minutes and the job is now virtually impossible to complete.
    I am considering recreating the whole thing in Indesign but before I do, I would like to hear from anyone doing the same type of thing:
    How stable is Indesign for this type of job? How does it cope with over 200 images (pdfs, eps, tiffs, jpgs whatever) anchored as text? Is there a format for images that Indesign prefers to handle? I imagine it's pretty intensive to process as each advert also contains an image or two and fonts of its own. I'd rather keep the adverts as vector files as the text is so tiny – even though I know that resaving the lot in Photoshop would probably help no end (removing font problems, embedded images etc etc).
    Any suggestions, feedback etc gratefully received.
    thanks

    It shouldn't be a problem unless the Quark issue comes over to ID (something like a corrupt font). As long as you link and don't embed or paste the vector art; images, fonts, or complex drawing won't add to the screen redraw overhead because the preview is a JPEG proxy.

  • Fonts convert to greyscale from Publisher to Adobe 9.4.4

    Recent problem, started in just past few days.  Converting Publisher 2007 docs to Adobe Standard 9.4.4 - color fonts convert to greyscale.  Clip art, other images and borders stay in correct colors but fonts change to blacks and grays.  This occurs whether I'm using the "publish as pdf" or saving as a pdf functions.  No conversion problems from Word.  Have checked for updates, software is all up to date.  Doesn't matter which fonts I use.  Need suggestions, help, etc. fast as I'm in the middle of a project.  Thanks.

    How can I change (or select) what is being being used when I share, as the file cover. When I Share lets say "Master File" i want to select a frame that is used as the file cover. So when its on my desktop I see this image as the file icon.

    I don't think Finder does this (I've tried).
    iTunes does though. Where you can set artwork or the "poster frame"...
    This may not be what you want but if it helps, I know 2 ways  do this is
    Open the video in QuicktimePlayer7 | View | Set Poster Frame (even then, you might need to save it as .mov (ie in a 'mov container').
    Drag the file into iTunes and set the artwork (as in http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/adding-album-cover-art-or-images-in-itunes .html)
    From there, iTunes will use that frame as the "poster frame" ie the photo/frame that shows when you browse your videos. Which is what you want, but limited to iTunes.
    When I do either of these above, the frame I set does not show when exploring files in "Finder" (or in the other Explorer tool I use called "Pathfinder").
    So it maybe, that exactly what you want, is not possible.

  • "French Script" Font .  How do I get it on my new MacBook?

    I have just bought a new MacBook and had my data transferred from my old MAC where I had many folders in the French Script font. (These were older folders on OS9). These were transferred in another font. Before I purchase this font I want to make sure it doesn't exist somewhere on my new computer. Also any recommendations as to where to buy if necessary.
    Thanks.

    Hi Barb,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions and the AppleWorks forum.
    This forum is for discussion of tips, techniques and issues with the Apple productivity application AppleWorks, not for general discussions of how Apple's computers work.
    You'll likely be able to get a more definitive answer to your question in one of the other forums on the Apple Discussions site. My suggestions would be either the MacBook or the Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) forum.
    I looked for French Script on my iBook G4 and iMac G3, but didn't find any trace of that font. The font on your older machine may have been installed as part of the package coming with a particular application.
    French Script™ is a Monotype Imaging font. Their fonts.com site lists it for CAD $30 or $36, depending on version.

  • Errors in Export to PDF for web use - some images are lost when PDF is enlarged & in browser

    I have a multi-page PDF in InDesign CS6 that I want to export to view on the web. I need the file to stay under 2MB, and I need it to be crisp and nice enough to read the type on the page (as small as 9pt type).
    The errors that are occurring are the following:
    On some browsers, some images will entirely not show up. Some of the missing images have been pasted into the document, some placed. I cannot think of a correlation.
    When the PDF is enlarged (Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.10) to more than ~200%, there is one placed image that will mostly disappear. What I mean by "mostly" is that little bits of it are still visible, like I masked it carelessly or something. Since this is only occurring with one image it seems that it would be a problem with the image itself, yes? I'm all ears if I'm making a mistake. It is a placed .ai file with no link errors. Should I not be placing directly from illustrator? It renders wonderfully from 100% all the way up to 188%, and then if you enlarge by margins of 1% little bits of it disappear, almost a chunk at a time.
    The way I've been exporting is:
    File > Export > Adobe PDF (Print)
    Adobe PDF Preset: Smallest File Size
    Standard: None
    Compatinility: Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5)
    Options: Optimize for Fast Web View
    Export Layers: Visible & Printable Layers
    Compression
    I always change the downsampling from [100/150] to [150/225]. I usually leave the JPG image quality low. I leave both bottom boxes checked (compress text and line art, crop image data to frames)
    Output
    Color Conversion: convert to destination
    Destination: sRGB 1EC61966-2.1
    Profile Inclusion Policy: Include Destination Profile
    However, after reading a few other forum questions I started trying to export as Acrobat 4 so that it would flatten. When I do that, problem #2 still persists although I didn't test problem #1. I haven't tried using Distiller, and using the "prepare for web publishing" action within Acrobat itself makes the PDF too artifacted.
    At the heart of my question is this: I am a young designer at an old company that is not necessarily keeping up with the times. I REALLY want to know what the best, most efficient way to export a pdf for web viewing is. Does this exist in InDesign, outside of InDesign? Does it exist at all? Tell me what I'm doing wrong so that I can get better!
    Thank you in advance.

    Show Large Images is a preference inside of Acrobat which might be disabled.

  • Creating line art in photoshop

    Hi all,
    I have experimented with various tutorials and filters in photoshop hoping to replicate the clean smooth lines of the line art type image below (image based of a photo I presume).
    Does anyone know or can provide me with some tutorials on how to do such work.
    Any help would be great

    Probably done with the Trace function in a vector program.
    Similar results are possible but difficult with Photoshop.

  • Embedding image in PDF works fine in CS2 but not CS3

    When we create a PDF from CS3 with the images embedded and then open it on a CS2 machine it warns us about the fact that the file was created in a newer version of illustrator and then opens the file.
    When we try and open the file on a CS3 machine it tried to relink the files and will not display the embedded images (they must be there as they are there when opening it in CS2)
    Is there anything we can do to sort this?
    Thanks
    Danny Seager

    I don't have AI 13 (CS3), so I can only take a guess at this.
    >If we open that file in illustrator CS2 then we get a warning about the file being created in a later version but it opens fine and keeps the images embedded. - this works fine.
    AI 12 (CS2) opens the AI 13 file because it was saved as a PDF. Saving as a PDF always embeds images because PDF was intended primarily as a READ ONLY document format. You don't have to have the original fonts and linked images -- they're all there in the PDF.
    Try saving your AI 13 file as a native .ai
    without PDF compatibility. What happens when you try to open that in AI 12?
    I'm going to guess you saved your PDF out of AI 13 with Illustrator editing capabilities intact. That's of no use (or potentially troublesome) to AI 12, so it just uses the PDF portion of the file. AI 13, on the other hand, sees the editable AI portion of the file and elects to use that instead. (It assumes that because you saved with AI editing compatiblity, you'll want to avail yourself of those capabilities.) That means you'll have to have on your system all the original linked images, fonts, etc.
    Does that make sense?
    Try saving out your PDF without the AI editing option. What happens when you try to re-open that in AI 13?
    Why are you saving to PDF if your intent is to re-open the files in AI?
