Artix-7 user i/o pins damage

I'm facing problems with Artix-7. Our design has an ADC with CMOS (LVCMOS25) outputs interfacing with Artix-7 XC7A200T (FFG1156) through CMOS buffers. Our ADC is 16 bits, 130 MSPs connected to User I/O pins of the same bank. By some reason some of the user I/O pins of the FPGA that interfaces with digitized data pins of the ADC are damaged. We have produced 6 FPGA boards and all of them presented problems on the same pins. I have identified that:
- The clamping diodes of the damaged user I/O pins are working well (I have measured it)
- The FPGA configuration is correctly set for LVCMOS25 and pull-up
- Even when setting the input voltage as logic level "0" on the damaged user i/o pins, I always read logic level 1
- The power-up/down sequence for VCCO and VCCaux is ok and the voltage levels are well beyond 2.625 Volts during TVCCO2VCCAUX
- All the input voltages of the user i/o pins are well within the limit of 0 Volts and 2.5 Volts. Even in the case of driving the inputs with high voltages, peak voltages driven by CMOS buffers cannot provide enough current to damage the input buffer due to the fact that the clamping diodes will protect the i/o (remember I said that the damaged pins have clamping diodes working well)
- I have already set the damaged user I/O pins as input, output, pull-up, pull-down, different voltage levels, but they are not working and are always set to logic level "1".
Questions:
- Do you have a suggestion on what can cause damage to the user i/o pins considering that I have 16 identical LVCMOS25 inputs and 2 of them are by some reason being damaged?
- Can I have access to the internal user i/o pin electrical scheme?
- Can grounding problems damage user io pins?
- Has anyone reported similar problems?

r,
- Do you have a suggestion on what can cause damage to the user i/o pins considering that I have 16 identical LVCMOS25 inputs and 2 of them are by some reason being damaged?
My first guess is that it has been damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD) events.
As you state, the diode is still there, and it would be unlikely to fail from ESD.  But the ESD would blow out the gate of the transistors, and then could lead to a stuck at '1'.
What about the diode from ground?  The IO transistors have both a diode to Vcco, and a diode from ground as part of their intrinsic structure.
- Can I have access to the internal user i/o pin electrical scheme?
What are you asking for?  If you want to see the schematics, the answer is no, we do not shre that with anyone.  Have you checked the signal integritry of the IO?  Overshoot?  Undershoot?  There are absolute maximum values which need to be observed for both overshoot, and undershoot.
- Can grounding problems damage user io pins?
Absolutely.  Any voltage, or current which exceeds the absoulte maximum values in the datasheet may lead to damage.  As you have 6 of them, all the same, I would look at the abs max limits, and your signal integrity (although it is unlikely to cause a failure so quickly, but a missing ground that allows a cable's stored charge to discharge into the IO could easily blow out the IO).
- Has anyone reported similar problems?
ESD damage is the most common complaint we see here in the forums.  Generally, the IO are tough, and causing them to fail takes a lot of work (or a common fault like the ground of a cable is last to connect, instead of first to connect).

  • RDS Users unable to pin explorer to taskbar

    Hi,
I have a problem with pinning Windows Explorer to the taskbar in Windows Server 2012 R2 (also had this problem on 2012, before R2). Only users experience this issue, the administrator can pin explorer just fine.
For users the pin options just isn't there:
When I create a new shortcut to explorer in "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System Tools" I am able to pin this one. But using this pinned shotcut to open explorer creates a new item on the taskbar.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your comment.
Yeah, you can check the GPO setting as suggested by armin; whether it’s blocking the user to pin\unpin program to taskbar. Can you let us know the situation for that part? You can find the GPO setting on below mention path.
User configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar
In addition, please check below steps, might helpful in your case:
    1.  Log onto the RDS as a user and pin the items to the start bar that you would like all the users to get pinned when they log in.
    2.  Go the the following registry key and export it.
         HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband
    3.  Go to the following location and copy the shortcut files.
         C:\Users\(user-name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
    4.  Paste these items in the default user directory, if the directory doesn’t exist then create it.
        C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
    5.  Convert the .reg file to a .xml file for easy importation into Group Policy. I found this website to be a easy free option http://colonelpanic.zzl.org/reg2gpp/
    6.  Drag the .xml file into Group Policy and apply whatever settings are required. I set mine to apply once and set item level targeting so only certain users got certain shortcuts.
    7.  Log in with a fresh profile and you should now have the pinned applications you pinned in step 1.

    Hope it helps!

  • Mac Pro 5,1 mid 2010 motherboard memory module pins damaged

    Hi everyone,
This morning, after another computer crash I've decided to get rid of the dust inside of the tower.
When I put back the bottom, memory bodule I've noticed that it wasn't going in very smoothly - to realise that I've damanged some pins connecting the module to the motherboard (image attached).
I'm now trying to figure out what to do with it - is just the pin part replacable on the motherboard or do I have to replace the whole motherboard?
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

That is a remarkable amount of damage. Did you capture a foreign object between the connectors? Check the mating connector.
I have used a pen-knife (very small flat blade) or screwdriver to push similar pins back into position.
If you cannot straighten them enough, or if any pin breaks off, the backplane board (that holds that connector) would have to be replaced. A used backplane board should not be expensive, as there is not much failure-prone stuff on it, so they should be plentiful on the Used market. Note that the Processors are on the slide-out shelf -- do not order the processor board by mistake.

  • User-accessible memory...144-pin vs. 200-pin

    Hello Ladies and Gents,
I currently have only the factory installed 256 MB of memory. I want to improve my iMac's performance by increasing the amount of RAM. I have checked around the Apple website and boards. The following is an excerpt from Apple Support article 88298 (last updated 2/27/04).
+"This document explains what type and speed RAM is used in iMac (Flat Panel) computers.+
+iMac (Flat Panel) computers only work with PC133 SDRAM. The maximum installed RAM that can be used is 1 GB. RAM modules of 128 MB, 256 MB, and 512 MB sizes can be used in both slots.+
+There are two RAM slots in the iMac (Flat Panel) computers. They are:+
    +* A user-accessible 144-pin SO-DIMM slot.+
    +* An internal (factory-installed) 168-pin DIMM slot+
+The Apple System Profiler will show the two different types of slots and what amount of RAM is installed there.+
+The user-accessible slot requires PC133 speed RAM. PC100 RAM is not to be used with iMac (Flat Panel) computers and may create performance and reliability issues."+
Unless I've misunderstood, there have been some postings on the board that state otherwise. For example, the article says 1 GB is the max and to use a 144-pin module. However, there have been posts saying the max is 2 GB and that a 200-pin module can be used.
I would appreciate any guidance you might provide.
    Thank you!
    Shawn

    Hello Shawn,
The iMac G4 (USB2.0) 15" 1GHz uses PC2700 RAM. The maximum is 2GB (1GB 200pin SODIMM & 1GB 184pin DIMM). Your current 256MB will be installed in the 184pin DIMM slot. I recommend that you install a 1GB 200pin SODIMM in the user-accesible slot for a 1280MB total. IMHO it's not worth the cost or complexity to go any higher on this older Mac:

  • Access pin/password users CCM 6.0

    Hi,
I have some applications developed to CCM 4.3, and now I have to make them work with CCM 6.0.
My problem is that I need to access to the information pin/password of the users.
I have been study the Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0(1) Database Dictionary and Cisco Unified Communications Manager Developers Guide for Release 6.0(1).pdf. I can access the credential table in the database making an AXL request, but I don't know if this value “<CREDENTIALS>B1E093371D17A602638DFF87FF303F31DCBD9A5848BD9DB57424EB04F2537503</CREDENTIALS>” that is the pin or password. Is this with some kind of encryption?
The dictionary manual tells that “AXL and all applications access passwords and PINs only via IMS libraries”, where can I found information about it?
    Thank you
    Ana

doAuthenticateUser allows you to verify both pin and password (either or.. depending on the parameters you give).. but there's no way to read out the pin/password for us regular folks.. only cisco internal apps can do that.
using updateUser you can update a user's password/pin so basically you have everything you need except pin recovery. If you need to develop a pin recovery tool (eg. for a helpdesk), you'd just give them the ability to set a new pin (or password) for the user and be done with that.. it is after all the same procedure for an IT admin when you lose the password for your domain account or some IT service your company offers its employees.

  • Apply VCCO at 3.3V before VCCINT will damage the chip?

    Hi;
I saw in the datasheet of Artix-7, the right power sequence is VCCINT, VCCBRAM, VCCAUX,  VCCO. My question is if this sequence is violated, that is, if I supply VCCO before VCCINT and other powers, will the chip be damaged?

  • Sun PKCS#11 provider is caching PIN in applets

I am coding an applet which uses Sun PKCS#11 provider to encrypt data. But There I am getting a strange problem of PIN caching.
    My Scenario_
    1. User login: User enters correct pin and Password is encrypted and sent to server.
    2. After log off button click, Login screen is displayed again. Now user enters wrong PIN.
    3. STRANGE Behavior: The encryption works well with the wrong key.
    1. I have removed the provider and readded it again.
    2. Created KeyStore again,
But all this results in same problem.

The program is just to simulate the issue. I understand that user have to pass the pin. In our GUI we have our own dialog to get the pin from user and pass it to the PKCS#11 provider that uses the pin while loading the keystore.
cac.load(null, pin); // the pin passed in load method is not used at all
My problem here is even after the proper pin is supplied by the user the active client PIN dialog is prompted. Whereas in LInux JRE this works fine.
We have a command line application where active client dialog popup is not acceptable. We need to get the PIN from user as command argument and load the keystore.
Please let me know if this clarifies the confusion.
    Thanks,
    Ruhul

  • New Barlclaycard rewards going to be chip and pin?

So now that we know that the rewards card is going to be available with a chip I sent them a message to see when I can get it. This is part of their response:  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thank you for contacting us regarding your Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard. We can certainly address your concern regarding the new card on your account.
We are pleased to inform that your account is now eligible for the chip-enabled card and will be requested as soon as it becomes available for distribution. Note that this card has a new expiration date with same account number. Be reminded that you should provide the new expiration date to any merchant set up with recurring payments. Once mailed, please allow 7 to 10 business days to be received.
Upon receipt of the card, you may activate it by logging into your account online, contacting us by phone to speak with a representative, or using our automated phone system. Please be advised that activating your card online, you'll be prompted to create a PIN and thus won't need for you to know the assigned PIN to customize it. Activation of your PIN won't take effect until you use your card at a chip-card terminal with a cashier. Your first transaction with a chip-card terminal will activate the new PIN and you'll then be able to use the chip-and-PIN feature at self-service terminals. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does that sound like it's going to be chip and pin instead of chip and signature?

Chip and pin is completely different. The only ones doing it is Dinersclub. I think penfed. and a couple others. All cards have a pin. But it does not make it chip and pin. Its chip and Signature. Then back up will be pin. this is not the same. when you need a pin for every transaction like in europe.Edit so here in US> Even Diners in most cases will use signature. because no many retailers have Pin Terminal. They are still using magnetic strip on the back. But with true chip and pin. you put card in chip reader. and user must use pin. Most cards will default as secondary to chip and pin if no magnetic strip reader available. But as i said. This would still be Chip and Signature. Also Chip and Pin. you don't choose your own pin. The only way is to go to Atm and force it to change the assigned pin.

  • T520 - Win7 Ent - UEFI - GPO Enabled to allow Bitlocker enhanced pin, but windows refuses it

Before I start -- I'm not sure if this is a windows issue or a lenovo issue, but had to start somewhere.
I have installed our standard image of Windows 7 enterprise using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit on a new T520.  The drive is configured for and OS installed in UEFI mode.  Bitlocker is enabled automatically as part of my standard deployment task sequence, but with a numeric PIN.  We have a GPO in place that enables Bitlocker Enhanced PIN's, which can include alpha or symbol characters. Normally, after a deployment is complete, I go into control panel and change the bitlocker pin to a new pin which includes alpha, numeric, and symbol characters.  When I try to change the pin on this T520, it refuses, stating that it can only accept digits (numeric) 0-9.
I've run into that error before if a laptop had not been placed in the correct OU, or the GPO's hadn't been applied to it for some other reason, but as best as I can tell that is not the case here.  I've run a group policy results report from the DC, and one from a command prompt on the affected pc using gpresult, and both say the Bitlocker Enhanced Pin GPO is enabled and applied.
I have also just experienced this same issue on a Lenovo X220 Tablet.  We've only recently started seeing/using the UEFI mode on newer laptops, so up until now we've always installed windows in legacy BIOS mode.  As such, I decided to re-image the X220 forcing it to run in legacy bios mode.  After the re-install of windows, it accepted the enhanced bitlocker pin without issue.  I suspect if I reimage the T520 in legacy BIOS mode it will work as well, but have not yet tested this.  I was hoping to find a solution rather than simply working around the issue by not using UEFI.
I found the sections below in an article on technet regarding bitlocker with UEFI and enhanced pins, and what I understand from this is that it is fully supported by windows, but if the laptop doesn't support the full keyboard in the pre-boot environment, windows will refuse the enhanced pin and force a numeric only pin.
Is this a problem with the laptop/UEFI version? Or with Windows? Or am I maybe just doing something wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449438(WS.10).aspx
    PIN and enhanced PIN
For a higher level of security with the TPM, you can configure BitLocker with a personal identification number (PIN). The PIN is a user-created value that must be entered each time the computer starts or resumes from hibernation. The PIN can consist of 4 to 20 digits as specified by the Configure minimum PIN length for startup Group Policy setting and is stored internally as a 256-bit hash of the entered Unicode characters. This value is never displayed to the user. The PIN is used to provide another factor of authentication in conjunction with TPM authentication.
For an even higher level of security with the TPM, you can configure BitLocker to use enhanced PINs. Enhanced PINs are PINs that use the full keyboard character set in addition to the numeric set to allow for more possible PIN combinations and are between 4 and 20 characters in length. To use enhanced PINs, you must enable the Allow enhanced PINs for startup Group Policy setting before adding the PIN to the drive. By enabling this policy, all PINs created can utilize full keyboard characters.
NoteTo use enhanced PINs, your computer's BIOS must support using the full keyboard in the pre-boot environment. Users can run the optional system check during the BitLocker setup process to ensure the PIN can be entered correctly in the pre-boot environment. You should verify that the computers in your organization are compatible before making the use of enhanced PINs an organizational requirement.
When setting a BitLocker PIN by using the BitLocker setup wizard, the Manage-bde command-line tool, or through Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) remote administration, you can use the wide character set. However, system firmware, either BIOS or Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), may only support a standard EN-US keyboard and keymap during system startup. Additionally, BIOS-based systems are limited to 7-bit ASCII input during PIN entry. Thus, the use of either non-English characters or keys that differ in position from the EN-US keymap, such as QWERTZ and AZERTY keyboards, may cause boot-time PIN entry to fail. If your computer is affected by this limitation, it should be identified during the system check run by the BitLocker setup wizard. If it is not identified during the system check and the PIN is not able to be entered, you will need to supply the recovery key to unlock the drive.
We recommend that users set their keyboard layout to EN-US during enhanced PIN entry to avoid PIN entry failure in the pre-boot environment. If you are unable to enter an enhanced PIN from your keyboard even after setting the keyboard layout to EN-US, you must use a numeric-only PIN.
The following list identifies characters that are not currently supported by system firmware:
Roman characters on keyboards with a non-EN-US keymap. For example, "Z" and "Y" on German keyboards and "Q" and "A" on French keyboards.
Characters that are not available in 7-bit ASCII. For example, characters with umlauts, grave accents, and tildes.
Symbols that are not available in 7-bit ASCII. For example, squared superscript, fractions, copyright, trademark, and international currency symbols.
    <snip>
Yes. Starting with Windows Vista with SP1, BitLocker can be used with computers that use Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)-based system firmware.
Will BitLocker work on computers that use UEFI-based system firmware?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Very interesting!  I'm not sure if anyone has tried BitLocker with enhanced PIN on UEFI installation of Win7 64-bit.  Please give me a couple days to repro this and investigate.  Thanks for your patience.

  • Specify ID and PIN in extension mobility URL?

    Hi
I have a customer who is using extension mobility to allow users to log in/out of hunt groups. They would like to streamline the process by removing the need to enter the PIN each time. I'm wondering if it's possible to include the user id and pin in the service URL so they could make a separate IP service for each agent.
