As soon as I open Firefox, wheel infinitely spins until I force quit. What do I do? ??

As soon as I open Firefox and my homepage (Google) loads, the spinning wheel starts and never stops. I can't reset Firefox because the wheel starts before I can click Help. This has never happened before. I haven't updated or installed anything new that might interfere. Now I can't use Firefox. Safari works fine but all my stuff is in Firefox. Should I uninstall Firefox and reinstall it? Will I lose my bookmarks, passwords, etc?

You can try to launch Firefox via a terminal window and add about:blank to the command line after the path to the Firefox application.
You can also try to create a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder to override the current home page.

When downloading course materials from Moodle, why do new Firefox windows open repeatedly and indefinitely until I FORCE QUIT?

I use Moodle for my University courses. Moodle recommends using Firefox. Lately, when I download materials for my courses, Firefox begins to rapidly open new blank windows and will not stop until I Force Quit. I also am left with as many blank documents in my Downloads Folder as the amount of opened windows. Occasionally, when my required materials are successfully downloaded, the document will cause the aforementioned problem to begin again. I have removed Firefox and then reloaded and it is still occurring. I have attempted to use Safari and have not had the same problem. I would prefer to use Firefox but am reaching the limit of my patience and am about to say goodbye forever.

I cannot open Firefox at all... receive "Profile Missing" -- what next?

MAC desktop being used. When I click on my Firefox app it looks and looks then brings up a window: Profile Missing.
Obviously, I cannot do much without opening Firefox.
What do I do next?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

IPhoto stalls when I try to open a slideshow..can't even force quit

I began creating a slideshow in iphoto yesterday and during editing of a video clip within the slideshow, iphoto completely froze up & I let the color wheel spin for literally hours. I did a force quit and now every time I open iphoto and click on my slideshow title to open it, iphoto goes into stall mode...can't do anything...can't even use the menu to force-quit. Have to right click iphoto icon at bottom and force quit that way. What can I do to either delete the slideshow and start over, or open it to begin with?? I can't even seem to delete it. When I search for the slideshow by name, in finder, etc. it's non existent. I had just begun so I'm not bummed if I lost it or it wasn't saved to begin with, but it's just annoying to have iphoto stall on me over and over. Thanks for any ideas! I'm a new mac user so it's all greek to me!

After installing Mavericks, Firefox 31.0 locks up requiring Force Quit and computer restart.

Firefox 31.0 worked without any problems with current Mountain Lion OSX, but after loading Mavericks, it frequently locks up. I cannot change tabs or perform any function. If I am able to Quit, I can then not reopen when clicking on the icon. Only solution is to Force Quit. Even then, I sometimes have to restart the computer to get Firefox to open.

My iMovie doesn't work. When I open it nothing comes up so I force quit but then it closes, and a message comes up to send to apple. When I try to reopen it, it does the same thing!

Please hep me this is super aggrivating and I have no clue what to do!

Thank you for your question. It sounds like your iMovie window is not appearing when you open the program and force quitting it then reopening it does the same thing. I would recommend these staps in particluar to try from the following article:

1) Verify your software is up to date by running Software Update.
The updates necessary to resolve the issue are those relating to QuickTime, iLife, iMovie and Mac OS X. If any of these updates are available, install the updates. After you install the updates, run Software Update again to verify there are no more updates for that application available.
2) Disable non-essential QuickTime components.
Navigate to /Library/QuickTime/ for a list of components currently installed.
Temporarily disable any components that are not in the list below. You can disable the components by moving them to the Desktop or another folder outside of the /Library/QuickTime/ folder.
Open iMovie and see if the issue is resolved. If iMovie no longer unexpectedly quits, check to see if an updated component is available, or contact the developer of the component for further recommendations.
iMovie uses the following components, and should be left in the QuickTime folder:
AppleIntermediateCodec.component
AppleMPEG2Codec.component
Note: There may also be a similar folder at ~/Library/QuickTime/ depending on the components you have installed. If this folder is available on your Mac, remove any components as instructed in step 2. Both of these locations hold QuickTime components. The components help you encode or decode different types of multimedia content.
5) Run Apple Hardware Test and Disk Utility
If you are experiencing unexpected behavior in other applications, check your hardware by using Apple Hardware Test. You can also test your hard disks using the Verify and Repair functions of Disk Utility.

IPhoto freezes when i open the app, each time it is open on the same photo and when i try to swap to another photo it freezes until i force quit the app.

I have recently come back from a trip to Venice, i uploaded my photos to iPhoto to view and edit them, half way through the photos from day three of my trip it has frozen on a particular photo. I force quit the app and then re open it and it is still on the same image with the exact same problem. I am now unable to view any photos of my trip as they're all on iPhoto and i cannot access the albums because they are stuck on this one photo. I need to be able to access them by 11th March because i have a project due in about our trip and we need to include the best of our photos and at the moment i am being stopped from even looking at them. PLEASE HELP!

What version of iPhoto?
Assuming 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Lately, when I get the "Unresponsive Script" message, Neither the cancel nor the complete script button will work and Firefox hangs so I have to Force Quit Firefox. What is wrong?

Neither of the buttons will work "Stop Script" or "Continue" and since Firefox is frozen or just hanging, I have to Force Quit. Scan your computer in safe mode for bots, malware, trojan's and viruses. Remove any Found and reboot. If Problem still exists, go to control panel, add/remove programs remove firefox. and then download and reinstall firefox. Remember to always close as many running programs like messangers and widgetts when installing any program. This should fix your problem. only other option is to do a system restore to when you were not having any problems, this works 90% of time.

I have installed three different versions of Firefox and they all crash upon opening. I'm on a MacBook and the only thing I had installed on my toolbar was ChaCha Guide because I work for ChaCha.com.

Looks like a problem with plugin scanning.
