Asset master history indicator - what is it for ?

From the field documentation, it's mentioned :-
1) the asset is displayed in asset chart (which program / report is this?)
2) the asset and values/transactions belonging to it cannot be reorganized until the asset is deactivated - what does this mean? What does 'reorganized' mean?
Would appreciate if someone can explain the usefulness of this field.
Thanks.

Hi,
You may find the  following information when you press the F1 help:
Asset is managed historically
Set this indicator if you want the system to manage the asset with a
history. Active history management has the following effects:
o   The asset is displayed in an asset chart.
o   The asset and the values/transactions belonging to it cannot be
reorganized until the asset is deactivated.
So if you do not set the indicator, you can not manage the asset  with a history as the above information.
In addition,if the field is not modifiable, you may check the screen layout rule for the Asset class in OAOA.
As there is in the table ANKA-ANEQK no value '1' even like in  ANLA-ANEQK no value '1' the report is giving the correct message.

  • EQUIPMENT ASSIGNMENT TO ASSET MASTER RECORD

    Hi All:
I am trying to assign the Equipment Number in the Asset Master Record but am not able to do so. Is it even possible, has anyone had any success with the configurations and can share them with me?
I know that I can create the Equipment Number automatically when creating the Asset Master but what I need to do is to assign an existing Equipment Number to an existing or new Asset Master & the asset number will be reflected on the Equipment Master.
    Thanks and Regards
    Hisham

What is the problem now?  Aren't you able to assign the Equipment number in the Asset master data?
    What is the error message?
Well, just try this and see whether it works for you or not.

  • Asset master validation GGB0 and OACV

    Dear All,
I want to create a validation in Asset maser time-dependent tab to make sure the Responsible cost center of the WBS  element and Cost center of asset master  should match, if not, error should thrown. my problom is in logical field group 3(time dependent data) already there is validation in OACV, so system is not allowing me to create one more validation in the same area, when i try it is throwing error " an entry already exits with the same key ".. so i written my logic in the old validation which checks location, it is working fine. and some people are saying when it moves to production it will overwrite the original one. but we moved from dev client to quality, we did not find any problom, both the logics in one validation are working fine, what happens if move to production,.
is it overwrite the old validation.
cant we give two validation in the logical field group 3( time dependent tab.),, your inputs are highly appreciated.
    validation for asset master.- GGB0
per company code activation for asset master.- OACV

    Hi,
You should simply add additional step in your current validation, without creating a new one. So, in OACV the definition stays the same; only there will be a new step within your current validation.

  • How to import Fixed Asset Master File

    Hi all expert,
I used BAMasterDataImportFile to import the Fixed Asset. But the message as below appear :
"Import end;Number of successfully imported assets: 0;Number of processed assets:2"
After complete import the fixed asset master files still empty. May i know anybody can advise me for import fixed asset files?
    Thank for help.
    From:
    Eric Tan

    Hi Eric,
Please refer your error with the possible reasons below (from SAP notes):
Error message: "Import End; Number of imported assets:0; Number of processed asset:2"
Reason: Note that there is no error. It is usually because of the conflict of Depr. Start Date , Use Life and Remaining Life.
The following is a list of possible errors:
    1. Fixed Asset in Production Mode -- Make sure Fixed Asset is in Transfer mode before importing.
    2. The number of semicolons for each line is not 66 -- For each line, each field must be separated by a semicolon(, the number of separators( should be 66.  Number( = 66.
    3. Wrong Date Format DD-MM-YYYY or MM-DD-YYYY -- The correct date formats should be : YYYYMMDD, YYYY-MM-DD, YYYY.MM.DD or YYYY/MM/DD
    4. Asset Class unavailable -- The asset class in your csv file does not exist in Fixed Assets; make sure the used asset classes are defined in Fixed Assets before importing.
    5. Depr. Type unavailable -- The given depreciation type does not exist in Fixed Assets, make sure the used depreciation type is defined in Fixed Assets before importing.
    6. Depr. Area unavailable -- You entered data for a depreciation area that does not exist. If there are only 2 depreciation areas in Fixed Assets do not enter data for area 3 or 4.
    7. Depr. Area is inactive for asset class  -- You entered data in the csv file for an area that is not active for the given class in Fixed Assets.
    8. Life parameter is negative or the remaining life is greater than planned life -- All life parameters should be positive, the remaining life should be less than the planned life
Life Parameters(Depr. Start Date, Useful Life and Remaining Life) are mathematically incorrect for one of the areas in csv. Remaining life = Useful life - (the difference between the first date of import year and depreciation start date). Note that it is not the difference between import date(the date you import Fixed Asset Master Data) and depreciation start date. You must calculate the remaining life correctly. For example, you want to import an asset in 2005, you import it on 2005-09-01 ,then the first date of the import year is 2005-01-01, Depr. Start Date = 2003-06-01, Useful Life = 60 months, then
          Remaining Life = 60 - (2005-01-01 - 2003-06-01) = 60 - 19 = 41 months.
          The following calculation is wrong:
          Remaining Life = 60 - (2005-09-01 - 2003-06-01) = 60 - 27 = 33 months
Import Fixed Asset for the current fiscal year -- The fixed asset master data import function is designed for legacy data importing. We recommend you to import fixed asset master in the past years. If you insist on importing an asset for the current fiscal year, make sure the depreciation start date is the first date of current fiscal year and the Remaining Life is the same as the Useful Life.
Year Values -- the sum of the accumulated depreciation (planned, unplanned and special depreciation) in the csv file is greater than the acquistion and production costs.
Also, don't forget to change the fixed asset mode to transfer. Administration>System initialization>Company Details> Basic initialization tab.
    Hope this helps.

  • Flow of Data to Asset Master Record

    Hi,
I created a Asset Master record. In 'Origin' Tab in asset master record, there is a space for writing Vendor NAme, MAnufacturer, Acquisition Year, Original Value, etc.
After i create Purchase Order or acquire asset through F-92, i noticed that vendor name, value, etc does not flow to the Asset Master Record.
Please let me now how the data will flow to asset master record ?
    Am i missing any entry

    Dear Deepak,
please check the Tcode AW01N , this for asset explorer.
In this screen if you select Purchase Order in Object related to Asset tab from the left side of the screen , you will get all vendor details for particular asset.

  • WBS assignement in Asset Master & postings Impact on business processes??

    Hi all,
We have the option in asset master record to give the WBS element, so whenever we procure an asset we will procure it to a project so we planned to give wbs in asset master record.
we even calculate dep for the project. and we will transfer asset from one project to another.
by considering above all if we assign wbs in asset and procure it to project and calculate dep. does it leads to any other implications. we tested the above cycle its working fine, but we are unable to vizualise other impacts.
so somebody please guide us to goahead with this opttion.
    thanks & regards,
    shashi kanth.

    Hi,
Typical use of this is to do a statistical posting to the WBS and a "real" posting to the asset.  It is a nice feature, as you can tell and report on your origins of assets by WBS.
    Good luck!

  • Asset master remove in list

    Dear Experts,
Can you tell me , i posted one asset with 5 years dep , now that dep is completed it comes to zero value . but it shows in s_alr_87012041 list view here it shows asset name and values in zero .
is it possible to remeove that asset name and the total line in TC  s_alr_87012041
    Thanks
    B

    Hi,
As long as that asset is not transfered nor retired, system will show that asset in asset reports.
Or else you can enter Deactivation Date manually in the asset master by changing the field status for that field, then that asset will not shown in the asset balances report.
    Thanks,

  • Cost Center Change in Asset master

    Hi Gurus
I have one problem of Asset master change
If I change cost center in asset master after depriciation run (same period for which dep. posting has been done) now make rerun of depreciation posting.
at that time has new depreciation posting done for new cost center or remain as it is ???
    Exact scenario is like this
    1) Depreciation posting was complated for period 1/2007
    2) now change cost center which effective date is 1/1/2007 in asset master
    3) now rerun of depreciation posting
The depreciation posting with new cost center does not created
Please reply me as soon as possible
    Thanks in advance
    Paresh Jivani

    Hi Jivani,
The when you have already executed depreciation run for the assets, system will not allow the re-run that as it affect FI posting.
In your case, you case distreibute your depreciation cost to new cost center and next month run will take care if you have changed the cost center.

    Hi,
    Asset is managed historically
Set this indicator if you want the system to manage the asset with a history. Active history management has the following effects:

  • Best practice for "Quantity" field in Asset Master

    Hi
I want to know what is the best practice for "Quantity field" in asset master. It should be made displayed only or required field in Asset Master creation.
Initially I made this field as required entry. So user entered 1 quantity. At the time of posting F-90, he again entered quantity. So my quantity in asset master got increased. Hence i decided to make that field display only in asset master creation.
Now i made that field as display only in asset master creation. At the time of posting F-90, that quantity field is not coming only. I check my field status group for posting key as well as GL account. Its optional field. Inspite of that user is able to make entry in F-90. Now quantity field is '0' only in asset master even though there is some value in asset.
Please help what is the best practice wrt quantity field. Should be open in asset master or it should be display only.

    Hi:
SAP Standard does not recommend you to update quantity field in asset master data.  Just leave the Qty Field Blank , just mention the Unit of Measure as EA. While you post acquisition through F-90 or MIGO this field will get updated in Asset master data automatically. Hope this will help you.

  • Using the same Asset Master Record for similar assets

    Dear all,
I would like to ask if it is possible to use the same asset master record for multiple assets which are similar. The assets will be posted in different periods / fiscal years and therefore the depreciation would change and be charged according to the useful life of the individual assets posted to the same master record and which in turn will vary according to periods / fiscal year posted.
For example, an asset master record is created for Vehicles. The 1st vehicle with a useful life of 4 years is depreciated at the start of the year for 4 years. The second vehicle is purchased on 6 months after on the 1st June using the same asset master record. However the depreciation is not worked out over the same useful life of the previous vehicle but is extended for a further 6 periods. Is this possible and how is it done.
Many thanks for any feedback and help.
    Thanks
    PRG

    Dear Peter
What is the issue in case you created separate Asset Master for each Vehcile ? Is there any specific need for you to accommodate all the assets in one single asset master ?
I don't think it is correct method as per Company's Act. Over and above, how would you plan for the Fixed Assets Register in the given situation ?
