AT&T doesn't honor their Gigapower Flyer advertisement

So, I received a flyer for upgrading my service to U-Verse with AT&T Gigapower for $120/month. I called the service department and am told that I'm not able to receive that price because I'm a current customer.  Which would make sense EXCEPT that the flyer had my AT&T ID number on it and it specifically discusses changing my current AT&T plan to the Gigapower one. And the service agreement online and in the flyer do not discuss any disqualifiers about being a current member.  When I pointed this out to the representative I was told, I don't know why they say that...oh well.    I guess AT&T doesn't want my business.

AT&T is a big company and often the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.  It can be especially bad as AT&T contracts out some functions to other companies.

  • Verizon gives the runaround – Doesn't honor agreed upon price.

    I would like to tell everyone about three problems I am having with FiOS.
    Problem 1:
    Just after Christmas I tried to order FiOS service online, but I had issues with the website (Verizon connections page – I get a discount through my employer). So after several calls to customer service, I finally spoke to Miss B (I don’t want to post her name on the forum) on 1/17/12 who stated that she could help me.  I explained to her that I had trouble ordering online and she stated that she could help.  She stated that the current phone price was 94.99 for all three, but she verified that the connections web price was 84.99 before the connections discount so she spoke to her supervisor and got permission to extend the web price for the phone order.  So I again confirmed that the agreed upon rate was 84.99 per month for the triple play before my connections $10 discount.  Miss B. stated that she would have to go into my account after the install date and add the necessary discounts to bring the price to what was agreed.  She then stated that she would call me after I received my first bill to verify things were correct and that if I had any questions that I could call customer service and they could leave her a message to call me.  So I completed my order with her.  At the end of the order I again confirmed the price of 84.99 + 15 + 3.5 (services+boxes+unlisted) for a total price of 103.49 before tax. 
                    So needless to say that my first bill came and the price is not even close.    I called customer service on 2/15/12 and spoke to Kelly and she said that there is nothing that she could do to help.  After a few minutes she offered to reduce my bill by $10 for one year.  The problem is that I am on a two year contract and that the discount offered doesn’t match what I signed up for.  So I asked for her manager.  She stated that Miss H (name withheld) was not available and that she would call me back within 24-48 hours.   I still have yet to receive a call back.
    Problem 2:
    Verizon connections: I am entitled to a $10 employee discount through my employer.  Back in December I filled out the form on the Verizon connections website to receive my 12 digit code.  The problem is that these codes are only valid for 72 hours which I didn’t know at the time.  So in January I filled out the form again to obtain another code so I could place my order.  Unfortunately I never received an email back.  I even tried the verify employment without a work email (uploaded copy of my work id).  Again I received no email back.  So I called the help number on the Connections site which passed me off to another person, and then another, and so on.  After several hours and over a dozen people that stated they couldn’t help I tried the chat help.  After a lengthy chat session, Marie stated that she would hand this off to her manager and that he would call me within 24-48 hours.  After not receiving a call back I chatted again and the rep apologized and stated that he would follow up with the manager and assured me that someone would call me back.  Approx 1 hours later, Deena from Verizon emailed me the 12 digit code for me to add the discount.  One week later, Michael emailed me stating that Verizon had an email server problem and apologized for the inconvenience.  So After three weeks and several hours on the phone I finally received my connections discount.  What a PAIN!!!
    Problem 3:
    My Install…..On the day of installation, the tech spent approx. 3 hours at my house installing the service.  The problem was that he left before all of the boxes completed their programming.  One of my HD boxes kept rebooting so I called the 800 number and spent 45 minutes on the phone with them to tell me that I had a defective box.  So I returned the box to the Verizon store for a new one.  The rep at the store was surprised that the tech installed the old silver HD boxes at my house.  So I returned home and installed the new Motorola box which worked.  Approx 1 hour later the other two silver HD boxes started to reboot whenever I streamed something from the Multiroom DVR to them.  Again I returned to the Verizon store for two new Motorola Boxes.  So I had to make two trips to the Verizon store in the first 24 hours of my new service.
                    Two weeks later I receive my first bill and I was surprised to notice that I was being charge for two additional outlets which the rep that took my order never informed me of.  So I get to pay for two additional outlets when the tech never even verified that the boxes work.
    So in the end Verizon doesn’t honor what they tell you.  I'm almost at the end of my  initial 30 days before my two year contract takes effect so I’ll post an update and let everyone know if I am still a FiOS customer.

    Here's an update. I filled out the online form that Anthony from Verizon requested that I do so that a rep could follow up with me. Well it's been four days since I've completed the online form and I have yet to receive any communication from verizon. This is the third time someone has said a supervisor would call me and nothing.

  • What options do I have if Best Buy doesn't honor what they sold you . . .

    This is my first time ever to post, but I am at wits end and hoping for help from the community. I have been trying to resolve this issue for 6 months. Here's my situation.
    My daugher is on her grandparents Verizon plan. Let's name her line B. I am autherized to purchase on the account. My daugher's phone was lost and she needed another one for security reasons. I called around to the Best Buys that we'd be near while travling and found one close by with the phone she wanted. The representative was excellent. Very very helpful and went the extra mile. He told me all about the edge program and how we were only going to pay an extra $10 a month for 2 years because we'd receive a $25 monthly credit. Then after 2 years we could surender the phone just pay taxes and upgrade the phone. The Best Buy representive called for apporval to make sure he could use a upgrade from line A for my daughter line B and still receive the edge. So he double checked to make sure everything would be seemless. This occured Oct 24, 2014. After the first bill it was all but seemless!!
    So in November I went to Best Buy, they sent me to Verizon, I went to Verizon, they sent me to Best Buy, Best Buy sent me to another Verizon and spoke to a supervisor. I was shown the error in Best Buys transaction. Best Buy upgraded line A to the edge but since there was no smartphone attached to line A, we did not recieve the $25 credit. Verizon sent me back to Best Buy and said Best Buy need to honor what they sold me. I went back to Best Buy close to my home. That Best Buy told me only the Best Buy I bought it from could help me. I had to call them because they are 5 hours and 6 minutes from my home. It took a few more calls before I spoke the mobile manager and he was going to investigate. Then it was the holidays and he didn't get back to me. I completely understood,. I called he and he said he hadn't forgotten me. Finally in December he told me he met with Ashley the Verison's Best Buy representive. According to him a Best Buy mobile supervision they would going to credit the account $50 for Novemeber and December. After that point we'd see the $25 edge credit. He said he'd forward me the email. I never recieved the email. I drove the 5 hours and 6 minutes to the store and he was off that day, but left a message for him to call me and please forward the email. No phone call, no forward email. So I called again, he was on vacation and wouldn't be in until after his vacation mid January. I was hopeful, but no credit on the bill in Jan 2105. I spoke to him again after his vacation and he promised to forward the email from Verison. Now it is Feb, still nothing, no email, no credit, no follow-up. I drive back there and had to speak the a store Manger, because the mobile manager has now been promoted to another area and he is off that day. The manager assures me the promoted moblie manager will contact me. But he doesn't. I call the store manger and he has the promoted mobile manager call finally me. The promoted mobile manager asks me for a copy of the bill. Fine, I get it to him. I'll have to fax it or mail it, but I would get it to him. Then the bill comes in with a $50 credit!!! Yay, I think they have it resolved, nope. April bill comes in no $25 edge credit. 
    I call the new mobile manager, poor soul, he doesn't know the situation. He took my information and meet with Ashley from Verizon. He calls me back, wow, he calls me back!!! I am so thankful. Then he starts talking about Best Buy in the third person! He doesn't know what "they" told me. When I bought the phone "they" put it on line A, then "they" transferred it to line B.  He's referring to his Best Buy representative in the third person. Talking about me buying the phone's contract for $600 plus dollars. I started to see red. So I ended oiur conversation to collect myself and called him back. Poor buy! Next conversation he explains that I need to put a smart phone on line A. I can buy a new one, use an old one, whatever, but line A needs a verison smart phone on it. He doesn't know why the promoted mobile manager didn't tell me this before. But since he didn't I'm out at least $150 that no one is willing to refund me. If I give line A the iPhone from line B, I won't have a phone for line B, unless I have one or buy a new one. He was kind enough to agree this was no fault of my own, but that of the Best Buy representive sold me the first time and the promoted mobile manager for not communicating the situation. So this is Best Buy's solution - grandpa who never wants more than his ancient flip phone has to get my daughers iPhone, my daugher get no phone or I have to buy one, and I'm out at least $150 (or more depending on how long this takes to resolve). I didn't even ask but I am sure the iPhone at some point must be surendered. The store manager is aware of the situation and he will call me tomorrow, or will he????
    So, do I just accept that they made a mistake, they can't honor their deal because it is a contract with Verison and I have to pay for it? I feel helpless and frustrated. We're under contract for another 2 years.

    It can be difficult to keep track of all of your belongings while traveling, and it is discouraging to hear your daughter may have lost her phone during travel. While things certainly seemed to have gone awry, I’m glad to hear that your initial experience purchasing a new phone for your daughter was pleasant.
    When our customers come to us for phone purchases, they should trust that we are able to communicate with their carrier’s systems to process a phone purchase seamlessly. It certainly seems that we may have missed something during your upgrade, causing you to miss out on the billing credit and that you’ve put forth a valiant effort to try to find a resolution to this issue.
    As I am sadly not equipped to personally take a closer look into this issue, could you please share with me the store location and any first names of managers you have been working with regarding these concerns? With the store location and manager names, I would be delighted to reach out to the store’s leadership to better research this experience to see what options we may have for you.

  • [Solved]Curl and Libcurl doesn't honor http(s)_proxy

    Like the title says I have the problem that curl and libcurl doesn't honor http(s)_proxy if used with pacman, I tried to add http(s):// to my proxy but no change.
    Has anyone an idea?
    EDIT: solved I had to use  sudo -E as my proxy isn't set through /etc/profile (proxy is not static).

    Yes I added http_proxy and others to it after I found it in the web after I wrote this thread.

  • Select which users doesn't logged their work yesterday on MS Project 2013

    We use MS Project 2013 to control people work report.
    I wanna make a SQL query that will catch all users that doesn't set their work yesterday on WebProject App.
    My intention on that is to alert them by e-mail about this.
    If the user doesn't logged his work for three or more days consecutive, his coordinator must be alerted too.
    Is there any configuration property on MS Project to do this ?

  • If the user doesn't have their email address defined

    Hi,
    If some users doesn't have their email address in fnd_user table, then will the work notification goto the user? What should i do to make sure that the workflow doesn't throw an error in such a situation and still send a notification to that user?

    Hi,
    Email is completely optional, so Workflow won't throw an error if there is no email address found.
    In order to receive an email, you need the following:
    - Workflow user / role to be notified must have an email address set.
    - Workflow user / role to be notified must have a preference set to receive email.
    - Workflow mailer must be running for that particular item type, or a generic mailer needs to be running.
    Without all of those, you won't see any emails - but you won't see any errors, either :)

  • Buyer Beware: Insurance may not be worth it. Verizon doesn't honor loyalty. I report, you decide.

    Asurion Insurance may not be worth it, and Verizon doesn't stand by it's loyal customers. 
    I've had a Motorola Droid (Original) for 2 years, and my contract just ended this month (March 2012).  My Droid's screen no longer accepts my touches.  After several reboots, battery removals, resets etc, the phone still won't recognized screen touches.  The Verizon rep at the store didn't know how to deal with it either.  "Sorry dude." was the reply.
    We went over options of getting a new phone like the iPhone 4s or Droid Maxx etc, or doing an insurance claim. (I'm waiting a few months to see if the iPhone 5 is going to be worth another 2 year stretch). I was informed by the rep in the store and a rep on the phone that I would have to pay a deductible of $89 if I wanted to go that route.  So here's where I have an issue.  If I've had a phone for two years that by this time is obsolete, no longer sold and the model is worth a fraction of its original value, and if I've paid 6.99/mo for 24 months ($167.76), does it make sense for me to pay an additional $89.00 (= total of $256.76) deductible for a rehab'd old Droid?  Which is what was explained to me I may get.  "We have no control over the phone you receive". (new or refurbished)  So for me it's definitely not woth it.
    I tried explaining this to the Verizon rep in the store and on the phone and they weren't sympathetic or possessed business savvy enough (or had the permission).  I was referred to Asurion, (as expected) and the Asurion rep jumped the price of the deductible up to $99.00.  The Verizon phone rep, and the Asurion phone rep both repeated to me several times "according to the contract that YOU agreed on, we will charge you $89.00/$99.00..."  The Verizon rep dumped me off on Asurion saying it's their insurance contract so I'd have to deal with them, since I didn't want to pay the deductible. The Asurion rep was just as "pass the buck" with "it's a contract you agreed to with Verizon not us," mentality.   Right away I called back to Verizon to get rid of my $6.99 insurance and they deleted it off my account. 
    Even when I informed them that I'm no longer under contract (I was even nice about it) and can go anywhere else the reply was "that's your decision."  Too bad for Verizon that they don't stand by their customers. Too bad for Verizon wireless their attitude is "if you want to leave, don't let the door hit you on the way out." I can tell this was something the reps are trained to say and say it often; their responses were automatic, sounded rehearsed and robotic. 
    I've been with Verizon for over 4 years (at least) so this attitude is a bit of stab in the back.  It's not good Verizon chose not to honor loyalty and stick by a customer who has completed at least two contracts.  Good news is, in this competitive environment, I can go anywhere for a phone, and service. 
    I can understand if you just bought a phone that's normally $500.00 retail (no contract) and it went bad.  Paying an $89-$99 insurance deductible is possibly reasonable depending on the circumstances, but not in my situation nor in other loyal customer situations in similar situation. 
    My take on it is;  find out about the manufacturer's warranty on a phone first before buying a phone.  The amount you'd pay for monthly insurance and deductible costs may not be worth it.  You may be better off having the manufacturer replace the phone, or just buying a new phone anyway.  Again...depending on your circumstances. 
    Good news is, I'm no longer under contract and looking around.  My girlfriend is with Sprint and they've replaced two defective phones with NO CHARGE at all.  Looks like I'll be looking at Sprint's website after this. 

    It amazes me how people can either sign up for something and not read/learn about it, or just assume that the terms will be ignored if they file a claim.
    If I have a $500 deductible on my car and get in an accident, I will be paying that $500 deductible if my car is 1 month old or 10 yrs old. NO DIFFERENCE and my Honda dealership is not going to intervene with my insurance agent to see if "something can be done"!!!!!!!!

  • 3 week old Galaxy s5 is shot...Verizon won't honor their transaction.

    I upgraded to this phone on my birthday.  It took hours to get the upgrade done in the store, which was frustrating.  Now, three weeks later, all of a sudden my screen with go white with multi-colored pixels, then go blank.  I called and they had me hard start it, then run it in safe mode, at which point they told me it was one of my apps causing the problem.  I lived with it for a few days, then decided to start off-loading apps to identify which one it might be.  Unfortunately, I started having the problem constantly, even in safe mode.  hard starting the phone doesn't work, so now they've decided they sold me faulty equipment.  However, due to their policy, because it's more than fourteen days since I got the phone, they will only replace it with a used one.  I paid these guys nearly $300 for this phone which, over the twenty five days I've had it means it's costing me the annual equivalent of over $4,000.  This company should be ashamed of itself.  The words customer and service are obviously not ones that they've ever thought to use in a sentence together.  If I had broken the phone, I'd pay the insurance premium, call myself an idiot and move on.  This problem occurred through no fault of my own, but Verizon has neither the honor nor the sense of common decency to do the right thing.  In fact, despite the hours, and hours, and hours, I've spent on the phone with them (customer for quite a few years and probably spend over $4,000 on my phone bill) they have done NOTHING whatsoever to try and make amends for the problem they caused.  Beware.

    The warranty is via Samsung.  Vzw has an agreement with the manufacturer so that they can provide with equipment without having to wait 10 days to get your phone back if you send it in. I haven't had any trouble with my replacement device so go ahead and do it and be more productive with your time.

  • Exporting voice memos from iphone doesn't retain their names

    Hi,
    I'm using an iphone 4 on Vista running the latest itunes (newest update, the whole firmware, itunes etc just updated right before I decided to post this).
    I'm trying to save voice memo files from my iphone to my computer, but although they save and play back okay, they have been assigned a bunch of numbers (taken from the recording date and time perhaps) instead of keeping the name I gave them on the phone itself. There are far too many of them to drag off one at a time and rename manually.
    So how can I save them all in one go whilst retaining the names I gave them on the iphone?
    I've previously managed this - when I initially got the phone and started saving memos I once dragged and dropped a load of them from my iphone through itunes and they did retain their original names, but after trying numerous times since I cannot see how, although it must be possible?

    You can transfer voice memos from iPhone to Mac by emailing:
    Open the voice memo app and select the recording you want to transfer, then tap on the Share icon in the left corner under the Play button. Now you have the option to send it as a Mail.
    Choose Mail then fill in the relevant details and hit send. This is fine for the occasional memo, but if you have several that you want to do at once - or have long recordings whose files sizes are not inbox friendly - then the best solution is to use iPhone Transfer for Mac.

  • Printing PDF from IE9 doesn't honor printer settings

    I am trying to print a PDF from IE 9 and have it honor my printer settings (which are to store to my mailbox on our Canon iR3035 rather than print out).  It used to work fine.  I found the following bug listed in the release notes for Adobe Reader 10.1 however it clearly says the fix is to update IE which clearly isn't fixing the problem.  If I disable protected mode then it works but that isn't what we should have to do for this to work.
    Windows 7 Pro 32 and 64 bit
    Adobe PDF Reader 10.1.1.33 and 10.1.2.45
    Internet Explorer 8 and 9
    "Internet Explorer: With Internet Explorer running in protected mode, the user's printer settings are not honored, and the manufacturer's or deployer's defaults are used. This behavior occurs for IE7/IE8 with Acrobat/Reader 9.x or IE7 with Acrobat/Reader 10.x. The workaround is to disable Internet Explorer protected mode, or upgrade to IE8. [2874948]"
    Anyone know of another workaround other than turning protected mode off??

    Hi Sonal,
    Thank you for continuing to try to track this down.  The snapshot you show is exactly what we want the behavior to be however it's not what is happening on our systems here.  I'm not sure what else I can provide to try to help reproduce the problem however it is the same on multiple systems.  Here is some more info (I apologize in advance for the number of snapshots but I hope they will lend useful info!).  Please let me know what else I can provide that would help!  These snapshots are from my system which is 64-bit (32-bit systems exhibit the same symptoms).

  • Verizon not honoring their online price quote

    I renewed my FIOS account on 6/9/14 (while processing a move to a new address) and the online quote was for $124.99/month.
    Now the reps are telling me that the online quote included discounts that expired that day (the day my current agreement ended).  The printed order that I placed shows two $5 discounts "for 24 months", and one $10 disount "for 24 months", and a $10 discount for the verizons connection program.
    The same amount is shown for the first month, and for months 2 and 3, as all installation charges were waived.  It also shows a $15.99 increase for months 4-12, and another $15.99 increase for 13-24 as discounts for the Ultimate Premium Completer credits expire.
    I have spoken to customer service thre times, first women would not let me speak, and keep speaking over me and finally hung up on me.  Second rep said she has seens this problem before, and it is a SW bug that includes current credits with new credits.  Spoke to her supervisor who said nothing could be done.  They did not offer any method of me proving I had a printed order showing an extra $30/month discount)  I offered email, faxing, or even driving to a local office to have THEM send it.  All offers were refused.
    My issue is that I entered into a contract based on the only pricing information I had available at the time (their online ordering system.)  The order confirmation email (which I didn't pay particular attening to, as I had the printed confirmation from the web site.)   To me, this is like ordering an item from Amazon, based on the price shown on a website, and then billing my creditcard an extra $720.00.  I did not agree to the price shown in the email, I would have gone with another cable/sattelite carrier had I known of the higher price.  I also purchased 3 TiVo Romios (at $399 each) which I cannot use now with sattelite.
    This order was a nightmare from the get go. You cannot order cablecards from the web anymore (yes, they used to have the ability, but I guess their set box rentals are more profitable).  So I needed to call after the order was placed to remove the set box, and add the cabe cards.
    Then they kept sending me emails from the "Credit Verification Center" to "Complete my order".  I called the number no less than three times (after three different emails), an no one there knew of any problems nor could they cross reference the number given in the email.
    I was sent an email (1 minute after placing the order) that I should have ordered a battery from the ONT, but I knew the house I was moving to already had a battery, and it was not needed.
    After I move, the provisioning was wrong for the phone service, no service the first day.  Then I receive a set box (which should have been canceled), and I have to drive that to the Local Verizon FIOS store to return.  THen, a few days later a Battrey shows up.  Luckily they let me keep the battery, and remove it's charge from my bill.
    How much can one company screw up?
    I simply can't believe that Comcast has worse customer service.

    Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
    Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • Time machine doesn't honor exclusion list for initial backup

    Hi all,
    Have a MacBook Pro with Max OS X v 10.6.7 and 1 TB Time Capsule, where around 500 GB are already used for some files. For the initial Time Machine Backup I want to exclude my home directory, because it is quite large (around another 500 GB). Time Machine estimates around 32 GB for the Backup. I click on Backup Now and a couple of hours later I see still activity and has already backuped some 100s of Data including my home until it reaches the full space of the Time Capsule and crashes.
    So my question is why does Time Machine does not honor my exclusion list, especially for the inital backup ?

    Hi, downloaded also the Combo, which seems not be entitled for my MacBook Pro, which is a brandnew one with thunderbolt.
    as this german description will tell not that much, these are the both files I tried

    still no success ... Anyway as I have installed the OS from scratch with the 2 CDs two weeks ago without any issues I still wonder, what could cause  the problem ... I mean, if in the property files the exception would not be there, I would think there is an issue ... but that's not the case.

  • InDesign CS5.5 doesn't honor original Language (for spelling)

    I'm using InDesign CS5.5 and always import .DOC and .RTF files. The default language in the "character" tab is Spanish. So is the default paragraph style. However, most of the times I import these files they are placed with English, Estonian, Croatian, etc., etc., etc. I have to change it almost in 90% of the files I place. And if I place the same file more than one time, it get placed with different languages every time. I've cheked the original .DOC and RTF files and are in Spanish dictionary.
    Is that a bug? Am I doing something wrong?

    InDesign CS55 / Windows XP

    I also override all styles when applying. The only thing, so far, that doesn't work is the language.
    I placed that file into CS5.5 and it comes in with English in the Normal style. The Normal style in Word is also defined as English. Something is very wrong, here. You can define the language in the InDesign paragraph style, so if you clear the overrides then it must-by-definition have the language you specified. You say it's not, so something is wrong with either your INDD files or your install of InDesign. I don't see any of the funky language-redefinition behavior when I place your Word file into ID. The Normal style declares it to be English - I clear overrides and the text gets marked with English.
    If this happens to you in a new InDesign file, I'd say that you should try replacing your preferences, reinstalling, that kind of thing. If you are working with templates or re-using INDDs, you may try exporting to IDML and re-opening in CS5.5.

    You cannot save to Dropbox from Pages natively, but there is a workaround that allows you to use the Copy to WebDAV to get things to Dropbox:

    As to the "Send to iTunes" command "not playing ball", if you'll post specifics, perhaps someone can help you sort that out. It should be pretty straightforward.
