what nvidia drivers are you using here? need 53.04 or later for MCE support
does any video play, Live TV, DVD, other video? make sure you have a compatible MPEG2/DVD decoder installed (PowerDVD 6+, WinDVD 6+, Nvidia PureVideo Decoder etc)

  • Bootcamp and Media Center 2005

I have a full version of media center intended for any pc and whenever i try to install it on my macbook pro via leopard, the entire install process will go through, but after install i boot to windows and i get a disk error. Any ideas. I was able to install this exact same OS via the bootcamp beta, and even after the upgrade to leopard, the MCE 2005 os worked. But after i did a comlete os install of leopard, i can no longer use leopards boot camp to install this os successfully. Any ideas, or where can i get a old copy of bootcamp beta?

I just installed Windows w/Media Center 2005 on my iMac core2duo 2GHz 2GB ram with Leopard two nights ago. I received the same issue on my first install attempt. Boot camp creates a Fat32 partition, so I used the convert to NTFS when I installed Media Center. I thought it worked until the restart. I had to reformat the partition NTFS and install again. This time with no problems.

  • [Athlon64] MSI K8T Neo2-FIR motherboards

Hi there Friends in this Forum.
Have MSI solving all kind of problems they had before with their socket 939 Motherboards?
And witch socket 939 motherboard is the best one in this moment?
“Sorry for my bad English and my bad spelling”
This is a great and helpful  Forum for MSI user!

    Mr. Freddy,
Another great board from MSI designed to use the Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64 Processor
is the K8N Diamond's brother: The K8N SLI Platinum (Also MS-7100 Ver. 1.0)
    K8N SLI Platinum
Either way, you can't go wrong with any of those two mainboards.
They're almost the same product, but in the case of the K8N SLI Platinum there are some little differences:
    1) Four SATA connectors instead of the six SATA connectors you'll find in the K8N Diamond.
    2) One Gigabit LAN RJ-45 connector, instead of the two Gigabit LAN RJ-45 connectors in the K8N Diamond.
    3) Finally, you'll find a Passive MOS in the K8N SLI Platinum, instead of the Active MOS you'll find in the K8N Diamond.
Everything else, is exactly the same thing. They even have the same model number: MS-7100.
    They're both excellent MSI products.
    Sincerely,

  • MSI K8T Neo2-FIR w/ AMD Athlon64 3000 (Venice)

I am looking at purchasing the MSI K8T Neo2-FIR with the AMD Athlon64 3000 (Venice). However, it appears that many have issues with this. I found a link to a MSI german forum that had a beta version of the newest bios but I have a few questions.
Would a german version work if i am living in canada (toronto)?
How can the bios be flashed if it doesnt recognize the cpu?
When will the new bios be released?

The Venice core will be supported by the K8T neo2 shortly, I'm convinced about that, since Asus (I'm sorry to mention them) are supporting it already, with the same bios.
Even ECS published Venice-ready BIOS updates...

Since BIOS V3.3 Speedfan (V 4.20) is not able to reduce the rpm of the CPU-Fan (of course connected to CFAN1). Before flashing BIOS 3.2, it worked well (CPU < 40°C = Fan spins with 60%). After flashing BIOS 3.3 (because it resolves the problem with USB legacy and WindowsXP), Speedfan (and Corecenter) do not reduce die fan power. If i stay a while in the BIOS, i can hear, how the fan runs lower and lower. But under windows the fan runs on full power.
    I have this problem too.
I don't have ability to change speed fan for CPU, and then I have 60 degrees on full load.
When I setup in CoreCenter utility to user mode and fan to high speed, as if by miracle on cpu fan speed change from 1600 to 2400,
but now it's on 1600 again and setup in core center dont't make any change on speed fan.
Is it OK in bios 3.2 ? with setup speed on cpu ?

  • MSI K8T Neo2 failures

    Hi,
I have bought an MSI K8T Neo2 motherboard a few weeks ago. It had stability problems from the beginning and there was one particular issue: Core Center was using 100% CPU when started, and its GUI would not appear. First I checked the memory modules, and one of the was indeed faulty. However, after replacing it, the stability problems continued. So I took the motherboard to the vendor, and it was found to be faulty by them and replaced. The new motherboard worked fine initially (Core Center was running properly and no stability problems), but after a day or so I experienced a crash and when trying, Core Center was again using 100% CPU and no GUI. So I suspect the motherboard has failed again. However, I find it a bit unlikely (though not impossible) that I would have two faulty motherboards in a row, so probably another component causes the motherboard to fail.
Based on the behaviour I described, what part of the motherboard may have failed? What other component may cause such a failure? What can I check to find the real reason for the failures? Can you recommend some diagnostics tool that can help finding the reasons for this kind of problems?
It should be noted, that I have performed no overclocking. The CPU is an Athlon64 3000+, the memory modules (2x512 MB) are Samsung DDR400. Another K8T Neo2 motherboard with CPU and memory of the same type and brand and from the same vendors works flawlessly. The other components in my machine are older and have worked reliably for at least months but in same cases years with another, older motherboard. I am using a 300Wt PSU, which may be low, but even if this is low, could it actually corrupt the motherboard permanently?
Another symptom: under Linux I use CPU frequency scaling, so that most of the time the CPU runs at 1GHz, and goes to 1.8GHz only when, e.g., compiling something. I noticed with the first mobo and then with the replacement after the first crash that it sometimes fails to set the frequency and then it wanders around 900MHz (betwen 800 and 1000 MHz, i.e. in quie a big range). It may be a problem with the Linux driver, though.
    Thanks,
    István

When a PSU's efficiency is too low, it can not deliver the demanded output. Higher temps make efficiency drop significantly. When a PSU can't deliver the demanded output, chances are it can not keep the voltages (3,3v / 5v / 12v) within safety margins. When a component is overvolted/undervolted for a longer period of time, it will be damaged.
Most of the time, your board will be damaged first. It delivers power mainly to the cpu, so the faulty board could damage the cpu due to overvolting it...
Look out for an Enermax or OCZ with 30+ amps on all rails, for example an Enermax Noisetaker 475W (double 12v rail) or an Enermax 465W (single 12v rail). Both have efficiency in the 75-80% range at all levels of output demand. It doesn't get any better than that. Those things are pricy, but so is the rest of your rig, so you don't want to damage your stuff any further.

  • MSI K8T Neo2 F 939 pin, any known video or other driver issues?

Using a MSI K8T Neo2 F, AMD 64 3500+ winchestor, 1gb DDR400 3200 memory, New WD 740GD SATA HDD, ATI 9800 GT Pro 256 videocard. Fresh XP Pro SP2 install with all the update, latest Via 4 in 1s.
Seems like my problems began when I upgraded video drivers to either Cat 4.9s or 5.1s (ATI Radeon 9800 GT Pro 256) in order to get Doom3 running as it wouldn't run on the v 3.4 drivers that came on the cd-rom with the videocard.
HL2 would play fine with those old drivers. After upgrading to newer drivers, HL2 and Doom 3 (which now at least plays) won't play for more than 5 minutes yet other games will. The same videocard (perhaps 3 months old now) with cat 4.9 drivers ran perfectly in my old system so I know the videocard's still OK.
I can use a restore point prior to installing the newer drivers BUT that doesn't solve the problem as to why I can't use the newer drivers.
I've heard where some have problems with XP SP2 vs SP1. Anyone here have opinions on that?
I have spare HDDs so I can use one with another fresh XP install, even try just SP1 if that'd matter? Doing that would eliminate hardware as being an issue.
It's now not just games either, it'll crash doing Turbotax and other (not demanding) times when not gaming. Games put alot of demand on any system.
Have also tryed another PSU, now an Antec Truepower 430W vs a cheaper brand 550W. Not heat related as I've tryed this with a house fan blowing on high directly at the mobo, cpu side (cover's off).
I've been trying to solve this for about a month now and it's very annoying.
I ran Memtest for 8 hours last night, no errors so the memory's OK. I'm now running another test program called Prime95 via advice from someone at Anandtech.com. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=32&threadid=1513208
If ANYONE here has seen anything like this relating to this motherboard (which I suspect might be a problem?), please share your thoughts.
                   Thanks

Can you explain where I'll find "VPU recover (adapter settings)"? In display settings or ATIs cat. control center, guessing? I'm at work now but will check that soon.
      AGP fast-write has been off.
As for going back to older video drivers, it did seem OK with the old Cat. v3.4 drivers that came on the videocards driver cd-rom and played HL2 fine with those drivers HOWEVER, Doom3 doesn't run with those older drivers and needs the newer drivers to function.
When it crashes, the screen usually goes to black (not BSOD). Sometimes it'll just freeze with skipping sound for a few seconds before going black, sometimes it'll reboot but usually I just reboot it. Can't 3 finger solute to task manager or Esc out of it either.

  • MSI K8T Neo2 FIR, need help installing drivers

    Hi there,
I need help with installing drivers. Here’s my setup:
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    Mainbord: MSI K8T Neo2 FIR (VIA K8T800Pro)
OS:  Windows XP Professional, SP2 installed
    ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
I updated per MSI Live Monitor, but when I run ‘dxdiag’, I says I have to update the ‘VIA standard host bridge’. I don’t know what this is or where it can be found. It could be I saved the updated drivers in the wrong file (F:\ Program Files\...) where F is my primary harddisk and the drivers should be saved in F:\Windows\ System 32.
Also, my hardware setup tells me there are two videocards 'installed': a Radeon 9600  Pro and a radeon 9600 Pro (secundary). Do I need to de-install the secundary one?
Here’s a piece of my most recent dxdiag:

Help would be very much appriciated, thnx!

The two vis.cards issue is normal, it sees the primary output (VGA) as a device and the TV-out a separate device.
Go to device manager to see if there's any device on ur rig that doesn't have drivers.
Did u install the 4-in1 drivers, get the latest version from the MSI support site.
    good luck.

  • Low DVD and Media Center TV Vol

I am having a volume problem with DVD movies and Media Center, particularly TV. Sound quality and volume in other applications is great, but if I try to watch TV or a DVD at the same settings I can barely hear the audio.
I have a new Dell XPS 400, running Windows XP Media Center 2005. I have an Audigy 2 ZS soundcard and Dell 5250 5. surround speakers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you should also look through the TV@nywhere forum, applies to all MSI TV Tuners
i think the first thing you should do is update your TV tuner drivers...

  • S3 sleep state issue (MSI K8T Neo2 FIR)

    Hi,
CPU load is too high (about 80-95%) all the time after the system waked up from S3 sleep state. This is dramatically decreasing system performance.
    My configuration is:
    MSI K8T Neo2 FIR mainboard
    CPU Athlon64 3000+ (Venice rev. E6)
    AGP GeForce 6600GT VGA card
    Creative SB Live! series
    WinXP SP2

    Wild-Robot,
The following link was suggested to me, since I wondered if my problems might have needed a bios update.  The board I have is a 754, thouugh, not a 959, so I would have been suspicious of using this update, anyway.  Then Tiresmoke mentioned that the new update addresses a sleep state (S3) issue.  Might that help your situation?  I would n't know, but it may be worth a look:
MSI Germany published Version 9.3 for K8T Neo2-F(IR):
    http://www.msi-computer.de/produkte/main_idx_view.php?Prod_id=402&Seite=BIOS
That Version cannot yet be found at MST TW or MSI USA.

    Tiresmoke then mentions:
    Well Babblefish translation tells me that this;
Behebt Probleme mit der CPU Auslastung nach dem aufwachen aus dem Standby Modus (S3)
    is saying this;
Problems with the CPU extent of utilization repairs after that wakes up from the Standby mode (S3)
So nasically is has something to do with the S3 standby mode issues. As I do not use any standby mode I have not seen any issues. If you have had any then you may want to give it a try but they don't say they fixed anything else so if you are like me and not having any issues you may want to give this one a pass.
    Hope that helps.

  • MSI K8T Neo2 - Sound only at one side.

    Hey guys,
I just got my PC upgraded, when i got it back from the PC Store i reinstalled everything and such.
    Now here's the problem.
I have to plug my headphones in the front side of my PC, now when plugging my Headphones in, i only get sound from one side, trying other drivers didn't succeed. Any suggestions?
    Setup:
    MSI K8T Neo2
    AMD Athlon64 3200+
    Kingston 2x 512 MB - Dual Channel
    2x Maxtor 120 GB
    ATi Radeon X800 Pro
    X-Gear Xyclops 400Watt Case
Hope to have it fixed, can't game without proper sound
    Regards,
    ExO,

Problem fixed, had to remove the connecters for the front side and had to place two jumpers(written in the manual).
But does anyone know why the quality is so poor?
I didn't have this on my old motherboard(also AC97) but there the quality was beter
    Oh well,

  • MSI K8T Neo2 F vs. MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR

    Hi there !
I have an amd Athlon XP 3200+ overheating problem, and contacted the technical support of the shop where the processor and CPU was coming from.
Since they do not have any XP 3200+ to replace mine, they propose me to replace fro free :
    - the XP 3200+ by an AMD Athlon 64 3200+
    - my actual MSI K7N2 delta ILSR by an MSI K8T Neo2 F
    ... and this for free.
Since I do not know this new motherboard that has been proposed, I'd like to have advice on if this is a good deal ?!?
    My actual system has :
    - an Aluminium case with 2x 12cm FAN's
    - 2 IDE hard drives
    - 1 SATA hard drive
    - TWINX Corsair XMS 2x256MB PC 3200L (Extreme low latency)
    - an AGP 8x video card
    - An Antec True Power 480W.
will the new motherboard fit with this configuration?
Many thanks for your input !

Not really, unless you really want to oc your cpu. The K8T boards aren't that good in OC-ing. But still, some is possible and you'll be sure that the board is as steady as a rock.
For a moment I thought you were talking about a Neo board ... but I just saw it's a Neo2. That means Socket 939 -> dual channel RAM.
The only risk you have now, is that your RAM won't work in dual channel with the CPU. But that's not really a board-problem, more a CPU/RAM-controller related problem. But then, it's still a great offer and chances are good that it will work. If you run into any trouble, RAM-related, just flash bios to version 1.9 and you will probably be just fine.

The following instructions about  the "Code Purple" error FAILED. Error is still present.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
***PLAIN ENGLISH QUICK AND EASY FIX FOR ALL SYSTEMS****
***Windows 7 code purple or Windows Vista code purple***
With the code purple error on the screen, press shift+f10 (the shift key and the F10  key (at the top of the keyboard) at the same time) to open a little screen called a  command prompt. (So, you get a little black screen with white text that says something  about your Windows verison first and a little ways down you'll see "C:\>".   It's all  ready for you to start typing.)
Type the following line, just as you see it here...
    notepad C:\hp\bin\checkdmi\checkdmi.cmd

You will see the text for the file listed in a window using a simple text editor.

  • Acrobat 9 Products with Windows XP Media Center 2005

    Hello,
I'm wondering if any users are running Acrobat 9 Standard or Pro on Windows XP Media Center 2005. I'm currently annotating pdfs for a client but was leery of purchasing Standard or Pro because Media Center is not mentioned under the System Requirements for these products (only Windows XP Home, Professional, and Tablet PC editions are listed). So I had my client enable the pdfs for annotation and then send them to me. I began annotating them in Acrobat Reader 9. This worked for less than a day, and then when I reopened the documents, I received a message saying "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available." The Comment & Markup toolbar and the Comments option under Documents have disappeared, and I can no longer make changes to the documents.
Do other users have issues with Standard, Pro, or Reader operating on Media Center? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It will work on either of those operating systems.
