Attribute Change Run in Process Chain

I'm making a process chain purely for attributes. Every time I add an infopackage for attributes I get prompted to make an attribute change run. Do I need an attribute change after every attribute infopackage or can I just have one at the end?

Hi,
You can have one attribute change run at the end of the process chain for all the attribute loads.
Cheers,
Malli.

  • What is Attribute change run in process chain

    Hi Everyone,
Can anyone please give some information regarding "Attribute Change Run" in process chain. And how it is useful ?

    Hi Aditya,
You need to schedule an attribute change run when you change master data attributes or hierarchies that are used as navigational attributes or in aggregates. There is a simple test to check if you need an aggregate change run. Load your attributes and look into the master data table (directly via SE16). If you only have entries with OBJVERS = 'A' (active) then you don't need a change run. If you have entries with OBJVERS = 'I' then you need to schedule a change run after upload.

  • Problem in Activating Hierarchy Attribute change run through process chain.

    Hi All,
I have the problem in Hierarchy change run processw running through process chain..and also process chain completes successfully without any error..
Even hierarchy change run  completes successfully the hierarchy objects are not activating,
so daily when i have to activate hierarchy objects manually..
and what i did was in one attributechange run process i have included 10 hierarchy object is it correct or else i have to separatly create 10 attribute change hierachy proceess in the process chain.. pls through some lights on this issue
    With regards,
    Hari

    Hi venkat,
Yes.. i already include the save hierarchies process in process chain...
my main problem is hierarchy infobject are not activating  using process chain and also even process chain is not giving error message.. and in which log table the hierarchy objects are maintained (such as run time, date , status etc..).
IS there is any other settings to be made in process chain..
    with regards,

  • Regarding attribute change runs in process chains

    Hi All,
While creating process chain for master data objects. I am trying to incorporate attribute change run process type for an info object. But the system asks for the DTP of the attribute and when i choose the DTP then both DTP and then Attribute are being incorporated. This is not exactly a problem but i need to understand why it is happening as i am already using that DTP to load data. Will this affect the data in master data object?. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Bhagyarekha,
The reason behind that error could be:
An attempt is made to activate a characteristic whose compounding was replaced and whose navigation attributes were simultaneously deleted. The replacement of the compounding temporarily deletes the M view of the characteristic during internal activation. The process of deleting navigation attributes involves converting the attribute SID tables. However, the M-view of the characteristic, which has just been deleted, is needed for this conversion.
    Check this SAP Note:
Note 684405 - Replacing the compounding and deleting navigation attr.
    Hope it helps.

  • Attribute Change Run in Process Chain Texts?

    Dear Colleagues!
A simlple question: Do you have an Attributes change run in the end of a Process Chain only containing text? (Master Data text) Or i s it sufficient to have it after attributes?
    Regards
    Silje

    Hi,
Attribute chage run is meant only for Attr/Hierarchies.
No need to include it for texts.
For the texts changes were automatically reflected with out change run.

  • How to run change run in process chain when it fails

    HI All,
How to run  attribute change run in process chain when it fails. Give me the procedure with clear description. Is there is any difference with 3.x versions in running this.
    Thanks,
    Pratap Reddy

    Hi Pratap.
If BI Accelerator is not being implemented by ur company, in that case if change run fails u'll proceed by 'Repeat' process option as usual we do in 3.x.
If BIA is exists, in this scenario u can not repeat as we do in 3.x. U have to drop the indexes on cubes effecting that change run and run the change runs. Once it is finished recreate BIA Indexes on cubes.

  • Attr change run in Process chain!

    Hi,
For uploading Master data, we do have different process chains ( Eight to Nine ) for each client and for each source system!
Now the requireement is such that there must be only two Two process chains one for daily uploads and another for weekly uploads!
i coule create a Meta chain which shall be calling all the daily upload Process chains in series!
But what about the attribute change runs?
i had actually included this Attr change run process for each client comibing the other process chains ( Attr, Texts and Hierarchy )
Now since the modelling has been changed for the daily and weekly process chains, i am puzzled about the attribute change run processes!
Because we have lot of infoobjects which are existing in both the clients
    Any ideas?
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
You can solve your problem in 2 ways :
1.Include Attr.change run in each of your local PC or,
2.In your Meta chain ..arrange your Local Chains in parallel
& have a single Attr.change process...here you can select your object type as Infoobject & include all your Infoobjects... one after another... for which you want to run the Attr.change.

  • Attribute Change Run in Procee chain.

I am trying to create a process chain for loading employee master data. I have three datasources populating this data.
So in the process chain I have to add the Change Run process type only after loading data from all datasources right ?
what is the process type  'Attribute Change Run' useful for anyway ?

You are correct. If the loads to the employee Master Data Attributes are done serially, then you can end it with the 'Attribute Change Run' variant. If the loads to the employee Master Data Attributes are done in parallel, then you can have all three InfoPackages flow into an 'AND' variant and then have the 'Attribute Change Run' variant.
The 'Attribute Change Run' in effect activates the Master Data Attributes, much like the activation process of activation of a DSO. The way it does it technically behind the scenes, however, is different.

  • Change Run in Process Chains

I am running process chains early morning.  I one process chain I am carry out an attribute change run on 0MAT_PLANT and on the other on different InfoObjects.  Can these run at the same time or if they do can they cause a lock?  Thanks

Funny... My reply would have been "no", as in our system parallel activation always creates lock situations. We do all our attribute change runs in serial.
    Check out note 903886:
<i>(2)You cannot execute several change runs in parallel (do not confuse this with the 'parallel processing' described in Note 534630). For more information, see Note 825927.</i>

  • Process chain best practice - attribute change runs

When building attribute change runs into Process Chains I see that there are potentially two main options to consider:
    1. One to One mapping.  Incorporate a separate attribute change run object type after each InfoObject has been loaded.
    2. Many to One mapping.  Build the process chain so that one single attribute change run occurs after all the InfoObjects have been loaded.
I would be interested to see how other people have incorporated their attribute loading into Process Chains.
    any info appreciated.
    Mike

We run the attribute change run twice in our daily process chain, here's our order:
    - Load all master data
    - Attrib change run
    - Load all tx data
    - Run ABAP programs that generate master data
    - Attrib change run
I doubt there will be much of a performance difference if you do the change run after each master data load, but it makes the process chain a lot easier to read.

  • Hi i have 50 infoobjects as part of my aggregates and in that 10 infoobjects have received changes in masterdata.so in my process chain the Attribute change run in running for a long time.can i kill the job and repeat the same.

Hi i have 50 infoobjects as part of my aggregates and in that 10 infoobjects have received changes in masterdata.so in my process chain the Attribute change run in running for a long time.can i kill the job and repeat the same.

    Hi,
I believe this would be your Prod system, so don't just cancel it but look at the job log. If it is still processing then don't kill it and wait for the change run to complete but if you can see that nothing is happening and it is stuck for a long time then you can go ahead and cancel it.
But please be sure, as these kind of jobs can create problems if you cancel them in the middle of a job.

  • ABAP program to add in the process chain before the attribute change run

    Hi
I need a ABAP program to add in the process chain before the attribute change run(process) to avoid the locks, can any one send me the program
    Regards,
    Satish

I am not sure of any standard program .... but you can write your own... should be a small one..
you can check if the table RSDMDENQ has entry for your InfoObject... if yes, then its locked.. if not.. its not locked

  • Error in process chain with attribute change runs

We have one warning is coming in one process chain :A type "Attribute Change Run" process cannot precede process "Execute InfoPackage"
We checked the Process View , we found that there are number of attribute change run after each scheduling of Info package with different datasource but for same data target.
How to remove this warning .
Some onsite person has added this extra Attribute Change Run recently.

    Hi Surendra,
If it is the same Info-object that is getting loaded through different Info-packages then have only 1 "Attribute Change Run" process at the end. You can ignore the warning.
