Can u please explain the <b>usage of attributes in batch management</b> with an example

Attributes are nothing but characteristics defined for those batches. We can create characteristics based on Expiry date, or colour of material, quality of material etc. This helps up to do batch determination. We can pick up material that are nearer to expire from storage location based on the batch determination. Similarly we can pick up material based on whatever characters that we define. M-N mappings with attributes or batch fetch

There is one very common design case of M-N relationship with attributes.
Difference is that M-N is implemented by another persistent class with bunch
of attributes rather then by internal O/R mapper means.
For example we have
a Member who can be assigned to an OrgUnit (M-N) but assignment should carry
additional info Role, Date of assignment etc.
Member----Position----OrgUnit
In absence of specialized mapping for this case (TopLink, ObjectFrontier and
some other O/R frameworks have it) it is common practise to use two 1-N
Member----Position + OrgUnit----Position
The problem is performance of course - getting all positions for a
particular Member is fast (one SQL statement) but getting OrgUnit for each
fetched position is expensive (SQL call per fetched position if OrgUnit has
not been fetched yet).
It would be good to either define M-N mapping with attributes concept or at
least provide O/R mapper with a hint to do batch load of OrgUnits when
reading Positions for a Member (and vice versa Members when loading
Positions for an OrgUnit) by joining OrgUnit table with Position table and
loading it together

i think i should have mentioned this earlier. My Employee node is inside another node. So, the actual input structure of the WS is this:
InputValues (1...1)
   Employees (0..n)
      FirstName: String
      LastName: String
This scenario works OK in BPM when mapping a 0..n node using deep copy as Jocelyn explained, but I still doesn't work if I want to pass an empty (not null) Employees array.
If I go to the WS Navigator and run this WS with the following parameters, it runs ok (I get an output message saying no employee was selected, which is how it should work):
InputValues - "Is null" checkbox not activated.
   Employees - "Skip" checkbox not activated
      FirstName - "Skip" checkbox activated
      LastName - "Skip" checkbox activated
However, if instead of activating the checkbox of, say, "FirstName", I enter a "" value, I get an error from the WS saying that's not a vaild first name, which is also how it should work.
In java code, I would just pass an empty InputValues object to the WS, but I'm not sure how to do this in a BPM without it being considered null, and without having to set on of its String-child values to "".
Do you know how to achieve this?

Performance problem with attribute dimensions - please help!

Hi everybody,
I run OBIEE reports on top of EssBase 9.3 ASO cube.
My cube has 8 regular dimensions and 10 attribute dimensions.
I am running a query based on:
- 3 dimensions (TIME, BATCH, MODEL),
- 2 attributes of BATCH ( SHIFT, SHIFT_STATUS )
- and one measure.
The query runs 3 minutes (!) and returns 190 rows.
If I remove the attributes, the query runs 4 seconds for the same number of result rows.

Hi Glenn,
I though that the reason might be the crossjoin with a very large set. The main dimension in this query has ~40000 members.
Is there in EssBase MDX some analog for NONEMPTYCROSSJOIN() function that exists in MSAS?
As these two attributes belong to the dimension that is used in the query, for every member of the dimension, there is one and only one member of each attribute. Therefore I though that Essbase should "know" how to behave.

QE72 display vendor batch number

HI,
we would like to see additional to the internal batch number the vendor batch number in the result recording screen (top alv grid).
Currently I started to create the additional output information with imp. enhancements in SAPFQE20.   This looks good, and I'm able to get are new line with the vendor batch number description. But I don't have any data to display for the lots.
I checked and found that all inspection lots are stored in structure "G_INSP_LOTS" defined in RQETBI20 as BAPI2045D_IL0. But bad that this structure don't have any vendor batch number.   If I check the inspection lot this information is stored in QALS-LICHN.
Strange is, if I check the BADI "InspectionLot" (objecttype BUS2045) there is attribute vendor batch defined.   Based on the numbering of the BADI BUS2045 and the defined BAPI2045D_IL0 structure it seems there is a relation but do somebody knows this relation ?
Also function module MAP2E_QALS_TO_BAPI2045D_IL0 that is used to translat WALS information into the BADI structure don't have any hint for LICHN.
Not sure if this is missing implementation. Could this be for such an basic field?
Any ideas, what I can do to display the vendor batch number.

We are facing same issue.
Material M00001 with 2 batches XYZ and ZYX.
Batch XYZ has vendor batch set to 0123456
Batch ZYX has vendor batch 33333333.
Now user posts GI with batch XYZ and system automatically changes vendor batch in master record of second batch ZYX and replaces 33333333 with 0123456.
Do you see any logic in it?

Material Movements issue in BEX report

Hi Friends
We have one report which shows the report on the production date, batch number, number of expired
products and non expired products etc. recently in R/3, people have changed the production date
for few batches and now the BW report is displaying 2 production dates for the batches whose production date changed. the report is based on 0IC_C03. I need to display the production date of a batch when they first entered into the system and any changes to the production date to any batch should be ignored and should not be pulled into the report. Hope to get quick help on this.

Could you please tell me how do you know which production date is entered first for batch. I think this job is difficult or even it can do this will make impact the performance because system has to check again and again when you view report . I suggest that to make sure one batch only have one production date you should put production date as the attribute of batch and use it as navigation attribute in cube.

there are 14 steps u have to go through while uploading...
first u create Project and Sub Projects...
1 Maintain Object Attributes
   select Batch Input Recording.
           click on Overview.
   enter Recording
Then it wil ask for the Transaction code there u enter XK01 for creation
u enter all The details Which are Given to u in Excel by ur CTM Members.
note: Dont use Mouse while Entering the data.Use Only Key Board.
After Entering all the required details click on Save...
select Default All
System-> List -> Save -> Local File
Convert Excel to Text File(Text Tab Limited)

     click on Copy Fields

Importing word doc into InDesign

I am trying to find the best way to get about 250 word pages into 250 InDesign pages.
Currently I am assuming I have to copy/paste each page by hand. Is there a way to set page breaks in word and have them relate to pages in InDesign? I know that I can Find/Change attributes to batch/automatically apply styles to imported text. My major issue is that each InDesign page has a header, sub header, then 4 - 5 paragraphs with inline headers, so there is a lot of formatting.

You have to put your custom frame on you master A page. Open your pages pallet. select the master page, create you custom frames on the master page. Select the first frame, click on the little blue box the bottom right the hover you curser over inside the next frame and it will turn into a chain link icon. Click.
This will link the two frames together over the left and right pages.
Now double click on page one in your page pallet. You'll see the dotted frame which means that it on you master page. If you don't? then got to menu View>show frame edges.
Next
File> place select the word file
your curser will load with the word file, hover your curser inside the dotted blue frame you just made on page 1 hold down your shift and click

JPA multiple queries run for ManyToOne mapping

I have a ManyToOne relationship defined on an Entity A to another Entity B. When I run a named query that returns N results, N queries are run to populate the Entity B objects defined by the ManyToOne relationship.
Is there a way to configure toplink to run a single join query to populate all of the Entities instead of running N+1 queries?

JPQL defines the "join fetch" syntax for joining a relationship.
i.e.
select obj from PSFasCatAttr obj join fetch obj.pSFasAttribute where ...
You can also set the relationship to be @Lazy, (I would recommend this anyway), so even if you don't join the relationship in your query it will not read the related objects unless they are accessed.
If you are using the TopLink 11g preview you can also use TopLink query hints to join fetch or batch read the attribute. Batch reading can be more efficient than a join fetch for reading ToMany or ManyToOne relationships because it avoids duplicates.

HowTo Sort Photos by Name on iPad (Windows 7, etc. - For Those Frustrated)

So I was very frustrated as I read manga, etc., sometimes in image file form, and the Photos feature on the iPad is perfect for it. Except, when I uploaded the photos in iTunes, they'd get all out of order, and as it stands, there is NO way I know of to sort them in iTunes or on the iPad directly - they are sorted by date taken, period, unless you have iPhoto, which I don't since I don't have a Mac (and there's no version for PC). On a sidenote, I hope Apple provides some photo sorting and more robust options in future updates as this seems to be a rather silly oversight.
Also, I did not come up with this fix on my own, but wanted to streamline it after a lot of trial and error and reading multiple posts on the forum which helped me figure this out. This is using Windows 7, but Vista and XP should be fairly similar. Here's how to get your Photos sorted correctly (It worked for me anyway, so hopefully my logic is right on this):
1.) First, have it set up to sync in iTunes, obviously, with your files in the proper folder (originals or copies - you'll be modifying some of the picture data, so a copy might be best if this data is important to you on the originals). Personally I made an iPad folder (to sync up) in my Pictures directory with image sets in subfolders under it (I believe the iPad can only read one subfolder down). You'll also want to sort the files by name as you want them to be sorted on the iPad.
2.) In the main iPad photo directory you've made, you should see another directory called "iPod Photo Cache" - delete this (it'll regenerate upon next sync with the new order).
3.) Get into your iPad sync folder and then into the subfolder with the individual files you want to sort. CTRL-A to Select All, then once selected, right click, select Properties, and then the Details tab.
4.) Click "Remove Properties and Personal Information" at the bottom. A new window should pop up. Click the radio button for "Remove the following properties from this file:" and then check the "Date taken" box. Alternatively, you can hit "Select All" if none of the information is important to you (what I did). Click "OK" to make that window disappear, then "OK" to close out Properties and accept the changes.
5.) Go back into iTunes, resync, and you should have properly sorted files now. Enjoy, and please let me know if this works for you!

Unfortunately it wasn't this straightforward for me! The above method seemed to work initially on some photo folders but then I found that it didn't on others. I've spent quite a few hours today investigating and experimenting. The iPad definitely sorts on the Windows file attribute "Date Taken" - the difficulty is changing this attribute using batch processing of several files at once. My EXIF metadata date fields are correct so I would like to be able to update the Date Taken file attribute from EXIF data for lots of photo files in one go. No-one seems to have written a program specifically for this task. I have tried various popular EXIF utilities and have only managed to do it with manual intervention on individual files which is too laborious for all my photos. It doesn't help that when you try and manually edit this Date Taken property for an individual file in Windows you can only change the date, not the time.
In my opinion, the real solution is for Apple to offer us a choice of the photo sort order in ITunes. My preference would be filename, perhaps with options to choose the Date Taken attribute, file timestamp or date modified filestamp (EXIF date fields as well is probably asking a bit too much!)

LSMW Pricing Condition changes

I need to create a LSMW to change pricing condiitons in condition type PR00 for access sequence table 006 (Price List Type/Currency/Material). I did the following:
1. Defined Object attributes Standard/Batch Direct Input 0070 (Condition record) Program Name RV14BTCI and Program type B (Batch). Method is 000.
2. Where do I define that the new records have to go into this table 006? Will it be in the source structures? Source fields? Can anyone explain me step by step how this will work? And what will be the subsequent steps? The documentation I have on LSMW isn't much help unfortunately and is very generic. I need specific solution/steps to this pricing condition table. Any guidance on it?

Program Assignment to Sys Standard Object

Hi,
I am working on LSMW 4.0. (1st option) Maintain Object Attributes --> Standard Batch/Direct Input. When I select the system standard Object 0020 (Material Master) it fetches the respective only available Method 0000 and Program RMDATIND (Direct Input Prog).
Requirement: Change in the logic of prog. Which i did by copying RMDATIND into ZRMDATIND and made all required changes.
Problem: How to assign this newly created ZRMDATIND to the Object 0020. So that when we select the object it fetches my prog instead of system standard.
Your earliest response is required.

Go to SXDA-> Goto-> register Programs. You will see list of all objects there. Create registration for Material object with your newly created program.

Recipe Material Qty Calculation

Material Quantity fuctionality is used
When the Compoenents quantity or properties impact the Header materials quantities or the remaining components quantities.
For example,
we make 1000 kgs of 10% Sulpuric acid concentration using 10 kgs of 100% Sulphuric acid and 990 kgs of water.
Here if 100 % Sulphurtic acid might not avialble all the time, we may get 80% 90% or some other percentage.
However we always need 10% sulphuric acidas a Finished product.
Having diffrent PV's is one option.
However the other options is to use the MQC, where formuals can be defined to change the Header and other compoenents quanties based on a active compoenents attributes. Batch characteritics.

I see no other way except LSMW or SHDB for this
For LSMW the process is easy.Before that if possible read regarding LSMW.For this in T Code LSMW give the name of the Project,SubProject & Object (Any text description) and than execute.You will get a minimum of 14 steps to perform.
These are the steps.
1 .Maintain Object Attributes (Select Batch Input Recording and give the T Code as MI02 and taking one PI Document record the transaction.Here enter the PI Document Number & Fiscal Year)
2. Maintain Source Structures
3 .Maintain Source Fields(the field IBLNR & GJAHR to be mantained)
4 .Maintain Structure Relations
5 .Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules(Here also the two fields IBLNR & GJAHR to be assigned)
6 .Maintain Fixed Values, Translations, User-Defined Routines
7. Specify Files(Here the file should be arranged in sequence of PI Document numbers than space Fiscal year and saved as a text file)
8 .Assign Files
9 .Read Data
10 .Display Read Data
11 .Convert Data
12 .Display Converted Data
13 .Create Batch Input Session
14 .Run Batch Input Session
After going all the steps the PI documents arranged in the text file will be imported and deleted one by one.

Doing a batch export in LR CC doesn't keep me in same attributes screen

I just installed LR CC, and I've noticed that there seems to be a quirky little bug when exporting images. I normally like to go through my images, and narrow down to my selects with the star ratings. I'll then have my attributes show only the 3-starred images, for instance. I select just those 3-starred images that I'm now seeing and do a batch export to PSD files. However, once the export starts and once that first PSD file is created, I am automatically kicked back to the library view of ALL of my images, not just the 3-starred rating ones. I just find this to be an inconvenience as I can no longer make attribute selections stick during an export since I'm constantly kicked back to the view of ALL of my images. This happens in any kind of export situation.
**4/28/15 Edit: it appears as though it's a bug with the "add to this catalog" option that you can check in the export settings. I've been able to export things fine when this is not checked. When it's checked, the export is extremely sluggish to start and then just dumps me back into the view with all my images visible, not just my selected ones.**
Is there a setting I need to adjust here or is this a LR CC bug?
Hoping there's some way to fix this.

First: Send Apple a Feedback. This has been an issue since the first days of X and is still not corrected in Tiger, from the posts I see there. Apple needs to know it matters to you. Click on "Discussions" at the top of this page and then look at the bottom left of the list of forums that comes up
Second: You did send that Feedback, didn't you. In the same corner is the link to the Users' Tips Library. In it—you'll have to do a search—is the tip from Scott Radloff "Making Finder Views Persistant" [title may not be exact] that you want.
Briefly, Apple's overlay of X onto UNIX broke down here. The 'ownership' of the problem windows belongs to one of those greyed out users like "eppp" and "mysql" that you see under your shortname when you look at Details in a Get Info… window on a file. UNIX needs them, so you need them, but you don't need to defer to their idea of what a perfect window looks like. Not if you're willing to become "root" the superuser and tell them how-to. That's Scott's tip, and do be warned: Rootness is all-powerful, and you must use those powers only for good and immediately renounce them when your task is done.
