ATV2 Connected with HDMI for video and fiber optics for Sound but unable to located the fiber optics option in ATV2
hello everyone, I currently have my ATV2 connected from HDMI to my TV for Audio&Video but I want to run just my HDMI for Video and my Fiber optics cable for my Sound. I am unable to locate in the settings where I can change my sound to Fiber optics output.

ok so I figured it out.. I just needed to go into my surround sound and select optical out.

So if you have a Micro USB cable ( which comes with Android Smart Phones ) then try to connect your Apple Tv to your computer using the same and with the help of iTunes Restore your Apple Tv to Factory Settings. When I have full connection to both wi fi and my server I am stil unable to access the internet?

Apple feel it may be a software problem but when I am on 3G I am able to access theinternet with no problem

I have been to an Apple store and the phone picks up automatically Apples wi fi I.D.

I only was able to make pulse play stereo files with 2.0 (without sub) and movie files in 5.1 by adding "disable-remixing=yes" in daemon.conf

I have a group and it works, but unable to locate the group for edits.
The addresses that I originally set up in the group are saved in the group since by entering the group name in the address field all the addresses are entered into the mail. Problem is that I cannot find the group for editing purposes. I thought the way was to go to contacts on the left and find the group there....no such group listed.

KenSince there is no such thing as Groups in Thunderbird I will assume you are looking for a Mailing List that you created in one of your Address Books.
When you open the Address Book window do you have the Directory Pane showing?
If not turn it on by going to the menu bar and selecting View-Layout-Directory Pane
Any address book that has a Mailing List in it will either be showing the list as a sub-folder or have a small pointer beside the address book folder. If the sub-folder tree is not showing click the pointer to expand the view.
Then again since you are using terms like Contacts and Groups are you even talking about Thunderbird email client? -
Does anyone know where the 'at' symbol ('arobas' in French) on the small aluminium usb french keyboard actually is? I have found most other symbols - not all are where they are meant to be. This keyboard is plugged into an HP British computer where I have changed the language settings to French.
It is printed on the second top left key but both upper and lower case here are actually the arrow symbols. As i mentioned not everything is where it should be. I would be grateful if anyone who knows would pass on this information.ACSKW wrote:

I use my camera for video and photos. When I download my videos to my ipad1 using the camera connection kit, they will not play.

I haven't tried videos on my camera yet. Do you use the Videos App to play them? I don't think they will play in the Photos App.
If yours are in a format that is not in Vazandrew's list, you may need to sync them to your computer and convert them to M4V or MP4 format. You can use a program like HandBrake to do the conversion. <HandBrake> Once converted, you can sync them back to the iPad and they should play.
This may not meet your needs, but the alternative appears to be getting a different camera. I don't know of another Video App that might work.

Got new ATV and all set up. It keeps loosing connection with iTunes on laptop and have tried everything suggested in set up guide. It works fine for a while then the iTunes account vanishes from 'computer' menu TV screen. Full Wifi signal on both devices so can't think what could be causing it to happen. Any suggestions please?
Sorry, I updated another thread I was a part of but didn't update my own thread.....ughhh!
I updated all of my ATV 2's and 3's to the latest firmware when it was released and have been problem free since. I do believe the major issue of not being able to connect after a period of inactivity has been corrected with the latest ATV firmware.
I can look at my network connection table using "netstat -an" in a CMD window and I do not see the massive number of connections I saw before the update.

Until the MacBook Air was released and supported in 10.5, the Mac did not consider USB to be a valid Networking Protocol. So set the Mac with USB solutions aside.
To connect computer-to-computer, you typically need to be using an Ethernet crossover cable. Assigning the same address to two Ethernet devices is never the solution -- it gives a Network Conflict, just as you said.
If your Windows box has some mechanism for Sharing its WiFi connection over Ethernet, you would have to follow its rules. Whether that means Manually assigning an Ethernet Address in the same range or the PC will provide the Address, I do not know.
Best success may be running an Ethernet cable to your Wired/Wireless Base Station, or using a "gaming adapter" (Ethernet-to-Wireless no drivers required) connected to the Mac's Ethernet port to give it WiFi access. What is your Base Station {Cable, DSL, FIOS, Other} ? Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters (an American Football Field). Often the Base Station can be moved closer for more convenience. -

Back after a brief absence, things look a little bit different.
I'm trying to take a 16 minute mini dv video and compress it for use on the web. I'm interested in any suggestions you may have on settings for the video and audio tracks. I've tried using Sorenson 3 (15 frames, key frames set to automatic, 320 x 240) for video and IMA 4:1 (mono) for audio. The resulting video looked great but the file size came in at about 255 Mb.

I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work. I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic. When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones. This actually helped. I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems. I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac. I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed. Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio. -
I am using a Widows 7 PC with the latest Itunes. I would like to alot hard disc space on my 64GB Ipad2 as follows 15GB for music, 15GB for Video and 15GB for photos. I would then like Itunes to autofill from my PC. Can this be done? The same question also applies to my Iphone4. Thanks in advance
To my knowledge the iPod can only be used as a secondary monitor since you have to boot up the Mac and turn on the secondary display. You would still need a KB and pointing device for the Mac
However, you can log into the Mini from an iOS device like an iPad using app like LogMeIn, GoTo MyPC or TeamViewer on both the Mac and the iPad. You use the touch screen on the iPad for all control of the Mac.
As you said,that would be tedious for a lot of typing but you could use a BT keyboard for the iPad. -
Final Cut Server is for video and photo archiving?
Too many products in the last few years. I used to use iPhoto to archive both photos and video and edit them. Now I have moved to the professional line but it gets more confusing.
Aperture2: archiving and cataloguing thousands of pictures with minor edits
Adobe CS4: major edits to my pictures
FCP6: video edit but with no archiving and/or metadata capability
Final Cut Server: for what? Can it archive/metadata all my video and all my Aperture files and work
seamlessly between all these four programs?
Please help. I am considering buying Final Cut Server. I am both a photographer as well as a videographer running many different cameras over many different kinds of shoots. And I am trying to simplify my work process.

We use Adobe products for photo and desktop stuff
and FCP Suite for video.
We ingest images with Bridge and add keywords.
The raw files are backed up and the corrected images
are processed (Photoshop/Image Processor) and dropped
into a Final Cut Server watch folder.
This action automatically adds the files to FCS for
easy access as well as backs up the images to an
external FTP in our desktop publishing office across
town. Desktop has its own version of FCS that adds
the new files and makes them available for designers.
When we shoot video we shoot mainly with Sony EX3
camcorders with SxS media. Footage is downloaded
and tagged in XDCAM Transfer. The folder that is
labeled "Import" in the utility is also a watch
folder which added the files to FCS.
So in other words Final Cut Server has us organized
and working together much better than we were before. -
I have been having issues with not receiving texts and voicemails daily, for a few months now. If I turn the phone completely off, when I turn it back on the messages will flood in from hours before. I can't be continually turning off my phone in case someone left me a message. How do I resolve this issue?
Wifi: my Cell phone will remember 10 wifi connections. So delete any you don't use often and your home wifi and try to enter home wifi again.
if it still won't connect to home wifi, call your internet provider for help. You may need a newer router or different settings Or upgraded service. Your phone seeks the best connection and will refuse lesser connections.
last resort. Backup the phone. Do a full reset, then restore as new with the backup.
if still not fixed, go back to apple and insist on repair or replacement.
HOWEVER. voicemail is not a wifi issue, it's a carrier function, which is why the SIM card is a suspect. -
Video and audio formats for iPad
Hey, guys.. I've tried searching this up in the forum but didn't have any luck with that..
I can't seem to upload my movies and songs into iPad... I tried converting my movie into .mov and .mp4. They can both be imported into my iTunes library but when I drag it to the iPad tab it says it cannot be copied because it cannot be played on the iPad. And some of my albums just can't be imported.
May I know the preferred format for my movies and my songs? And what could be the problem with my importing..
