Audigy 2 NX install... endless problem

Ok, desperately need help.
When I first purchased my Audigy 2 NX USB I was running a PIII 800mhz with Windows XP SP. After installing the drivers and the software package, my computer sporadically detected the sound card. Even when it did recognize it was connected to the computer, my system would freeze as soon as I attempted to play a sound through the bundled media player (or any media player for that matter!) Turning off the power to the sound card would release my system from its frozen state. I tried repeatedly all of the solutions on the Creative website (uninstalling drivers in Safe Mode, reinstalling, etc. etc.) to no avail.
Shortly thereafter I upgraded my system to a P4, 3 ghz with HT. I installed XP SP2, and then the Audigy 2 NX. No issues!! I was thrilled. The sound card worked flawlessly and has been continuing to do so for almost 4 months now.
While playing World of Warcraft however, I was getting some strange popping noises from the speakers when it played certain sound effects. I checked the Creative sight and found that new drivers had been released this past February and thought I would upgrade.
Well, after installing the drivers, I'm back to the same issue I had originally!! XP doesn't want to properly detect the card, and installing the drivers is doing me no good. I know it is not an issue with the card as I have already tried exchanging it for a new one when I first had the issue.
Someone... PLEASE!! HELP ME!!!Message Edited by Strangeway on 03-29-2005 04:44 PM

I have noticed that my video card is on the same IRQ as some of my USB ports (IRQ 6) yet the hardware profiles don't register a conflict. I can't seem to change the IRQ for either my AGP slot or the USB.

  • Audigy Gamer re install prob

I am trying to re install my Audigy Gamer sound card and when I attempt this with the original install disk I get a error message saying that "Setup could not detect any sound blaster audigy on your system. Please ensure that your sound blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program. Setup will exit now". When I look in the device manager I can see that Windows has a "Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM)" listed.
How is it possible that Windows sees Audigy hardware and yet Audigy's own install software doesn't? Also how can I get this thing properly installed ? I've un installed it several times and physically removed the card already and after 3 hours of this fun stuff I am right back where I started.
    Thanks for any help

Hi. I've got the same problem after reinstalling windows and installing sp2. I keep getting the same error messages. few times on reinstall of old drivers from the cd it actualy went frough with installation and there actualy was sound at windows shut down. but on starup nothing again. tried reinstalling few times. tried installing new updated drivers, but thouse would not install at all! tried changing pci slots, nothing.. and it seems that creatives techs or c.s. reps have no interest in looking in forum nor they have any idea what the problem is with this issue . I suspect it has to do with sp2 update. may be direct x issue. but can't roll back to previuse version of direct x without reinstalling the sp2. any one has any idea how to fix this sound card issue?

  • When trying to uninstall iTune (because the current install has problems), I get the error message 2324.  What should I do to reinstall the application?

When trying to uninstall iTune (because the current install has problems; iTune error message states it cannot sync and that I should reinstall the application; also, it fails when I tried to upgrade to the latest release), I get the error message 2324.  What should I do to reinstall the application?

That installer error is a "Can't open file" error
It suggest that you may have a corrupt file.
    Try running a disk check
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Check-a-drive-for-errors
If it fixes errors try uninstalling iTunes again.
If that doesn't work, is it possible for find out the name of the problem file, is further information available? Try looking in your Action center - that's on the control panel. Another place is in the Windows Error logs. From the start menu , right click on "Computer" and select manage, then Event viewer.
If nothing emerges, try a manual uninstall of iTunes and related programs according to this method:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Don't worry if an uninstall fails, that is expected. Go on to the part where you have to delete files (2. Verify iTunes etc completely deleted) . Hopefully you manage to find a file that can't be deleted, that is the one we will need to deal with.

  • CS1 Install/Uninstall Problems ?

I can't uninstall CS1, nor can can I reinstall Photoshop from CS1, which is presently not installed. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium. I am out of warranty and Adobe will not provide suppport. I have read all I can find about FLEXnet licensing suspecting there is a connection. When I try to either install or uninstall CS1, I get an error message from Microsoft saying that "Adobe CS1 installer has stopped working". There is no other information unless I open the Adobe File folder for Photoshop from CS1 that I saved to my desktop. I can initiate the install procedure from that folder, but when prompted for the original product serial number a message states that the serial number I have provided is invalid. I have talked with Adobe however, and their records indicate that I have a valid serial number.
I have gone to "Services" using the administrative tools in the control panel and tried setting FLEXnet Licensing on manual,  then on automatic, and finally disabling it temporarily. I have gone to the Start Up menu on the desktop and entered "msconfig" in the search box and gone to services where FLEXnet was at first "stopped" and is now "running".
On some forums there are recommendations to first copy and save FLEXnet to another area of the hard drive, then delete it altogether from its original location, and then uninstall ALL Adobe software in the computer before reinstalling everything. Other contributors strongly caution the removal of FLEXnet, and some users have complained of ongoing problems after deleting FLEXnet. Firstly, I'm not sure I can figure out how  to copy and save FLEXnet to another drive, and secondly I'm afraid of the possible results. Even if I can accomplish those tasks I don't know if that procedure will then allow me to either uninstall the portion of CS1 still in my computer, or reinstall the Photoshop that presently won't install. By the way, all the CS1 programs that remain in my computer are operational. Photoshop is the only missing component.
I am not well versed in technology, and much that I read in the forums is only partially comprehensible to me. If you have the patience and knowledge to help me unravel this mess I would love your help. Thanks. Harrison

Thank you Bob. It was very nice of you to write. I have been using CS1 with Vista since Vista came out. I'm aware that compatibility is considered a significant issue. Fortunately, I never had any problems until now, although I would have replaced CS1 with a more recent and compatible version if money were not part of the equation for me.
Adobe told me that if I bought the CS5 they would help me straighten out any issues now caused by the CS1, but otherwise they would not help. I did not think to ask if Adobe has designed CS5 to be compatible with Vista, but I will. I may buy the more recent version out of necessity, but it does not seem unreasonable to me that Adobe should help someone with a valid serial and registration number access their software regardless of warranties. The problem at hand seems to be a glitch in the licensing application provided by FLEXnet that I presume protects Adobe from unauthorized use of their products. I am wondering how much this situation actually has to do with system compatibility, given that I have been using the software for roughly two years with Vista, or whether it is simply that Adobe's FLEXnet licensing shield can work against legitimate users under certain circumstances. Adobe did not mention FLEXnet to me, but I would like to know one way or the other if FLEXnet is at the core of the problem.
Thank you again Bob for writing. I may wipe my OS clean and reload everything. I suspect the CS1 might work then, but I do realize that CS1 is old by technological standards, in spite of the fact that I would gladly continue to use it. I am among those people that find the cost of keeping current very difficult, and I find it exasperating that so many products and services become obsolete very rapidly when considering their relative cost. Have a nice weekend.
    Best Regards,
    Harrison

Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP, it's covered by a 1 year hardware warranty. If you have AppleCare then give them a call but I'm pretty sure they will advise the same. If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first  year of ownership. Let it go 366 days and you are out of luck. AppleCare will also include telephone support too.
    Good luck.

Ok... not sure what #BASE# means.. so I renamed and edited the cacaoadm.bat file to look like:

What can I do to get this cacao agent to start serving on port 1111whatever.
Should I just accept defeat and Junk SUN DS 6.x and advise our customer accordingly? Its a high visible client who prefers Windows and really couldnt care less which brand of LDAP server he uses.

    Hi.
    The rule is:
"On Windows systems in order to allow remote management capabilities when installing the zip distribution, you must install either as Administrator, or as a user who belongs directly to the local Administrators group."
So your user should be OK.
The issue is that the Common Agent Container has not been configured or mis-configured. I don't know why but now you have to deal with that. Modifying cacaoadm.bat is likely not to be sufficient and if you do this, you should use short name only: Program Files -> Progra~1. Rollback to the original file and try to run <install_dir>\share\cacao_2\configure.bat and then 'cacaoadm.bat rebuild-dependencies'. Then you should be able to use dsccsetup.

    Carole.

  • Vista 5242 audigy 4 wont install drivers

I have windows vista build 5342 on my desktop which currently has an internal pci audigy 4 card...i installed the "SBAX_PCDVTBETA_US_2_08_0002" driver creative has put out for such audio cards. After i installed, i restarted, and still no audio card installed!! is there something im missing? PLEASE HELP!!!

I've just spent the last 3 days trying to get some kind of sound out of my SB live 24 on build 5384. Nothing! I've tried every conceivable combination of drivers (including the old '05 vista drivers) and still nothing. Now Vista is in an endless loop of booting and "installing device drivers" until it finds nothing and gives up until next boot. Infuriating. Part of the beta process is to see what works and doesn't work on Vista. Well, we know SB's don't work.

  • Audigy SE and AL ADA885 problem needs to be solved once and for

I just purchased the Audigy SE (I'm on a budget) and installed it. I have the Altec Lansing ADA885 THX 4. digital surround speakers. This sound card DOES NOT work correctly with them. I have been all over the net trying everything that I have seen suggested to make it work. The specs say it should work. It does not. I have tried every possible wiring configuration to no avail. One thing that I find rather annoying is that I have seen several people say that changing the SPDIF to passthrough fixes the problem, yet I cannot find anywhere to change that setting, as I cannot find Audio HQ on the driver CD or on the net to install and change that setting. Can someone, for the love of god, please come up with a valid solution to this problem? I have seen so many people with this same problem who get the run around and answers that just don't help at all. What is needed is "Here, do a, then do b, download c, and BAM! problem solved". Not "Here, do f, do h, download c, j, k, m, and p, then go back and do f again, then a, then b, then come back here and let us know that none of it fixed the problem". I don't wish to be a whiner or a jerk about this, but it is a bit frustrating to be "upgrading" to a card that won't even work right. On behalf of all those with the same problem, thanks in advance to anyone who has a valid solution to this very big, very real problem.

    OK...
. Do you have the complete application suie of the Audigy SE installed?
    2. If so, in Control Panel do you have the Audio Console or Audio Control Panel?
    3. If you do, change the settings for Decoder Settings to SPDIF passthrough. (THis is however only of AC-3 content, it doesn't affect other formats) (I am not sure the Audigy SE does have a decoder, if not, you need to change the setting in the AC-3 decoder you use)
    4. Then go to Device settings and change the Digital Output sampling rate to 48kHz.
Now if you cannot find Audio Console, then you should download the latest drivers. They specifically state they allow you to change the "SPDIF output Sampling rate", so you should be able to access the option. I believe your problem lies to the fact your SPDIF is configured for 96kHz output and most probably these very old speakers do not support more than 48kHz.
PS: The instruction I posted above, are based on an Audigy 2 ZS setup, so the naming of the settings and access programs could be different on the SE, but nevertheless present.

  • Apeture??? Endless Problems

Downloaded the trial version of Aperture 3 then bought the complete version. Was this a mistake? I've had nothing but problems with it ever since. It's so slow, in fact, my whole computer seems to be slow since I've installed it. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to force quit. The spinning beach ball appears a lot and today the beach ball appeared and then everything froze. Couldn't force quit or anything? What is going on? I got a tip from somewhere the other day which suggested I hold down command & shift or something (don't quote me) on startup which I did but to no avail. Anyone got any suggestions as to how to fix these issues? Is there a bug fix coming soon? I'm very disappointed because on the surface it looks like a great little program.

Just want to echo and amplify Allan's excellent advice based on my experience.
. Get 4 GB of RAM
    . Turn off Faces
. Make sure you have 1/5 of your system HD free/unused.
. Always let Aperture finish it's tasks. Use Activity Monitor if you want to, but note that Activity Monitor frequently reports that Aperture is not responding even though Aperture is not hung. Let Aperture run until it finishes.
. Set Previews to half-size, medium quality, or less (unless you have specific needs). This (and the next) are on "Aperture→Preferences→Previews".
. Set "Share Previews" to "When Quitting Aperture" or "Never". Always let Aperture shut all the way down when quitting (give it all the time it needs to generate and share Previews). With one of my Libraries this regularly takes a few minutes -- sometimes ten minutes or more.
. Quit Aperture regularly. I shut mine down at least every two hours when I am working.
If you are having endless hangs, jumping mouse cursor, and generally poor performance, it is likely that Aperture has never completed digesting a very large import (for example, a couple years worth of photos from iPhoto). In addition to the above, as a general guide, I recommend:
    . Clean up your HD.
. Clear the entire Trash sluice (Rejected, Aperture Trash, System Trash).
. Use Software Update and update everything.
. Rebuild the Library and/or Database after a clean boot.
. Let Aperture run, with your computer plugged in and set to not turn off, for at least one night. If you have tens of thousands of images, or tens of GB of data, it may take Aperture 3 or 4 complete days to finish processing.
. Set up a Referenced Library. Put your Library on your large fast system HD and put the Referenced files elsewhere (a huge not-fast external drive is OK). Use Aperture's built-in tools to move your Master files.
. Back up regularly. Store a back up copy off-site. (Always true and worth repeating.)
. Be patient. I see a lot of complaints here say some version of "This is unacceptable in a pro application". Professionals use powerful tools. Aperture can (and likely will) allow you to push your hardware to or beyond its limits.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Surround Sound Problem - Please He

Hi, I have been using The Audigy 2 ZS sound card for over a year now, I have all the latest drivers installed and everything is updated.
My problem is, for some reason my 5. surround sound just stopped working. I did not change any of the settings, in creative settings or the control panel. All the cables and wires are plugged in to the correct spot. I checked the control panel and the creative speaker settings, and both are set at 5. surround sound. I have done the channel and noise tests with the speakers and I get sound in ALL of the speakers, yet when I try and play music through itunes and sound through games, it is only in the front left and front right speaker. Al lthe programs I have tested with have the 5. surround sound set in their options.
Like I said, the surround sound was working fine two days ago, and without changing any speaker settings or unplugging any cables, the surround sound stopped working.
I have looked through other threads trying to find a similar problem, but I did not turn up any good results. If you find any other threads that have a solution to this problem just link them and I will take a look at them (and sorry for the repeated thread).
    Thank you for your time.
Edit: Anyone help? Message Edited by Cofer on 09-20-2006 09:07 PM

What happened is when you installed the new itunes 7 it messed around with all of your files for the sound check and as a result when u are using sound check your speakers will not work correctly (I just fixed this problem). To fix it, simply go into the edit menu, then preferences and then click on the playback tab. In that tab the third box you can check off from the top should be sound check. Simply uncheck that box and you should be fine.
    Good Luck

  • Audigy 2 ZS Install Probl

    Hello,
I recently upgraded to an Audigy 2 zs. I am having some problems installing the card.
Main problem is when I try to install the drivers from the cd. It gives me an error saying the card was not detected. Odd I thought. I went to the soundblaster site and did the auto detect devices to update drivers and it detetected it as an Audigy 2zs. I downloaded the drivers and installed and it worked for a day or two and then it stopped working. I unistalled drivers made sure onboard was disabled even moved to a different pci slot and same thing when I try to install from disk it doesnt detect it and your website does. What am I doing wrong? Any thoughts please help me.

My Audigy 2 ZS works fine with original drivers found on the installation CD but when I try to install driver 2.03.0004 (latest on autoupdate) I see installation failure and system totally hangs after reboot (unable to complete reboot). This happens with both 32 and 64 bit version of driver 2.03.0004 (installed on 32 and 64 bit Windows correspondingly). Since my original CD has no 64-bit driver at all I am not able to boot my 64bit system or just able to boot it with no sound support. Earlier versions of 64-bit driver worked just fine but they seem to be not available for autoupdate anymore Unfortunatelly, recently I reinstalled 64-bit Windows so I cannot roll back to any previous driver This is so bad I am getting really nervious on that

  • Audigy 2 zs gamer card problem or or something wo

I can install all of the drivers fine but when i run dxdiag i switch to the sound tab and the card is there on the left side but when you look at he driver side its blank except the bottom which says creative but thats all. I've unistalled , installed ,took the card out , then replaced. everything i can think of. I get sound from alot of games but not form Doom 3 and MOH pacific assault. Is it my card or the computer?

This sounds very similar to my problem (see recent post on Audigy 2 ZS running as emulated. In dxdiag my drivers also don't show up as you describe. Is your card running as emulated (shown on dxdiag after the device name? If so it will only be running software not hardware buffering, which may be why certain software doesn't work. For me Pacific Fighters (flight sim) has triple sounds, crackling, stuttering etc.
I'm still looking for a solution (tried here, UK Creative forums, PF forum, searching etc.). So far no re-install of drivers works. Auot-update says everything's fine, but it isn't. Have been told to re-install DirctX but you can't uninstall DirctX9c. Will try shifting card to another slot later. IF that doesn't work I may have to re-install XP and start again. Anyway good luck and let us know if you solve the problem, I'll do likewise.

I can confirm that I have similar problem with SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic, 4GB RAM, Windows XP Pro x64 Edition.
No hardware sound buffers. This basically means my games are NOT hardware accelerated.
I bought this card so I could have hardware acceleration and I could dump my Realtek on-board AC'97 audio.
I'd like to know how this can be fixed and when can we get working drivers for 4gigabytes of RAM ?
4 Gigabyte will become common soon when Vista will be more used, since Vista uses a lot of memory.
