Audio fades in compound clip

I have an edited compund clip that someone created and every time I play it, there are audio fades in between the cuts that shouldn't be there and the person who edited it claims they never added them.  When I go and fix them all, next time I open final cut and play that clip, the fades are added back in.  Why is this happening?  Basicall in between the cuts audio drops at the end of the first cut and then goes up on the beginning of the next clip in the cut.  It's like FCX is doing this automatically, but I can't get rid of it for good.  Any ideas?
Thank you

That's odd. When you change the compound should update. Bring the compound clip into the project. Double click the clip to open its component clips. Make any change that's easily reversed – say, disable a clip (V). Close the project. Create a new empty project. Bring the compound to the new project. The disabled clip should not be visible.

  • I don't want 'Automatic audio fade' for each clip

hmm, well, I like it but some member at my German board noticed, that any new clip has its (short) audio-fade-in.
You can set to 'Manual/0 sec' ... but for each clip, not as a 'preset' for all.
any expert any idea, which internal plist to edit to set that 'fix' to a 0-sec-fade?
    haven't found any ...

  • Audio fade not working in compound clip

How are you doing? When I have a compound clip of multiple audio files, the fade handle doesn't seem to be affecting the audio like it did before the update.
    Below is an example...

actually, that audio compound clip is not inside the compound clip. What you are seeing is multiple audio files compounded together. When I do this, the fade does not work. I can automate the level line, but the fade handles are ineffective.

  • Syncing audio in Final Cut Pro X doesn't create a compound clip

I just had a quick question that hopefully someone can help me with. I was shooting some video with my Canon t3i the other day, and I record audio into a Zoom H1. I imported all of my audio and video into Final Cut Pro X and I wanted to syncronize the clips, so I chose the video and the correct audio to go with it, and I right clicked them, and chose syncronize clips.
Now, my question. On every example I've seen of this, syncronizing two clips creates a compound clip which would be great, but when I choose syncronize clip, it just creates a new clip of the video with both audio files apart of the video. It's not a compound clip at all, it's just a video file with two audio channels, one with the cameras audio, the other with the Zoom H1 audio. When I go to shut off the cameras audio channel and just leave the Zoom H1 audio, my video starts to skip and just goes black, yet the audio plays fine...
I guess I'm just looking for help, is there something wrong that I am doing when I am trying to sync these clips? Are there certain file settings that I should have? My video is recorded in 1080p with 24fps, the audio is recorded in WAV format. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • Audio level different in compound clip

Experiening an odd audio behaviour. I have created a compound clip and them dropped in interview into it. After that I place a compressor on the interview audio and set it to agerage at -20db. Once I them place the conpound clip onto a project the audio level in the peoject drops by -5db. I need to bump the project audio up +5db to get it back the agerage -20db it is in the compound clip. I have tried this on 2 systems with the same exact results.
Is this the way it is supposed to behave? And if so why? Seems to me the audio level should stay consistant from the compound clip to the project.

I think I found the answer because I just made smaller compound clips and when I break  them apart the audio is again visible but this time the video is only visible in the viewer and inspector which is enough to edit sso far...

  • Compound Clip, Audio roles, and X2Pro Audio Convert

    Hi Everybody,
    Here is the problem :
    - In my project, all media have specific roles, especially audio (Interview, Interview_Ambiance, Sfx, Music etc...).
    - Interview and Interview_Ambiance are in compound clips. These Compound clips have the default Video/Audio roles: "Video/Dialogue".
    - When using X2Pro for exporting the AAF (audio channels) from the project, the only roles available for exporting (from the X2Pro soft) are dialogue and music.
I'm wondering if anybody else had the same issue and if it is from X2Pro or FCPX.
    Thanks!
    Emmanuel.

TImecode shouldn't matter. FCP doesn't use it. Have you tried the sync function?
you can also select the video and use open in timeline, then add the audio into it to sync it.
    COmpound clips shouldn't be involved.
WHat are the  audio sample rates?

  • Compound clip audio issue

I record table-top games, and capture audio from an external microphone. I then sync them up into a compound clip with the camera audio muted and the good audio turned up. The problem is, whenever I go to cut up the clip (delete unnecessary bits), there is a very noticeable audio jump between cuts. Like the audio shuts off and on very quickly, even when I just make a splice and don't delete anything. I've cut up different clips using the same equipment numerous times and it has always been seamless, so I am guess that this is an issue with using compound clips. Does any one have a solution? driving me crazy.

  • I am trying to use the auto audio-sync feature. When I select the video and audio clip to be synced FCPX says its syncing them and then once finished (at 100%) no compound clip is created and the video and audio file do not sync. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi
    In iMovie'11 (version 9.0.x)
    on top menu row - Apple/iMovie/File/Edit/Cut (Can vary dep. on language - in Swedish Apple/iMovie/Arkiv/Redigera/Klipp . . . )
down Cut menu - Slow playback/Raspid Playback/Re-play in Slow Motion and onvards
Here one can select the Pre-Set speeds
Are you familiar with getting 'inspector' to run?
No - but I guess that Double Click on clip/sequense or ctrl-Click on it might open it.

  • All additional audio tracks in synchronized or compound clips are merged into the mono-mix.

    Hi all.
I have a video with a stereo track and six separate audio tracks from set. I synced them. If you open the synchronized clip in a separate timeline, all audio tracks are on place and have their names. But if I append it to the storyline and expand audio components, there are only two audio tracks: monomix from the original video with its name and one stereo track named "a1", which is a mix of all additional audio tracks. The same thing happens if I make a compound clip, with a small difference. It forced me to give up the work I wanted to do.

Multicam works, but it is not very convenient. I can not use Sync-N-Link as I had planned, I get problems with export AAF and DaVinci do not like multicam in XML.
Channel configuration mirrors two tracks in the storyline, as you can see in the screenshots.

  • How do I share a compound clip between projects?...

    Hello everyone,
I have created a 10 second intro/title graphic clip in Motion and published it to FCPX. I have added this generator sequence to a project's timeline in FCPX. I then added a lower third title set. I have edited my text (font, style, etc) of my lower third text to where I want it. I then created a compound clip of the two parts (title generator and the lower third text element).
Now that it is dialed in, I need to be able to use it as a template for a series of videos I am working on. I can't seem to find a way to save it and make it availible to drop into other project sequences. I have tried to make a favourite out of the clip, I tried to copy and paste between projects (and into a new event)... nothing works fo rme.
    What am I missing?
Any help is appreciated, thank you,
    Shea A.J. Comfort

    Hi Andy
    Thank you for the advice.
I tried your method but there definitely seems to be a fault or glitch in my software.  If I highlight a number of connected clips and audio tracks the program will not copy and paste them into the newly created compound clip in my event library.
I therefore decided to do it the slow ay and copy each individual item.  This worked fine until I came to the final audio track.  No matter how many times I copy this track Final Cut refuses to do this.  It always comes up with the previous item I copied.  I have retried this and it will copy all the items except one.  As you would expect I have done a fair amount of work on this track in the form of equyalisation, a comnpression filter and numerous keyframes on the level to come out with a mix that I am happy with.  I cannot however move it from the original project.
I find this totally unacceptable and consider the software to be unfit for purpose as a result.  Unfortunately the apple terms and conditions state that all purchases are final and I have no recourse upon them for the fact that it does not work.
I cannot see how an update will fix a problem with my software that is not universal to all users.  I believe that I can reinstall it without being charged again but am hesitant to do this for fear of losing the large amount of work that I have put into the project.
My only hope now is to ring the premium rate number for customer support in the unlikely hope that it can be solved this way.
    Not Happy

  • How do I mute the audio of a video clip in PS 6

I have video clips on several layers in the timeline and want to mute the audio of specific video clips - they are on video lines, not the audio line

an interesting development as I proceed with the video. I guess I'm missing an integral concept here. It appears that some of my cideo clips import into the project and the segments have a blue color. These offer an option to fade in or out the audio, to mute the audio or adjust the volume.
Other vidoe clips import purple, like the still image files, and hence these do not offer any audio options, just motion objects.
So, what am I doing wrong? Why do some video clips import (purple) as image files?

  • Audio Fades

just upgraded from CS3 to CS4.
Tried doing both power and gain audio crossfade on cs3 and cs4, but nothing works. The volume is always at "max" and there is no fade.
I also tried the log fade on CS4 , but nothing.
Should "volume" always be an audio effect in every clip? Because it is and and cant figure out how to delete the effect.
    please help?!

"if you add two effects, one to the end of the first, and then one to the beginning of the second, you can achieve a silence in between. Adding a single transition between the clips won't work.
Curious, though. Why would you want such a 'dip to silence' if the video is continuous? "
can you be more specific about the effects I'm adding to both clips?
as far as why I want to do this - it's for a concert and Id like the DVD to have everything, but i am exporting audio tracks for the cd.
I suppose i could slide the clips over so there is space between them...

  • Audio fade in on iMovie

Im trying to start my movie with a black screen with text and have my audio from my first video clip start with that black screen as well, then fade into the video. how is this done?

First you need to enable the Advanced Tools in the Preferences, go to the iMovie menu > Preferences > Check Show Advanced Tools:
Try turning on the 'Waveform' button in the upper part of the iMovie window:
It sits right next to the zoom slider underneath the Project Browser in iMovie '11. And in this screenshot above it's colored in light blue when it is turned on, just click on it to toggle it on and off. Once it's turned on you'll see the audio waveform underneath your video clip like this:
In the blue area near the upper left and right corners are two little pointy 'handles' that designate how the 'fade in' and fade out rates occur. Drag the handle from the left corner towards the middle of the wave form. That will fade in the audio as the video clip is playing. But to have it 'fade in' underneath the video clip requires one more step and that requires the Precision Editor. <CTRL> + click on the video clip and choose Precision Editor.
In the lower half of the iMovie app window you'll see a timeline with the transition point between your black background and the video clip. Turn on the Audio waveform tool in this Editing window as well. In the video clip section drag the little audio offset bar in the 'waveform area' below the video clip to the left:
The amount you drag it to the left determines how quickly the audio starts while playing underneath the preceding black background you have placed on the timeline. So drag it as far as you would like. I don't know how well this will work if you have a 'cross-dissolve' transition placed between the black background and the video clip. This may not work for you if you are also using the cross dissolve to fade the video as well.

  • Imovie defaults to audio fade-in.

When I split a clip, detach audio to play over previous clip as a lead-in to the clip iMovie defaults to "fade in" on the clip. Deselecting the fade-in box is ineffective. Is there something i can do about this?
