Audio Output from Mac Pro not working in XP

I'm trying to make the audio line output of the Mac Pro work in XP. the only sound comes from the motherboard or headphones in front of the computer.
Under audio devices say "realtech HD audio device" This is the Apple mac pro?
How do I turn the audio output on?

I think I resolved this! I had the same issues you have been having for a few months. I am actually running Vista. Here is what I did...
1. While booted to Windows I uninstalled boot camp
2. Re-installed boot camp from Leopard DVD
3. Installed boot camp update 2.1 (downloaded from Apple support, i know this is for XP only, but I updated anyway.)
4. Downloaded the realtek drivers (high definition audio codecs) from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
5. DO NOT use the Realtek installer to install the drivers...instead extract the contents to a folder.
6. Go to the device manager, locate the High Definition Audio device and updated the drivers from here (point to the folder where you extracted the drivers).
I now have sound out of the rear jack!! Hope this help someone

Audio Output from Multiple Sources not working

When I have more than one audio source open i.e. VLC + skype, skype + netflix, the later fails to produce any output -- even if the former is paused. I haven't done anything none standard with my configuration in this regard.

Audio Output from Mac Mini 2010

Hello -
I purchased a mac mini 2010 this weekend for use as a home theater PC. I've got it connected to an Onkyo tx-sr604 a/v receiver via HDMI. I then pass the HDMI signal from the Onkyo to my hdtv, so I think it just passes through. For audio, I use a surround sound system. And, in case it matters, I have a second tv connected via the DVI output on the mini.
The Onkyo indicates that the audio input signal on the HDMI is PCM Multichannel. When I play movies (e.g., Netfix or DVD) or music (e.g., pandora) on the mini, I don't get any sound on the center channel in multi-channel mode. In direct mode, I only get sound in the front left and right speakers. I'd like to have normal surround sound.
Is there not a way to get 5.1 surround sound from the mini? Or, am I missing a set up or something? If I connect my receiver to the mini with the digital audio output, will I then receive digital audio?

Mike it is my understanding that if you want 5.1 Surround sound that you must connect the mini directly to the SS system and not pass the audio signal through another device.

Can make audio calls from mac pro

Realtek HD Audio: Output:OK, Input (Mic): NOT WORKING??!?!?!?!?!?!?

Hi guys,
I am going to tell you and ask for your advice the wierdest thing happens to my 14-month old Pavilion 6300 series:
- The PC has Realtek HD Audio built-in (on-board) and having the latest driver (I downloaded off from realtek.tw, latest is 5.10.0.5874)
- Before I installed that Realtek driver, I had installed Microsoft UAA Bus driver for HD Audio (version 5.10.0.5010)
- I am running Windows XP Professional SP3
When I plug in a headset (with mic of course, for skype), strange things start like this:
1. I can hear the output sound, the jack can detect which plug I plug in
2. But the INPUT (back or front) which is in my case, the MIC, DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.... Jeeze, it drives me NUT!!!
3. I have turned on ALL the volume related to "MIC" but to no avail. Even the Recording mic volume is grey-out... really no-hope?
4. I did the Hardware test, it could not detect the mic (no movement from the sound bar)
5. The headset works well on other machine!!!!
Can somebody tell me that the onboard card got a problem and I have to buy another card???

now what you can try is can try to test the MotherBoard once and if there is any issue with the onboard card then you have to replace the card.
if there is no issues with the MotherBoard then try entering device manager in safemode and uninstall the drivers once and check if its working.

Optical audio out from Mac Pro to preamp

I want to use the optical audio out to a preamp. I am finding only very high end components. Is there anything affordable?

Do you already own the Mac Pro and preamp? All you need is an S/PDIF cable. Easily attainable for ~$20 or so. If it's not that simple, what are you referring to as "very high end components" being all you can find?

Bought internal bluetooth card in 5 year old Mac Pro; not working right?

Bought internal bluetooth adaptor for my 5 year old Mac Pro. It searches for bluetooth devices, but dosn't find bluetooth devices; any advice?
I secured it interlanly with the two screws supplied. Had replacement card sent out, but same thing?
Using it with Apple Magic Mouse. I know mouse works as I tried it on friends new iMac.
Using latest Snow Leopard, and have seperate boot drive with Lion. Dosn't work on either.
Bluetooth ikon shoes in bar at top, and all software functions normally, just dosn't detect anything?

7 years of podcasts disappeared from Mac Pro, not even in trash!!??

Today I deleted podcasts while in itunes from my laptop because its my desktop machine that stores and downloads my podcasts and its annoying when my laptop starts to download a load of podcasts each time I open itunes.
Suddenly I have no podcasts on my desktop now that I have opened itunes and there is 100gig of extra free space on the drive.
Thats 7 years of podcasts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Itunes didnt give any warning upon opening on my mac pro desktop. 7years of podcasts are nowhere to be seen as if itunes decided that my desktop should be the same as my laptop and have no podcasts.
This is unbelievable!
As a safety precaution it could at least give a warning that its about to delete all my podcast files on my mac pro because this is something that was done on the laptop! But no, no warning.
And it doesnt even move them to the bin/trash so they can be dragged out.
Does anyone know how I can revert to my previous podcast list please?
There is a file called "iTunes Library 2013-11-12.itl" 13meg file which I can see in a folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries" so is there a way of getting itunes to open this file and find all my invisible podcasts?
The current iTunes library file is 1.3 meg in size due I suppose to all the podcasts being dumped.
If podcasts are manually deleted on one machine then the other machine should ask before it just decides to delete everything without being asked!!!

actually it was 140gig of podcasts that itunes decided to delete off the drive without asking or explaining!!

Audio output from Mac mini 2009

I have a 2009 Mac mini with mini dvi and mini display port outputs. Just bought an hdmi tv to use as the display. I understand audio is not supported out of the mini DVI, but what about the mini display port? I was thinking of using a mini display port to hdmi cable. Trying to avoid an additional cable for audio.

There are two 2009 Mac mini models, Early 2009 and Late 2009. I can tell you for sure that the Early '09 Mac mini does not have integrated audio from the mini-DIsplayPort. It was my understanding that the Late '09 Mac minis built in 2009 also did not have integrated audio, but those made in early 2010 did. The only way to know for sure would be to test it. Apple reports that some m-DP adapters are not adhering to the VESA standard and even Macs with integrated audio in the m-DP do not with these poorly made adapters. Apple is only recommending the Moshi and Griffin adapters.

Media Encoder From AP-Pro not working

Hi,
I'm trying to export a premiere pro file, I go through the "export settings" like normal and then "ok", it goes to "exporting data" but then doesn't go anywhere.
Normally it should access the "Adobe Media Encoder" but it does nothing. When I try to access "Adobe media encoder from the programs it comes up with the error message:
"Adobe Media Encoder.exe - Entry Point Not Found" - "The procedure entry point ??0NewHandlerInitializer@ErrorManager@config@@QAE@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library dvacore.dll".
So I'm guessing it needs reinstalling but where do I get it from? It is not in the Premiere setup files and it's not on the adobe website, only the updates are.
I'm using Windows XP and AP-Pro CS4

Just had the same problem. I have had cs2 cs3 and cs4 on the same PC Windows XP Pro.
The exact error message as the o.p. was appearing during export from Premier and when opening Encore.
I was able to resolve this issue after weeks by simply ...
Close all Adobe programs and restart computer.
Go to Windows>Control Panel>Adobe Version Cue CS4
Adobe Version Cue Server window will appear.
Make sure your firewall is not blocking Version Cue or Adobe Updater.
Click Updates tab.
Click "Check for Updates" button.
Adobe Updater will connect with the update server. Click Details.
Checkmark Media Encoder and Photoshop Media Encoder.
Download the latest Adobe Media Encoder updates.
Im finally encoding right now so Im not stopping to look at the update version, lol. but my current version of Media Encoder is now 4.2.0.006

Home Sharing from Mac mini not working to Apple TV anymore

Hi there,
My Mac mini (2010 version) is being used as a home theatre. I have been able to connect to my Mac mini through the "Shared" tab in the Finder on my iMac and MacBook Pro along with my Apple TV through Home Sharing on iTunes, up until yesterday.
When I try accessing my Mac mini shared folder in Finder, it just says "Connecting" for a very long time, before it tells me "Connection Failed."
On my Apple TV, which is a big problem because my entire iTunes library feeds my Apple TV, it just doesn't show up anymore at all.
Are there any solutions to any of these problems?

have you tried rebooting your mini ?
you also might want to try booting into _*safe mode*_, repairing permissions using *disk utility* while in it, then rebooting normally.

Duel displays Mac pro not working properly

I have a MacPro Tower that I bought 4 years ago that was running OS 10.5.x. I *just* finally got around to upgrading the OS (I've had Snow Leopard discs for over a year and never installed them), so that's what I upgraded to. I have two displays connected to the system: a 23" Apple Display and a 20" Acer.
I was running with both displays before the upgrade just fine, and after initially upgrading to 10.6.3 my mouse was easily going back and forth between the two screens, but just ran the upgrade to 10.6.8 and now my mouse is "stuck" in the Acer screen and won't move over to my Apple Display - and the Apple Display is the one that has all the open windows and menus.
I tried unplugging and replugging in my displays and restarting the problem remains.
Any ideas for a solution?

Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
If resetting SMC does not help, MacBook Pro should be taken to the Apple store for service.

Lightroom 4.3 on a Mac Pro not working under my user name

I have recently installed Lightroom 4.3 on a MacPro, Mountain Lion, 8GB RAM, environment. I kept getting the following error when changing to the "Slideshow" module: 'An error occurred when attempting to change modules'. I followed the advice given here and the application now works well under a new user name. However, I don't want to have to log in under this name everytime I want to use Lightroom. How can I find out what's wrong with my own user profile? Any help would be appreciated.

If you see a red light in the audio output port, then the internal switch is stuck. Insert the earphone plug a few times and see if you can trip the switch. If that fails, insert a cocktail stirrer and the like and jiggle it around inside. If that fails, take it to an Apple store and have the technicians at the genius bar do it for you.
