Audio/web conferencing feature

Is there a way to integrate telephone and web users with ConnectNow which will allow both sides to communicate.  I have been running into problems where my web users can hear eveyone who is on telephone and on the web.  However, my telephone users can only hear those who have called in and not the web users.  Is there a way to close the circle which will allow everyone to hear everyone regardless of what method they are using?  Will a that-2 solve this problem?

That is normal.  Today, Universal Voice inside Connect is a one way stream. It is not two way as there is no two bridge that connects the two systems.
Universal Voice lets participants decide whether they want to dial in or listen over their computer speakers. However, Universal Voice version 7.5 creates a one-way bridge from the telephone conference to VoIP, so anything said over the telephone can be heard by all partici- pants, but anything said using VoIP is heard only by those on VoIP.
See this page that describes the technology:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatconnectpro/pdfs/adobe_audio_connect_wp_v3.pdf
That may change going forward but today it is a one way listen only kind of solution.  Would be best to have everyone join the audio conference if they need to collaborate in two way conversations.  Besides, VOIP can be very spotty depending on network configurations (like using VOIP on a non-optimized network).

  • Streaming audio, web hosting, scripts for streaming?

    Hello all,
Back several years ago, it seemed all the big web hosts
    featured "streaming
audio and video" as a feature of their hosting plans at some
    dollar amount. You
know, once you elevated to the $19.95 a month plan at XYZ
    host, your website
    could stream audio or video.
I don't see that anywhere in web hosts monthly plans any
    longer at any dollar
amount. Anyway I have a client who sells her own music, and I
    have been trying
to find a web host that supports streaming audio, mp3, etc. I
    checked with 1
and 1 (webhost) and they responded as follows:
"Basically our eshop can support streaming but it would be
    through
scripts only. So, it would be in your end to do those
    matters."
I have no idea what that actually means. And I realize I
    could just send the
guy a note and ask him, but I figured I would get a more
    comprehensive and
valuable answer here since I use Dreamweaver. By "script" are
    they talking
about something like Flash Audio Kit? I am confused by the
    whole thing now. I
thought it was as simple as looking for a hosting plan that
    supported streaming.
I use Dreamweaver 8, Windows, if that matters for this
    question.
    Thanks a million!
    Tim

Thank you for responding but I finally got it to work.

  • Web conferencing issues, thanks

    Hi,
I don't know how many of you have done a web conferencing system using JMF. I'm currently working on it but I have addressed some problems. I'd like to hear your suggestions.
The system uses C/S structure and the client uses WebStart. I tried the RTP solutions provided by Sun but I think they are more suitable for P2P.
    1. For the video transmission, I capture the camera every 0.5 minute and save to JPEG photos. Then the photos are uploaded to the server. All the other member clients in the conference room download the photos and restore them into a movie. But in this solution there is time delay. Any better ones?
    2. For the audio transmission, I have no idea how to do it...
    3. Is it better to use a streaming server? I mean, what is the normal architecture for this kind of system? I've installed Darwin Streaming Server but I can't find a way to communicate with it via JMF. If there are some existing solutions, can you please give me the links or sample code?
    4. I find that it looks like flash is more popular is this area. Is it possible to use flash in my Java client side? I read the document of Red5 but looks like the client is mainly web page.
Sorry I know I have too many questions here. I have done the research for almost two weeks but still get blocked. So I hope you can help me out here. Thanks in advance!
    Alex in Sweden

The system uses C/S structure and the client uses WebStart. I tried the RTP solutions provided by Sun but I think they are more suitable for P2P.You can certainly use RTP for a client-to-server application. It's suitable for any kind of transport.
    1. For the video transmission, I capture the camera every 0.5 minute and save to JPEG photos. Then the photos are uploaded to the server. All the other member clients in the conference room download the photos and restore them into a movie. But in this solution there is time delay. Any better ones? You stream the video via RTP to a server, and that server uses the incoming stream as the source for outgoing streams to all of the participants of the video conference...
    2. For the audio transmission, I have no idea how to do it...My proposal for #1 handles audio as well.
    3. Is it better to use a streaming server? I mean, what is the normal architecture for this kind of system? I've installed Darwin Streaming Server but I can't find a way to communicate with it via JMF. If there are some existing solutions, can you please give me the links or sample code? You do need a streaming server, but you can easily write your own for this application. It's what I like to call a "bounce server" because it just bounces the stream to whoever wants to see it.
    4. I find that it looks like flash is more popular is this area. Is it possible to use flash in my Java client side? I read the document of Red5 but looks like the client is mainly web page.Ummmm, no. Red5 is a good freeware Flash Media Server that's capable of doing this video conference application. Adobe Flex is a free API you can use to develope desktop applications or web applications (and thus you would have a Flash-based application that would be running outside of a web browser, transmitting the A/V to the Red5/Flash Media server)

  • Web Conferencing - Online Meetings & Presentations

With so many tools for web conferencing (online meetings and presentations) available, Im totally confused about choosing a software/ hardware combination appliance for my office. Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who might have used one and recommend!!!

I admit that with the vast amount of service providers available today, its not always easy to find the one that best fills the bill for your particular web conferencing needs. Frankly speaking about my personal experience that I have been using RHUB Web Conferencing myself and it has been excellent in fulfilling my needs of web conferencing. This web conferencing appliance is installable behind your firewall and features screen sharing, annotation/whiteboard, remote control. It is available from http://www.rhubcom.com/. Try it.

  • Web Conferencing question

I have a question about web conferencing. We are looking for a product that would allow us to do a desktop sharing for remote support purposes and web conferencing seems to have that capability.
I'd like to install a test instance of the collaboration suite + web conferencing and I have a few questions about it:
    1. Does the web conferencing require release-2 of the Collaboration suite, or release-1 will be Ok as well?
    2. The web conferencing download exists only for Windows, and downloadable only when I chose Solaris platform. Will it (this download) work with the rest of the software (Collaboration suite) installed on a different server (e.g. Linux or Windows)?
If we decide to buy it, do we need to install this on Windows, or the installation exists for another platform (e.g. Linux or HPUX)?
    3. The download includes both Application Server and Web Conferencing as two separate options. do I need to have download server?
    4. If I am looking ONLY for web conferencing capabilities, which pieces of software in Collaboration suite do I HAVE TO install?
    Thanks.
    Alex.

It is worth noting that the Windows download also includes the Voice Conversion server. This part of Web Conferencing runs only on Windows and provides support for streaming audio from a phone conference to attendees in a web conference as well as recording the voice data with the web conference data for later playback.
However, this functionality requires special Dialogic hardware and a dedicated T1 phone line so it is typically not deployed for pilot instances.
As far as the three required components (OCS infrastructure, OCS midtier, and OCS storage database), there is no requirement that they run on a single platform, although that is often most convenient. The current Oracle deployment of Web Conferencing is running a mixture of Linux, Solaris, and HP-UX... soon to be all Linux.

  • HP Smart Web Printing feature, problem with IE7 and FireFox3

"HP Smart Web Printing" problem with Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox 3I have a laptop that came with: Windows Vista Home Premium, Internet Explorer 7, FireFox 1.9. Everything worked fine.
Recently I bought a "HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-One" printer that came with a free software "HP Smart Web Printing".
Smart Web Printing worked fine with FireFox 1.9 browser. I liked it very much, because with it, I could print only the portions from the web page that I want, thus saving on inks. It really does more than that.
With IE 7, Smart Web Printing was a disaster. IE 7 stopped working. Every time I closed a web browser window, IE7 would stop working and start all over again. It happened all the time.
On suggestion from Microsoft Windows help desk I "Reset IE Setting". This solved the IE 7 problem , but it also removed the Smart Web Printing feature.
Next, one day I downloaded latest version of FireFox browser "FireFox 3". Once again I lost the Smart Web Printing Feature, because it was not compatible with FireFox 3.
Now here I am with no "Smart Web Printing" feature at all.
Any suggestion how can I get "Smart Web Printing" feature back. I love the feature
    Thanks

March 27th 2009 I've just downloaded HP Smart Web Print onto an HP a6500f desktop system running Vista-64.  I first installed it as a limited user and I get no icon in the IE7 taskbar.  I examined the manage add-ons dialog and it was installed but the toolbar configuration has no control icon for SWP icon.
Then I logged off and logged on as a privileged user and downloaded again and tried to install.  This 2nd installation actually REMOVED my first installation.
So I then downloaded for a third time and installed and it finished installing but there was no SWP icon in the tool bar.  I examined the Manage Add-Ons dialog and saw one in there on the left side.  I transfered the inactive icon to the active side of the dialog and then I immediately had TWO SWP icons in the task bar. (*mumble grumble*).  So I removed one and all is OK now as long as I use the IE7 as a privileged user.
If I go back to being a limited user (not an unreasonable thing to do is it?) I don't have an SWP icon.  Trying to install SWP application again only cause it to want to remove the existing installation.
I'm not very impressed with this behavior.
Is there anything that can be done to get SWP to work for limited users?

  • How to hide "View in Browser" and "Edit in Browser" from ECB injected by Office Web Apps Feature

    Hi,
i am currently using custom_AddDocLibMenuItems to implement a custom ECB menu for my document library. I need to activate Office Web Apps. My custom_AddDocLibMenuItems has two items
    -> custom dialog
-> open in office web apps
After activating the Office Web Apps Feature at the SiteCollection Level, this Feature "injects" in my custom menu the following
    additional menu items:
    -> View in Browser
    -> Edit in Browser
Its curious to see that, cause implementing the js function custom_AddDocLibMenuItems with
return true should be the way to impolement a custom ECB menu without having other features/solutions injecting things in this menu!? Or did i misunderstood something here?
My question is: How can i prevent this ...
    a) without deactivating the Office Web Apps Feature
    b) without modifying the core.js
    I hope someone can help!

  • How to include non web pages to the "Create PDF from Web Page" feature?

In Acrobat Pro (v. 10), when I use the "Create PDF from Web Page" feature, it works great for html pages, but it skips non-html links (doc, pdf, ppt, xls, etc). I need Acrobat Pro to convert those files and put them in the order as well. I don't see an option for this in settings. Is there ANY way I can do this? This is for an archiving purpose and I have 10,000 plus files to convert. Please help.

This is a question i'm trying to answer too. My issue is that I have a PDF file which itself contains links to both DOC and PDF files. The end result is that I need one consolidated PDF containing all the linked files (in order).
I can run the "create from web page" on this PDF file, and it'll download them, but not convert them. It just adds them as "jumbled" text to the end of the document. I need it to download, convert, and then append them.
So, as isunshine3 asked above, any way to have Adobe convert the files that it finds linked when running the "create from web page"?
    THanks
    Matt

  • Best Practice for Maintaining a web scoped feature

I am in the process of creating a web scoped feature that creates a few lists and some event recievers for those lists.
My plan was to have the lists created on feature activating. This way, users can simply activate the feature if they want to take advantage of this functionality on a site by site basis.
While trying to flesh out this idea, I realized that if we ever need to make changes to this feature in the future, we'll likely have to uninstall and reinstall the solution.  After uninstalling/reinstalling the solution, the feature will
no longer be active on any site by default. This means that all of those users who were using the functionality will have to go in and re-activate the feature to continue using the event recievers.
What I'd like to happen is that the sites that had this feature activated, still have the feature activated after I uninstall and reinstall the solution. Those sites that didn't have the feature active, still dont' have the feature activated.
I know that there is the option to update a solution, which will do what I want, but updating is limited in that I cannot add additional items to the solution.  Which means eventually I'll have to uninstall and reinstall.
Is there a good way to go about this?

If you are modifying or expanding the features, then your best option would be using Feature upgrade

    >> know that there is the option to update a solution, which will do what I want, but updating is limited in that I cannot add additional items to the solution.  Which means eventually I'll have to uninstall and reinstall.
Yes this is correct. Update solution works only for same set of files and features in the existing solution. If there is any change then you have to retract and deploy the new solution.

  • Application doesn't update in web conferencing

I tried to share a graphics application, ProductView, in Web Conferencing. It worked at first, but the graphics portion does not update at the shared sites.
This product probably uses Open/GL to display its graphics. Is there a limitation in Web Conferencing application sharing?
    David

The problem was I forgot to include one of the .jar files in the .jnlp file. The application started but immediately finished because it couldnt find the second jar. Java console has the same behavior and this is why I couldnt see the message in the console.
    Thank you anyway!

  • Pc-to-pc audio/video conferencing

I've been looking into the ability of a direct (secure) connection from one Linux machine to another for the purposes of audio/video conferencing.  I know there's stull like ekiga but that requires an account and a third party server.  I'm looking for a solution that would be completely maintained between the two or three linux machines directly (webcam/mic).  What's out there that I'm not seeing in google?

Also interested, been meaning to move away from Skype for a time now. I've looked/asked around and found opensips. You'll still need a client to manage calls though, I'll probably try out Twinkle. I'm going to spend some time trying to set it up myself. Hope it helps.
Edit Note: I quickly moved from twinkle to linphone.

Can data be passed to an external web server using the "in-course web browsing" feature in ver. 7? I would like to display a simple web page, and I would like to pass to that web page the answers to all the quiz questions, quiz score, etc. In other words, instead of passing quiz results to a SCORM-compliant LMS like Moodle, I'd like to pass that data to a Drupal Webform using a URL like:

  • Problems with Java and Web conferencing

I need to use a Web conferencing system that does not require a download. I tried using one that uses Java but several of my clients had problems because their JVM was not compatible or they did not have a JVM installed. The GoMeetNow system has a mode they call Universal Attendance there is no requirement of any download whatsoever. This will sure do the job for you.
