Authorization of different project profiles to different users

Dear Experts,
i have different project profiles which are to be assigned to different users. can any body tell how to restrict one user from using the profile other than the profile assigned to him.
Any pointers on this will be highly aprreciated.
A bit urgent Please.

I think whatever profiles are assigned in SU01D for a user, he will only have access to that profiles and for the other profiles user will get No Authorization Message

if you're working on SAP ECC 6.00 / SAP Netweaver, you can use the following ABAP keyword extension:
AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT <object> FOR USER <user-id>
This comes up, when using the online keyword help.
If you're working on an SAP release below ECC 6.00, you can use the following function module instead:

Is it possible to give seperate authorizations for different users

Hi all,
I have a requirement in crystal reports.
I have created parameters for city and calmonth.
There are 5 cities for example chennai,mumbai patna,agra,bangalore.
For that single calmonth is there as jun2010.
I have done the report. In info view i want ony the chennai city guy to see only the chennai report.
Like wise each city guy should see only their respective reports.
In parameters while drill down i can see all the cities but i want only the respective city user to see only that report.
So if the chennai city guy drill downs he has to see only chennai city
so do you think is it possible to give authorizations like that?
can any one help where can i do it either in crystal reports by writing some logic or in INFOVIEW by giving some authorizations or in BW?

As I said it is much more efficient to implement row level security in the BW itself. Fetching ALL data in the CR reports first and then doing the record selection is not recommended because:
1) You introduce additional security risk in your organization by ignoring data souce security settings.
2) You fetch much more data that you really need in your report and you let the CR report engine do the work. SAP BW can process mass data more efficiently than the CR engine. CR is optimized for displaying data.
3) You may violate the license agreement of your SAP BW system by providing BW data to more users than licensed.

Assigning different authorizations inside a role to different users

Hello,
Could someone please guide me to how can we assign different authorizations (authorizations field values) for an authorization object inside a role to different users; i.e. in the role maintenance transaction (pfcg) after we create a new role and add an authorization object to it, if this authorization object has several authorizations (authorization field values), and if I need to add two users to that role, how can I assign to one user an authorization different from that assigned to the other user ?

Hi Reda,
That documentation complicates the subject slightly as it is talking about principles that are at a lower level than the usual role level.
We have 1 authorisation object - S_TRVL_BKS
Authorisations have been created for this object, called S_TRVL_CUS1 and S_TRVL_CUS2
In this context, an authorisation is an instance of an authorisation object that has been populated with data.
Before the profile generator you used to create authorisations (auth objects populated with data) and assign them to profiles which are then assigned to users.
In this example 2 profiles would be needed
Profile1: S_TRVL_CUS1 and S_TRVL_CUS2
Profile2: S_TRVL_CUS2
Miller would be assigned profile1, Meyers would be assigned profile2
The profile generator allows us to easily build authorisations and profiles and packages them up in a role. This way, we can assign transactions and authorisation objects into a role, populate the authorisations (which is what we do in the authorisations tab in the role) and automatically create the profile.
The example in the documentation is still valid because it requires 2 seperate authorisations (and therefore profiles and roles) to be assigned to different people. Unfortunately this is not explained very well in the documentation.
I hope that makes sense, roles are static and the permissions that they give do not vary dynamically. In BW we can use variables to do something similar and to some extent structural authorisations in HR work dynamically however this doesn't apply to R/3 or ECC. (it can be done in come cases but costs many, many £££/$$$'s)

I was wonder how two different users on the same machine can
share project libraries. Some Context:
My daughter has some finished projects in her project library and
I either want to import those project into my library or share them
so both user accounts can access the projects (similar to how the

You need to move each project to the external drive from within iMovie. Be sure to use command-drag so you move, not copy.

Different user status profile for network header and activities

Hi everyone!
Is there any way to define different user status profile at network header level and at network activity level? As far as I know, it is only possible to enter a user profile at network type level, and both netwok headers and activities use the same statuses. Does it work this way?

I've gone through the OPSC, but the thing is that here you define a user status profile at network plant level. But I need to define it at network activity level.
The reason why I need this is because we have types of activities. We use network activities for client activities, for internal activities, to identify and follow-up risk management, etc. Each group of activities -since they have different usages- has different user status associated. But as I don't have any way to assign different user status profiles, all the activities have the same statuses, although they will only use some of them.

How to change the theme in the default profile so new users get a different theme

How can I change the theme (background picture, etc) for the default profile, so that when new users log in and get a new profile created, they get a different theme than the one they currently receive?

If you want to get a different theme for new users, based on my understanding, it’s not easy, we can load the specific theme for all user because we can control OS to load this specific theme file.
The default location of theme file is:
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
To configure OS load different theme for different user, I think this cannot be controlled by a registry key. It’s complicated to make OS choose different theme pack for different user, even more, the theme pack files are limited.

Same color profile looks different on different users

My main user account displays colors differently than the other accounts I have on my iMac. I've eliminated all custom Colorsync profiles from the Library folders of the user accounts, so all users are using the standard iMac profile. There is a very clear difference when viewing the same TIFF or Photoshop files with the same applications but from different user accounts. For what it's worth, my main account displays much higher contrast than the other accounts.
I'm not sure what is making my main account behave differently from the others, but I'd like to get rid of it. (I removed two com.apple.ColorSync*.plist files from my main account Preferences folder, but this had no effect.) Anyone have any ideas?

You may well be better off asking in the Panther forums as the users there may have more specific ColorSync experience.

Yes, but when I bought my standalone license and clicked on the "Download" button it took me to the LightroomCC page. The downloaded file is named Lightroom 6, but in the CC app the installed program is LightroomCC (2015).

How to reset all Internet Explorer 8 settings for a different user profile?

Sometimes users on locked down PCs that need their IE settings reset to resolved issues such as improper/old cached credentials stored in the browser after a password change etc. These issues can be resolved by opening
Internet Options, Advanced tab, Reset, Delete All, Reset.
The users cannot do this because the Advanced Tab is hidden by policy. If an administrator logs in with a different account, of course, anything they change is in their profile and not the user's profile.
Is there some way for an administrator user to log in and access Internet Control Panel settings for a different user's Internet Options so they can reset the browser for a limited user?
We need a more streamlined way to do this instead of needing to either blow away the user's entire Windows profile or else go through the convoluted process of getting the GPO admins to undo the group policy for one user to unhide the tab, have the help
desk reset the browser for the user and then have the GPO admins reapply the original policy.

How to create different users in a unique project?

We are able to create different users in security manager,but it is not possible to grant privileges accordingly.According to our requirement we need different users with different granting privileges so that our work should be secured.After login with different user we are getting the below error

I am also receiving this same error and I'm not sure what you mean by granting the users the correct access to the Topology items. I mistakenly deleted the CONNECT profile and I have re-created it with all of the same objects it had in it before but it is not letting my users in and fails with this same error..
However, the supervisor and the any of us admins that are marked as supervisors can still get in no issues..
Please help!

Same colour profile, but different users have different colour output!

Installed Snow Leopard on a new Mac mini. Migrated two users from a Leopard install, made one fresh user.
Sticking with the default profile for my monitor (HP 2159m), the freshly-made user matches the colour at the login window. The two migrated users, despite having the same profile selected, show darker colour than this. What gives?!
Tried the guest account, and that matched the login window too. Can only assume this is a preferences issue or something, but having deleted some likely-looking plists (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ColorSyncCalibrator.plist, ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ColorSyncUtility.plist and some .GlobalPreferences files in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/), nothing has changed. These two users still have odd colour.
You can watch it change. The new user will stay the same from the login window while the Finder loads, but for the migrated users the colour noticeably darkens immediately after the login window disappears. I'll reiterate: System Preferences claims they've all got the same profile selected.
Any ideas?

In case anyone else finds this, I discovered the root of my problem.
The users with the odd, inconsistent colour profiles had got "Increase Contrast" turned on in Universal Access. Both only slightly, both by the same amount. Highly suspicious, as I know these different users had not changed this setting. Wonder if it's a migration problem. Anyway, colour is now consistent.

Book is Licensed to a Different User Account - AUTHORIZATION PROBLEM

Getting the error message... Document is Licensed to a different user Account after I authorized ADE (which prompted me to do after using the software for several months). So I have already de-authorized and still getting message. I am using Snow Leopard on a Mac. Many of the books are from school downloads. What is the fix?... very frustrated as I am trying to do homework.

Opening the WebCase turned out to be good advice (I think), although I can't be sure to what extent it was responsible for what happened. I received a form-type letter from Adobe by email. It contained instructions which I was unable to comply with fully in the order presented, but I carried out those steps which were possible, de-authorizing with Cmd-Shift-D the old version of Digital Editions (which I had previously restored without solving the problem). I then opted to Upgrade once more next time I started DE. (under Macintosh OS X 10.4 BTW). Everything went smoothly. It didn't ask for my AdobeID nor require that I authorize the newly installed version manually this time. (On my first attempt it had left me with no option but to start a new AdobeID since the online component refused to recognize my email address. The new (and apparently different) ID is what made it incompatible with my ebooks).
I do know by now that my original problem was caused by not knowing the original AdobeID (if indeed I was ever issued with one). I still can't find it, but at least I am no worse off than I was before upgrading. I am not sure if my new AdobeID will work if I ever try to upgrade again, but at least I now know what the problem is and how to fix it if it doesn't.
My advice to others experiencing similar problems: Remain positive. Don't give up. There is good relevant advice in thread "Error: document licensed for a different user account" (IIRC). Start your own Web Case if you reach a dead end.

Copy contact into different user profile

I have a Tungsten T5 with contacts under one user name, and just got Centro (ATT) with a different user name. How do I copy the contact over to the new user name so that I can HotSync on the same computer?

If you are syncing both devices with the Palm Desktop, you could just do the usual copy and paste ops of the contacts from you T5's username to the centro's.
