Authorization with Apple ID

I have two Apple IDs. When I try to sync my ipod with itunes on my iMac, I am getting a message to authorize this computer, or songs purchased under my alternate Apple ID would be deleted. However, when I try to authorize using my alternate Apple ID, I keep getting a message that "itunes store is not available at this time. Try again later" I have confirmed I am running the latest version of itunes, and I have changed my password. Any suggestions?

Is it possible you had computer you got rid if that you did not deauthorize.
You can open iTunes, click on the iTunes store in the left, then click on your account (your email addres in the upper left of your iTunes bar)
There you can access your account, see what devices are authorized, as well as manage them, check your purchases.  Along with computers, iPod touch, iPads, iPhones also count as devices.

I run my business with Apple Computers and own more than 20. I personally use more than 5 devices both at home and at the office but can't "authorize" more than 5. Is there anyway around this problem? Thanks

Use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article, or if it isn't an option, the 'contact iTunes Store support' link at the bottom of it.

  • Can I authorize 2 apple IDs on one computer?

I'm new to the communities so please bear with me if I post this inappropriately.
My husband and I both have iphones.  My two children have itouchs.  My husband has an ipad.  We also have numerous ipods.
We have two computers in the house.  When my husband first bought an ipod, we had a PC.  All of his devices have always been synced on the PC using his apple id.  When I got my iphone, I synced on our MAC using my apple id.  When the kids got itouches, they synced on the MAC using their apple id.
We discovered that anything the kids and I purchased on itunes on the MAC is available to all of us.
We would now like to use home sharing.  To do this, both computers must be authorized to one apple id.  If the PC is deauthorized for my husband's apple id, I understand he will lose his purchases on the PC (or at least they won't be available until he authorizes it again).
I understand that an apple id may be authorized on up to 5 computers.  But what about multiple apple id on one computer???
    My questions are basically this...
Can we authorize 2 or more apple id on one computer?
Can I authorize my apple id on the PC and have my husband's apple id remain authorized on the PC?
Can my husband's apple id be authorized on the MAC and my apple id remain authorized?
Can the kids apple id be authorized on each of the PC and the MAC?
Can we have 4 different apple id authorized on a computer at once?
Will authorizing my apple id on the PC de-authorize my husband's apple id?
How's that for asking the same question in lots of different ways?  I have seen a lot about a computer using the same id multiple times but nothing about whether I can authorize many different ids on one computer at once.
    Thanks for the help.

Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
For this all to work well, however, each user in your household should have a separate user account on the computer they commonly use.

My wife has a laptop and an iphone 4s, I have a laptop and and iphone 4s, our two sons have our old iphone 3s, we have an old laptop for our sons to use.  Our old iphones for our sons are deactivated as phones - so they are used as i-touches for songs, pictures and aps.  I want to use icloud (which I'm new to) to hopefully have all four iphones and all three computers stay synced with at least music - if not aps and pictures.  My wife has an apple ID and I have one.  I'd like to authorize all three laptops for both apple IDs so that we will still have our own accounts, but everything either of us buys will be automatically loaded into all three laptops and all four iphones.  Can this be done?
    Thanks,

  • We need a new section entitled:  Issues With Apple Customer Service

"This Feedback about the Discussions forum is intended for questions about how to use Apple Discussions and for general constructive feedback about how the Discussions system is operating or how it may be improved. Please use this forum appropriately. Failure to do so may result in your posting privileges to this forum being disabled.

Alright, I have a suggestion for improvement. We need a new forum section for complaints about the way Apple is treating us.
To make sure I'm being clear, let me give you an example of just such a post that may be included in such a section.
I ordered online the family packs of Leopard, iWork '08 and iLife '08 on November 6th. I received an email telling me my order had been shipped on November 7th.
On November 9th I decided to check the progress of my shippment by logging on to FedEx. To my surprise, it had been delivered! Not to me but another party. I could download a PDF from FedEx and see the signature.
After trying to deal with FedEx for a few days I was finally told to deal with Apple because they would have to initiate the investigation. Fine. These things happen.
On 11/13/2007 I spoke with an Apple Customer Service Representative and received an Apple Issue Number and Case Number. I was told that it should be resolved in a few days. It wasn't.
11/20/2007, Here's where it gets interesting. In talking with them again I explained that since my signature was not on the FedEx ticket it had not been delivered properly if at all. I explained that since FedEx was clearly at fault the package should be shipped again. Finally they agreed. I was told that my package would be shipped and to expect an email.
11/23/2007, I was told again that nothing would be shipped until after an investigation had been completed. So did they lie? I spoke with a manager who kept repeating that he was sorry for the mis-communication. That became very frustrating to say the least. Remember, FedEx requires a signature. Without it or my permission to deliver somewhere else they must deliver to me and get my signature. The FedEx PDF clearly shows another persons signature.
Equally frustrating is the fact that they will not keep me informed as to the status. I have to call them and wait on hold. I did get a couple of emails with text along the lines of, "We continue to work with our carrier on your lost package. "
However, there is no way to reply to these form letters. The only way to stay in touch with Apple is to call and be put on hold.
Twice, after giving them my order number and being put on hold "while they look up my records" or whatever, the call was disconnected. I'm not saying they did so on purpose but the results were the same. Another call, another round of giving my order number and explaining to yet again a new person the details of the situation.
I've had many problems with Apple since becoming a customer in June of 2006 but I just can't let this go. I need a place to warn others. If you buy something, you might be better off buying it from a store instead of on-line. This kind of information is needed to warn others concerning the business practices of Apple should something go wrong. This is why we need a new section for putting forth such complaints.

It seems to me that the real problem here is with FedEx, as I have encountered similar types of problems with them in the past. Even though a signature is required, I have had packages left on my porch. When I enquired, someone had actually signed (i.e.forged) my name! Other times it has been left on my porch with some other signature. When I call to complain, FedEx just seems to think there is no problem as long as I got my package. They seem totally unconcerned even though a signature is required and I definitely did not authorize delivery with no signature. I have expressed my concerns directly to Apple, but have no way of knowing if it has done any good. I think this problem is worse with FedEx ground, as that is contracted out. Around here anyway, i think the drivers will sign the ticket and leave the package just so they won't have to make another trip. It's not right, and it's not supposed to happen this way, but i know it does.
Apple entrusted your package to FedEx in good faith that it would be delivered to you, and that your signature would be required for you to receive it. That should have resulted in you receiving it. however, due to a false signature, you did not. Clearly, FedEx is responsible.
If the package was supposedly delivered to your address, but has a false signature, I wonder if the driver might have signed the delivery ticket or gotten someone else to sign it and just left it on your porch or something like that. If so, it could have been subsequently stolen. If something like this happened, it might explain why things are so bogged down in the investigation at Apple. From their viewpoint, the package was delivered and a signature was obtained and they are probably being stonewalled by FedEx.
A user to user discussion forum such as Apple Discussions won't help with delivery problems. It's best to report them directly to Apple as you have done. If you continue to have problems, you can call Apple and ask to speak to Apple Customer Relations. They may well be able to cut through the red tape. You could also express your concern in the "Feedback to Apple" section. Maybe if enough people complain, they might consider awarding the shipping contract to someone else. Or perhaps the other shippers are even worse.
One of my recent shipments was evidently lost in a typhoon. But when I called Apple, a replacement was sent out immediately. This is more what I would expect of Apple, and you have every right to expect similar treatment.
If FedEx delivered to the wrong address and got a wrong signature, they should be expected to go back and retrieve the package. But if they delivered to your address and did not get your signature, then you would be well within your rights to go to your local Better Business Bureau and file a complaint against FedEx. That might possibly get some action of some sort. FedEx cannot ignore the BBB as easily as they can ignore you. If your signature was actually forged, you will certainly be able to prove that the signature on the delivery ticket is definitely not yours. And you could forward the BBB complaint to Apple. I don't know if this would help or just muddy the water, but it would put a little more pressure on FedEx I would think.
In the meantime, I would certainly speak to Apple Customer Relations and see if they can help you out here. They want happy Apple customers, and I think they would like to know about the extreme frustrations you are experiencing through no fault of your own.
I sympathize with your problems, and I hope that you are able to get them resolved soon.
    Good luck!

You can still deauthorize an individual computer from the iTunes Menus.
You can de-authorize only once a year 'all' computers from your iTunes account page.

  • Travel with Apple TV - Wireless Bridge?

I travel extensively and travel with Apple TV, MacBook Pro, iPhone, and iPad2. After losing about 10 Apple Remotes, I now try to use my iPhone or iPad as the remote to my Apple TV. In fact, it's better than the Apple Remote!
All is wonderful as long as the hotel uses ethernet to connect to the internet. If that's the case, I plug the ethernet cable into my MacBook Pro and create an ad hoc network to share the connection to the other devices, making them all on the same network.
If the hotel only has wireless connections, it only works for one device. I can share the wireless connection through my MacBook Pro, but then I can only plug in the Apple TV, thus not being able to use the Remote application for my iPhone or iPad.
I've been looking at Wireless Bridges. I asked at the Apple Store if the Airport Express or Extreme would work and was told it would not. Does anyone know if a wireless bridge would work? I would bridge the wireless connection to the ethernet port of my MacBook Pro, then share the ethernet back out wirelessly.
    Suggestions/ideas?

There is only one account created on this computer, so that makes it the admin. account, right?
Even if your user account has admin privileges, apps don't run as administrator by default. You have to authorize it with your password for that to happen. If you right-click on the iTunes icon, there should be a "Run as Administrator" option in the popup menu.

  • My terrible experience with Apple's costumer service (PLEASE READ)

I have been a loyal customer with Apple and iTunes for about 6 years now. Being a lover of music I always tried to avoid downloading it off the Internet because I believed in supporting the artists and supporting things like iTunes for selling their music in a fast convenientway. About 2 months ago my younger brother wanted to start buying content off of iTunes on our family account, but couldn't because there were already 5 computers authorized on it even though there should only be 4. We looked through all of our old computers but couldn't find the one that was still authorized and not being used. We tried to de-authorize all the computers on the account but we're told that we had to wait a year before doing so (which by the way is extremely inconvenient and completely pointless in my opinion). In order to fix this problem I decided to create my own account so that my brother could take my place on the family one. After a couple of days of buying/listening to music on my new account I ran into a problem. About 500 of my songs plus a lot of other content could no longer be used because I was no longer authorized on the account that I bought them on. Being an optimistic person I assumed that Apple/iTunes customer support/service would be able to fix the problem easily. I went to the site and found it difficult to find any information relating to my problem or to find a number I could call. When I finally found a number I called it and to my surprise found myself having to speak commands to a machine (which by the way is the last thing people want to deal with when they need assistance, and it is very frustrating). It took me 7 tries to finally get through to someone because the machine had no idea what I wanted and kept hanging up on me. I talked with a customer service representative and explained the situation to him. I then asked him if he could possibly de-authorize all the computers on our family account, and he said that he could not and provided no explanation as to why. So then I asked him if he could transfer the content that I paid for on the family account to my new account and he said no. Finally I asked him if there was anything he or I could do to fix the problem and the only thing he suggested was that I'll just have to buy all the content again on my new account. I told him that was about 500 songs, 10 TV series, 10 movies, 9 audio books, and about 25 apps, which would probably cost around $1000. But he just repeated that there was nothing he could do. I was so disappointed with the lack of helpfulness from their customer service and with the way I was treated that I will no longer purchase music, movies, TV series, or anything that isn't an app from the iTunes store. I spent about 5 days replacing every song I could no longer listen to by downloading off the Internet. I even had to delete some of the songs because I could not find a downloadable version. They have officially lost a loyal iTunes customer and I hope this complaint will open their eyes a little. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I realize the number I called was not for iTunes store support, but I thought that they would at least be able to help me or point me in the right direction.
Sorry, you knew that the number you called was not for iTunes Store support, but then you got upset because they couldn't help you? That seems rather unfair of you in my view. Not being party to the conversation and hearing what was said, I can't address the second issue of why they weren't able to point you to the form. Perhaps they did and you just missed it.
Again, this post will convey nothing to anyone who can do anything about it. If you just want to comment to Apple, use their feedback pages:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
If you want actual assistance from the iTunes Store, contact them via the form I linked to above. There is, again, no phone support for the iTunes Store. You can express your desire for such phone service to Apple via the feedback page, but it's highly unlikely that Apple will ever find it cost-effective to provide that.
    Regards.

  • I can't get my updates from the app store, my email doesn't after i changed it with apple

I updated email with apple but I cant access updates beause the email posted is the old email address

The issue is that you didn't change the email in your old Apple ID, you used the new email address to create a new Apple ID. Content is always forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. The only way you will ever be able to re-download, update and authorize use of the content bought with the old Apple ID is for you to maintain the old Apple ID.

  • Totally frustrated with Apple!!!!!

I have authorized my sisters computer to play movies/songs that I have purchased using my account. However some of the movies won't even pull up in itunes. when I log into my account and try to download them i get a message.."if you download past purchases with your apple ID you can not auto download or download purchases with a different apple ID for 90 days" ... What is the point in being able to authorize 5 computers to your account if it doesn't work ... HELP, I am totally frustrated with apple and it's many products

If you redownload your past purchases on that computer then you will tie that computer to your account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 - your sister won't be able to use iTunes Match, automatic downloads, or redownload her purchases until the 90 days have completed. I believe that it's an attempt to try and stop people sharing purchases.
You can copy the films over from your own computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 (that page refers to music but it works for other content as well, I've used home sharing to copy films and apps etc)

  • Apple TV does not recognize my Apple ID and password. How do I authorize new apple tv?

Just purchased Apple TV and trying to use it. It will not recognize my Apple ID or Password. Do I need to authorize the Apple TV and how do I do that?

    Hi goskii77,
If you are having issues setting up your new Apple TV with your Apple ID, you may want to double check that the info is current and correct by logging into "Manage my Apple ID" as outlined on this page:
Apple ID: Changing your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5621
If everything is confirmed as correct and working but your Apple TV still won't accept your Apple ID, you may want to try restoring it to factory settings:

  • Gmail no longer working with Apple Mail?

In the lasts 24 hours, without making changes to hardware or software, Mail has quit retrieving mail from my gmail accounts.
While I never receive any sort of warning about passwords or other issue, I simply get this:
And the "activity" window just stays that way... for hours with no result.  The Connection Doctor window:
The Church Email account is an old one that is no longer active... I just haven't removed it from my list.  But the "verify username and password" message is consistent... Strangely enough, down the same window - the SMTP connection works just fine. I can sent  mail from all of my gmail accounts using Mail... Considering that the user name/password is the same for both sending and receiving mail.. SOMETHING is funky with Apple Mail.
Anybody have a guess what to check? This is frustrating.

Did you change any setting in Mail? Did you change your gmail account password? Did you activate 2-step verification on your gmail account?
If you haven't done anything from above, maybe problem is with your network... Did you try to turn off your router for few minutes and then turn ON again?
Did you install any 3rd party security apps on your Mac? Did you enable system firewall? Do you use any proxy servers? Do you use VPN?
    There might be more questions...

  • Thoroughly disappointed with Apple & Lion...

I have never been disapointed with Apple before, but after using Lion for nearly a week I am really upset. I used to work at an Apple Store, I have used Macs since I was about 4, I try to convert all my friends, I follow nearly every rumor site I can find, I use my mac or my iPhone for basically anything I possibly can, and I bring my Mac to work with me and use it instead of my office-supplied PC whenever humanly possible. For the first time ever, I actually chose to use the PC over my Mac because of Lion...
Last night I tried to use TimeMachine to backup my computer to my 2TB G-Drive. After "Preparing backup" for nearly an hour, it finally started to backup and it crawled through the backup slower than I have ever seen it before. After about an hour and a half it finished backing up 24GB. I turned it off for the night thinking it had been running at full capacity for a while and needed a break. Now whenever I boot up my mac, I have one of a few different problems: Either finder will not load at all and my desktop will be blank and the menubar will have gaps in it, or finder will load and none of the icons on the desktop will be responsive and the dock will not load. Earlier I did get it to boot up correctly and I used it for about 30 minutes until I got the pinwheel in safari, then mail became unresponsive, then iCal became unresponsive, then System Prefs became unresponsive... I had to restart my computer and then it got stuck at the grey screen with the spinning wheel on the restart.
Since I have installed and used Lion:
My system is gotten really really slow; evertything from logging in to changing settings to opening applications has become a taxing chore that works by CPU to the bone (I can't even launch Activity Monitor without it freezing up!)
I have gotten the pinwheel on many occasions and I have frequently been forced to force quit apps or force restart my computer
I have had problems with a few of the new getstures; I have gotten fully used to the idea of scrolling up to go down and vice versa, but frequently I will have my thumb on the trackpad and when I scroll up, Mission control will launch (I changed the settings to 4 finger swipe up so this no longer happens, but still annoying Apple wouldn't have thought to address this)
I have noticed minor glitches in many different areas of use; i.e., when logging in with a desktop background that changes on login, the translucent menubar will show the previous photo while the desktop shows the new photo.
Many useful gestures have dissapeared: there is a gesture for swiping through windows in the iTunes store/app store/finder etc. but it is very irritating and not as functional (why couldn't they just use the 2 finger swipe?!?), there is no longer an expose that shows minimized windows (unless you do a 3 finger down with the app already open)
No easy shortcut for fullscreen apps!!! Come on Apple, CMD+CTRL+F is a pain to do with one hand... why not create a simple shortcut or a gesture to enter fullscreen
TimeMachine constantly displays "Last Backup: Delayed" even though it has been less than 24hrs since my last backup
Whenever I try to use the dock (unhide it by moving my mouse to the right side of the screen), the dock rarely responds the first time and I will have to repeatedly move my mouse to the side for the dock to pop up.
For a company that never seems to dissapoint, Lion seems like an absolute disaster. I have had more problems with my computer in the last 6 days than I have had in the last 6 months with Snow Leopard. I think Apple needs to step-up, man-up, acknowledge their customers, acknowledge the complaints from customers, acknowledge the issues customers have found, and work 24-7 until they can release a patch to fix this stuff...

Forums like these exist to help solve people's problems. Happy users don't tend to post on support forums.
You'll find that the huge majority of users are happy, and in fact the feedback on Lion has been very positive.
I would focus on trying to resolve your personal issues, before having a rant about Lion.
First of all, I started off my commenting on issues last week defending Lion and trying to convince everyone that there were some minor issues and that the software was a significant improvement at the least.
The reason why the feedback for Lion has been so positive is the exact reason you claim the discussion boards are all negative. For the most part, people who are upset with Lion are not going to go to the App Store and give Lion a negative review; they are going to search for similar issues online and try to find solutions before giving a bad review.
And personal issues? Either you are trying to insult me by bringing an unrelated matter into this or you are claiming I have not tried to resolve any of the issues stated above. I have spent hours upon hours scouring the discussion board articles for answers to these problems and have found nothing but pleas for help from other members. This is not a rant, it is simply voicing my opinion regarding Lion.
Going back to SL would more than likely cause more problems if not excacerbate the problems that already exist. Not to mention that would be a "sweeping it under the rug" kind of solution...

  • I am so fed up with Apple and their lack of testing on Security Updates!!!!

I am so fed up with Apple, i have lost all hope in them whatsoever. Today i installed the Security Update 2007-009 1.1 and when prompted to restart did so, only to wait 5 minutes with my computer just idling and not restarting. So I then went to the apple menu to restart but still nothing happened. Pushed the Power button on my Mac and it brought up the dialog box for:
    ...Log off...Restart...Shutdown
But then it quickly logged-out giving me no time to even click on restart , so i logged back in , tried again, and of course it did the same thing again, so i logged back in and force shutdown holding down the power button for 5 seconds. Finally it shut down so i then Powered it back up, logged in with no problems.
Since the Security Update includes the update of Logic 8.0.1, I went straight to it in applications but found the Logic icon & Logic Node icon replaced by Blue folder icons. Upon clicking on Logic i was prompted with an error stating that it could not open because the file was corrupt, so i decided to delete Logic and along with Logic Node and empty the trash so that it would remove all its files. But now when i clicked on Trash, the window would not come up. I tried just empty trash from the dock but it would not empty the trash either. I can not open any finder window from my dock's Finder Icon.
I can open finder by clicking on Macintosh HD on my desktop but when i navigate through my folders all of my file icons have these weird sort of Distorted Scan lines through them.
So i decided i would open disk utility and try and repair whatever the **** is going on. Pressed verify Disk and it tried to Verify the disk but came back a minute after idling, giving me this error:
    Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Checking multi-linked files.
    Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    Checking Extended Attributes file.
    Checking volume bitmap.
    Checking volume information.
    Invalid volume free block count
(It should be (It should be 4 instead of 6294237)
    Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
    Volume needs repair
Here is a screenshot of Disk Utility: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g269/DjViral/Picture1.png
So obviously something is wrong because it reported failure on exit and Disk Utility will not even let me click on "Repair Disk", it is just faded out, un-click-able.
I would like to know what is wrong, and why Apple is releasing such **** as Security Updates. I mean isn't the whole point of a security update to make your computer more secure. Is this a joke or something?
I have lost all respect for you Apple. Not too mention this happened only 2 months ago with your last security update and i had to get my computer serviced which took 3 weeks. You better explain yourselves, apologize and start getting your sorry act together.

when prompted to restart did so, only to wait 5 minutes with my computer just idling and not restarting. So I then went to the apple menu to restart but still nothing happened. Pushed the Power button on my Mac
You should not have done that, it is a process that should never be interrupted.
    For next time:
There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them 10.4.10. compliant. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
