Auto load library

Question

I installed iTunes 12 for Windows. I was hoping it would allow me to separate my Christmas music from my regular music. I learned that iTunes will allow multiple libraries. I hold the SHIFT key while clicking on iTunes in the Start Menu and upon launching, it allows me to choose which library I want to work with. It's a very poor way of working with multiple libraries because you then have to locate the proper "iTunes Music.itl" file in the proper directory, and God knows my children aren't going to remember how to do this.  So I created two DOS batch files which rename the file to either "iTunes Music.bk1" or "iTunes Music.bk2" while renaming the backup copy we want to "iTunes Music.itl".  I now have two icons to click on: iTunes or iTunes Christmas. Very simple.  The batch file also renames the "iTunes Library Extras.itdb" and "iTunes Library Genius.itdb". I haven't had any trouble yet. But I'm wondering if there could be a downside to this. PS. My Christmas music is in a different folder than my other music, although I'm not sure that was necessary.

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. The text will change from grey to dark and the padlock will disappear: Managing content manually on iPod
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
