Auto restart failed fpr oracle VM guest

Hello,
I have created a guest using below command and was able to get xm list:
# xm create testrac1.cfg
# xm list
Name ID Mem VCPUs State Time(s)
Domain-0 0 543 8 r----- 7226.7
testrac1 1 8192 4 -b---- 11.9
I have used below cfg file to create testrac1 guest
# cat testrac1.cfg
bootloader = '/usr/bin/pygrub'
disk = ["file:/OVS/seed_pool/OVM_EL5U3_X86_64_PVM_4GB/testrac1.img,hda,w"]
memory = '8192'
name = 'devrac1'
on_crash = 'restart'
on_reboot = 'restart'
vcpus = 4
vfb = ['type=vnc,vncunused=1,vnclisten=0.0.0.0']
vif = ['mac=00:16:3e:32:ca:d3']
When I restarted whole VM server then the guest created before did not come up.
# xm list
Name ID Mem VCPUs State Time(s)
Domain-0 0 543 8 r----- 7226.7
Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Failed to install VirtualBox Guest Addition on Oracle Linux 6.1

    I can successfully install Oracle Linux 6.1 on VirtualBox 4.1. But failed to install VirtualBox Guest Additions with the following message: Building the main Guest Additions module [FAILED]. All other modules installed ok.

    Actually you don't have do install the developer version. According to the documentation http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04.html you will need to install gcc and kernel-devel packages. In case Oracle Enterprise Linux does not find the required packages, you either have to install them from a different source (e.g. DVD) or use Oracle's public Yum server located at http://public-yum.oracle.com.

  • MacPro seemingly random Auto-Restart with Premiere

    I have a MacPro 3,1 with 10.10 and 32GB RAM.
    During video editing in Premiere CC 2014, the computer has auto-restarted twice in the past hour.  Both times, I was doing something different in Premiere, so I'm unsure as to what triggered it.  I also noticed that now, two of my 4GB DIMMs are not recognized. (note: all DIMMs have tested positively with Rember, and are of the same manufacturer)  In the meantime, I have removed the two DIMMs in question and now have four DIMMs on the top riser, two on bottom.  The two slots that have caused problems seem to be fine now, but with every restart, things changes—that's why I do not believe the issue to be the actual DIMMs themselves.
    I do not know how to interpret these crash reports, but I need to rule out issues in the crash report if there are any.  I HOPE the problem is with the RAM and not one of the risers.

    Bad DIMM removed.  I now have 4 DIMMs on Riser A, 2 on B.  But this RAM is just all. over. the. place!  Check out these screenshots that "tell the story" of these DIMMs.
    11/13 3:47PM - Two unrecognized on A, one error on B
    11/14 2:47PM - All is well? Really?
    (removed the bad DIMM)
    11/17 9:53AM - Two unrecognized on A, two on B are removed.
    Today's screenshot was taken moments after the computer restarted itself twice upon opening Adobe Premiere.  Here's another EtreCheck:

  • Oracle Vm guest boot order

    Hi,
    is there any possibility to setup VM guest boot order in Oracle Vm server. For example i have VMs 1,2,3 and when the Oracle Vm server is restarted, i want the VM guests to boot automatically in the following order:
    VM2(database)
    VM3(Forms & reports)
    VM1(BI pubisher).
    regards,
    Savo

    Hi there Savo,
    the only approach I am aware of is to create symbolic links in
    /etc/xen/auto to point to the respective guests' cfg file. Though you
    can play around with naming the links to accomplish proper boot order,
    you still may experience issues as the hypervisor will start the
    machines but the individual time for loading OS and other software may
    vary. Based on this you may have one machine started before another, but
    the second to start all services faster than the first one. Hence,
    having issues.
    Take a look at this threa <https://community.oracle.com/thread/2446485>d
    and pay attention to the last post as I have not tried it.
    In general both approaches will impose a great level of inflexibility in
    a clustered pool as you have to carefully plan where each machine will
    start after dom0 reboots.
    Hope this helps,
    Anatoli

  • [SOLVED] NetworkManager auto restart even though I stop it.

    Hi,
    I enable NetworkManager at system boot.
    # systemctl enable NetworkManager.service
    After I stop NetworkManager manually, and run chromium/firefox, it restart NetworkManager again.
    # systemctl stop NetworkManager
    > Active: inactive (dead) since Fri, 12 Oct 2012 12:37:51 +0800; 24min ago
    $ chromium
    ! NetworkManager auto restarted.
    # sysetmctl status NetworkManager
    > Active: active (running) since Fri, 12 Oct 2012 12:44:13 +0800; 17min ago
    After a little dig by myself, I found out the restart was called by D-Bus.
    $ journalctl _SYSTEMD_UNIT=dbus.service -f
    Oct 12 12:44:13 -- dbus-daemon[566]: dbus[566]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.NetworkManager' unit='dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service'

    Oct 12 12:44:13 -- dbus-daemon[566]: dbus[566]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.bluez' unit='dbus-org.bluez.service'
    Oct 12 12:44:13 -- dbus[566]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.bluez' unit='dbus-org.bluez.service'
    Oct 12 12:44:13 -- dbus[566]: [system] Activation via systemd failed for unit 'dbus-org.bluez.service': Unit dbus-org.bluez.service failed to load: No such file or directory. See system logs and 'systemctl status dbus-org.bluez.service' for details.
    Oct 12 12:44:13 -- dbus-daemon[566]: dbus[566]: [system] Activation via systemd failed for unit 'dbus-org.bluez.service': Unit dbus-org.bluez.service failed to load: No such file or directory. See system logs and 'systemctl status dbus-org.bluez.service' for details.

    Oct 12 12:44:13 -- dbus[566]: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager'
    So, my problem is, How can I stop NetworkManager permanently?, so that I can use both netcfg and NetworkManager side by side, but I don't want to disable NetworkManager at system boot.
    Thanks for any help.

    I finally found same issue and solution at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=815243
    If you want to disable NetworkManager auto-restart feature, follow bellow
    # cp /usr/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service /etc/systemd/system
    # vi /etc/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service
    #Alias=dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service # comment it.
    # rm /etc/systemd/system/dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service
    Thanks for the helping.

  • PSWATCHSRV does not auto-restart causing app server domain instability

    Current environment:
    - Solaris 10
    - Oracle 10.2.0.4
    - PS HRCS 9.0
    - PTools 8.49.19
    - Weblogic 9.2
    - Tuxedo 9.1
    We have two PIA web sites that reside on the same PIA web domain. They each interact with a different app server domain residing on csapp81. One is assigned a jolt listening port of 9060 (CS90SBX) and the other uses 9030 (CS90UNT). Recently, after patching the PTools to 8.49.19, we discovered that occasionally the PSWATCHSRV in one of the app server domains will shut down and not restart. The domain continues to run without the WATCHSRV but then erratic behavior in the PIA is observed:
    - Users attempting to access worklists are logged off
    - Reports stop posting from PSNT and PSUNX
    - Users attempting to navigate to reports already posted are logged off with "An Error Has Occurred" message
    - Some users are unable to log in and see a message in red on the signon page: bea.jolt.ServiceException
    Re-booting the app server domain will solve the problem temporarily until the PSWATCHSRV shuts down again. We have noticed that in the app server that is not affected, the PSWATCHSRV restarts one second after shutting down whereas in the affected domain it never auto-restarts. We have tried re-building the web server and app server domains but this does not affect the problem. There appears to be no difference between the two domains. In fact a couple of weeks earlier SBX was working fine and UNT was affected. Now it's the exact opposite and we have another environment (CFG) showing the same behavior.
    The proof the problem exists:
    Verified the issue by the application server log file <APPSRV_0602_SBX.LOG>, which displays that PSWATCHSRV has been shutdown and never restarted:
    PSAPPSRV.11610 (3) [06/02/09 12:48:40 GetCertificate](3) Returning context. ID=PS, Lang=ENG, UStreamId=124840_11610.3, Token=PSFT_HR/2009-06-02-05.48.40.000003/PS/ENG AAAAmwECAwQAAQAAAAACvAAAAAAAAAAsAARTaGRyAgBOZQgAOAAuADEAMBTG0ddiK9wa09fTauVpwsrNvqJDmwAAAFsABVNkYXRhT3icPcZNDkAwFEXh02oM7YS8VAkL8DMSwdzILi3O6xu4J/lygcf5IuDQ+Tcb2DlLJjaWKn9mLm5WjkREtJFa7c1odjQkBlNU+Wv5APmFCio=

    My question is: Has anyone else ever seen this behavior in an 8.49.19 environment? If so, how was it resolved?
    We are now conducting UAT and the occasional disruption of having to restart the app server just so people can login to the system is not making a good impression on the customer.
    We have an open SR ticket with Support but as yet they have not been able to help us...

    Looks like Tuxedo is not doing he's job. You should double check the Tuxedo version and rolling patch installed.
    And also the configuration of AppServer, section "PSWATCHSRV", if the interval is set to 0, then it is disabled.
    Moreover, from your output it is difficult to understand what's going wrong.
    Nicolas.

  • Auto Restart of Applications

    How do I configure Sever 10.4.6 to auto restart particular applications? I have already enabled energy saver to restart automatically if it loses power or "freezes" but also need to restart some apps if they quit unexpectedly.
    Thanks.

    It depends on how you're starting the apps in question.
    If you're manually starting the app then you have to manually watch it and restart it if it fails.
    If you're using a startup script to start your app then you either need a wrapper script that calls the app (and deals with failover) or you need a second script to sit in the background watching the app and restarting it as necessary.
    If you're using launchd to start your app, it's automatic. man launchd or more information on using launchd, and man launchd.plist for information on writing your own launchd control file.

    Hi Radu,
    I write python scripts for getting server status and scripys is:
    nmConnect(username='weblogic',password='welcome1',domainName='oam_domain')
    #,host='acldlu01oam.corp.vha.com')
    #nmConnect('weblogic','welcome1','acldlu01oam.corp.vha.com','5556','oam_domain','/u01/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/oam_domain','ssl')
    print "NodeManager connected.."
    print " Admin Server is : "
    nmServerStatus(serverName='AdminServer')
    print " OAM Server is : "
    nmServerStatus('oam_server1')
    print "End of script"

  • Like to know how to restart failes patch

    Dear all
    If any patch fail to apply patch due some reason's how to restart... From some web site i seen that there is option called adctrl is use for restart failed worker.. Now we assume like if the patch completed around 90 % and it taken around 2 hours for that.. Now the remaining 10% only wanna to execute which is taken only ten min to complete now what i wanna to do complete with out start the process from beginning...
    Mean while i like to know the difference between adctrl and autopatch restart (i.e the purpose of $APPL_TOP/admin/<SID>/restart ).....

    Hi,
    If any patch fail to apply patch due some reason's how to restart... From some web site i seen that there is option called adctrl is use for restart failed worker.. Now we assume like if the patch completed around 90 % and it taken around 2 hours for that.. Now the remaining 10% only wanna to execute which is taken only ten min to complete now what i wanna to do complete with out start the process from beginning...Please see the link
    http://beginapps.blogspot.com/2008/04/how-to-apply-11i-patch-when-adpatch-is.html
    The above link talks about 11i. It is the same for R12 except the location of restart files in R12 is in $APPL_TOP/admin/<SID>
    Mean while i like to know the difference between adctrl and autopatch restart (i.e the purpose of $APPL_TOP/admin/<SID>/restart ).....Please read the documentation
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B34956_01/current/acrobat/r12adutil.pdf
    Breifly
    Using adctrl you can control the workers, like quitting them, restarting them checking the status.
    The purpose of restart directory is to store the last status of the workers and other information will be needed if patch needs to be restarted next time.
    Thanks

    Any help in this issue is highly appreciated.
    Thank You Very Much.

    I am also getting the same error as a previous poster:

    I downloaded and installed Oracle EL5 (64 bit). I have a Network-level support, so I ran the up2date and picked up all the updates and installed them. My company is a licensee of 10g, so I downloaded 64bit 10g, and ungzip-uncpio'd it into a work directory. When I try to install it, it blows up at the above point.
    In reading the above comments, I rpm'd libXp and libaio, but this does not change the failure of runInstaller.
    Any hints?

    Hello guys..!! I have got my new  iphone 4 2 days ago.The same day it got a problem of auto restart in every 1, to 2 minutes. I updated and restored it many times...but of no use... can any one help me how to solve this problem..!!

    Go to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. the connecto to iTunes and restore as a New phone. Do not restore any backup. If the problem persists you have a hardware problem. Take it to Apple for exchange.
    This assumes that the phone is not hacked or jailbroken. If it is you will have to go elsewhere on the internet for help.

  • Auto Restart Issue with Mac Book AIR

    Have been using a Macbook PRO for sometime, no problem with Parallel installed. Due to frequent traveling, light and compact is my priority now, so I bought another AIR (11" i7 chip w/ Parallel installed as well). It was working flawlessly for few weeks, used it to download a couple of updates when I was in China (approx. 4Mbit/sec line speed) still no issues. UNTIL when I get back to my office and using WIFI updated another few stuffs, the AIR started to behave strangely with "your computer needs to restart due to problem ..."  the last few days it happened at least 10 times daily, so I did what I know with the usual Mac way,  reset PRAM, repair permissions blah blah blah ..problems persists so I called the service centre and the technician I talked to suggested the issue could be from 'your moderate internet speed causing incomplete system updated files.' ;  half convinced but I followed / reinstalled ...with no CD, it has to press option to select  to reinstall -- only then I realized a big problem, originally it states requires 27 hours to reinstall a fresh LION in my AIR but finally it completed and restated in still about MASSIVE 7-1/2 hours time.
    As I have bought a USB network connector now (a convenient gadget when stays at hotels with different levels of facilities offered), this is not so troublesome and I think fellow users should consider using network and avoid using WIFI for this purpose. I notice once the left USB once was used (without turning off the WIFI)  it keeps breaking the connections, as I read some articles from this forum the left USB could has some stability issues.  After all the time spent, the computer freezes at times and auto restarts again. What the heck has this causes the AIR to behave this way ?
    NEXT, I also read on the Power issues, I bought it without realizing one of the technical highlight is on high performance battery management but you can chop my head off and sit on mine if the AIR can last 3 hours (probably the suggested time is with computer power on but without using it at all). I don't want to sound un-nice as I have been using Mac for many many years:  1) if AIR is entirely basing on internet (VERY HIGH SPEED) for support is not a really very friendly method for users if there is reliability issues via internet line support, says what if we are caught in remote area with 30k/sec line speed then we are totally dead ... ; 2)  the recent scare makes me dare not using the software updates now, as technician suggested, write down what is required to update, find it from apple and do it manually ...Goohs, my Mac Book Pro using side by side doesn't has this issue.   Since when was the last time I have to suffer maintaining a Mac myself ? ...  @%#&@*!(!
    Anyone has clue to these or simply return to service centre to handle for me ?
    Thanks in advance (first time user in this community).

    Hello!
    I´m sorry it took so long to reply, but I´m new to these blogs; and I´ve been travelling a lot... Anyway, I was able to configure Airport Express, but I was told I could use it to expand my wireless network inside my house; which I found it´s not possible.
    So, I´m returning my Airport Express to the store tomorrow and try to figure out a way to extend my wireless in any other way.
    Any sugestion? Big houses are a problem...
    Best regards, and once again thank you!

    Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
    If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
    Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
    Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
             com.apple.GeForce(6.4.0)@0x82ac4000->0x82b7afff
                dependency: com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport(2.2.1)@0x82fd3000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6.5)@0x7a802000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.2.1)@0x8301b000
             com.apple.nvidia.nv50hal(6.4.0)@0x83c05000->0x84019fff
                dependency: com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000
             com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000->0x8378dfff
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6.5)@0x7a802000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport(2.2.1)@0x82fd3000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.2.1)@0x8301b000
    Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
    So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
    Good luck,
    Clinton
