Automatic BOM Selection as per Stock availability

Hi...
I have a query.....How can i set an Automatic BOM selection as per stock availability
Problem is that the client is having more than 1 type of raw material which can be used, so the user needs to consume the ROH as per the stock availability, in that case he has to manualy check and amend the Production Order accordingly.
Hence, i want to set a system wherein the system would do the checking of the ROH material and then select that material and execute the production order accordinly.

Please explore the possibility of defining "Alternative Item Group", in the BOM Item level details(Basic data tab).
From Application help for your referance,
Alternative item: group
Consolidation of alternative items within a BOM. Every material in the assembly can be included in the alternative item group.
Use
As soon as you enter an alternative item group, you see an additional dialog box with the following data: ranking order, strategy, usage probability.
You can maintain alternative items in the following situations:
Alternative positions with specific usage probability
These alternative items are incorporated with a specific usage probability. Enter the usage probability for each alternative item in the group, so that:
dependent requirements are determined in requirements planning
dependent requirements are changed to a reservation in the production order
Alternative positions as information
You can enter an alternative item for information purposes. This item would then, for example, only be taken into account in situations involving missing parts.
As there should be neither dependent requirements nor a reservation for this item, enter no usage probability.
Procedure
Enter the same character string to denote the alternative items of an alternative item group.
Enter the same strategy for all alternative items in the alternative item group.
Dependencies
Alternative items are valuated in the following way:
Dependent requirements determination
Requirements planning determines the dependent requirements according to the usage probabilities that have been entered.
If the usage probability is 0%, then no procurement is planned for the item. For information purposes, however, dependent requirements with 0 as quantity are created.
Withdrawal posting
You can control the withdrawal posting for the resevation in the production order in the following way:
Withdrawal according to usage probability (manual change is possible)
Withdrawal if there is 100% availability
(Check ranking order and strategy)

Block Stock consider during MRP Run and Stock availibility check

Dear All,
I am facing the stock availibility check , Sytem consider the Defective material which is Block in same storage location ,and system not generate the Planned order .
-Blocked Material stock 100, and requirement 100 then system not generate the planned. Client need the system generate planned order 100 , Because 100 material is defective.
I have configured the system scope of availibility , Block stock check remove , but problem is not solve.

Can you please re-check your MRP plant parametrs in OPPQ wether you have selected blocked stock( Available Stock tab ) option by chance ?
Please de-select the same and re-run MRP.Generally MRP does not consider block stock in net requirement calcualtion .One more thing , MRP does material avilablity check as per OMJJ set up ( define availbality chek ) but does not consider the same while doing net requirement calcualtion to generate PR rather it goes down to MRP plant parametrs ( oppq or oppr )

Alternative bom selection

hello,
i want solution for alternative bom selection.
for eg.
i have material say X00100 which has two alternative components
                            A00100
                            B00100
now, i have to mapped the scinario that .the product pick the material   A00100
first & if there is no stock then it will pick the material   B00100
please give the solution

Hi,
Try using this concept.
In BOM alternative items are assigned to alternative item group on the general
data.
In the production order in the general data tab page.
We can define the alternative items based on priority , strategy and usage probability.
Priority:
This defines the priority of the item within the alternative item group.
This determines the priority of planned withdrawls of items.
EX Two items are assigned to alternative item group
item A Priority 1
item B Priority 2
The system reads the item A first.
Strategy:
use the strategy to determine how the planned withdrawl is controlled
within the alternative item group.
The strategy should be same for all alternative items within a alternative
item group.
If the value 2( 100% check) is defined for the strategy the first material in
the defined priority sequence for which sufficient quantities are available
are reserved.
If value 1 is used( manual maintainence/ usage probability) depending upon the
availability you can manually with draw components.
Usage Probability:
MRP Plans these alternative material components according to probability
of use.Material requirements for BOM Components are planned according
to usage probability.
The planned withdrawls for the production order are based on the
reservation lists.These lists are based on the priority and strategy.

Please go to T-code OPL8 and in production version use( 1 )Manual selection of production version. Then user can select manually instead of automatic selection.

BOM SELECTION DURING CREATION OF JOB WORK PO

Dear All,
In my scenario we are not running MRP so my problem is if i maintain two BOM for a halb material say ALT 1(for inhse prdn.) AND ALT 2(job work) .Now if i make a job work PO for this item the system by default picks the ALT1 always and i want to pick the ALT 2.There is no LOT size funda the item can anytime be produced inhse OR subcontracting.

i am giving one solution, but it works fine if you run MRP, same you can try with your case.
The right Bom can be selected by creating production version.
1. create two production versions for your HALB material, then assign your inhouse BOM for first production version, and assign Job work Bom to second production version. (MM01)
2. select Bom explosion indicator = 2 (selection by prodution version) in MRP view (MM01)
3.Then lock the first production version manually if you want do outside job work.
then create PO and check that correct BOM is selected as per your requirement.(MM01 - MRP view)
4 if you want to do inhouse prodution then unlock the first version, system will select first active version by default.
i hope this will solve your problem , otherwise ignore

Restrict SO with respect to stock availability in current month

Hi all,
Our management want to restrict the sale order if there is not stock in the current month in order to avoid overbooking.
I know the item availability check feature of SAP 8.8 will serve the purpose.
But my problem is that i want the user to enter a date on line level which falls in the current month and secondly i want to put a check on which option was selected from the item availability check window.
Is it possible ?

I already have a FMS query of order overbooking. In addition to that i need to capture that overbooking in transaction notification.
but can i capture the value of order overbooking which comes in a UDF in SO in transaction notification..

BOM selection in sales order

hello, friends.
when selecting the BOM in the sales order, the selection screen displays alternative BOMs for 1 usage type only, and will show the other usages one at a time only if the first type does not exist. the sequence depends on the priorities (access sequence) set in IMG, and settings in item category.
my questions are:
1. does the 'next page' button in the selection screen refer to additional BOMs of the only same usage type?
2. is it possible to show other usage types in the same selection screen? if yes, where do we configure this

actually, BOM selection is working fine for us. my question was more of a theoretical one. to clarify the issue, let me cite an example:
1. for material A001, i create 5 alternative BOMs.
2. of these 5 BOMs, 3 have usage type SD, and 2 have usage type Production.
3. when you enter your BOM header material in the sales order, a selection screen will appear. because of the priorities set in IMG, it will show you only the 3 alternate BOMs of the SD usage type.
3. the system will display the 2 other production BOMs only if there are no SD usage BOMs or if these have been deactivated, or if you change the order of priority in IMG.
4. you cannot change the usage type in the BOM selection screen because this field is not available for input. there are "next page" buttons, and i'm wondering if this is or is not just for long lists of alternate BOMs with a single usage type.
my question: is it possible to show all 5 BOMs regardless of usage in the same list, or in different pages?

Customer Order Assigned to Tranport Order. Stock Available ?.

Our system release is 47.200.
We are looking for run a transport order assigned to a customer order.
What happens:
We have prepared the customizing and also a user exit to have the option to work with the assigned orders.
Currently we can create the suppliers assigned orders
and also we can create assigned transport orders.
The problem appears when we want to make the expedition of the assigned transport order VL10G, then the system says that we dont have stock available and that is not true because we have stock available Unrestricted Use.
4999200004 000010 Only 0 ST of material 0401010 available
4999200004 000010 An item with no delivery quantity is not permitted.
The system looks the stock available for customers not the stock
Unrestricted Use.
Is possible to make a customer order assigned to Transport Order and this looks the stock available in the status Unrestricted Use.
If we have to make a movement every time that we have stock available for the transport assigned order.
It will not be a good process, will be very manual or if we will have to create a not standard Program sure that it will make mistakes...
We are looking for this solution and sure that in a future we will need for
the same with intersociety orders.

I will explain our problem step by step:
1.- In our system we have made the configuration to be able the assigned orders:
When we make a customer order we can create an automatic purchasing order
if we change the item category of the customer order.
Also we can create a Transport Order.
2.- We use the Transport Orders to send material from the central warehouse to
the little warehouse.
3.- The Transport Order is similar as Purchasing Order, the different is that this
kind of order make a Picking / Delivery note in the central warehouse.
With this delivery note we make the reception in other warehouse.
4.- The problem that we have appears when we want to create
the Picking / Delivery note. with VL10G
At this moment the system says that we don't have stock available.
Our Assigned Transport Order is looking the Customer Stock Available
not the Unrestricted use stock that is our normal stock ATP and is where
we have always all our stock ATP .
5.- For prepare the delivery note I have to make a material movement
of stock to translate the Unrestricted Stock in Customers stock ATP.
If I have to make this movement every time it will be very manual and
we will do mistakes sure.
I want that the Assigned Transport Order checks the Availability with the
ATP Unrestricted Stock.
I don't know if we can do something to find an automatic solution for the ATP,
for us it will be very interesting because we can prepare this Transport orders
connected to the Customer Order and this will be great.

Stock/Availability updation terminated(MD04)

Hi all,
After posting of GR with MB31, i was refresh the Stock/Availability list. While refreshing it was terminated. And an error message displaye as " Express document update was terminated received from author SAP". But GR documet was posted.
What s the problem with my steps? Kindly explain.

Check for the lock entries in the T code SM12,select the relevant one and delete it.
Check in MB51 for the latest document along with the time and for movement.IF its prsent and if found
ok in MD04 also means leave it as such.
Check and revert back.

Automatic Product Selection

Hello Everyone,
In automatic product selection, we can define many rules for material substitution.
Lets say a Rule is such:
If material A is not available, this is auto replaced by material B.
the list :
1. Material A
2. Material B
For this rule, I like to confirm that If material A IS Available, this substitution will not take place since it does not meet the criteria?

QI stock availability & releasing

as it is configured in the system, QI stock is available stock, and won't trigger missing parts for the production order. however, is there a way in the system, that when i release an order, it would restrict me, because stock is still in QI and hasn't been UD-ed.?

In transaction OPJJ - Define Scope of Check uncheck the incl.quality inspection stock for the respective availability check entered for the mateial in the material master(02).
This setting will exclude the stocks available in quality during availability check in production order.
To restrict the production order release when there is a stock deficit of the input materials, goto transaction OPJK - Define Checking Control select the entries for respective plant, order type and business function 2 - Check availability during order release.
Go in to detail in the material availability tab in the Mat. release enter 3 -No release if parts are missing. This will restrict the release of order when stock deficit.

BOM selection in the MRP

   when MRP runs , what is the process of BOM selection. Are there any user exits to control the BOM selection.

For BOM selection you will assign the selection ID in T Code OPPQ --> under planning run -->
BOM/Routing selection.Say suppose if you are assigning an ID 01and for this ID you can have many
options using priority.
Say SelID     SelPr     Usage     Usage text
        01     1     1     Production
     2     3     Universal
     3     2     Engineering/design
So in This case the system seraches for a BOM with usage 1 production,if there's no BOM with this
usage for production,then it seraches the BOM with the next priority say universal BOM and then the
next priority for Engineering Design BOM.
This priority can be configured as per your business requirement in T Code OS31.
So the above is from configuration side and from the front end,
1. Using BOM status - Active(01) and Inactive(02).
2.Using Lot size and validity dates you can control the selection.
So check with this and revert back still if you have more queries.

Maintaining Stock Availibility : physical table or materialized view ?

Hi All,
We have typical Order processing application where I should maintain
stock availibility => Order is rejected if Stock is not available. The number of orders is 1000 perday, 22 branch, using VPD. 10 users each branch.
We are really tempted to use JUST view /materialized view to maintain stock position. (where traditionally we use a phiysical table for this, updated after insert/update/delete of transactions)
So the view will be like this :
Create View Stock AS
Select Prod.Code, Prod.beginning_balance,
( SELECT Sum (Qty) from Purchase Where ProdCode = prod.code ...) AS Purchase,
( SELECT Sum (Qty) from Order Where ProdCode = prod.code ...) AS Order,
From Products Prod
So to get the stock availability for a particular product :
Select Beginning_balance + Purchase - Order from Stock Where Code = ...
Please give comments, will this work with good performance ?
Or has anybody done like this in their application ?

If we're talking about a materialized view, I assume you'd do incremental fast refreshes. If we're talking about 1000 transactions a day, I wouldn't be at all concerned. Growth of the transaction table ought to have no impact on the speed with which the materialized view could be refreshed.
I can't think of any blocking issues that would arise from using a materialized view that wouldn't occur if you were updating a separate physical table. The timing might be slightly different, but Oracle's multi-version read consistency ought to work the same either way, hence you ought not ever block.

I have automatic batch determination configured. In sales order order quantity is not confirming even if there is stock available in batch. I have checked in mmbe stock is available for batch in unrestricted use. What will be the cause that order quantity is not confirming.

Please use availability check field in the material master in Sales view as " Batch managed" and also check the material for other Batch mgmt checks and this works properly.

I am working on a Long Term Planning Scenario, while simulating the client will use various BOMs to check the costing during Annual Planning run and also for Planning run for a Quarter, how can I select the BOM as required during LTP-MRP Run? Also plz let me how to configure the BOM selection ID??

Hi,
BOM selection will be done by automatically, manually not possible. In material master MRP4 view BOM selection option given by,
1. Lot size
2. Date
3. By production version
4. Only by prod version.
System will select according to that only.
Before configuring BOM selection ID, we have to configure Order of priority b ytcode OS31. In this create selection ID no by priority wise respect to BOM usage.
Use this BOM selection ID in BOM application as required.
