Availability of BT YouView Software Updates?

Have the latest YouView software updates been rolled out yet to all BT YouView customers?
My box has continually been left connected in stand-by when not in use and so should have processed any availabe updates. Also I have carried out the manual update process several times and it states the "software is up to date".
However when I caheck my box's software version, it is a lower version than the one available via updates in Feb & March 2013. Also noticed that new features such as the "message prompt before deleting recordings" is not available within my Settings/Device Management screen.
So either some of the latest software updates ahve not been made available to all BT YouView customers or there is a problem with my box. However I have no issues other than this with my box and it confirms my software version is up to date when performing a manual software update. Plus the "check for software updates" date keeps updating every day - suggesting that it is also performing the automatic update process whislt in stand-by mode.
Any advice or comments please to help?
Note: I have not performed a Factory Reset to see if this makes any difference because I have many unwatched recordings that I don not want to lose!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Thanks again happyslayeruk.
I performed the Internet/USB Recovery - keep recordings this morning and it all worked perfectly!
Software updated and is fully up to latest available version with extra features I needed PLUS it did retain all my recordings.
So very very pleased and thanks for your assitance
I checked the BT YouView manual again and there's nothing mentioned about going into thie Maintenance Recovery Mode but now I know what to do again if required.

  • HP Laserjet 3055 printer "waiting for printer to be available" after HP Printer Software Update 3.0

I have an HP Laserjet 3055 All-in-One Printer. It has been printing just fine from my iMac running OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks) until after the HP Printer Software Update, Version 3.0, that I installed on 1 Oct 2014. Although the 3055 is shown as connected/idle to my iMac via USB, after clicking "PRINT" for a document, the print queue status soon changes from "printing" to "waiting for printer to become available", and the printer never becomes available. I have tried rebooting everything (printer, computer, text software), checking USB cable connections and changing USB ports, deleting and re-adding the 3055 printer (numerous times!) even after resetting the print system, but could there be something inherently wrong with the latest HP driver (version 19.9 for HP Laserjet 3052)? Or is it possible something else is going on?  In other words, I have exhausted all the solutions I've found in these and other forums to no avail.
I have tested this printer by connecting it to my MacBook Pro (also running OX 10.9.5) but without having installed the HP Printer Software Update, Version 3.0. (Hadn't gotten around to this update...) The printer works fine, even though the driver has the same version number--19.9 for HP Laserjet 3052. So could the version 19.9 driver in the latest HP Printer Software Update be corrupted? Is there any way to reinstall that driver? Or copy the 19.9 driver from my MacBook Pro and install it on the iMac? HP only refers to the Apple Software Update process for Mavericks compatible drivers for this printer. Can I manually uninstall the HP driver for the Laserjet 3055 from my iMac and then have the iMac download the driver again in the process of re-setting up the 3055? Any suggestions appreciated.

Many thanks for your suggestions. After creating a bootable back-up, I tried the first suggestion--downloading and re-installing the HP printer driver update kit for which you kindly provided the link--but to no avail. Before downloading the driver update kit, I "reset the printing system", clearing all the installed printers, queues, etc. After re-installing the HP printer drivers, I went to System Preferences>Printers & Scanners to once again add the HP LaserJet 3055 only to discover it was already listed as installed! This I find baffling, to say then least. I tried printing and again got the "waiting for printer to be available" message. I subsequently tried deleting and re-adding the printer, going through the printing system reset again, but still no-go.
I also tried another approach to adding the printer which perhaps will shed some light on the problem. After clicking on the "+" button to add the printer, I select the "HP LaserJet 3055" which shows up as available via USB. Then, instead of using the "HP LaserJet 3052" driver that automatically appears in the "Use" [choose a driver] field, I chose "Auto Select" to see what happens. As the computer processes this request, the status message changes from "Gathering printer information..." to "Waiting for printer to become available..." And, of course, it never becomes available. This strikes me as odd, that the printer set-up system "sees" the printer accurately enough to list it as available to add but can't find it with the "Auto Select" approach to getting the appropriate driver. Of course, when I simply go with the "Use HP LaserJet 3052" driver option that, naturally enough, is the one automatically suggested by the printer set-up system, the printer is "successfully" added. I say "successfully" in quotes because it never becomes "available" to print something.
Before I try your second suggestion--downloading and re-installing the 10.9.5 combo update--I wonder if it's possible that the printing system reset process is "broken". It's as though the reset fails to clear the printer queue, making it appear that there is a pending printing job that the system is waiting to be finished. Also, as noted above, I reset the printing system prior to re-installing the HP printer driver update kit and then, after installation, the HP LaserJet 3055 magically had already been added. This makes me wonder if the printer wasn't properly "cleared" from whatever makes up the printer System Preference process during the reset.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Macbook Pro Retina display says "No batteries available" after legitimate system software update

    Issue Description
On July 26, 2012 I placed an order with Apple store for the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with the following configuration (Order # W269108641 Serial# C02J52S9DKQ5):
    Processor 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Memory 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM, Flash Storage 512GB Flash Storage
It was delivered August 8, 2012. It cost me $3,265.16
I have since equipped it with accessories like a wireless apple keyboard ($69), wireless mouse ($69), USB super drive ($79), VGA display adapter ($29), Ethernet Adapter ($29) and the excellent sleeve/pouch from Pack & Smooch GmbH (GBP60))
It's so heavily configured because it’s my main workstation. I additionally bought and installed Parallels 8 so I can run Windows 8 in a Virtual Machine because I have a few things on Windows that I need to be productive. This setup has been a dream machine until a little over a week ago.
    In the one year since I bought it, I have had only 2 issues;
    • A case of display flickering that resulted after a system software update on August 28, 2013
(Case ID 498560320 - not much help came from Apple Support but fortunately the problem went away a week later after another system software update)
    • A case of battery failure that resulted after a system software update on October 11, 2013
(Case ID 516534003 - I have gone through all recommendations from Apple support as I will detail below)
    Symptoms after system software update
    • Battery Icon on status bar disabled with a message "No batteries available"
    • Battery not charging
    • LED on the Magsafe power adapter no longer show
    • Keyboard backlights no longer show
    • Notebook fan loud/noisy and permanently at high speed
    • Date and time reset to a date in the past at each restart
    • Notebook starts up the moment the Magsafe adapter is connected without waiting for power button to be pressed
    • An update for "MacBook Pro Retina Display SMC Update 1.2" keeps appearing in Software Update
    Recommendations from Apple Support
    • Perform SMC Reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964)
(Done - no change in status)
    • Run Disk Utility
    (Done - no errors found)
    • Run Apple Hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
(Done - no errors found, no change in status)
    • Visit Apple Store
(Done - they confirmed no issue with Magsafe adapter. For a fee they are happy to change the battery if confirmed faulty and re-install the OS if the battery is not the issue but am uncertain that the OS re-install will resolve the issue because I have read online about a similar case where a re-install did not resolve the issue)
    • Check System Report/Hardware/Power
(Done - Health Information/Cycle count:0, Battery installed: No)
    • Perform NVRAM Reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379?viewlocale=en_US)
(Done - no change in status)
    Comments and additional Observations
    Please note the following;
    • All of the symptoms above appeared after a system software update on October 11, 2013
    • This update first appeared on October 10, 2013 but I was too busy to apply it especially because it required a system restart
    • The battery was fully charged when I decided to apply the update on October 11 morning after I got to work
    • Normally on full charge, the battery will typically deliver 3 - 4 hours depending on usage and up to 6 hours when idle
    • The said update was not interrupted or anything of the sort
    • On the day the symptoms were first observed when I first logged the case with apple, the system ran on battery while it performed the Apple Hardware Test while I was driving to the Apple support store on my way home even though the status bar was indicating "No battery available"
I make the following deductions solely based on my observations
    • An apple authorized system software update broke the system
    • The nature of the failure is communication related - the battery charging circuit and related systems are not getting the necessary instructions to function as they should (It's a known fact that rechargeable batteries do NOT die instantaneously, the total hours they run on full charge will gradually reduce over time as they degrade on use)
    • It’s possible the update is not being applied correctly because the item “MacBook Pro Retina Display SMC Update 1.2” is still in Software update after subsequent attempts to apply it
    • The high fan speed is nothing to do with high temperature or high processor load, according to the Activity Monitor utility the highest CPU utilization 1.9 – 4.7% is by kernel_task (PID 0) followed by activitymonitord at 1.8 – 2.2% (PID 481)
    • The symptoms match what an SMC reset should resolve according to Apple documentation
    • This is a known problem within Apple based on the documentation provided and the numerous similar cases reported online
    Summary;
The system is running OS X 10.8.5
I have provided this detailed documentation in the hope that someone who understands this system can say exactly what is going on. It's meant to be a dream machine but now you can hear the fan from across a large room, the battery doesn't charge and is in fact not recognized so I lose data if the Magsafe adapter gets unplugged, and I have to reset the system date each time I restart the notebook.
I've used this notebook with utmost care for a little more than a year, this investment of over $3,500 could have bought 3 high end notebooks from DELL or HP but I chose Apple.
I have suffered untold loss in productivity in the last 10 days since this issue occurred, I respectfully request Apple to fix my notebook.

  • "Bluetooth: Not Available" problem created by software update; need help please?

I ran a regular software update as prompted by my iMac to get to 10.6.8, and now have "Bluetooth: Not Available" with squiggly line thru it.  I've tried an SMC, updated software to 10.8.4...no availability of my Bluetooth to work the magic mouse, or any ability to access Bluetooth in System Preferences...help please?

You say you have "tried an SMC."  Reset the SMC nd PRAM again.

P.S.  It is unlikely that the update had anything to do with the missing Bluetooth.

  • YouView Software Update

My YouView box was replaced by BT on Monday 14/1 it's software  is:
    Manufacturers software 8.7.0
    Component software 1.1.11
    Platform configuration 257
    ISP 27
I have tried to manually force an update of  the software but eveytime I do this I get a message to say the latest software is installed which it clearly isn't.
Do I have to wait for the BT software update announced last week to be applied automatically or is there a way to force my box to update?

    Hi Adrian007,
I’m afraid that you’ll have to wait for the update to be applied automatically. We are still rolling this out and so hopefully you will get in the next week or two. Apologies for the delay.

  • Some radio channels not available anymore since last software update?

I remarked that since last sofware upgrade by some radio channels I get the message "the error occured while loading the content" (example FIP from category jazz which I listen very often). This is very irritating since the internet radio is the one of the features i am using very often on the apple tv.
    Anyone knows the solution?

    HI and welcome.....
It does the same thing when I log in under another user account. My mail application also stopped working at the same time.
Boot from your install disc and follow the instructions here to check the startup disk for errors. See, *Try Disk Utility*
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
If the startup disk "appears to be ok", then install the v10.6.5 Combo Update
Then repair permissions. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

  • Trying to connect my hp j6480 printer; software update not "currently" available on update site. What do I do?

My HP J6480 has never connected well with my Macbook Pro (17" early 2011) (OS10.8.4). It and is online connects seamlessly to my HP Elitebook 8460p.
Tried reinstalling printer (both via usb and wireless) to no avail. Wants a software update which is "currently" not available from apple's update site.
    Suggestions?

Try downloading and reinstalling the drivers (software) for the J6480 from the HP site.

    @ytheekshana
Since the update is just being rolled out, you will need to use PCC or Bridge for Mac, this is based on other updates on other phones, there isn't an specific date as to when it'll be released OTA.

Is there a way to make certain that I have this update? I run software update, and nothing is available, yet the problem persists.

I added this post in response to this parent post: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4209?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
The parent posts mentions the solution to my problem is the update available when you run software update. However my system is up to date, and I still have the problem.
    Further information:
When I return home from work, and wake my computer, the Wi-Fi indicator shows that it is trying to connect. It fails, and the signal bars show zero connectivity. If I click on the Wi-Fi indicator, the computer then searches for nearby networks, and I am able to select mine. Then it connects.
It seems very clear that the problem is my iMac tries to connect before looking for networks.

  • App store not showing up in software update..  Any work around for this?

When I run software update it runs and then says that all software is up to date. I don't have an option to install the app store.. Is there any other way to install it?

I totally understand the confusion. That's how I ended up here on the discussion. I am running 10.6.5, so according to Apple's instructions below, this should have worked. Apparently, they need to correct their instructions. Here's what the App Store page says about installing it:
The Mac App Store is available as a free software update for Mac computers running Mac OS X v10.6 or later. If you have an earlier version of Mac OS X, you will need to upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
    1. Update your software.
Click the Apple icon, then choose Software Update. A dialog will appear on your desktop. Click the Install button in the dialog to begin the installation. You will be instructed to restart your Mac to complete the process.
    Thanks for clearing it up.

  • Software updater or Ovi

I just updated my C7 to Anna 022014 using Nokia software updater and it tells me I am up to date and no more to download but if I go to Ovi suite it has Anna updates in 2 parts but gives an error half way through which I see many people are getting so the question is which is correct Ovi or the Nokia Software updater?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

well as it is with me..
Ovi suite shows no updates available... despite me not having been able to download Anna 1/2 or 2/2 previously...
having updated/repaired NSU.. it shows no updates available for either firmware or apps...
i honest to god am sick of all this messing about ...why is it so god damn difficult to get the full update...
previously i thought maybe it was because my broadband line speed was quite slow... but now im using a different connection elsewhere in the UK, thats got a faster line speed... its made no difference what so ever....
and still no Anna 1/2, 2/2, Ovi store or Social updates available OTA via the software updater app on the N8...

  • Software update check on apple website

Yes.  From here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#.  Select you mac to see available downloads.

  • TOP questions about Software Updates - start here

How do I update the software of my Nokia device?
You can update the software of most Nokia devices by downloading the software directly to your phone, or by using Nokia Software Updater, Nokia's free PC software.
Learn how and find out which methods are available for your device at
    http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/update-your-phone/
How do I know when there is new software available for my Nokia device?
There are several ways to be notified about new sw versions for each Nokia device:
    1) Use Nokia Suite
Whenever you connect your device to the latest version of Nokia Suite with a compatible USB cable, Nokia Suite will check if there is an update for your device. Note that this notification only works when you use a USB cable connection.
    2) Check online
You can easily check the latest available version on the
    Nokia Software Update website.
Currently Nokia does not publish the expected release dates for future software versions.
What has been updated in each new software version?
Main updates are published on the
    Nokia Software Update website.
Here are some of the most common questions from the Nokia Software Update FAQ:
Why has my device changed language after updating?
After an update, your Nokia device may restart in its native language. Changing back to your preferred language can be done from the phone settings. Full instructions may vary depending on the phone model, if you need help you can download the full user guide for your phone from the support pages of your country's Nokia web site - visit www.nokia.com/support for more details.
If your Nokia device was originally manufactured for use in another country or region, using Nokia Software Updater may revert the set of available device languages to the original language set.
If your preferred language is no longer available after using Nokia Software Updater, you may need to return your Nokia device to a Nokia Care point to have this language reinstated.
Other people can update their software but I cannot, although we have the same Nokia device model. What's wrong?
Update availability is based on many things, including existing Nokia device firmware version, country, and operator. It may be due to one of these variables that your Nokia device isn't eligible for updates.
Please note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available.
Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants have the latest Nokia device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible, and we apologise for any delay. New software may become available at a later date, however, so please check again soon.
Why doesn’t Nokia Suite detect my device?
Sometimes the drivers for your Nokia device and associated connectivity cables can become corrupted.
To resolve this, uninstall and re-install Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater:
    - In your PC’s Control Panel, go to Add/Remove programs
    - Uninstall Nokia Suite (if there are more than one entries uninstall all of them)
    - Go to www.nokia.com/support to download and install the latest version of Nokia Suite
I am not able to use Nokia Suite on any PC and my device does not support updates directly over the air. Is there an alternative way to update my device's software?
If you are not able to use Nokia Software Updater, you can visit your nearest authorized Nokia Care Point to have your software updated. Note that this may incur a charge. Locations for Nokia Care Points globally are available at the support page for your country, for details please visit http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations/

Is this inconsistency an error in the Nokia web site or an error in the Nokia Software Updater? If it's an error in the updater, is there any way forward to get the update?
I hope the firmware itself undergoes more rigorous quality checks than this update process. It appears Nokia would benefit from advice/consultancy on consistency techniques, eg why have the availability advisor and the software updater driving from different underlying data?!...

i fink nokia might be uploading the firmware give it a day if not den der summat strange going on
