Avoid Row Splits across Pages

Hi,
In the report I'm working on - I've several groups. Each row in this group is reported as a table w/ 4 rows.
Question: How can I avoid row splits of this table across pages. Pls advice.
Thanks.

This method does work. I use it all of the time. What versions are you using (XML Publisher, MS Word e.t.c.). Are you sure you are saving the new version of the template? It should not get reset in the way you are saying.
Cheers,
Dave

  • Table split across pages

    Is it possible to setup Indesign to automatically split table across frames like Microsoft Word do across pages?

    ID splits tables only between cells rows, not mid-row, but it will certainly split a table between frames.

  • Can a table cell be split across pages?

    If I have a table, several rows, and one of the cells is longer than a page, can it be split between pages? I have not  yet found a way to do it. Surely, it can be done.

    You have CS5? Make your page size twice the height for that page, then cut page in Acrobat later.
    You would also have to add a manual page number to the 'second' page and restart page numbering...
    Not pretty, but it may suit your needs...

  • How to keep together Title + table's line across pages

    Hi all, I have a question.
    I'm trying to create a .rtf template where I have a table with 4 lines and a title <PROJ_NAME>
    I need to repeat this table (with all the necessary information - 4 lines) as many times as the projects' names are stored on the DB.
    For example: if the employee has 4 projects, on the report I will see 4 times these table and the relative project name as title.
    So, the repeating group mechanism works perfectly, but I am not able to control how the table's lines are splitted across pages....
    In other words if I have two pages in my .rtf template and I am at the end of the first page:
    1) I don't want to see the title on the bottom of the first page and the relative table above on the second page (title and table splitted on two differents pages)
    2) I don't want to see the title and a portion of the table on the bottom of the first page and the rest of the table (1,2 or 3 lines) above on the second page (table splitted on two differents pages)
    At the end I'd like to see always title and table together even if the page finishes. If the title + table exced the table's vertical border, it has not be splitted, but rewrite entirely (title + table) on the next page.
    The syntax is this:
    <?for-each-group:G_PROJ;./PROJ_NAME?><?PROJ_NAME?>
    TABLE WITH 4 LINES
    <?end for-each-group?>Page break
    I tried also, reading the forum, to use the paragraph properties (Keep lines together), but nothing.....
    Anyone can suggest me something ?
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

    After the for loop,
    take a table (suppose A) with one row and one column. In that table insert the Project name tag. Below that tag, insert an inner table(suppose B) in table A with 4 rows and columns you wish. Now select the outer table A(select the whole table), and in the table properties/Row , in the options , uncheck the 'Allow row to break across pages' property.
    end the for loop.

  • Subforms across page breaks

    In LiveCycle, how do you keep subforms from being split across page breaks?  I'm working an a form in which several subforms can be added or deleted.  If I add enough of any of them, when they get to the bottom of the page, instead of getting a new page the subform splits between the pages.
    Here's a basic hierarchy of the form (excluding master pages, content areas etc.)
    MainForm
         PageA
              SubformA
              SubformB
              SubformC
         PageB
              SubformA
              SubformB
              SubformC
         PageC
              SubformA
              SubformB
              SubformC
    The subforms that can be added/deleted are SubformA, SubformB, SubformC on each page.
    The idea is to have PageA, PageB and PageC always start at the top of the page, and when enough of any of the Subforms are added, the Subform which would be split at the bottom of the page goes to the top of the new next page.   So if I add enough of PageA, SubformA to overflow the page, the last instance of PageA, SubformC goes to the top of a new page, and PageB goes to the top of the following page.

    Never mind everybody,  I figured out what I did wrong.
    The size of the content area on the master page must be the size of the form minus the space allowed for page headings.
    For example, let’s say that you have a form which is 8” wide by 11” long.  On your master page, there is a 1.5” heading which will print on each page across the top of the page.    The content area should be 8” wide by 9.5” long.
    I made the mistake of having the content area 8” wide and 11” long, thinking it should be the same as the form size and that the heading on the master page was included in that 11 -inch-length.   Wrong.
    When I pressed an add button to add a subform enough times so that the subform would overflow the page, instead of appearing on the top of the next page like I anticipated, the subform appeared to hide underneath the page break and the header of the next page.  That's because the content area wasn't filled yet. It still had another 1.5" to go.  I had to press the add button twice to get a subform to appear on the next page.  In the meantime, the new subforms continued to appear to slide under and hide underneath the page break and next page header.

  • Trying to split a table (so I can format across pages)

    Hi, I'm fairly new to a Mac and to using Pages 09 (I picked a great time to change systems when writing up something important!)
    How do I get a Table to split (as you can easily with MS Word) so that I can easily format my tables and text across multiple pages? At the moment I either have the title of a cell and then the text linked to it split across two pages - which looks silly - or I have to insert returns into the cell above it so the heading of a cell and it's contents both appear on the next page - but which then also makes the previous cell look silly with so much empty space.
    I can find all the options for splitting cells into more rows or columns but not an option to just split a table. Am I missing something or have Apple missed something?

    You missed nothing and Apple missed nothing too.
    The engineers are free to make the choices which they think beeing the best ones.
    It's really easy to achieve your goal.
    Activate the mode "Preview"
    The slider which is at the bottom of the window allow us to adjust the table width so that it fits in the page.
    In the Table inspector, we may adjust the rows height so that the wanted number of them appear in a single page without the holes generated by empty rows insertion.
    Oops, I wrote my response for Numbers, not Pages.
    but what I wrote may be done in Pages too.
    For the width, we have no slider but we may adjust it thru the Inspector of Measures.
    For the number of rows same scheme in Pages and Numbers.
    Jean-Marie … was inserted in the table to illustrate a script which may easily remove unwanted rows and, from my point of view, this one was unwanted

  • Help needed in row selection in Tabular form across pages

    Hi,
    I have a tabular form report similar to http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:95. I want to select some rows from first page and then use the pagination to get to the next page, select some more rows and hit the submit button for processing. The rows selected in the last page alone are picked up for processing, and the ones selected in the earlier pages are lost. I see the same behaviour in Denes' example as well. I picked a row in the first page and a row in the next page, and then click "Pick Records", i see only the record i picked on the second page.
    I did play around with "partial page refresh" setting for the tabular form region, but that does not help.
    Is there a way to select across pages in a tabular form?
    thanks,
    Rams

    Okay. I could make this work, but this seems to be a roundabout way for me. In my case I dont have any database related query to get the values, hence the Application level process may not be needed.
    When I select the checkbox, i get the value. I am hoping that I should be able to send the value to a javascript function and update the filed value in the function itself. Please see the function below..
    function setFileID(pThis) {
    var chkvals=pThis.value;
    var fldValue = new $x('f_FILELIST').value ;
    if (fldValue != 0)
    { $x('f_FILELIST').value= fldValue+'-'+chkvals;}
    else
    { $x('f_FILELIST').value = chkvals ;}
    This function works fine in making up the list. The issue is, when an already selected row is unselected, the value of the checkbox gets added one more time :) If I detect the checkbox status and subtract the corresponding value, this will be perfect..
    Thanks for the link anyway. I am marking this question answered.
    regards,
    Rams.

  • Report Header split across two pages in preview

    Hi there,
    I've got a full page of A4 text as my report header which works fine in the Design view. However, in preview it splits across two pages leaving about a quarter at the bottom of the first page blank. The text should easily fit on one side of A4 - any ideas why it's being split?
    Thanks

    Hi
    Ideally if you have inserted a cross tab on the report header, then it might split into more than one page.
    Please ensure that you have not put a cross tab on the report header. You can also switch to Landscape and check if it fits the report header in one page.
    Hope it helps.

  • Do nested tables conflict with ?split-by-page-break:? -getting blank pages

    I have an RTF template with multiple levels of groupingwith sub-totals and pagebreaks at several levels. I'm using nested tables to keep the lowest level group together. The nested table works fine as far as keeping the rows together - if a group doesn't fit on a page, it is pushed to the next page; however, it has created some blank pages in the report. The first time I report the lowest level group details, if they don't fit on one page, I get a blank page followed by the data. Each time the lowest level group changes, this may or may not occur depending on the amount of data.
    If you have come across this before or have some suggestions, I would really appreciate a response. I've been working on this for quite some time and have run out of things to try.
    The template is quite complex and the XML very long, so I won't post. However I can email them to you if you'd like to take a look.
    Thank you for your help,
    Tam

    Thanks for replying.
    Yes, I tried removing the <?split-by-page-break:?> and using MS hard page break (ctrl-enter) and that doesn't work either. My totals moved to a separate page by themselves and I'm still getting the blank pages.
    <?split-by-page-break:?> did exactly what it was supposed to until I added in the nested tables. It's very possible that I did something wrong with my nested tables (only my second XML report). Does anyone have a sample with nested tables that they would be willing to share?

  • Limit Number of Rows on a Page

    Hi all,
    I am unable to succeed with the following.
    I have an XML data source which looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <LIST_GEMPLOYEES>
    <LIST_G_EMPLOYEE>
    <EMPLOYEE_NUMBER>1</EMPLOYEE_NUMBER>
    <EMPLOYEE_NAME>Employee 1</EMPLOYEE_NAME>
    </LIST_G_EMPLOYEE>
    <LIST_G_EMPLOYEE>
    <EMPLOYEE_NUMBER>2</EMPLOYEE_NUMBER>
    <EMPLOYEE_NAME>Employee 2</EMPLOYEE_NAME>
    </LIST_G_EMPLOYEE>
    <!-- many rows here (LIST_G_EMPLOYEE tags) -->
    </LIST_GEMPLOYEES>
    And I want to define a template which only allows 5 rows on a page.
    What I did:
    I should insert a page break after the limit number of rows on a page is reached. This means that, after each group of 5 rows, a page break should be inserted.
    To accomplish this goal, I followed these steps:
    1. Define a field which will contain and initialize the Counter variable before the table which will show the list of employees, by using the syntax:
    Field1: <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX, ’Counter’, 0)?>
    2. Define the table which list all employees in the data source:
    2.1. Use a 2 columns table. In the first column, define 2 fields as follows:
    2.2. In the second column, define 6 fields containing the following code:
    Field2: <?for-each: LIST_G_EMPLOYEE?>
    Field3: <?EMPLOYEE_NUMBER?>
    Field4: <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX, ’Counter’, xdoxslt: get_variable($_XDOCTX, ’Counter’) + 1)?>
    Field5: <?EMPLOYEE_NAME?>
    Field6: <?if: xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX, ’Counter’) mod 5=0?>
    Field7: <?split-by-page-break:?>
    Field8: <?end if?>
    Field9: <?end for-each?>
    Here is explanation for syntax I used:
    Field1: Declare and init Counter variable to value = 0
    Field2: This fetches through all employees - start a for-each cycle
    Field3: This prints the employee number
    Field4: This increments the Counter variable
    Field5: This prints the employee name
    Field6: This tests whether Counter variable is divided by 5
    Field7: This generates a page break
    Field8: End of condition
    Field9: End of for-each cycle
    Result:
    The first page has just the header and the second page has the header and only record and it goes the same
    for the rest of the pages. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Splitting across multiple files

    I am creating large, image-heavy documents, in the zone of 40+ pages with at least 10-11 embedded PDF files (equations from LaTexiT and images from Grapher, mostly) per page. The individual files are not large, but having so many seems to make opening the files a very slow process.
    I could save each of my sections as a separate file, as I usually only need one section at a time, but I'd be sad to lose things like self-updating page counts and page numbers. But is it possible to split large Pages documents across multiple files, at least for that sort of purpose? I've seen PDF files that do this (textbooks and other enormous documents).

    No, I'm afraid that is not possible. You could save them as individual files and then update the first page number in each document manually though.
