Avoiding BLOB in export dump

Hi All,
I am taking export of entire database. Since this database contains tables with BLOB datatype, my export dump's size is 4GB where as usually it would be around 100-200MB. I want to exclude these tables in my export. Is there a way to do so. My database contains around 2000 tables.
Any help on this would be deeply appreciated.

this is one way i can think.
user user_tab_columns to identify tables with BLOB datatype.
add these list in the EXCLUDE parameter in expdp.

  • Export dump and the Oracle performance

My prod system is 10g r2 on an AIX box with 4 CPU ( oracle only uses two) and 4 G memory. It also installs with a BAAN 5c system. I noticed that when I did the export dump, the Oracle system was slow to other query processes by the BAAN and the message "Memory Notification: Library Cache Object loaded into SGA
Heap size 8356K exceeds notification threshold (2048K)" were shown up in alert log. Although there is a solution in the metalink to avoid the notification, I think it does not solve the problem underneath. Some system maintenance processes also caused that. So How can I track the real cause(s)? Maybe my original configuration need to reconfigure.

Oracle was slow because running export is rather resource intensive (lots and lots of I/O). You generally want to avoid generating an export when the system is being actively used. As an aside, I hope that you're not using the export as your primary backup...
The message you're getting (presumably in Enterprise Manager) would appear to be both reasonable and probably not the source of the slowdown. I'm not shocked to learn that BAAN has some objects which are relatively large, running an export brings them into the library cache, which generates the alert. I would expect that you'd have to get that alert in order to do an export, so it may be reasonable to turn it off if this is a regular thing.

  • Full export dump to import schema

    Hi,
I have an exp dump(datapump) of database, the command use for this:
    +/******* directory=expdump DUMPFILE=HYRT.dmp logfile=HYRT_exp.log FULL=y+*
Now, I have imported the dump with the below command:
    T24OWNER/******** directory=dor dumpfile=HYRT.dmp logfile=DGFRdmp.impdp.log REMAP_SCHEMA=USER:OWNER REMAP_TABLESPACE=DATAL:BDATA,INDEL:INDEX*
    I have got several errors.
Is this errors occured because of the import command where I used imported a schema alone?
If I use full =y parfile in the import command, will these errors can be avoided.
    Thanks in advance,

I have done import from many client export dump before but they are schema level export only.
This one is full database export where I have imported only the schema from the full exp dump. Is this the reason why am getting so many errors or anything else can you throw some light.

  • Export dump file and log file  name as sysdate in script

    Hi to All,
Can anybody help me to give logical backup export dump file namd log file name is as contain sysdate in its name so that we can Uniquelly identified it.
    Regards
    DXB_DBA

On windows it gets a bit hairy as there really is no clean and nice way of doing it.There are a couple of options.
    1. If you can rely on dateformat not changing, you can use a static substring expression. For example, the following might work w/ finnish locale echo %date:~3,2%%date:~6,2%%date:~9,4%Similarly, when you know the dateformat you can tokenize the output of 'date /t' and discard the tokens you don't want.
    2. You can set dateformat to your liking and then just use %date% in your script
    3. You can run a "SELECT to_char(sysdate,..." into a file and then read that file in your script.
    4. Simon Sheppard also has a solution you could use as a basis. I have a slight issue with the approach, but that could just be me.
    5. Use gnuwin32 or similar ;)
Also note that %date% env var is set automatically from w2k onwards, so some of the solutions might not work w/ older versions.

There probably is a utiltiy somewhere.
However, I just open the file using a simple text editor (I use vi) and look at the date on about the 10th line of the file. Just don't save ...

  • Generation sql script form export dump

I have a export dump of oracle 9i database at table level. Now I have to generate all the sqls which are in that export dupm file. Is there any way without importing this export file I can generate sql script???
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Suraj

    Hi,
As correctly said by yingkuan use the indexfile option in imp.It would create a file like below
REM CREATE TABLE "SCOTT"."XYZ" ("ENO" NUMBER, "ENAME" VARCHAR2(20),
REM "DEPTNO" NUMBER) PCTFREE 10 PCTUSED 40 INITRANS 1 MAXTRANS 255
    REM STORAGE(INITIAL 65536 FREELISTS 1 FREELIST GROUPS 1) TABLESPACE
    REM "TS_DBUSER" LOGGING NOCOMPRESS ;
    REM ... 10 rows
if ur on linux/solaris u can delete the REM by using awk command like
    awk '{ $1= ""; print}' <filename>
and this should be somewhat ready for you to run as a script in sqlplus :)
    Thanks

But for backup recovery operation you should be use rman(recover manager),and through enterprise manager you can schedule backup job.

How to write export dump commad with no datable data only table structure will there and command for hole schma.
e.g. export dump command for scott schema and all table within scott schema in it no table data should be exported.

If I understand the question, it sounds like you just need to add the flag "ROWS=N" to your export command (I assume that you're talking about the old export utility, not the Data Pump version).
