Azure Recovery Service

Hello,
We are using the Azure Recovery Service to backup data from our server (Windows Server 2012).
This has been done since almost 1 year now.
Since last October we experience problems in backuping data, jobs keep failing without any additional details.
I have totally reinstalled the Azure Agent on the server yesterday to see if it would change, but we still have issues.
It is quite hard to identify the issue and I would need help i that. Moreover, the backups are still billed as if data was consumed but our last recovery points is from 09.10.2014!
Thank you in advance for your help and support.

Hello and thank you for your answer.
Looking at the log I could extract the part where the backup fails.

When installing the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent on Windows SBS 2011 Standard I receive error code - Error : -2145124329. When looking at the file OBManagedlog.LOGCurr.errlog located here: C:\Windows\Temp extract below it appears to be failing on
the Windows Powershell 3.0 prerequisite which is apart of the .NET 3 Framework. I have tried to install this manually but it does not appear to be compatible with SBS 2011 standard. Anyone have any ideas? MS Azure cannot help until we have a paid subscription,
I have only a trial at the moment as I wanted to test the product first but have been unable to do so as i can't install the agent.

    Hi,
I searched and it seems that Windows SBS 2011 is not in the support list. Only Windows Server 2012 Essentials (and later versions) are available.

  • MS Azure Recovery Services Agent was unable to create a snapshot - 0x186C2

Hello in the Azure Backup forum,
We use Microsoft Azure Backup on a VM in Azure. We have scheduled a backup for everyday. However, so far it has not been able to backup anything it fails with:
"Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent was unable to create a snapshot of the selected volume. Please try the operation again. If the issue persists, contact Microsoft Support. (0x186C2) "
and in the Windows event log it is found that:
    Event ID 20 - volsnap:
" a volume snapshot of C:\ was interrupted - free space could not be calculated " - this has been translated from Danish.
Furthermore when I try doing a manual backup via volume shadow copy services I get the following error:
When troubleshooting and researching I find hotfixes for this type of error for Windows 2003 Server but none for Windows 2012 R2 or specifically for Microsoft Azure Backup.
Any suggestions and help will be highly appreciated :-)
Looking forward to hear from you.

    Hi,
Please change the Shadow Copy Storage limit for the System drive to NO LIMIT and check. You may refer:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/e8cac987-e3b9-4ac1-9247-a72e1f953036/was-unable-to-create-a-snapshot-of-the-selected-volume-0x186c2?forum=windowsbackup
Also, I see that in that error message it states about Free space could not be calculated. Please make sure that you have enough free space (atleast equivalent to that size of snapshot).

  • Offline data synchronization in azure mobile services on windows server 2008

    Hi,
I have a class library which insert data into tables in azure mobile services on windows server 2008 OS for windows universal C# platform. I am trying to insert data using offline data synchronization.
I had installed SQLite runtime for windows 8.1 and windows phone 8.1, but unable to add reference 'SQLite for Windows Runtime(Windows8.1)'.
Please guide me whether windows server 2008 OS supports offline data synchronization in azure mobile services.
    Thank you.

I also have a Windows Server 2012 R2 system using Azure Backup, and I don't have the problem. However, you probably noticed that you use a different Azure Backup installation download for Windows Server 2008 R2 vs. Windows Server 2012 R2. Although both
show the same Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent version 2.0.8692.0 installed, my Windows Server 2012 R2 also lists Microsoft Azure Backup for Windows Server Essentials version 6.2.9805.9 installed as well. It could be the case the my problem with the
CATALOG FAILURE 0x80131500 errors is something specific to the version of Azure Backup installed on my Windows 2008 R2 servers.

  • Azure backup services and Virtual machines

If I use the Azure backup service with the Storage server 2012 r2 and backup my virtual machines, can I then use that backup and use the virtual machine service to host them if I have a disaster to my server equipment and use it until my new hardware comes
in? If so is this a hard thing to do and what would be the best practice to follow to implement this?

    Hi Aaron,
The Azure Site Recovery is suitable for your situation.
Azure Site Recovery helps you to protect important applications by coordinating the replication and recovery of physical or virtual machines. You can replicate to your own datacenter, to a hosting service provider, or even to Azure to avoid the expense and
complexity of building and managing your own secondary location.

  • Integrating a PHP Web App with an Existing Azure Mobile Services and Mobile App

I've got an existing mobile app that is integrated with Azure's mobile services. The mobile services are currently connected to Azure Active Directory with MFA enabled. I'd like to build a separate PHP-based web application (Azure VM) that uses this existing
    mobile service and authentication.
I reviewed the Azure PHP SDK, but didn't see any tie-ins to the Mobile Service. Additionally, Azure has some great tutorials, but for mobile services they all seem to focus on iOS, Android, and Windows phone. Any insight into how to tie a PHP-app into this
    backend would be much appreciated!

Although there isn't any client library for PHP, you can still access Mobile Service using the
    Azure Mobile Service REST API.

    Hey Mikael!
I actually was struggling through pretty much the same things at the same time that you were.
The EventTriggered extension is actually in the Microsoft.Azure.AppService.ApiApps.Service namespace, so without a using directive for that it will not be happy.
I created a library to help with the metadata generation required for Triggers, and did a write-up on exactly what it takes to create both a polling and push trigger (with a few more samples) here: https://github.com/nihaue/TRex#building-a-polling-trigger-api-app
    Hopefully having that combined with
    the official docs, and also
Sameer's sample can get you on the right track.
    Hope that helps!

  • What are the performance implications moving apps using cloud drive to Azure File Services?

I run a number of cloud services with 5 or more nodes in using cloud drives. Cloud drive is scheduled to be deprecated in 2015. So I am thinking of replacing the cloud drive with Azure Files service.
For each cloud service I am using one storage account to create all the the VHD/cloud drives. Some people at the time when cloud drive first appeared, told me that to get better performance, I should create only one VHD/Cloud Drive
under only one storage account. For example, if I have five instances under a worker role then I should create 5 storage accounts and create one VHD/Cloud Drive under each storage account to be used by each node. I didn't follow that route because I was satisfied
with the performance of the apps under cloud services having all VHD/Cloud Drives under one storage account.
My question is, if I replace cloud drive with Azure file services, will my apps perform well having all shares under one storage account or create one storage account for each share?
    Thanks,
    @nazik_huq

    Thanks Obama for replying.
Here is the comment from @jaiharidas of MSFT if anyone's interested:
@Naziq, It is better to have multiple shares under single storage account and there is no perf implications. However, please ensure that your ingress/egress and request/sec is within
the limits of a single storage account (seemsdn.microsoft.com/.../dn249410.aspx)
and use multiple storage accounts if you need to scale beyond the limits.

  • Crashed Hard Disk! What is the Hard Drive Data Recovery Service, & why wasn't it offered?

I thought I had purchased the best extended warranty available.  Apparently the 3-year warranty I bought didn't include the Hard Drive Recovery Service.  I can't help but wonder why it wasn't mentioned when I bought the extended warranty. Now I have a trashed HD, and am looking at where I go from here.  I was told I should send the drive back to Toshiba... the manufacturer... for the most secure data recovery.  WHAT NOW?      who can steer me toward the best solution.  Of course, I don't have unlimited funds... and someone said it would probably cost $500 to $1000 to recover the info on my HD.  Arrgggh.  Help.
This is a TouchSmart Tx2 laptop... not even a year old.  Under original warranty and has the 3-year extended warranty.

I will check out your link...http://lowcostrecovery.com/pricing.html
Do you know anything about carbonite?  Perhaps had I gotten that service, I wouldn't be in this position.  I do back up a lot, when I'm at home.  However, we have been traveling for a coupe of months... and I'm a photographer.  Poof.  photos.   Important ones!  The tech who looked at my drive after putting it in an enclosure said he didn't "see" any files on it.  He said he HOPED I could get them recovered.  Gave me a sick feeling, as he didn't seem very hopeful that even data recovery would work.
    Thanks for your replies.

  • How to upload to Azure Media Services when using HTML5 with Web API

I keep finding examples demonstrating how to upload video to Azure Media Services through a console application.  I am developing an application using HTML5 with angularjs and web api, but am having trouble finding an example for uploading when you
are getting the file from a form on a web browser.  The main issue I find is that I see a way to upload from a file path and no way to upload from a stream.  I would like to upload the file to blob storage and then associate the file in blob storage
with the IAssetFile object, which is then associated with IAsset.  It this possible and if so can you point me in the direction of some tutorials that demonstrate this?  Also, I am allowing site members to upload videos and images.  For this
images scenario, I saw doc. demonstrating how to start a job that will save the image into a different size, what if I need four different sizes for each image uploaded?

    Hi,
the following example shows how to upload a stream into a blob and associate the blob with an asset: https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/How-to-upload-a-stream-to-d2750102.

  • Cannot connect to Azure Mobile Services as DataSource

I've created an Azure Mobile Service which is using .NET backend.
Project Siena isn't able to connect or work against this kind of data source.
    Error message is
An error occurred connecting to Azure Mobile Service
I have also tried to create zz_config support table, and implement a custom TableController for serving the URI
tables/zz_config but I could only got few steps further, still without the possibility to read and use the model exposed by Mobile Services
This behavior has been reproduced with both Beta 2 and Beta 3
P.S. Adding the AMS as REST data source makes possible to import and use the model exposed. The operation of association in this case must be done per-table in Siena
Wheb can we expect Siena to work well together with the new version of Azure Mobile Services?

Yes, that article is indeed precise and updated. I followed all steps described properly, especially for the part about setting up the database structure, and create
zz_config table (second post of the series)
I can connect to AMS (JS Backend) with Siena, but tables' names aren't showing up correctly, but display as
undefined, and from there on doesn't work properly.
JSON object returned from GET /tables/zz_config?$filter=(Key%20eq%20'table')
    "id": "ccb9c9a8-9bae-41c8-87aa-277e2e0d1379",
    "key": "table",
    "value": "users"
I do confirm I have the same (incorrect) behavior using a .NET Backend where I set up
zz_config table and create a TableController mapped with it; with route
    tables/zz_config
I confirm also I had the same behavior this morning with Beta 2, before I installed Beta 3.
P.S. The error message reported in my first post is returned only when the table
zz_config isn't setup correctly on AMS

  • How to use Phone camera for live streaming rather than using WireCast camera in Live streaming using Azure Media Services

    Hi,
am planning to develop a live streaming app using C# and xaml.
I have gone through the below sample and am able to stream the live content using wireacst camera.
Azure Media Services Live Streaming Sample
But i want to use Phone camera to stream the live video rather using wirecast camera.
How can i use that? How to get the published URL from the C# code, is there any API to get that?
    Anybody please help me
    Regards,
    Santhosh

    Hello,
There are no in box components that will allow you to transmit captured video from a Windows Phone device to Azure Media Services. You will need to create you own implementation. You can do this by creating a custom Media Foundation sync that can plug into
the MediaCapture element's pipeline. You will then need to modify the captured and compressed video to align to one of the two protocols that Azure Media services can use. At this time Azure Media services can use either Smooth Streaming or RTMP for ingestion.
You will need to create your own packager (or find compatible packager code from a 3rd party) to package the MP4 encoded data into the necessary format.
Here is an example of how to create a custom Media Foundation sync (please note you must write your Media Foundation components using C++ MoCOM. We do not support Media Foundation components written in managed languages):
    Real-time communication sample
    I hope this helps,

  • Compare templates in Visual Studio for an Azure Web Service

I know I want to create a web service in Azure for consumption by native mobile apps as well as a web application for use on mobile devices, laptops etc. OAuth and Sql Server would be nice too.  It seems I can choose from the following templates in
    VS:-
    Azure Mobile App
    Azure Mobile Service
    Azure Api App
    ASP.NET Web Application - Web Api sub-template
ASP.NET Web Application - MVC sub-template with Web Api "core reference"
My understanding is you could choose any of these and add what's missing into it, however I would like as much guidance as possible as I am trying to learn at the same time.  So how does one choose the path of least resistance, ie one
that starts with the most appropriate combination of technologies supported, with the least amount of unnecessary support that is not required, and using the most modern techniques going forward?  Is there a comparison somewhere that could assist me?
I have created new examples of these projects using VS2015 and compared what is generated in an attempt to understand, but even then I see similar libraries included but with slightly different names or versions eg
    package id="Microsoft.Azure.Mobile.Server.Tables" version="0.1.506"
    vs
    package id="WindowsAzure.MobileServices.Backend.Tables" version="1.0.438"
thanks in advance - any advice gratefully appreciated.

  • "Failed to debug the Windows Azure Cloud Service project. The Output directory .... does not exist" - Looking for Solution Config Name Folder?

    Good evening,
I've been working on and with a VS2013 Update 2 / Azure SDK 2.3 Cloud Service project for a while now and never had a problem debugging it (setting the .ccproj Project as Startup Project) but at the moment I cannot Debug it anymore - I always get the following
    error message:
Failed to debug the Windows Azure Cloud Service project.  The output directory 'D:\Workspace\Development\Sources\AzureBackend\csx\Backend - Debug' does not exist.
Now what's odd here, is the last part - the "Backend - Debug" is the Solution configuration name, ALL projects in that particular solution configuration are set to the Debug Configuration. The .ccproj file also only specifies Debug|Any CPU (and
Release|Any CPU respectively) as its output folder(s). Why is the Solution config appearing up there?
And more importantly.. why is this happening and what can I do?!

connect bug and these sorts of issues do appear around the forums but none contains a solution (neither reinstalling the Azure SDK nor cloaking the workspace/re-retrieving & building everything worked).

    Good morning Jambor,
I already tried de-installing everything Azure-Tooling related including the Azure SDK, Restarting my machine and re-installing the SDK.
Same result. I can build the .ccproj perfectly fine and the cspack file IS generated perfectly fine, only debugging does not work and there's NO information in the VS output window (again - all projects succeed to build).
I tried explicitely running VS as Administrator, no change. I removed all IIS Express sites (as the ccproj has one web worker role), remapped my local TFS workspace.. nothing helped.
As building works, deploying to Azure Cloud Service (manually and via Publish inside VS) all works -perfectly-, I am pretty sure this IS a bug and I'd LOVE to help to get this fixed. As I said, currently I cannot debug and/or run & test my work, hence
    I cannot do ANY work.
