Azure - Setting up development environment

Hi
I am looking at doing a proof of concept for moving our companies current web site/app to azure.
Our site makes use of redirecting to sub domains so am i right in thinking that to debug in development i would have to host it locally on IIS so i can setup the relevant bindings? If this is true, when i swap out our current caching implementation for an
azure in role one, when i debug or run locally what will happen?
How will the azure components or references be handled in IIS when not using the emulator? Is this even possible?
Thanks in advance.
Nic

Hi,
Which azure service do you want to move your web site/app? Could you try to rewrite web.config to set URL redirect rules, if that, we only need to change web.config instead of debug in local. If I misunderstand, please feel free to let
me know.

  • Setting up development environment with several projects

We struggle with Workshop when having a large workshop application. One way of getting out of this issue was to use several deployments and to use WSRP as a mechanism to get resources from several deployed portlet applications. Performance isn't an issue for our deployment.
This setup might help us with having smaller Workshop applications and making the development environment more efficient, but we see some issues with this.
    - Framework package
How should we handle the framework part with CSS files. Duplicating these framework files is not a good solution since some developers most certainly will forget to update all framework files when editing them.
    - Portal Administration
Can we just drop the portal administration web app in the most of the workshop application?
    - Data project
We use a custom UUP. How should this be handled when splitting the workshop application into several smaller applications?

I used this for a little different purpose; we wanted to generate the whole development environment at one mouse click (formsweb.cfg, reports server etc.); as we used ANT for creating the svn local working copy for each developer we used ANT for this. but you can also use perl or bash :D.
I'd create one template, then loop through all directorys and append the configs to a temp file
    /var
         /you
/not_you=> create one config section named as the folder in the temp file basing on your template.
in your real formsweb.cfg you might append a line like
    # THE DEVELOPER CONFIGS STARTS HERE
after that you locate your config-entries.
when the temp formsweb.cfg is ready, simply delete everything after
    # THE DEVELOPER CONFIGS STARTS HERE
and append the configs from the temp file.
    That's the way I'd do this ;)

  • Error Page shown while runnning a Test page from Development environment

    Hi,
I have set the development environment for JDeveloper with OA Extension.
I completed the setup steps for "You are Customer,Consultant or Support Rep".
I have created a new Database Connection for the DB server and obtained "Success" status on clicking "Test Connection" buton in the Dtabase Connection wizard.
When I run the Test JSP(Tutorial.jpr),I get an error page.
It shows following exception with a lengthy stack trace.
    oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException:
Application: FND, Message Name: FND_GENERIC_MESSAGE. Tokens: MESSAGE = java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01003: no statement parsed
A reply about solution for this issue would be of great help.
    Thanks,

  • ISupplier - Setting up the Development Environment with JDeveloper 9.0.3

    Hi friends,
Can you please tell me the steps involved in setting up the development environment for iSupplier Module with JDeveloper in my PC.
Please give me the details about what are the files to be downloaded from Apps, folder structure for development environment etc...
    Gurus please reply ASAP.
    Thanks,
    San

You should better pick the class files from the JAVA_TOP appropraite to that product and add it to either myclasses in your project in jdev or add it to the classpath.
Once you have these required files then you can launch the pages by either using a test.jsp or use the xml files directly if you know what parameters to pass. I would suggest you to use a test.jsp and launch the first page in the flow which launches from the menu - function by picking it's web_html_call.

  • Development environment set up

    Hi,
I just want to set up a development environment for ISA and was going through the Dev and Extension Guide. I have the following questions that I need help with:
    a) What version of Developer workplace is required? Can I use the latest or have to stick with 2004s only for ISA development? I see there are two more later versions NW 7.0  SR3 Developer Workplace and NW 7.0 EHP1 SR1 Developer Workplace.
    b) Do I need to have NWDI? I only intend to make changes on my laptop and test it. The server version will remain AS-IS.
    Any inputs are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Thanks for you answers. I am trying to install the developer workplace on Windows 7 (64 bit OS) with SQL server 2008.
    I get the following error
Running msiexec failed with return code 1603: Fatal error during installation.
    Commandline was msiexec.exe /norestart /L sapmmcX86u.log /i sapmmcX86u.msi /qn
I check some sdn posts on this error but the solutions refer to updating MSI installer on Windows XP. no solution to windows 7
    Any ideas...?

  • Correctly setting up a C++ development environment with clang++

I'm going to reinstall Arch x64 soon, as the current installation was not done properly, and I have some doubts on how I should set up my development environment correctly.
My compiler of choice is clang++ 3.4 SVN and my IDE of choice is QTCreator git.
I currently get and install those manually, but I may use the AUR in my next Arch installation.
Anyway, the issue is that QTCreator and other applications use /usr/bin/c++ by default, which is g++.
To solve (horribly) the issue, I changed my /usr/bin/c++ to an executable bash script that fowards the arguments to clang++.
This lead to issues such as warnings and errors not being catched by the IDE.
My question is: what is the correct way to set up a clang++ development environment?
How can I set clang++ as the default compiler for everything except AUR packages?
If you use clang++ as your main compiler, how did you solve this issue?

The canonical method of setting your (C++) compiler is to set the CXX environment variable.
Searching Google for "qtcreator compiler" yields things like: https://qt-project.org/doc/qtcreator-2. … hains.html

  • Setting up the development environment

    hi,
can anybody suggest the best way to set up the weblogic server
    development environment.
we are a group of 5 EJB developers working on weblogic 7.0.
    (evaluation version)
each one is developing ejbs which has to interact with other
    developer's beans.
each one has installed the server on their own m/c. for developing and
    testing the beans.
Once done, integration of the ejbs is done on another server and
    tested.
should we use a single server for development? but that may lead to
shutdown/ restart of the server frequently during testing and affect
    the other developer's work.
anybody please suggest a better way.
    thanks in advance.

anilYour milleage may vary from others, here we had this environment setup for
a 7 people developing WLS applications:
    - Single server for development (Sun Solaris box)
    - using remote telnet from Windows workstation/linux workstation
    - create a source code repository (e.g. CVS) for source code control and
    user workspace
    - create standard deployment descriptor with modular directory structures
    - system admin only allowed to startup and shutdown server
    - server running in "Development Mode" for hotdeploy and avoid shutdown

  • Setting up Oracle DB 11G in a development environment

    Hi
I need to setup a new development environment with Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Apps Server 10G Forms and Reports.
Currently we are running a live system (using Microsoft Virtual PC) on a domain and the virtual servers are joined to the domain.
Where I want to get to with the new development environment is to be able to eventually move these new virtual servers to a completely new domain.
What would be the best way to set this up to minimize the amount of work when setting up the database and apps server with the assumption that I will want to migrate the virtual servers to a new domain in the future. Would it be better to set up a basic workgroup and do the installation of both virtual servers in a workgroup environment?
Also besides having security enhancements is there any advantage of having Oracle installed on a server versus installing on a Windows XP box?
    Many thanks.

İf you first try to create db you get above errors, then you select "Create new objects in schema" option drop&create process starts.
    Result :
TESTTYPEıD_TRG, CUSTOMOPTıONıD_TRG , ıSSUEVERSİONTYPEıD_TRG triggers are dropped and but not created again. ETESTPAGEID_TRG, TESTCASEATTACHMENTID_TRG, ATTCHSTDATA_TRG are newly created instead
As I mentioned above after creation of ATTCHSTDATA_TRG, it throws an error and process stop. In additon, due to this error, all the dropped views are not created again.
All my problem is newly created triggers an couldnt created views I suppose.
    Please advice
    thank you

  • Setting up developer's environment

    Hi everyone.
Sorry if I sound slightly annoyed (it took me an hour to get to this point of posting this question -- after looking for answers, not finding any, then trying to register, activating my account, and then the forums telling me my account isn't active. Took awhile to figure out I had to log out and log back in after the forums automatically logged me after activating. Really doesn't make any sense).
    OKAY
    I need direction.
    I have a few questions:
    - How do I setup my developer's environment for java. I've spent all of yesterday evening trying and failing in every possible way. I've downloaded and installed probably 4 different things and none of which is what I need. Let me expand. I was told to get JDK 1.5.0. So I searched for it on sun and found Java SE 5 and Java EE 5 (both of which I downloaded and installed). Both of which tell me I can't compile - I/O Error: Cannot run program "javac". I've double triple and quadruple checked my environment paths ensuring that - C:\sun\java\jdk\bin is in there. I've loaded up cmd, and javac works off the bat. Still can't compile, same error. Then downloaded Java SE 6, Java SE 6, of which had the same problem. Why isn't any of this working? I just want jdk 1.5.0 and nothing else. Perhaps I should download and install Java ME? or is that bad? I don't have any previous versions of the jdk, (except for ones built into the IDE), so I don't need updates. Also, I'm aware that EE is for servlets, but what other options do I have when SE did not work?
Essentially: How do I download and install jdk 1.5.0 and only jdk 1.5.0?
    - Why isn't there an official resource on information regarding the different types of developer sdk resources and what is needed? Would be nice to also have information regarding what EE, SE and ME is meant for what apps. I'm probably not looking at the right place, but when I click details, I kind of expect to get details on the package and what it comes with. Installing is nothing short of surprises on what I'm getting
Essentially: Where do I find official information about Java SDKs? Why is all the information I need in the forums under thousands of posts?
    - Is it possible to customize installs? Select options on what I want, and not installed as a giant ugly bundle?
Essentially: Probably no, but would be nice for install customizations.
    - Where can I provide feedback or suggestions to Sun? I'd like to let them know to provide human readable titles to the software descriptions. Their download packages are confusing. i.e.:
Java Development Kit 5.0 for Web Applications
    JDK 5.0 with Java EE
This distribution of the Java SE Development Kit (JDK) is included in the Java EE 5 SDK, which contains the GlassFish application server and provides web services, component-model, management, and communications APIs that make it the industry standard for implementing enterprise-class service-oriented architecture (SOA) and Web 2.0 applications.
Please just reply with links directing me to resources. I'd rather not have ppl reply with flames, obvious answers, and the such.
I almost give up. Very likely this thread will be banned or trashed for duplicate posts somewhere in the last 5 years.

For example, when you say "can't compile" we default to assuming that means you can't compile from the command line. But you later say Javac works fine from the command line. So where is compilation failing? In your IDE? what IDE?
You don't need Java EE or Java ME (they're for enterprise and mobile developers respectively; if and when you need it, you'll know). You also probably want the JDK 6, not JDK 5 (might as well learn on the latest and greatest; it's backwards compatible anyway). The place you should have gotten it from is: [http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp]. Look for JDK 6 Update 17 (not with EE, not with ME, and definitely not "JRE 6 Update 17").
    - Why isn't there an official resource on information regarding the different types of developer sdk resources and what is needed? Essentially: Where do I find official information about Java SDKs? Why is all the information I need in the forums under thousands of posts?I would start here: [http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/getStarted/index.html]. That will take you through how to set up your environment, up to giving you tutorials about the language and platform itself.
Also, it will teach you how to develop without an IDE to start with. That's an important first step to make, and you've bypassed it.
    - Where can I provide feedback or suggestions to Sun? I'd like to let them know to provide human readable titles to the software descriptions. Their download packages are confusing. i.e.:
Java Development Kit 5.0 for Web Applications

Giving completely indepth and plain-english information for somebody brand-new to Java in that little description area would just make it more difficult for intermediate or senior developers (who know these terms already) to quickly find what they're looking for. Some documentation is bound to assume something about the level of developer. That's why you should stick to the Getting Started tutorial; it's written knowing you know nothing :-).
I almost give up. Very likely this thread will be banned or trashed for duplicate posts somewhere in the last 5 years. No, we'll get you sorted out.

  • Setting Up Shared Development Environment

Is there any diagrams, white papers, guides or best practices on setting up the J-Developer and connecting to shared Services and database? The Developer guide (E10148.pdf) does not really cover what the standards is or the overall infrastructure of the JDeveloper and setting up a Shared Developer enviroment.
I looking for something like http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/fusionapps.1111/e15524/gs_install_e.htm but for (11.1.1.6.0) version webcenter.
I basically looking for something to help me get our Shared Development Environment setup with Jdeveloper.

The issue is connecting the Jdeveloper to the WebCenter DS and Activity DS schemas. In the Development guide it says I need to connect to these schemas to be able to utilize several of the WebCenter Services, ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_svc_intro.htm#BHCDJHAI - 7.2.2 Setting Up a Database Connection
We are trying to set up the connection to our shared development environment database. Our database group is concerned with giving developers access to these schemas. They are concerned that JDeveloper will changes or modify the schema and cause the database to fail. They created a account with read only access but we are not sure it this will work.
I been trying to find anything in the documentation to find what access JDeveloper needs to the WebCenter DS and Activity DS schemas and if JDeveloper can modify these schema in any way.
Additionally try to find anything on the best practices on connecting to a shared database and setting up a Development environment and its connection to Jdeveloper .

  • Setting a new EJB + JSF development environment

    Dear friends,
nowadays me and some friends are dealing with the task of define the a Java development environment for a big enterprise...
After some discussion and also evaluating the available machinery (a Z/os mainframe, a DB2 database and some oter minor servers...) - we decided to use EJB + JSF/Servlets.
The JSF 4.0/Servlets support web requests while the Mainframe bundle the business components (EJB 2.1).
    Is that correct?
have you some advices about our first decisions ?
the development tools will be also discussed but we are pending to Eclipse WTP and JBoss for local tests.. and also MAVEN and ANT to integrate all this bunch of technologies....
do you have some tip about plugins or frameworks that could help us to design a confortable and productive office ?
    best regards,
    Felipe Gacho

    Hi Louis,
Thanks for the swift reply and for the insight into how Jdeveloper initialisation operates. I have since added the "ojaudit -profilehelp" to the setup scripts so that the system folder is correctly initialised. However, it is still not helping with my problem :(
The preferences.xml file is not getting created as part of the call. It creates quite a few other files, but not preferences.xml
    $ ojaudit -profilehelp

    Brief.kdf DefaultWorkspace Emacs.kdf audit
    Classic.kdf Default_macosx.kdf VisualCPP.kdf ide.properties
    $
I tried copying in a pre-created file, but i still see the same exception as before.
At the moment, i am doing pretty much what the other team are doing in the make file :
    export JDEV_USER_DIR ; $(T_WORK)/jdevshiphome/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojaudit -profilehelp
    $(CP) $(NDE_PRODUCT_ROOT)/setup/preferences.xml $$PREF_FILE
    $(CHMOD) +w $$PREF_FILE;\
Do you know how they generated the preferences.xml that they pick up from the setup directory? Maybe this is where im going wrong.
The steps I follow to generate mine are:
    - Install Jdeveloper
    - Open jdeveloper, and use my audit profile as default.
    - close jdeveloper.
    - Copy the generated preferences.xml into my setup scripts.
Then as part of the installation process
    - Install jdeveloper (using a script).
    - Run ojaudit -profilehelp.
    - copy the preferences.xml file into the o.jdeveloper directory.
    - Start Jdeveloper.
Do I need to make some changes to this preferences.xml to somehow make it more generic before it can be reused.
    Thanks,

  • Development environment for SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
We have requirement for one of the project. Team size would be approximately 30 resources. Development would be entirely for SharePoint 2013 Intranet solution. this will be OOTB Intranet application. We will be developing InfoPath forms and Nintex Workflows.
For such requirement we would like to setup local development environment by using either Virtual Machines.
Can anyone help me to identify that how many VM's would be required for the same? How many simultaneous users can use and work at a time? What other things I need to consider for infrastructure? How can i suggest the best possible solution for this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Abhijeet Khopade

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set up the environment for SharePoint Development.
Here is a detailed article about configuring development environment:
Setting up a SharePoint 2013 Development Environment
For VM count, it depends on your project development requirements, for VM license and management ,if you are using Hyper-V, I suggest you can create posts in Hyper-V forum:

  • Serious performance issue with LV 7.1 Development Environment

I'm posting this issue to the forums prior to submitting a bug report to ensure that the problems I'm having are reproducible. To reproduce this bug, you're going to have to be an advanced user with a large project (hundreds to thousands of VIs) as the performance problem is related to the number of VIs loaded.
The issue is the increasingly poor performance of the LabVIEW 7.1 Development Environment as the number of VIs in memory increases. The actions affected include switching between front panel and diagram, saving a VI, copy and paste, clicking a menu, and the mysterious time spent (compiling? editing the runtime menu? changing the toolbar state?) between pressing the run button and when the code actually starts executing. Scrolling and, interestingly, copying via a control-drag are not affected. Running time of entirely on-diagram code does not seem to be affected.
These problems are quite severe and significantly decrease my productivity as a programmer. Since they are development environment UI issues, it's been difficult for me to find a good example VI; the best I can do is the attached "LV Speed Test.vi". It doesn't test the issues that affect me most, but it seems to suffer from the same problem.
This simple VI just shows and hides the menu bar 100 times in a tight for loop. When it is the only VI loaded, it executes in about 350 msec on my machine. (2.4 GHz P-IV/640 MB RAM/Win2k). However, when I load a single project-encompassing VI (let's call it the "giant") that references a total of about 900 user and VI-lib subVIs, the test routine takes almost a minute and half to run...about 240 times slower! I've tried this on my laptop with similar results.
The problem appears to be related to the *number* of VIs loaded and not the memory utilization. For example, if I close the "giant", and create a new VI ("memhog") that does nothing but initialize a length 20,000,000 array of doubles and stores it in an uninitialized shift register, LabView's overall memory usage (as shown in the task manager) jumps enormously, but LV Speed Test executes in about 450 msec...only slightly slower than with a fresh copy of Labview.
The problem seems to be related to excessive context switching. The Windows task manager shows over a thirteen hundred page faults occur when "LV Speed Test" is run with the "giant" in the background, versus zero or none when run by itself or when "memhog" has used up 160+MB of space.
The problem only seems to affect the frontmost window. (Unfortunately, that's where we LV programmers spend all of our time!) If you start "LV Speed Test" and then put "giant" in the foreground "LV Speed Test" runs much faster. In fact, if you use the VI server to put the "giant" VI in the foreground programmatically at the start of "LV Speed Test", execution time drops back to 450 msec, and there are no page faults!
These results show the issue is not related to video drivers or the Windows virtual memory system. My suspicion is that there is a faulty routine in LV 7.1 that is traversing the entire VI hierarchy every time certain events are thrown in the foreground window. It could be due to a problem with the Windows event tracking system, but this seems less likely.
I have been programming LV for about 7 years and switched from LV 6.1 to 7.1 about four months ago. I know NI engineers have put thousands of hours developing and testing LV 7.1, but honestly I find myself wishing I had never upgraded from using LV 6.1. (To whomever thought "hide trailing zeros" should be the default for floating point controls...what were you thinking?!)
I know each new version of LabView causes old-timers like me to grouse that things were better back in the days when we etched our block diagrams on stone tablets, etc., and honestly I'm not going to go back. I am committed to LabView 7.1. I just wish it were not so slow on my big projects!

    Hi,
I can confirm this behavior. Setting the execution system to "user
interface" helps a bit, but there is still a big difference.
I get a feeling it has something to do with window messages, perhaps
WM_PAINT or something, that is handled differently if a VI is not
frontmost... But what do I know...
Don't know if it should be called a bug, but it sure is something that could
    be optimized.
    Regards,
    Wiebe.

I overcame the above issue by changing index.html to index.jsp, but now i am facing another issue as shown below:
On top of the above change i too included j2ee.jar (from websphere) in the classpath to overcome the below issue, but even then i am getting the same error.
