Backup of NWDI webdynpro customizations

Is there a way to backup NWDI webdynpro customizations? I have a query.
The webdynpro objects were customized and assembled, thereby creating many 5 KB files of ESS, MSS, PCUI etc. Because of the webdynpro customization, there are hundreds of broken DCs. So I would like to backup all these customizations (i.e. the SCAs files in assemble directory) and the other webdynpro customizations into a seperate place and then proceed with installation of a new track right from scratch, then install the required SCAs and later re-apply those customizations. Is there any way to do it. Points will be rewarded for any kind of help.

I feel that i am in a right track, these are the steps i followed
1. Downloaded SAPLink 1.0.4 version
2. Created a report , activated and executed it
3. Used the downloaded Nugget file as import parameter and executed successfully
4. Downloaded SICF,Webdynpro Component,Application, plugins
5. Imported the .nugg / .slnk files and activated then in SE24,
6. Created a new NUGGET and added an object
a. webdynpro component
b. webdynpro application
my doubt here is it is showing all the classes which i used in my program, do i need to manually import all the classes one by one or it will automatically import all the files which i used,
if you have any idea which are the plugins to be used and which are all the objects need to be added to the Nugget.

yes, FPM is the framework which all self service applications follow. Hence all the self service applications have same patterns. The thread I referred you in first reply, contains a gudd xplanation of FPM. Plus you can find the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/b4/139525380149a49c8402e22700e4ba/frameset.htm">documentation</a> of FPM helpful.
Its a framework which self service applications follow. hence no need to separately implement it.
Is ESS/MSS deployed and running in your portal?
But still you need to setup JDI for making any code changes to ESS/MSS applications.

Hi keerthi,
Portal services means any application launched or integrated in portal through iViews is called Portal Services.
If you are customizing ESS, so there can be two ways to show the company legal certificate as per your requirement, one way is you need to customize or modify the code in the web dynpro application in NWDS(Netweaver Developer Studio) and launch them in the portals.
another way can be through portal itself, but I dont know this method...AFAIK this is not straight forward.
Are you a portal developer or web dynpro developer? i dont know what your expertise is?. so, please come back for further information.

Question on NWDI and DC for web dynpro for ESS components

Hi
I am working on installing NWDI and mostly we will be working with ESS & MSS webdynpro customization for NW2004s.
I have a doubt, now for customizing the web dynpro components of ESS is it just enough to create the SC and track and once doing this will the developers get to the DC's of ESS?
Or initially do I have to download the editable part of the web dynpro components and deploy it in the server?
I am not sure how the web dynpro components are made available for the developers. Please help me understand.

Consolidated backup report for Non-RMAN

We need to prepare a consolidated backup report. need to customize it and produce a master list for production backup failures/ non prod backup failures
wondering what's the options & how to do that ....

Oracle maintains no information about User Managed Backups.
The only things that you can get are the
"ALTER TABLESPACE||DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP" and ".. END BACKUP"
commands from the alert.log. You could write a script to parse the alert.log
and find the start and end times for the BEGIN and END BACKUPs.

Strange problem - WebDynpro DC after importing from standalone WD

I am having a strange problem. I have a webdynpro
project which is not on NWDI and was deployed , working
fine. Now, I created a WebDynpro DC, and I imported the
working non-dc project to new WebDynpro DC. This
webdynpro is straight forward.
Now, When i activate the DC its deployment is failed.
After a 2 days of investigating to the Traces, I found

Strange thing is in the Exception trace, It is says conflicting with the local webdynpro from which i imported to this DC.

Interesting and Time consumed bug. Here is the answer/solution i have found for this kind of problem.
As VMO id is same for the non-nwdi webdynpro and nwdi-webdynpro(which imported non-nwdi webdynpro), We need to go in Visual Administrator and Undeploy the non-nwdi webdynpro ie., local/WDXyz.
Once you undeployed that webdynpro then you can try for this nwdi-webdynpro.
This is the solution!!!

Backup of ASA5500's

I would like to schedule automatic backups of our ASA5500's OoO-hours:
1. SSH from secure server and create _FULL_ backup - what would be the CLI command(s) ?
2. SCP from secure server and retreive file(s) - what is the location of the file(s) ?

Most people use a tool like RANCID or CiscoWorks to get configuration backups.
The running-config and startup-config are straigtforward commands to get them from enable mode.
more system:running-config
show startup-config
That first command will make sure you get plaintext preshared keys for any VPNs you have setup with PSKs. "show running-config" will mask all PSKs. All backup methods will mask the device's enable password.
A _FULL_ backup would include things like customization, certificates, Anyonnect images, xml profiles, etc. It's not easily scripted but is built into ASDM GUI (Tools, Backup Configurations). Here's a list of what happens "under the covers" when you do that:

An scp of the files would normally be able to pull the images, certificates etc. from the root directory of disk0: (the internal comapct flash card). That is their default location but one could use the external slot (disk1:) as well if desired.
startup-config is stored in a hidden directory - disk0:/.private/startup-config
running-config is in DRAM and not directly "scp-able" AFAIK. If you're following best common practices, running-config should not be out of sync with startup-config.

Anyone using OEM for scheduling backups?

I'd like to see a poll for the number of users using OEM for taking database backups. Had some interesting conversations with some colleagues via social media and it seems like some DBAs don't trust OEM for their backups even though the feature works IMO.

I have 91 scheduled recurring backup jobs running through OEM 12c BP1. They work quite well. I've only noticed a few problems and nitpicks:
1) Occasionally, for unknown reasons, a backup job against a newly-added database target will fail stating that the backup cannot be run since the database is closed. The database is not closed, it's up and running fine. Changing the backup job to run using SYS as SYSDBA credentials resolves this problem.
2) Identification of failed backups is not as customizable as I would like. For example, if I have a full "backup database plus archivelog" running, and during the course of that backup an archivelog backup runs and deletes archived logs, OEM will report that the backup job has failed since RMAN throws an error about not being able to backup an archivelog it expected to find. I dealt with this by adding SKIP INACCESSIBLE to the backup statement. I'm not totally comfortable about that but I monitor for offline datafiles so I consider this only a minimal risk. Our custom backup scripts used to catch this warning and ignore it.
3) It's really annoying that, after creating a backup job through the target Availability -> Schedule Backup tool, I cannot then run a 'Create Like' against that backup job to create a nearly identical one against a different database target. You have to schedule each of them from the Schedule Backup tool. Clicky clicky clicky clicky.
4) A backup job created through the 'Schedule Backup' tool has a job type of 'Database Backup', therefore when the job fails a high-availability incident is created, so you can configure incident rules to receive notification of this event. This is good. Unfortunately a backup job created from the Jobs page has a job type of 'RMAN Script' does NOT create an incident on job failure out of the box. I've had difficulty configuring incident rules to catch failures for RMAN Script job types. This is not good.
5) The repeating schedule options for jobs are limited compared even to something like cron. I can schedule a job for a day of the week, or a day of the month, but cannot easily schedule a job for "the first Tuesday of each month". This can be worked around.
6) After creating and submitting a backup job through the Schedule Backup tool, you cannot edit the RMAN script without recreating the job. You can only edit the RMAN script before submitting the job. I deal with this by having my backups run stored scripts in the recovery catalog, and make the changes there if I need to change something.
7) It is very annoying that if I 'stop' a repeating job (instead of suspend), there is no way to resume that job. It has to be recreated. This is my own user error -- I just don't click the stop button. Not OEM's fault but I'd rather not even have that button.
8) No ability to sequence jobs. You can sequence steps within a job, but then the entire job succeeds or fails as a unit. If you want to back up database A then immediately back up database B afterwards, you have to create a multi-task job. The multi-task job has the same problem as item #4 above such that it does not create a "backup failed" incident when the backup fails.
Even with all of these gripes, I am quite pleased with the backups I have running through OEM.

Exporting iView as .PAR

Hi all,
I'm trying to export an iView of an ESS business package from the portal onto my local pc as an .PAR file. Reason being to import this .PAR file into Netweaver Developer Studio(NWDS) to customize.
I know Transport is 1 way to export it out. However, Transport could only save it as an .EPA file, which I cannot load into NWDS. Could anyone pls enlighten me on how to go about doing it? Thanks in advance!

You cannot modify the ESS iView by importing the PAR file and customize using NWDS, as it is developed using webdynpro and not portal component so u have to use NWDI to customize the ESS business package.

Rewrite the vhd file created by win7 image creation

Hi,
I'm trying to do something, something more to utilize the image vhd file, not just leave it there as a pure backup file.
After the vhd gets attached, it can be accessed as a usual hard drive. Change anything like copy a random file into it, name it file A, then reboot the system, press F8 and call the image restore procedure.
15min or more, I get the restored system. However file A meant to be in there at the exactly location I copied to, as a matter of fact it's non there..
Isn't that possible to customize the vhd file created by sys creation program? I even would like to apply differencial VHD storage to customize the backup VHD and eventually customize the physical OS at a low risk.
In this case, it seems impossible to make it work.

Not just create a file, but a fully functional installation of Win7 with up-to-date software set. Whereas the physical machine( the host of the backup VHD file), which I just take as a nude sys with image-creation-and-restoration functioning. In another word,
the child VHD file is the future of its parent, as well as the nude host.
Well，in my case, no yahoo for where is the file I created, but yahoo for where is my fully installed windows!
Since we discussed so far, I'd like to share another phenomenon,weird one, which I think is the reason why I insist working on this.
My physical windows- the nude one, how does it get installed? Guess what! From VHD backup file, just through the restoration procedure, and it's done!(Before the nude, the ex is a dying version- which could no longer endure my toture... and the most original
root VHD backup came from that version before I killed it.)
Think about it, what I am trying to do right now is just to rerun the holy restoration...
Unfortunately, miracle dies in coincidence, it never happens again so far...
VSS is a nice clue, I shall follow.

Add fields if required by the customer

Need to capture mulitple profiles in a single form. Customer should be able to add n number of profiles. That is after adding one profile, an option to add another profile form and fill up.
Don't want to send a 5-10 page long form with the same fields repeated. Looking for a dynamic form where customer can select number fo profiles or keep on adding new profiles.

I have created my new field in (CI_INCLUDE) I can chose entries in ESS. However when saving the new entry it does not update ERP in the back end.

Shutting down when editing

Since upgrading to 2.1.3, aperture shuts down completely when i click on the "adjustments" section, then the pulldowns (one is the gear wheel, the other is the +). i just want to use the vignettes and/or the sepia and it won't even highlight it for me to click before shutting down. it is infuriating as i am editing photos for a client.
please help!

Make sure Aperture is not open, then after first backing up, try deleting the "AdjustmentPresets.plist" file in your Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Aperture
Failing that, just backup the entire directory of Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Aperture someplace else, then delete it. This will get Aperture running without all your customizations, then you can (with Aperture closed) add back the files slowly from your backup to add your customizations back (if any). Do this slowly so you'll be able to know which file is corrupt and not use.

i bought My new HP pavilion G4 laptop just two days ago and didnt change any thing in two Drives named Drive C: for windows and D: for HP Recovery.
now i want to Make a Recovery Disk with HP Recovery Manager Software.
but it show a Massage: "Recovery Partition has been Removed" in Recovery Media Creation Section.
in My Computer Recovery Partition is Almost Full (3.26G of 25.5G is Free) . so i think Recovery files present there .
i haven't any Access to HP for Buy recovery disk or Call Support.

I don't know why your PC is saying your partition is gone - you're right, it doesn't look gone. I do know that if you use the Support Assistant to make backup copies of your Recovery Disks and Then instruct it to remove the recovery partition to give you more space on the hard drive, it will delete the HP factory image of Windows 8 from the recovery partition and leave the normal Windows repair tools behind.
There are tools however that allow you to create your own recovery partition complete with these Windows repair tools and a new image of your instalation so you can restore from that. You could use this tool: Windows 7/8 - OEM Recovery Partition Creator found here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/21978-Windows-7-8-OEM-Recovery-Partition-Creator but thats a lot of work and it would be faster and easier just to backup your data and restore from your HP recovery disks you made from Support Assistant. If you didn't make the disks, HP may opt to send you a copy.. they do not normally do this but I have read that some people have good luck getting a free copy of the media from HP.. otherwise they want you to buy the recovery disks ($40.00) . I suppose it depends on the exact circunstances of your situation.
Another solution is to use Macrium Reflect Free Edition to ghost or clone your system. You can then restore your whole system even with your custom programs installed, to the exact state it was in when you made the backup image. ( this may take several dvd's) I suggest you go this route because restoring your system with Macrium Reflect is Much faster than restoring from the HP Recovery Disks. Even if you do obtain another copy of the Recovery Disks, you should use this tool to make another backup that you can customize to your liking. Your re-installs will be faster, they will already have your chosen software installed, and you will save wear and tear on your HP Recovery Disks. You can then safely delete the recovery partition to gain back that space on your hard drive (since you cannot access it anyway, you won't need that space being taken up). BUT.. you cannot restore from UEFI Mode which is what HP ships with. You have to go into your Bios settings, and switch to Legacy Bios mode, (which disables Secure Boot) FIRST or else the Macruim recovery boot disk will not load to install the recovery image. After the system re-installs you can go back into bios settings and disable Legacy bios and re-enable secure Boot if you like. ( Windows 8 will load in both UEFI mode with secure boot enabled or Legacy bios mode.. it's your choice. UEFI mode will load faster but it will cause problems if you want to dual boot the system with another OS) Hope this helps.

Outdated Development Configurations for ESS

Hi,
When logging in to DTR, there is a prompt up: Outdated Development Configurations, as such,
info: The version 0000000013 of DC ESSTrac_dev[0](Version:0000000012) is now available. For Updating of Development COnfigurations, you have to remove and import them.
