Bad Billing Experience

Our daughter received two phones she thought was what she wanted. She discovered they did not have the features she was looking for so she decided to cancel the service and return the phones. She shipped them via Fed Ex and cancelled the service within the grace period allowed. There has apparently been some sort of mix up and Verizon claims they did not receive the phones and the service was not properly cancelled. She has made numerous phone calls to Verizon without success. Verizon has billed her for the phones and early termination fees. They have also turned the bill over to a collection agency. Our daughter is a single mother on a limited income and paying over $400 for a $31 phone bill is a little much for her to handle. Fearing damage to her credit she has paid the bill. Needless to say neither her nor her parents are very happy with the way this went. It seems it is very difficult to get things resolved at times. I am personally very disappointed with Verizon.

Bwittenborn, I am sorry to hear about the experiences your daughter had with our service. First, did your daughter order these phones on verizonwireless.com? If so, when the phones were shipped she should have received a return tracking label that includes a return receipt. It should also be notated on the account. We can track the phones this way, to see when they were returned to the warehouse. I'm guessing since this has gone to collections, several months have passed. Does she still have the tracking information?

  • Bad billing experience turning out for the better

    Hi,
By the very nature of this forum BT is not painted in a good light so I just thought I would make at least one positive post.
The contract for my package ran out in January 2013.  I looked around but, despite a few cheaper offers, decided to stay with BT largely due to the service provided by CL's, mods and others on this forum.  As the Broadband Champion for my village I am aware of the customer service and forums offered by a number of providers and, believe me, the majority are far worse than BT.  Only the ISP beginning with "Z" seems to come away with flying colours on service but then look at thier prices.
I rang the options team and a greed a new package for the next 12 months at an increase of £0.70.  I kept a log of exactly who I spoke to and when.  Despite making a request for letter or email confirmation none arrived.  My first bill came through with precisely the correct charges so, very foolishly, I threw the log away.  The next bill, March's, arrived with no special package refund.  After two emails and one phone call billing accepted there was an error and issued a refund.
To my "horror" the April bill arrived with the refund added as an under payment and not special packge refund.
Two emails and a phone call would not shift billing to accept that a new package was agreed in January, despite the evidence that February's bill confirmed it.  Having disposed of my call log I have no corroborating evidence to back this up.
Now to the better news.  They offered me an alternative 18 month package that works out £2.34 per month cheaper.
    Edited at 12:35 ish
Now the even better news.  As a result of my querying a small part of the deal it was amended such that the final saving is £4.19 per month.
So, in summary, yes BT does get it wrong sometimes but sometimes they also put it right, with fingers crossed for my next bill - I HOPE
    Best regards,
    dfenceman

    Hi dfenceman,
Thanks for your comments, they're great to see.
I am sorry for the problems you've had with your package though, if you need any help with this get in touch.

  • Why my iPhone 5 had bad ear experience while on phone, like a pressure on plane. Please help.

Why my iPhone 5 had bad ear experience while on phone, like a pressure on plane. Please help.

The sudden silence in one ear caused by the iPhone 5's noise cancellation in a noisy environment may remind you of a plane trip with a blocked Eustachian tube but it's not doing anything to your ear.  Ir's just that hearing background noise in only one ear makes you think there is something wrong.  It should make it easier to hear the phone.
If you don't like the effect, try holding a finger over the rear microphone (between the camera and flash).

  • How to get App Store past bad billing info

So I have not been able to update my app's because the App Store thinks I made some bad purchase or something.  Well I do t currently have a debit card so how do I get my phone to understand it just needs to give up on wanting billing info for the moment?  Or is this just one of those things that Apple does not budge on?

  • Domain Password Changes - Bad User Experience

I just want to say this is ridiculous and annoying. i use my iPhone at work and every time my domain password expires and i need to change it it causes all sorts of issues with my iPhone. It asks me to update the password so i do then it asks me again and again. I sat through it all just to see how many times it would ask, 7 Times. in the past i had to wipe my mail settings (MS Exchange) and WiFi settings and renter them (or it seems enter my details 7 times).
This to me is a really bad experience. I should only need to enter these details in once, it should be smart enough to realize that i use the same domain credentials for multiple features (WiFi, proxy, mail) and update them.
Who thinks we should only need to update these details once?

I wouldn't call that ridiculous. Just good practice. I could understand needing to enter it up to 2 times, but 7 whats the go there? I say 2 because there are 2 different sections that use it. First the WiFi/Proxy, and second the Exchange server Mail Account.
so i'd be happy if it asked me one for the wifi/proxy when i tried to access it and another time for the mail when i try to access it. but when i try to access something like the app store thats when it just constantly asks me.
Can you explain why i must be prompted 7 times? whats the problem with using the same domain credentials for your mail and wifi? in most cases they will be the same.

  • Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro: Recovery Media - Bad service experience!

How can I obtain the recovery media for the Yoga 2 Pro?
I accidently formatted the entire ssd including recovery partitions. I have contacted https://www.lenovorecovery.com/Extranet/Home.aspx 2,5 weeks ago but they only replied once that the recovery media is not available on usb stick. They state that delivery is within 2-3 days so I'm confused why they do not reply (also to my second and third email). The Support phone does not want to help me but only refers to lenovorecovery.com which is of no help.
Very bad Lenovo service experience up to now....

Take a picture of the disks and upload it here. Worst comes to worst, ditch those disk and install a retail version of Windows 7 (unactivated---so it won't be illegal to use). Use a bios windows key snooper > Take your OEM key to Microsoft website and legally download a copy of Windows 8 for free.
....also, does the OKR system not work? I am aware that you reformated your main drive... but, did you change the tables or partition sizes?

  • Bad user experience/errors with Adobe Air widget installation

    I'm having a nervous breakdown at work (it's 10pm and I'm
still in the office), an Adobe Air widget application I've built is
somehow causing the client to panic (they can't install or run the
Adobe Air installation or the widget and now they feel all their
users are having the same problem). If anyone has a minute to try
this out and let me know if the widget installs correctly of if you
have any recommendations on a better user experience I'll greatly
appreciate it. The client is receiving an error message when
installing Adobe Air (error 0 or something).
widget is on the bottom left (installs for PC and Mac). If
the widget installs without any glitches please let me know. God
    bless.
    http://stayonhermind.com

The application installed just fine for me. I'm running
Windows XP SP2 and I already have AIR 1.1 runtime installed.
I do have a few suggestions for improvement though! Just take
or leave any or all of these! :)
    In your popup you say,
"Before installing the 9IX Rules Widget verify that
you’re running the latest version of Adobe Flash."
Is this really a necessary requirement? If you are
downloading the .air I think it would not matter whether or not you
    have Flash installed.
    Then you say,
"After installing Adobe Air (link below), return to this page
and re-install the 9IX Rules Widget. Install Adobe Air Now .
Otherwise click on the button below (the widget install button)."
I understand you are trying to make this easy for people but
    to me this seems confusing.
    <GENERAL AIR COMMENT>
If someone does not have AIR runtime already installed I
thought running a .air would trigger the download and install. If
not this gets pretty complicated. How do you test if they have AIR
or not? And since most will not at this early stage how dow we
educate end-users to even know if they have it or not?
    </GENERAL AIR COMMENT>
You should digitally sign your AIR app so it does not say
Publisher: UNKNOWN with the big red "?" icon!
I would recommend against using all caps in your messages.
I would recommend choosing a better font (maybe a pixel font)
since the message text is a bit blurry.

  • Bad Apple experience

My 5 month old iPhone quite working. I sent it in for repair. got email back informing me that my iPhone had "accidental damage" or was "misused" and they were not repairing it. they will return in in the broken state.
I did not drop it or "misuse it".
How unfair of them not to stand by their product.
We have been loyal Apple customers for years and have bought 7 apple computers during the past 4 years and were getting ready to buy an MacBook Air.
Their email is one you can not respond to. I am now left with $400 phone that does not work.
They have now lost a customer and will get a lot of bad press from me!!

I suppose everything has two sides...
If they determine that the iPhone got wet (there is a sensor inside that changes colors if it gets wet), or it has been jailbroken or SIM unlocked, they are not obligated to fix it. Similarly, if they find it has been opened in any way, it's out of warranty.
If it has a serial number that indicates it wasn't purchased at an Apple store or ATT shop, they are not obligated to honor any warranty.
Granted, I am not saying you did ANY of those things and might have just been plain old damage, so sorry to hear about the situation.
Apple isn't out to specifically "get" anyone, though, and they certainly know their business well enough to determine the source of the problems. They probably get thousands of iPhones a day to repair and very very few are not covered.
As to bad press, not sure anyone will really listen to your plight. Good luck.

  • My bad Apple experiences...

Presently, I have just over a year old iPod and today they tell me "its dead."
Basically the last few weeks it hasn't worked and I would get lucky if I could get a song to play for a 5 seconds. So I decided to take it in and the weird (punk dressed) guy that waited on me appeared to have less of a clue than me. He just suggested restoring it and I have tried that but whenever I plug it into my PC, it freezes up til I take it out.
So he said he would go do it for me real fast; comes out of the back room a half-hour later with no notices at all and says that should do it; go home it and itll work. I still got the error while there but he said when I plug it in at home itll go away.
Nothing new and it still doesn't work. I get a folder with a question mark that says "www.apple.com/ipod/support"
i took it in today and the same guy tried to "help" me and said he would do it again. then he got scared so he went and had a manager or something come out and tell me that I can either 1) recycle and buy a new one or 2) try an online repair but he thinks the hd may be dead...
These guys seem like idiots with no clue.
first, does anybody have any suggestions?
second, what do you suggest I do now? anybody interested in buying it? only a year and 2 months old...i tried to get warrenty on the day it said it expired bc i put that day on my calendar to do but then they screwed me and said then that you must do it b4 the day of.....frustrated i am...

The Sad iPods icon or folder with an exclamation mark are the toughest problems to deal with, and must do a Restore in order to fix it. However, when your iPod is showing this icon, it is probably too late for your computer to recognize the iPod.
    1. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    2. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
    Still can't see your iPod?
Several things could keep iPod from appearing in iTunes or in the Desktop/Finder when you connect it to your PC/Mac. The most likely causes are listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the list to see if that is what's keeping iPod from appearing.
    3. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
    4. Try another known-good FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
    5. Try another known-good FireWire or USB port on your computer .
    6. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
    7. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. We've found that in many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    8. Try to do an Erase (Disk Utility) on a Mac computer or a format with a PC (Disk Management tool) but ensure you choose the right Drive (your iPod not your Hard Disk of your computer). You may need to plug and unplug your iPod with the computer for several attempts, and switching around Format and Restore, and hope out of sudden, it will get recognized.
    9. Diagnostic mode solution – which I copied from a thread of a post from thinktwice
“Then I cam across this special Diganostics Mode that you can get to by resetting and then while the Apple is showing pressing the Select and backwards keys simultaneously. It bring up and weird Diagnostic utility witha a abunch of tests. Here is what I did
    - I tried the 5in1 test and got and error on Firewire.
    - I did the HDD R/W and surprisingly it passed.
    - I went on to the HDD scan. This supposedly tkaes acouple of minute so I waited. I think 4-5 dots appeared then nothing. The iPod started to get hot. THe disk was spinning away. After a while the battery got very low. THis test chews up the battery. So I escaped out by resetting and went to connect it to a power source.
My USB was dangling out of my computer and I was too lazy to get the Firewire AC adapter thing going so I connected expecting the whole lockup thing with iTunes. Surprise. IT was recognized immediately and has been working like a champ. So go figure.
Details on Diag mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/index.shtml
10.Let me ask you a question, if an iPod with no iPod software with it. When your connect it with a computer, what would happen?
Yeah, the computer will treat it as a fresh external hard disk, which will get force mounted, the computer will ask you to format the iPod. It does not really matter the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted iPod software on the iPod, after that the computer will recognize it.
Once it has been completed, eject your iPod, open the iPod updater and interestingly, you will able to do the Restore this time.
Base on the above, that's why I suggest Windows users who experience trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac machine or vice versa. PC computer will not recognize a Mac formatted iPod, but it will get mounted in an attempt to format your iPod.
But, if none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired. You can arrange for service at the iPod Service Website.

I understand that your HP Envy 15 K239TX Touchsmart Notebook is running slow.  So I understand fully I just have a couple of questions for you.  1. Is it your Notebook itself that is slow, or is it when you are browsing online?2. Have you updated any of the drivers? In the meantime, I have a document for you called Resolving Slow System Performance (Windows 8).  Please follow these provided troubleshooting steps in the document and re-post with the information to the questions above. Thank you! Have a great day!

  • Bad battery experience today

The "luster" of my sexy new phone is starting to wear off. I was using a Blackjack, and the first complaint I have is that with the blackjack it was easy for me to sms just using my thumb, but the biggest problem today was this:
Left Twain Harte California at 6:30 AM this morning with a fully charged iPhone, as did my wife in her car. We drove all the way up I-5 to Seattle, a 14 hour day, perhaps sending as many as 20 SMS's and 3 phone calls lasting about 2 mins each.
At around hour 10, my iPhone reported 20% remaining. HUH? You didn't do anything today, how can you be out of juice?
Anyone explain what may have drained it just sitting there? My wife's was exactly the same btw.

I do not -- I even charged it for well over 24 hours
and get no stats there. Just two dashes.
Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
Try doing a phone reset holding down the sleep and home buttons for 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Then recharge your phone until you see a plug icon in the battery on the top right of the screen (not a lightining bolt). This is your indication you have a full charge. You should then see something OTHER than two dashes on that Usage screen.
If that doesnt work, do a restore on iTunes. This will wipe your phone clean and start from scratch. Recharge your phone, and THIS time you should not get the dashes.
If you STILL get the dashes - time to call Apple tech support. Dashes on the usage screen are not a good thing. But I've read most folks resolve it with a reset or a restore, and once they fully charge their iPhones, they are good to go. No need to consider an exchange - yet.

  • Time to run ASD? What to do about bad experience?

What is the time necessary to run a full ASD? In my work authorization it says:
    "5 to 7 day.
    Proposed Resolution: Run full ASD
Call customer to if form hi on what issue is and what needs to be replaced. Call back with in 48 hrs"
I dropped my mid-2010 15" MBP off at an Apple store on Monday, informing them of my problem, which was that the screen would sometimes black out while I was watching a video, and that sometimes the computer would restart randomly. I did a little research before hand and was belittled and told not to believe everything online. However, I believe the problem is well documented:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3114550?start=600&tstart=0
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4782683?tstart=0
The tech wrote in the work authorization "5 to 7 day." However, in the store he told me that it would take TWO days to run the ASD, and then if repairs were necessary the balance of the 5 to 7 days would be comprised of the repairs. In the work authorization, it said they would call me (and he also told me in the store) within 48 hours to tell me if repairs were needed. It has now been 72+ hours since I dropped it off, and I'm wondering what is happening.
It repeats elsewhere in the authorization: "Estimated Turn Around Time: We'll call you within 48 hours."
This has easily been my WORST Apple experience ever--from the belittling, to the tech not asking me if I would prefer a temporary password and instead just asking me to type in my actual password, to the lack of responsiveness about my computer.
I'm a student and need my computer to do work. From what I can tell, it does not take this long to run an ASD, and yet no one has called me back.
I'm still under AppleCare, and the TS4088 recall (if applicable to my machine, which I believe it is as it PERFECTLY describes my problem) is still in effect. Beyond the bad customer experience, I just want to know what I can/should do now. If anyone has been in a similar situation, please let me know!
I'm tempted to buy a Windows laptop in the mean time so I can do work--advice?

I called them about an hour ago. The man asked for my repair number, then said, "look, it says 5-7 days. Call back then."
I said that it stated I would get a call back within 48 hours, and he said that they're working on it.
My main dissatisfaction is with them saying that they would call, and didn't. Based on past experiences with the same store, they have always worked with me and told me exactly what they were doing through email or phone updates, and this time there was none of that.
I suppose maybe I'm being unreasonable, and that I'm being overly presumptuous that TS4088 is what is wrong with my computer. I wish I had been taken more seriously at the onset, and/or that I had specifically requested the tech do a VST which was recommended in one of the threads I read later. Either way, the attitude and responsiveness of this store that I frequent has gone down the drain in the past 9 months.

  • How to pay my final bill after switching carriers???

I switched to a different carrier at the end of June. I was on auto pay and as usual I received an email from Verizon Wireless regarding my final bill. The email said that the automatic payment would be made on August 7th. However, it is now the 15th and the payment has not been deducted from my checking account. So, I am wondering if there is something different that I have to do to pay this since I am no longer a customer? If so, why does Verizon Wireless not inform you of this?
I understand that Verizon probably makes this difficult to punish people for switching carriers, but you lose customers who might consider coming back in the future by giving them a bad final experience. It would seem to me that a customer's online My Verizon account should be kept active until their final payment is made or alternately, Verizon Wireless should send a paper final bill. I have a stellar credit rating and the last thing I want is for this to go into collections for a lousy 70 cents... especially since I WANT to pay it.. HELP!

A paper copy should have already been sent to the address of record on your account.
