Bad major version number! Help please ;-)

I have been writing applets using the Forte 3.0 sdk.
I don't as yet use Swing, but rather the standard AWT elements.
These applets work fine in IE 5, but when I try to view them in Netscape Communicator 4.79, the applet fails to appear and I see the following error message "Applet Editor Error:java.lang.ClassFormatError: Bad major version number"
I have searched the net and this is some advice I found: "The javac by default compiles for 1.2 compatible vm's. To compile an application to be compatible for both 1.1 and 1.2 vm's use:
javac -target 1.1 foo.java"
I'm guessing Netscape isn't 1.2 compatble, despite that the java plugins for 1.4.0 are enabled ( I have checked.).
So my question is:
How do I force 1.1 compatability in the Forte IDE?
I have looked through all the options and cannot find any switches for compatability.
I'm not using command-line so I can't directly add -target 1.1

In Forte go to menu Project->Settings. Open Compiler Types->External Compilation, there you have a property called "External Compiler", click on the value and there you can edit the arguments that are sent to the compiler...

Hi friends,
I am using JWS2.0(trial version). I have uploaded class files into servlet (and respective packages), every thing was working fine. one fine day i started getting the 404 - file not found error(JWS not yet expired). I uninstalled the jws, j2sdk1.4.0, jre1.4.0 but with no result.
I even formated the system and loaded all again. But still i am getting the same problem.
The servlet is the simple HelloWorld servlet.
Through the SunExample its working fine. But the uploaded servlet is not getting recognised.

Try re-compiling the Servlet. Make sure that the JDK version used to recompile is <= the version used to run the server (if you are using a higher jdk to compile the servlet, maybe Java 5.x, then you are to run, maybe Java 1.4.x, then use the -target option of javac to target the lower release...)

Bad major version number error

I'm trying to run the HelloWorld program in Linux. I can compile ("javac HelloWorld.java"), but when I try to run the program, using "java HelloWorld", i got the following error message:
Error loading class HelloWorld: Bad major version number
Any idea of what's wrong?

well, i found the problem. i had installed an old java version and forgot to delete it. i was using jdk 1.1 and i didn't notice it. just deleted the old version and everything went fine. thanks, m_srini ! :-)

I'm getting the same warning as well. I recently upgraded from Red Hat 7.1 -> 7.2 and have j2sdk1.4.0.
I get the following warnings when I actually run programs:
Warning! Major version number mismatch.
Warning! Minor version number mismatch.
Did you ever find any resolution? I'll keep looking & if I find something, I'll post it here.

Live Office Version number help

Which LO version iis the latest with all fix packs? My LO version is 12.1.0.882 and does that indicate whether all latest fix packs
are installed as of now?
(I am taking over the project and does not know which is the latest version number).

This version is XI 3.1. As of date, XI 3.1 SP2 is also available. However, please note that your client software and server software should be at the same patch level. In other words, you should not upgrade live office client to XI 3.1 SP2 if your Business Objects Enterprise is XI 3.1.

Are you saying that the tick-box shown in my screenshot, isn't there? (Yes, this is iTunes 11 - I've turned on the sidebar and the Menu bar. So you can see, this is a CD in my drive that we're looking at.)
If it isn't, go to Edit/Preferences/General and turn on the tick-box box
You can show the Menu Bar (with Edit on it) by using CTRL + B

Serial Number help, please!

While attempting to download my new Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, I keep getting the message that my serial number is invalid. I have entered and re-entered the correct number many times (the number on the back of the disc box) but still keep getting the error message. Please help - any advice will be appreciated!

One year plan,didnt charge my card,back to trial version,need help please?!?

im a student of graphic design. i bought creative cloud during the christmas sale for 15.99$. it charged for the first month but then i had to change cards because of a new bank account and it took 1$ out but never charged and now i have the trial version again. i have the money on my card and it still shows the 1$ as a pending transaction on my account but it has been almost two weeks and my trial ran out. i need creative cloud for college,please some help me?

Trial ABAP Version any help please?

I am interested in setting up the trial version ABAP.
I have downloaded the files and extracted them, but after extracting part I into a folder, the size of the folder is 2.78GB -- I extracted part II into the same folder, and the file size is now.. well the same, 2.78GB.
Both files pre-extraction match the size of the download page, exactly. This is a little strange?
I would like to know if by Windows XP professional- will this include Win XP home edition? or am I better to run on Windows Server?
I intend to run on Virtual Box, and would like to know if the 22GB for installation is inclusive of the 2.78GB installation files, do those files need to be copied to the intended installation drive?
I like the idea in the other thread about creating a partition separate from the OS and installing there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it is enough extract like this: Place the files to the same folder and extract "SAPNW7.0ABAPTrialSP12.part1.rar" only. The first and second file are required to install the complete trial software package.
I have heard here in SDN installation on XP is no problem. I use by myself even older OS; Windows 2000 Professional. My installation is on separate partition. It is working.

Hello!Need an advise.Can't find answers to several questions.
If I get a Skype number:
1. Can I receive text messages if sent to Skype number?
2. How many seconds it takes to connect calls (very important to know)
3. Can the number be put on hold if not required and be saved for me to use in future?

1. No incoming SMS is not supported.2. For me it's been 1-3 seconds and that is with most of my calls being forwarded through another service as well (2 forwards). It's been like that for the over 8 years I've used the number. Other people have mentioned longer durations to the point when people hangup (like 6 seconds or so). Some claim nothing resolves that problem, others claim it's solved by having a computer connected 24x7 to a stable connection vs. going through a mobile device. Skype provide no ringing adjustment other than time delays (1, 2 seconds, etc.) which would increase the duration. My configuration is on 24x7 and some of my computers on the wired/wireless network respond faster than others on the same Internet connection.3. The number is essentially leased for a duration (3, 6, 12 months) and is enabled for that long. So the usage can't be placed on hold. Choosing a shorter duration and canceling it when not needed would be best. After expiration the number itself would still be attached to you account and reserved for 90 days. So that is one method of hold. Beyond 90 days it's made available to others.

Just replaced my Superdirve, now I have a major problem! Help please!

I was having lots of trouble with my factory fitted Matshita drive, it would only burn DVD's at 2x regardlesss of what the disc said. After a lot of research I finally purchased a Pioneer K05 the other day and fitted it last night along with some extra memory. I started the computer up biting my fingernails and all was well. I went to system profiler and it was recognised in there along with the "supported/shipped" statement which gave me confidence. My problems started when I put my first DVD film in. There is a terrible scraping noise coming from within the drive?? It does read the disc correctly, the only way I can describe it is that it sounds like 2 things-
1. It either has a loose part inside or
2. It has some sort of vibration problem because of my fitting.
To be totally honest now I did not have the correct Torx screwdriver for the job so I removed and replaced them with a small pair of electrical pliers so I'm guessing they will not be in as tight as before, could this be the problem? I know it could just be a faulty drive but before I send it back I would liked to have covered all my options. I am off in to town now to get the correct Torx set so upon my return any help comments can be met with a person who actually has the correct tools! lol

Well I've bought the right torx set and its still the same. I have now replaced the Matshita and that sounds perfect. I have contacted the supplier of the Pioneer and they are going to give me a replacement. It MUST have been the drive, I replaced the Matshita back exactly the same and it is fine??

T60 -- Bad Wireless connection. Help please!

Hi Guys, my T60 has unstable wireless connection problem. I make sure the radio is "ON". It gets connected to the DSL network but it gets disconnected on and off ( the radio turns off by itself sometimes). Something wrong with my Intel PRO Wireless driver 3945abg? Can anyone guide me how to fix the problem??

I'm having the exact same problem - installed the OS (Windows XP Pro) adding SP3 and updating all drivers.
Then I connect to the wireless whitout any problems. I go to sleep, and next day wireless don't work!
The Machine is a T60 2008-WGV. I have made a image of the clean disk with Clonezilla, and therefore I can restore the OS quickly to a working wireless, but I find it quite anoing to have a clean OS every morning, in order to use network.
