Basic menu and displaying

Question

Need help with what should be a basic problem (And hopefully basic easy answer ^_^)
I first display a splash screen then after it's dismissed displays a list of items. Can't seem to get it to work at the moment.
the midlet class:
public void startApp() throws MIDletStateChangeException
Display screen = Display.getDisplay( this );
new SplashScreen(screen ,Menu);
// Menu.repaint();
Menu.viewMenu();
the menu class:
public class MainMenu extends Canvas implements CommandListener
public void startMenu()
menu = new List("Test Components", Choice.IMPLICIT);
menu.append("Test", null);
menu.append("Test", null);
menu.append("Test", null);
menu.append("Test", null);
menu.append("Test", null);
// menu.addCommand(exitCommand);
menu.setCommandListener(this);
menu.setTicker(ticker);
public void commandAction(Command command, Displayable display)
if (command == List.SELECT_COMMAND)
I know that's not going to work but I'm not sure how to get it to display on the screen short of putting the menu code into startApp which is not what i'm looking for as I'd have a lot of code filling that area up.
Not good programming practice.

See GSM 11.11 and 11.14 .. you can download these specs from etsi.org
