Hi Gurus,
I need to find out the batch history of finished goods batch.
I heard there is a standard function module used for this but unabe to get it.
How can we find the history of a given batch of a material?

Hi,
In SAP documentation available its clearly mentioned steps to be performed for batch history.

  • Good Issue batch Flows at GR for finish good Material

    Hi Gurus,
Please Help me on below scenarios
1)Good issue material batch and its characteristic automatically flows to Finish Good Material at the time of Good receipt of Process order.
    2) If Component of Finish Material ie Good issue material is having the different batches issued to the Finish material Process order then System should only consider those batch which is having the Characteristic values is having more that 50%
Exam : Good Issue material X and requirement qty 10
Then Component issue 10 qty with 2 batches  A and B
Batch A  Qty 5 : Char              Value          Batch B Qty 5       Char      Value
                               Density            10                                             Density     15
Tthen Finished Good batch consider only batch B which is having the maximum density.
Here we want the same batch B and it should automacticaly flows  to the Finish product at the time of GR ( Process order )
I tried with Batch derivation but we want the same Good issue batch to finished material
Please help me on this scanrios and if we are going for development then how it is possible technically ( with Functioan specification)

  • Material backflush in production order after finished goods GR

    Dear all,
I once started similiar topic several months ago, but didn't recieved any response. I'm gonna give it another try, so maybe you'll be able to support me after all.
So, the situation is like this. We have a production order, in which MC team maintained the materials to consume. The problem is, that very often it comes that we have to use same material part, but under 2-3 different partnumbers. E.G.:
Production order target: 1000 finished goods
    Required materials: Part A 1000 pcs, Part B1 700 pcs, Part B2 300 pcs, Part C 1000 pcs, Part D1 150 pcs, Part D2 450 pcs, Part D3 400 pcs.
So yes, in case when it is Part B1, B2 and etc. it means that we're using physically the same part, but under different partnumbers. The problem is, that those material are all coming in pieces, not in meters or anything, and we can't allow to have, for example, 0.7 pcs of any of those materials (cause obviously you can't have 0.7 pcs of LCD panels stored in the warehouse).
It wouldn't be a problem if we could just confirm all operations in production order in 1 batch, but production order is being confirmed partially, every time the pallet with finished goods is being released from production line (we have integrated system, that sends requests to SAP to confirm specific quantity of finished goods in production order). So, as an example, if 1 pallet contains 15 pcs of finished goods, you have 67 confirmations for production order [(66*15)+(1*10)]. And, since all those materials come in PCS, SAP is rounding up consumption if it has decimal, which leads to wrong materials consumption.
Initially, I had an idea of adding 1 more operation in production order, which was supposed to be a manual use only, after finished goods GR, and MC team supposed to assign those B1\B2 and etc. material to this operation  E.G.:
Operation 0010 - consume material from work center A
Operation 0020 - consume material from work center B
Operation 0030 - finished goods GR (milestone)
Operation 0040 - consume material from work center C
My idead was rejected, since I was told that after GR for finished goods is done and you continue consuming materials in production order - it will not be shown in financial reporting (don't know the details, it was quite a straight reject, without much explanation).
So, question is - is there a way to consume materials after finished goods GR without creating mess in financial reporting, or if not - what other options do I have?
    thank you in advance

    Hi Valentin,
After GR also you can do goods issue. Till the order status is CLSD (Closed) you can book cost on to the order.
Two ways to consume materials on order.
In order component overview maintain the required part number with quantity. GI as can done with reference to order MB1A 261 movement type.
Directly do GI with MB1A -261 movement type - Input the order number, material number and qty.
Refer to the below discussion on unplanned GI which was discussed yesterday,

  • Uploading Production Requirements For Finished Goods From External System To Run MRP For Components in SAP.

    Hello Production Planning experts,
I'm looking to solve the current business problem:
The company bought a third party software (JD Edwards) to calculate production requirements instead of using SAP's standard Production Planning or a tool like SAP's APO. They run a batch job to query Sales Orders, Deliveries, available stock, stock in transit, etc. from sap and feed/upload it to the third party software so it can calculate the Finished Goods Production Requirements for them. They love the third party software, so replacing it is not an option. Since the third party software is already taking into account Sales Orders, Deliveries, available stock, stock in transit, etc. from SAP, it just outputs a "Finished Goods Production Schedule" by week.
    My questions are:
    1) What's the best way to upload something like that in SAP in the form of Planned Orders or something of that nature?
After i get that schedule in SAP:
    2) Is there any way to calculate components' requirements for that "Finished Goods Production Schedule" alone? The company would like to IGNORE existing stock AND expected-goods-issues in the future (sales orders, deliveries, etc) for Finished Goods ONLY. The components calculations would work the standard MRP way, taking into account existing stock and AND expected-goods-issues in the future (sales orders, deliveries, etc)
I started looking into Master Production Schedule (MPS), but I don't know if that's the right approach since I'm not very familiar with it.
Thanks in Advance! I will gladly reward points for helpful/correct answers.

    Hello Oscar
I suggest you to upload your production plan in the for of "Planned Independent Requirements" using BAPI BAPI_REQUIREMENTS_CREATE. Later, MRP will create planned orders to cover the PIRs.
If you don't want to consider the existing stock of the finished product, you should use the planning strategy 11 to create your PIRs. Take a look on the following link for more details about this planning strategy:
Gross Requirements Planning (11) - Demand Management (PP-MP-DEM) - SAP Library
Here you will find the following information:
The make-to-stock strategy gross requirements planning is particularly useful in mass production environments; it is often combined with repetitive manufacturing. This strategy is particularly useful if you need to produce, regardless of whether you have stock or not. For instance, steel or cement producers might want to use this strategy because they cannot shut down production; a blast furnace or a cement factory must continue to produce, even if this means having to produce to stock.
This strategy is also frequently used if there is a Material Requirements Planning system in a legacy system that needs to be linked to an SAP system which serves as a production execution system. The legacy system calculates a specific production plan, which has to be executed, regardless of the stock situation in the SAP system
It looks like this planning strategy is exactly what you are looking for.

Usually, it depends on your business requirements.
Bare minimum fields will be MARA-MATNR, MARD-LGORT (storage location), MARC-WERKS (plant), MARA-NETPR (Price), qty, shel-life expiration date, batch number, vendor, etc.

  • Different Finished Goods in the Same Job

    Hi,
We would like to know if it is possible to complete different finished goods using a single job (based on a single bill). This is the scenario: we have to cut a raw material RM1 that has 1.5 inches and the result is two finished goods, FG1 with 0.5 inch and FG2 with 1.0 inch.
    Thanks in advance,
    Renato.

    Hi,
This can be addressed by OPM, where in the Formula you will be able to enter two co-products FG1 and FG2 in the Products Tab of Formulator Module and Ingredient as RM.
When you produce a Batch(equivalent to Job in Discrete Mfg), FG1 and FG2 will come out in required proportions as you mention in the Formula.
In Discrete there is no standard Prodedure for it. I might Suggest a work around. See whether it can suit you:
You create BOM of FG1 and enter Componnts as RM and FG2. Enter the Required Qty of FG2 in Negative. In this case FG2 will be treated as a Byproduct.

  • Report on Finished goods stock

    Hi friends ,
    I got a task to do .
    Description:
"Age Analysis of Finished Good Stock: - Interactive report. Double click on the line item will give the batch wise stock details."
Can any one give some more elaborate information regarding this.
And please give what are the tables and fields might necessary for this.
    With Best Regards,
    Priyanka Sai.

    Hi satya,
the report says that depending on the days difference of your material...the stock details shud be diplayed in the secondary list....
hence for priomary list using the table MARA for a material number calculate the ageing period..in the sense sysdate-created date(ersda)..gives the days analysis..
for this in the secondary report code such that stock details from MARD,MARC,MARDH is retreived...chck the reqquired fields..
matnr, ersda, and corresponding fields of stcok in the other tables...
hope this helps u a bit,

  • Mapping of Inspection of finished goods by third party vendor

    Hi Gurus,
    Greetings!!!
I have a senario to be mapped into SAP.
After finished goods inspection by our internal quality team, we are requesting the external vendor for inspecting the same finished goods before delivery to the customer. This is because based on the external vendor inspection certificate the customer approves the qulaity of the product.
Kindly help to map this senario into SAP.Currently we are doing finished good inspection by 04 inspection type.
    Thanks inn advance,
    Naveen.

    Hi,
Your requirement is: to create an additional inspection lot - for which there will be a third party inspection.
It is NOT stock relevant. It probably is: Certificate relevant.
That's the reason why: I suggested you to use Physical Sample (Inspn type 15).
By this inspection: you can ask the Third party to come and draw a sample. After that, you can assign the sample number to it. Hence, it becomes traceable to the Batch/lot/material/date and sample number.
Once sample is drawn and tested, the Third Party sends you the results.
Now, you can record the same results in SAP and print a Quality Certificate for the same.
So, it is NOT relevant whether you are using it in your organisation or not. It becomes a necessity because of your requirement. By using 89 inspection also, you can accomplish the same. However, drawing a physical sample and noting the details of it (who, when, where etc) can only be mapped in Physical sample drawing.
Hope it helps you. Regards, KrishnaM

  • External Btach Number for Finished Goods

    Hi All....
We have a  repetitive mfg scenario, where finished goods are managed with external batch numnber. Client has 20+ plants and each plant follows its own number ranges...
    In each plant,each product shud have continuous batch numbers, eg., Product A - Batch number : MA040801 & Product B : MA040801 & respective 2nd batch produced will have ; product A : MA040802 & product B: MA040802 & so on...
These batch numbers will be entered  in Backflush activity. ( ie., with GR or in Quality management after final GR to quality stock)
In SAP Batch Management for external Number assignment... what are the settings to be done for the above scenario..?
    looking forward to early reply,
    With regards,
    LN

To be able to enter external numbers for the no. range object BATCH_CLT the external number check box is to be selected. Tranx OMAD
If you want to automatically assign an external number as per your criteria you can use the following user exit:
Set Up Customer Exits for External Batch Number Assignment
As part of the external batch number assignment, the following two
function module exits are available in the SAP enhancement SAPLV1ZE for
checking a new batch number that has been entered.
o   EXIT_SAPLV01Z_003. Using this exit, you can replace the proposed
number range object BATCH_CLT and/or external interval 02 with a
number range object and/or external interval you have defined
             yourself.
You also have the option of suppressing the batch number check, for
example, based on the material or plant.
o   EXIT_SAPLV01Z_004. Using this exit, you can define your own checking
             rule.
         Further notes
In both exits, a communication structure with the application data for
each business transaction (for example, plant or material type ) is
available. To obtain more information such as the time, user name, or
the date, you must use one of the exits.
         Example
In the function module exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_003, an external number range
XY is determined, against which the batch numbers are checked.
In the function module exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_004, the batch number entered
is checked against your own rules.

  • Overhead key for Finished goods

    Hi all,
Guide on the following.....Depending upon the Costing Overhead Grp the Overhead will be applied , in our case Overhead % applied depending upon the Raw material consumption . So we have incorporated Over head key in all Semifinished material .
Now , in all assembly all HALB material have Over head Key , but whether we should have Overhead Key to Finished material also?
    Do revert
    Regards

    Hi,
It depends how you are arriving at the cost of Finished goods.  If all the consumption, activity and overheads are
taken into account upto the top most level of the component, there there is no necessity of assigning a seperate
overhead key.  If the company requires  packaging charges of the finished goods in batches, bar coding activities are to be added after the production, you can use an overhead key on FG.

  • Create Handling unit after receiving finished goods  from production

    Hello,
My client's requirement is that they do not want a TR or TO to get created at the time of Production order confirmation and neither they want to create the Handling unit at the time of confirmation.
They want to move the material from production to warehouse as one Handling unit after multiple confirmations. They want to create Handling unit manually after the receipt of materials.
What is the process of creating Handling unit after we have FG (multiple batches).
After creation of Handling units, my client wants to ship the same Handling unit out to customer.
    How to create Handling unit
    Regards
    Prabhjot Singh

    Hi,
If I understand right - customer wants a simple transfer of finished goods from production to warehouse, and latter pack into handling units.
    Possible scenario:
    1) Assign production order to non-WM and non-HU storage location. Post GR for production order using transaction MIGO (mvmt. type 101) for a whole quantity produced for production order.
    2) Setup packing table in IMG (Logistic General > Handling Units > General > Setup packing table> ...) --> packing table is a functionality for packing goods into HU - it takes goods from predefined source non-WM/non-HU location, packs them into HU and places them in target WM-HUM location.
    2) Maintain packaging instruction (trans. POP1 and POF1) to automate the packaging quantities.
    3) Run packaging table by HUPAST, select your table and pack.
    4) Packed HU ends up on WM-HUM location.
This process can be done either in SAP GUI (HUPAST) or you can build it in RF transaction and run it with mobile RF scanner (ABAP development required).
Hopefully this will be of any help.
    Regards, Primoz
