Behaviour of GL Accounts in Hierarchy Nodes

Hi experts,
We have a BI report on Financial statement version. We have a hierarchy used on GL Account.
In the hierarchy in a node, suppose in the node Assets some gl accounts are maintained.
And another node Liabilities some gl accounts are maintained.
But few gl accounts are maintained in both the nodes i.e assets and liabilities.
In the BI report output, the balance against  these gl accounts is coming under both nodes Assets and Liabilities.
But the requirement is if the balance against a GL account is Negative then it should be displayed only under Liabilities node and
if the balance against the gl account is postive then it should be displayed only under Assets node.
It should be displayed in either Asset node or in Liability node depending on the sign of the Balance.
We have only some GL accounts like this.
Please provide some inputs to solve this.
Regards,
smitha.

Hi All,
Thanks for the reply. I have loaded the data into the cube 0figl_c10. Installed the virtual cube 0figl_v10 and also the query
0FIGL_V10_Q0001( Bal.Sheet and Profit and Loss (New):Actual/Actual Comparison ) from BI content. Extracted the hierarchies
for the infoobject 0GLACCEXT.In this hierarchy for some gl account in the field BAL_DEPEND ( Balance Dependency of a
Hierarchy Node ) the value is maintained as "1" "Suppress Balance if Positive" for some gl accounts and "2" "Suppress Balance
if Negative" and blank "No Balance Dependency" for some gl accounts.
We have a gl account 60380 for this gl, in the bal dependency field the value is maintained as 1 in Assets and 2 in Liabilities(
coming from R/3).
This gl is maintained both in assets and liabilities. I executed the report.
In a business area in a period the value for this gl is both +ve and -ve. But actually assets should show only +ve values and
liabilities should show only negative values. But this gl account is appearing in the node "Assets" only and the balances have
both the values i.e +ve and -ve.
As per the setting in the field BAL_DEPEND i.e 1 in Assets, the postive values should be suppressed.
But it is not suppressing the postive values. It is showing both the values under only assets node.
I changed the bal depedencey value to 2 in the assets to see whether it suppresses -ve values but also it is not suppressing.
Any solution or explanation ?

smitha.

  • Master Data load does not extract Hierarchy nodes in BPC Dimension ACCOUNT

    Hi Experts,
I am performing master data load through standard DM package with Filter selection as:
    1. Chart of Accounts
    2. Hieararchy selection has 4 hierarchy names
    3. Selected Import Text nodes
    4. Selected Set Filters by Attribute OR Hierarchies
I have run this DM package for a set of data and selections a week ago and it worked fine.
However when i run it now, it is giving issues,
It extracts any new GL maintained in the BI system however it does not extract any hierarchy nodes at all! (Have tested this by deleting the hierarchy nodes and tried to run the master data load)
I am running the DM package in Update and have selection as External.
Any sugestions for checks / has anyone encountered this issue earlier?
    Regards,
    Shweta Salpe

    Hi Guyz,
    Thanks.
I found that the issue was with the transformation file where i was maintaining the RATETYPE.
When i removed the mapping of RATETYPE this works fine. (Pulls the nodes of hierarchies)
however now i do not have Ratetype populated in the system.
    my rate type mapping is:
    RATETYPE=*IF(ID(1:1)=*STR(C) then *STR(TOSKIP);ID(1:1)=*STR(H) then *STR(TOSKIP);ID)
and in conversion file i have TOSKIP     *skip
I have to skip the ratetypes for the hierarchy nodes and my hierarchy nodes start with C and H.
So now that i have removed the mapping for RATETYPE can anyone suggest me a correct way to achieve this? (Note the above mapping formula was skipping all of the hierarchy nodes starting with C and H)

  • BPC Excel: Select hierarchy nodes & exclude an account within

    Hello All
u2013 in EVDRE, is there a way to define a column selection for a account hierarchy node, however exclude one of the accounts within this group? THis is simmilar to BEX query, where you can select a hierarchy node and then also select to exclude a member within.
EG From the account hierarchy below, select the hierarchy node u2013 u2018group1u2019 , however exclude account 2.
    Account Hierarchy
         Hierarchy - group1
              Account1
              Account2
              Account3
              Account4
I have a couple of different column definitions, so this definition would need to be defined inside the column header area & not in the column member set.
    Thanks
    Glen

    Hello Nilanjan
Firstly, thanks for your reply, much appreciated. One of the requirements is to have multiple column definitions in my report. To achieve this, i was planning to define the definitions inside the columns and adjust the colkeyrange to include all column definitions. This would mean that i would not use the column expansion and hence not have access to the suppress function.
Is there a way of including the suppress function in a column definition?
EG Include hierarchy node 'Parent - Group1" and exclude 'Account2'
    Account Hierarchy
         Parent - Group1
              Account1
              Account2
              Account3

  • P&L Report-Account Group Hierarchy -Position of lower nodes above

I define P&L Statement hierarchy in ERP using  T Code: KDH2 (account group). The reason why  I don't use standard financial statement version is because it can't include cost object /cost element in the hierarchy.
Then I designed a query using Bex Query designer. In row item "account number", I tagged the accoung group as hierarchy and select "position of Lower-level Nodes": above
However, in crystal report, when I recall the database, it is displayed as "higher nodes above." e.g. cost of sales include lower nodes of Material cost and labor cost, it display in Crystal report as:
    Cost of Sales                                5000
                  Material Cost                        3000
                  Labor Cost                           2000
I want it to display as "lower nodes above":
                 Material Cost                        3000
                 Labor Cost                           2000
    Cost of Sales                                5000
I have tried in crystal report desinger- -change group option- sort in original order, in asending, in desending , it doesn't work as "lower node above". (i have to group the account ID)
I don't want to use "sort in specific order" in group option because if it is hard coded, it doesnt faciliate future changes if user changes account group hierarchy in SAP ERP KDH2 (account group).
To sum up, is there anyone can tell me how to show the hierarchy in Crystal Report as "lower node above"?
    Regards,
    Frances

I find the solution by myselr: just put the account code in crystal report group footer rather than the group header, it will show lower nodes above as
    Material cost 2000
    Labor cost 3000
    Cost of Sales 5000

  • Use of filters and aggregations based on hierarchy nodes in an update rule

    Hello,
I need to calculate some indicators from a ODS (BW 3.5) that contain raw data to another one that will contain indicators. These figures are the results of the use of filters and aggregations based on hierarchy nodes (for example: all sales accounts under a node).
In fact, this is typically a query but I want to store these figures, so I need
I understood I have to use a start routine. I never did that before.
Could you provide me with easy-to-understand-for-newbies examples of:
    - filtering data based on the value of an infoobject (value must be empty, for example)
    - filtering and aggregation of data based on the appartenance to hierarchy nodes (all sales figures, ....)
    - aggregation of the key figures based on different characteristics after filtering of these

  • Refreshing Hierarchy node variable in BEx query with change in hierarchy

    Hi all,
We have used a hierarchy node variable on Characteristic ZECCSAC (user-defined) and used it in a BEx query with default value set to a particular node value. Upto this, it is working fine.
The hierarchy used in the query, with the hierarchy node variable, was later changed ( and in future it can undergo changes ). Since the number of records in the hierarchy are changing, the nodenames of the hierarchy nodes are changing. But the hier node variable default value is still set to the earlier nodename for that node description. So at runtime it is giving an error "ECCS Account Number is invalid"!
Can anyone suggest how to refresh a hierarchy node variable default value each time a query is run so that the latest nodename is always taken ?
    Quick reply will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • 0GLACCEXT hierarchy nodes description ( text ) not displaying

    Hi Gurus,
I have uploaded 0GLACCEXT hierarchy from ECC system in to BI 7.0. I can only see the hierarchy nodes in the RSH1 and in the reports as well for 0GLACCEXT.But I am not able to see the hierarchy nodes description like under Expenses > salaries , wages , housing etc .....only its GL accounts is displaying like 700100 , 700200
I also uploaded Text datasource ( 0GL_ACCOUNT_TEXT ) for 0GLACCEXT , the text is loading without any problem but the changes are not being reflected in the RSH1 and the reports.
    Regards,
    -Neha

    Hi KP,
Thanks for your reply , the text for 0GL_ACCOUNT is displaying fine , I don't have any issues with 0GL_ACCOUNT , my main concern is I'm using Financial Statement item 0GLACCEXT   for Balance Sheet and P&L Statement (for period accounting) by using Virtual Cube 0FIGL_VC1  the Text is not displaying in the reports as well as in RSH1 , where as for 0GL_ACCOUNT the hierarchies and text are working and displaying fine.
I'm closing this thread , the problem has been solved
it was related to mappings in Transfer rules.

  • Calculation in hierarchy nodes

    BW Experts,
We have a situation where an account can appear in an account hierarchy twice (i.e. an account is assigned to 2 nodes in the hierarchy).  When we run the BEx report, the subtotals for the 2 nodes which contain the account are calculated correctly, but the parent node of the 2 subtotal nodes only includes the value of the account once, and not twice.  For example,  assume that we have 2 accounts with the following amounts:
    Account  Amount
    A10         100
    A20         200
and a hierarchy structure with 2 subtotal nodes, one containing A10 and one containing A10 and A20.  So the hierarchy looks like this:
    Total
       Subtotal 1
          A10
       Subtotal 2
          A10
          A20
In BEx, the report displays the following result:
    Total                      300
       Subtotal 1           100
          A10                 100
       Subtotal 2           300
          A10                 100
          A20                 200
So BEx is not adding the A10 amount in to the Total node twice, which would give an answer of 400 instead of 300.
I did read in the BW Documentation that in cases like this, BEx recognizes that there is a duplicate entry in the hierarchy and so removes it from the totalling.  But in our case we do not want the amount to be removed, we want it to be counted twice.
I have tried to use the link node function, but it returns the same result.
Does anyone know how to include a leaf in multiple nodes in a hierarchy and have BEx include the key figure amount in the all higher level nodes, even if it means doubling, tripling, etc. of the key figure amount?
Thanks very much for any help.

    Hi Alberto,
Would you please post the resolution of the issue with the hierarchy node calculation? I too have a simillar requirement. It would be helpful if you share the solution for tha issue that you had.

  • Calculating Hierarchy Nodes At Reporting

When using a hierarchy for reporting, is there a way to create a node that is the result of a calculation of values in other nodes?  The hierarchy is built from the 0ACCOUNT characteristic.  There are accounts that are grouped into lots of nodes to support P&L reporting.  For example, there is a node called Gross Sales, Net Sales, Std direct cost etc.  I want to be able to create/show a 'node' called 'Margin %' that would be the result of a calculation based on other node values (ex. Margin / Net Sales * 1000.)  This needs to be a BEx query.
    Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks SM for the update.  Could you provide some details on #2 (Use the particular hierarchy node. Hide it.)  Is this done in query designer or at query run time?  It appears that #3 is done in the designer however, I do not understand how the keyfigure is then displayed at the node level.  Thanks

  • Reassignment of hierarchy nodes dynamically

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirement wherein I need to re-assign the hierarchy node for an account based on Functional area.
Currently, we load 0ACCOUNT info object with hierarchy defined in KDH3 transaction in R/3. Here, the account 650000000 is defined under local accounts node of the hierarchy. Hence, when we use the 0account infobject in BEx with hierarchy activated, all the records in transaction data with account no. 650000000 are aggregated under local accounts node.
However, the user wants us to check the functional area for each of the record with 65000000 account and re-assign it to a different node of the hierarchy. For example, if the transaction data has account number 65000000 and functional area 400, then the record needs to be aggregated under a different node in hierarchy, say overhead costs. Similarly, if there is another record with account 650000000 and functional area 300, then the record needs to be aggregated under Sales & marketing.
How do we handle such conditional assignment of hierarchy nodes?
    Regards,
    SS

    Hi,
I really doubt if dynamic reassignment of hierarchy nodes is possible in BW, but could be wrong.
    Alternatives which you can consider
    a. A flat hierarchy modeled in the dimension of the cube i.e. higher levels of 0ACCOUNT can be filled during transformations based on functional area. Major disadvantage here is that any change to the hierarchy or assignment could require reloads depending on your requirement i.e. touch history data or not
b.Customized Hierarchy created by combining the original hierarchy and the assignment details
    for eg
Leaf Node: 650000000_400 under parent Overhead Costs
Leaf Node: 650000000_300,under parent Sales & Marketing

  • How to filter hierarchy node in BEX query designer

    Dear experts
We are working on FI balance sheet with hierarchy infoobject 0GLACCEXT. Example of our balance sheet is as follow:
    Parent Node A = 20
         Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
             Leaf A11 = 5
                 Leaf A12 = 5
    Parent Node B = 20
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 10
                   Leaf B11 = 5
                   Leaf B12 = 5
    We require only:
        Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
        Leaf B12 = 5
So I filter those out in BEX restriction;  however, after we examine the report in tcode RSRT, "Sub-parent Node A1" is not shown in BEX Report, and the result is as follow:
    Parent Node B = 5
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 5
                 Leaf B12 = 5
Are there solutions for us to show merely A1 and B12 ?

    Hi Chu
    Try the following steps.
    Initial Output
In this example I will restrict the query for only displaying Node 8603 and leaf 9000
Proceed to restrict the Characteristic. Please be aware of the difference between hierarchy nodes and leaf characteristic values. Also set the Hierarchy display properties to expand up to level 1.
    Execute the query again:
Please be aware that users will still be able to expand node 8603 and see the lower level nodes/leaf. In order to restrict users from doing this set up users authorizations.
    Regards,
    Carlos
