Best Buy and the Aorus x7

Does BestBuy plan on carrying this awesome looking laptop? I'm in the market for something similar, and really would love to use my BB card and earn some sweet rewards on it!
Here's a link just in case:

holy smokes is that a SLI laptop o.0
I'd hate to see the heat that thing gives off! I would love to see more hi-tech gaming machines introduced to BestBuy. Even though I do have to question why the hard drive is so little for a gaming machine.
I am not affiliated with Best Buy nor have I ever been employed by Best Buy. All of my thoughts and posts are of my own opinion and personal experience.
I may not always know the right answer, but I will always tell you what I do know. I also do free computer analysis and consultation via private message.

  • I set up an iTunes acct and downloaded an iTunes card yesterday on an iPod touch and it said it was successful but I had trouble and best buy said the iPod didn't sync. Can I now set it up on my iPad?

I tried to set up my daughters iPod touch yesterday on my mother's computer. I used an iTunes card and set up an iTunes account and it said it was approved however none of the app boxes ever showed up on the iPod. The only thing that shows up is a cord and an iTunes logo. I went to best buy and the technician told me the iPod didn't sync with the computer when the iTunes were downloading. Today I learned whatever computer you set you iTunes account up on and sync your iPod to is the only one you can continue to download onto your iPod. Since I wasn't successful in syncing the iPod the first time can I now set the iPod up to my iPad and if so did I waste the iTunes card that said was successfully downloaded on my mother's computer yesterday?

Okay, but this is nothing new.  Purchased content has ALWAYS been permanently tied to the AppleID account used to buy it.  It has never been transferable between accounts, or playable on computers not authorized for that account.
It has nothing to do with how you sync or save your OWN music.  You cannot authorize your computer for music bought with an AppleID that you do not control.

  • HT201269 Best Buy started the setup assistant on my new iPhone 5 and now I can't make it sync with iTunes.  How can I reset and start over?

I bought an iPhone 5 at Best Buy, and they started the setup assistant process.  Now I can't go back and start over so I can sync my phone to my iTunes account.  I have an old iPhone 3GS and didn't use the iCloud.  I backed up to my computer.  And now I can't reset my iPhone 5 to sync to my iTunes.
    Help.

I purchased a iPhone 5, and after completing a backup of my old iPhone 3GS, I in error selected Set Up as a New iPhone in the Setup Assistant.
I connected to iTunes and did a Restore iPhone, which set the iPhone5 back to factory defaults, and I was able to restart the Setup Assistant, and following the apple support instructions, restored from my 3GS backup and synced with my iTunes account.  The Restore kept my phone number intact.
I was worried that I would lose the setup of my phone number that was done in the store, but everything worked perfectly.

I have an iBook G4.  My epson stylus printer is not fixable so I went to Best buy and bought an XP 400 (Epson).  When I went to set it up it wouldn't talk to my computer.  So it looks great but won't print   After 2 days and many phone calls I am disgruntled to say the least.  Any  suggestions?

I would imagine the drivers supplied with the printer will not be compatible with your existing operating system.
Download the older drivers for your OS here, and then try the install again.

  • The answer why Best Buy and other places are having problems...

Blame LG Display.  Looks like the Retina Display is having problems in production.
    http://news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-20008149-64.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=iPhoneAtlas
"The shortage of iPhone 4s as launch day approaches is due to limited supplies of the new Retina display, according to an industry analyst's report. CNET quotes Ashok Kumar, managing director and senior technology analyst at Rodman & Renshaw, as saying that a "production bottleneck" in the IPS LCD screen may continue to late summer. Meanwhile, customers continue to report emails from AT&T telling them that their iPhone 4 pre-orders have been canceled.
In the snowballing EPIC FAIL that is the iPhone 4 rollout, there has been a lot of blame to go around. Server issues were responsible for delay and confusion when the new iPhone first went on sale last Tuesday, and AT&T stopped taking orders early Wednesday due to overwhelming demand. As the rush continued, black iPhones were no longer available for launch day, with ship dates pushed back first to July 2nd and then to July 14th. White iPhones are reported to be delayed to later this summer or even to 2011. It's unclear how long third party retailers will have to wait for supplies, as neither RadioShack nor Best Buy is saying when they will have iPhone 4s in stock. An AT&T rep told a MMi user that Best Buy will not have any iPhones by launch day.
Kumar wrote in a letter to his clients that his "supply chain checks indicate that our earlier monthly shipment estimate of 4 million units have been reset by about half," blaming difficulty with the LCD manufacturing at LG Display, which makes the Retina display for Apple. By late summer, according to Kumar, LG will have upgraded their plants to new fifth-generation technology that will allow them to cut more screens from larger panels.
Apple will probably do fine if they can get supplies up in a few weeks: many if not most of the people who have placed pre-orders will want an iPhone 4 and onlyan iPhone 4. If shortages continue, though, expect increasing numbers of potential iPhone buyers to start looking at other high-end smartphones like the HTC EVO and the upcoming Droid X."
    -ModMyi.com

Which is why, as I stated in a previous thread, that Apple should have had on-hand a minimum of 3 million units before even announcing the darn thing and the so-called "pre-order" window should have been open for a month. That would have given them time to move the existing units and be producing more. I love Apple, but what kind of amateur-hour-fisher-price-my-first-product-launch has a one week pre-order window before launch without having a clue as to how many units they would move on launch?

  • I purchased Lightroom 5 from Best buy and when I enter the redemption code to retrieve the serial number it say invalid code

How do I contact Adobe to find out why the code does not work?

Assuming you’re entering the correct code, and not confusing a zero for the letter O or 5 for S or 8 for B or similar, then if you mean you went to the store and bought a box, the cashier needed to have scanned a bar-code on the box and transmit that data to Adobe, otherwise the code won’t work.  Maybe the code wasn’t scanned or maybe the data wasn’t transmitted in real time or maybe Adobe’s network didn’t get the data to the server right away.  If this is something you just bought a few minutes before trying the code, maybe wait a little bit longer.  Otherwise, there is likely a Contact Support button on the web pages that you can find on Adobe.com that will let you chat with an Adobe support person and they can perhaps tell you the status of the redemption code.  Or maybe just go back to Best Buy with your receipt and the box and have them scan the code.

  • Best Buy and Geek Squad Do it to me again! Arrrrgh!

I bought an iMac from Best Buy about 4 years ago, and the hard drive failed at 14 months. No problem, took it back to Best Buy, the Geek Squad told me for a couple hundred bucks could get this super eco friendly 2 TB drive put in for less than it would cost me for a Seegate 1 TB. Good drive I asked? Yep, great drive. Paid the man, got the iMac back, and every time I turned it on, the hard drive SCREAMED. Very loud. So loud I could not use it. Asked Geek Squad what to do. Did they offer to replace it. NOOOOO, all I had to do was search the internet forums, get a driver download aind it would be fixed. Common problem. Tried this fix off and on for months, no deal. By then the warranty expired, so no Geek Squad help there. And to rub salt in the wound, was told those eco drives were so horrible, no one sells them anymore.. Well, that made me feel MUCH better.
Fast forward to this week. I go into different BB, and relate the story to the store manager, while buying a cable on sale, and he tells me HIS Geek Squad will fix that problem for me, they will install a good Seegate drive, and the iMac would be better than new, after all, they are much better than those Geek Squad dolts up the road. So, bring my iMac in, tell them upgrade the hard drive to an S-Gate and max out the ram. Well, here's where it gets uglier.
"Here's the bill for the ram upgrade and we have to send this off for installing the new hard drive, cost you $34.95 for shipping." Hmmmm. Do we ship the hard drive up with it, I'll pay for that now. "No sir, we don't have the hard drive you want here, we are out, but the repair shop will call you and check with you before they install one." Hmmmmm. Good, but you do know I want to put an S-gate in there right, no more of these crappy hard drives like the last ones you guys installed. "No sir, trust us."
Got an email from the Geek Squad today, says call this 800-433-5778 number and we will discuss you repair costs. Call that number. For 20 minutes, the recording on that number took my informaiton and at the end said, "You will have to call another number for that repair, please call 800-433-5778. 7 times I tried calling that number, tried pushing buttons, asking for different options, nothing, routed back through the same stupid do loop. Finally, when the recording asked me for more info (on the 8th try), I just screamed at the recording. "Sorry, did not understand your response, let me connect you to a customer service rep."
Human on the line, she was very helpful, but could not tell me a thing about my repair except the part number and the cost. Dear, I do not want the part number, I want to know what hard drive is going into my computer, you guys (not you dear) screwed me the last time. "Sir, I am just a call center operator, I will have to connect you back with the store you shipped your computer from." Dear, they told me the repair center was going to call me, they had no clue what the repair center was going to offer me, except that they would pass on I wanted an S-gate. "Sorry sir, but that's all I can offer." Okay, put me through.
Geek Squad from the store on the line, "Sorry sir, the repair center called you on your work phone, and could not get you." That's not my work phone and I have not used that number in over 4 years, and was not the number I put on the contact sheet for the repair center to call me on this job. "Sorry sir."
Okay, this is simple, I just want confirmation that I am going to get the drive I want. "Sorry sir, the repair center may not carry the drives we carry in the store." What? "Sir, they use parts that we don't necessarily get in our stores, they may not even have S-gate drives.
Okay, let me get this straight, you charged me $34.95 for shipping to a center you know may not have the drive I specifically asked for, after tellling you you company SCREWED me the last time, but I am back here because you PROMISED you would put the drive I wanted in the computer, then you shipped it off to a center you know might not carry the drive I wanted, the center ignored the telephone number I put  on the contact sheet to call me, redirected me into a contact number that does not work, forced me to waste an hour on the phone for something I should have been able to resolve in a 20 second phone call, and are now telling me I could forfeit the $34.95 in shipping if I do not accept WHATEVER drive the tech at the repair center offers me, which is why I swore off purchasing anything at Best Buy for 4 years?"
'Yes sir, but it is not our fault because everything we have done to your computer, from the beginnning, is in line WITH Best Buiy policies. Is there anything else we can do to help you today?"

    Dear BonzaiB,
I am so sorry to hear that you have had issues with getting your computer fixed. I have had a computer in the past that had a bad hard drive too and it’s certainly no fun to get replaced. I didn’t have mine screaming at me though, I can’t imagine how annoying that would be.
We try to keep a big focus on the communication to our Geek Squad clients when they have devices out for service. The service center and our stores should be keeping you up to date with the status of your repair pretty regularly so that you don’t have to fuss with calling in yourself. I am glad that you were able to speak to a customer service rep but I apologize that it took so many tries to get to that point. By the sounds of it, had your desired phone number that you provided been input into the system, that call process could have been totally avoided. That’s not the kind of experience we want to provide for Geek Squad clients.
I was able to pull up your service order using your email address provided here on the forums and was able to see the notes that align with your post. I also reached out to the service center and was informed that you spoke with Darnell from the Desktop Repair Line about your computer today. Did he answer all of the concerns you had with the repair? I’m happy to hear that you will have a computer that won’t scream at you anymore.
I would still like to get more details from you via private message about your store experience so I can address the proper people with this feedback. To check your private messages, click on the envelope in the upper right-hand corner while you are logged into the forums.

  • Communication between Best Buy and Apple

Where is the communication between these two companies? It's frustrating to have NO CLUE if a phone will come in a day or in 5 weeks. Who at Apple is deciding what they end to what stores? Obviously, Best Buy has to pay for the phones. There has to be some sort of communication.
Would it really be that hard for someone high up in Best Buy to communicate with Apple? Maybe a list from each store of their orders and what they are waiting on. Give that to Apple. Apple can give some sort of answer. Exepect this much in this time frame... expect this much later. I mean, something. Instead of leaving everyone in the dark, completely.
Someone at Best Buy corporate has to have SOME clue how Apple is shipping and to what stores. To say no one has no clue at all, is nuts. And if it's true... Best Buy needs to get a clue. DO SOME WORK FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS. At least get some truth, so if we need to go elsewhere, we can. It would be better for both sides.

Apparently since they come on UPS, they don't know when the shipments are coming in or how much. Which I think is bull.
If that's the case, what I want to know is HOW do they know they received the amount they were expecting? If they don't know how much they're getting or when they're getting a shipment, then what's stopping the delivery man from stealing a box, and they wouldn't know any better? Maybe the higher up manager's know, and they aren't allowed to reveal that info, but there has to be a checks system in there somewhere verifying the stock received.

  • Best Buy and Sprint have no sense of morals- I do not recommend either

I would just like to take the time to post about how Sprint and Best Buy have done a really wonderful job of screwing my monthly budget and account. My ex and I still share the same phone plan and he needed to upgrade his phone. He went into a Best Buy Mobile store to complete this upgrade and the sales associate at Best Buy needed me to provide my "Security Code" to open the account and complete the transaction. Well while the associate had my account opened they allowed my ex to open NEW SERVICES ON MY ACCOUNT. When I found out the new services had been open the 14 day return window had passed AND not to mention that the only way I was made aware of such services was by receiving my bill AFTER THE 14 DAY RETURN WINDOW. Completely absurd and a violation in contractual law. I contacted Sprint on several occasions- was left on hold for 45 minutes, hung up on, transferred from one dept to the next, promised return calls- you name the worst customer experience and Sprint has matched it. Apparently Sprint's take on the whole incident was that once you provide your "Security Code" to the representative you are giving access to do anything and everything on your account- it baffles me bc that is almost saying if someone walks into a bank and has my social security number that they should be able to borrow money in my name. I would not recommend Sprint services to anyone. After speaking on the phone with the Asst. Manager of the Best Buy location that allowed such NEW services to be opened under my account they were unwilling to assist me in rectifying this problem. I was told that I could sit on the phone with Sprint while the associate ate his dinner in the back. I sat there for 45 minutes and they were unable to offer me any resolution for their error. I have purchased thousands of dollars in goods at Best Buy but at the end of the day I will NOT be returning to the store with my business. I will be placing a complaint with the NY Attorney General's office against both Sprint and Best Buy for their lack of care when handling accounts on behalf of customers.

    Hello User834811-
It was definite nice of you to allow your ex-boyfriend to remain on your phone plan.  I’m sorry to hear that he may have taken advantage of that generosity by opening some new services which have added to your bill.
Regrettably, by providing that security code to our sales associate and allowing your ex-boyfriend to be on the account, we cannot be responsible for any extra services that he started.  While it is painful to hear, this sounds like something that you need to discuss with him, especially if it’s financially impacting you.  I can also only recommend working with Sprint to see what assistance they can provide to either cancel or refund those services.
I absolutely apologize that you were treated this way by the store.  It’s one thing to advise a customer that the manager is currently unavailable and another to phrase it the way the store did.  I will be documenting this for the store as it sounds like the associate your spoke with could use some additional training on how to handle these situations.

  • Motorola Photon 4G - Will it be available at Best Buy on the release date this Sunday 7/31?

First post on here, but hopefully I can get a definitive answer. I've received conflicting reports about this and Best Buy's Mobile Guide says the phone is "coming soon," but I want to verify that I'll be able to purchase this on Sunday, as I need the phone for use overseas shortly after this weekend. Can anybody who works at Best Buy confirm that the phone will in fact be available for purchase this coming Sunday? If not, I'll need to purchase it somewhere else. Thanks.

Did you get it yesterday? I've never had good luck getting Saturday delivery with them.
Speaking of the developer community, doesn't this phone have a locked bootloader? Personally, I want this to be my next phone (mostly because of the gsm radio) but I'm quite partial to custom roms.

  • Will Best Buy carr the new JVC GZ-HD620BUS?

It seems as if the current product line of camcorders seems a bit older. I saw the GZ-HD620BUS came out this month and was wondering if or when it would be available from BB. I've got some gift cards burning a hole in my pocket!
    Thanks!

    Hi Brodacious,
This looks like a very nice camcorder, and I can understand you wanting to purchase it! Unfortunately we don't plan on carrying this camcorder when it is released for sale in February of this year. We instead will be offering the JVC model GZ-HD500BUS as part of our camcorder assortment.
    Thanks for posting,
