Best Practices - Help required

I am struggling to understand how Best Practices (warehousing ) could be implemented for SME's (UK) in ECC 6.
Any advice, pointers to documents which are practical  would be useful.
Is there a set of steps that one needs to follow in order to map the existing client business process and then superimpose that on the best practice templates chosen?

Hi Hari,
The Best source of documentation for the Best Business Practices is help.sap.com. You will find the configuration guides, Business scenarion power point presentations and the BPP's of the scenarios there.
Procedure:

and go to environment in the menu options TransactRFC--->in the sourcesystem...
give the logon details and enter and from there give the correct target destination as ur BI server and execute...
if u find some idoc's pending there push that manually using F6..
and come back to ur load and refresh....

  • Best Practice - Hardware requirements for exchange test environment

    Hi Experts,
I'm new to exchange and I want to have a test environment for learning, testing ,batches and updates.
In our environment we have co-existence 2010 and 2013 and I need to have a close scenario on my test environment.
I was thinking of having an isolated (not domain joined) high end workstation laptop with (quad core i7, 32GB RAM, 1T SSD) to implement the environment on it, but the management refused and replied "do it on one of the free servers within the live production
environment at the Data Center"... !
I'm afraid of doing so not to corrupt the production environment with any mistake by my configuration "I'm not that exchange expert who could revert back if something wrong happened".
Is there a documented Microsoft recommendation on how to do it and where to do so to be able to send it to them ??
OR/ Could someone help with the best practice on where to have my test environment and how to set it up??
    Many Thanks
    Mohamed Ibrahim

I think this may be useful:
It's their official test lab set up guide.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/15392.test-lab-guide-install-exchange-server-2013.aspx
Also, your spec should be fine as long as you run the VMs within their means.

  • Must use Captivate v4.0 to capture playing video - Best practices & PC requirements?

    Hi all,
I like Captivate, but have had a lot of trouble capturing playing video (a big part of my client's product) in the past. Despite encouraging client to consider other tools, they have decided they want to continue using Captivate and output to SWF. Some of us on the team for a previous project using v3.0 were able to successfully capture moving video, others weren't. (Vaguely recall something to do with a Hardware Acceleration setting, but it didn't work for everyone.) We've all upgraded to v4.0 but haven't used it yet. My questions are:
    1. Has this been improved at all in v4.0?
    2. What is the "optimum" PC hardware for doing this? (I am purchasing a new desktop, and need to keep cost to a minimum, BUT that is secondary to being able to produce these demos with moving video captured well!)
    3. Can you give me any best practice tips specific to capturing moving video? FYI, we will be adding audio narration (after capture), but will not be using written captions except for a few Notes/Tips.
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Office 365 Best Practices Analyzer requirements

Can you install the office 365 BPA from a windows 7 workstation, or do you need to install it on the Exchange Server itself, and run it from there?

    Hi cf090,
This depends on which BPA you are trying to run. If you are running Office 365 Best Practices Analyzer for Exchange Server 2013 then this needs to be installed on your Exchange server (you can see the requirements here: http://community.office365.com/en-us/w/deploy/office-365-best-practices-analyzer-for-exchange-server-2013-requirements.aspx)
There are other BPAs for O365 such as Office 365 Best Practices Analyzer for your PC but this is designed to see if your PC supports O365 not Exchange. More details here: http://community.office365.com/en-us/w/deploy/office-365-best-practices-analyzer-for-your-pc.aspx
    Hope this answers your question!

  • Rules Best Practice Advice Required

I find that I'm fighting with the Business Rules in my BPM project, so I'd thought I throw the scenario out here and see what best practices anyone might propose.
    The Example*:
Assume I have people, and each of them is assigned a list/array of "aspects" from an enumerated set: TALL; SPORTY; TALKATIVE; TRAVELER; STUDIOUS; GREGARIOUS; CLAUSTROPHOBIC.
Also assume I have several Marketing campaigns, and as part of one or more processes, I need to occasionally determine whether a person fits the criteria for a particular campaign, which is based on the presence of a one or more aspects. The definitions of the campaigns may change, so the thought is to define them as business rules; if they change, the rule changes, without impacting the processes themselves (assume the set of campaigns doesn't change, just the rules for matching aspects to a particular campaign).
My initial take is to to define each campaign as a bucketset, containing aspects, the presence of which indicates inclusion in the campaign. If a person has ANY of the aspects, they are considered a member.
Campaigns (each perhaps defined as a LOV bucketset):
    DEODORANT: SPORTY, TRAVELER, GREGARIOUS
    E_READER:STUDIOUS,TRAVELER
    BREATH_MINT:TALKATIVE, GREGARIOUS
    HELMET:TALL, CLAUSTROPHOBIC
So we want to create a service to check: Does a person belong to the BREATH_MINT campaign? We extract their aspects and check to see if ANY of them are in the BREATH_MINT campaign. If so, we return true. Basically: return ( intersection( BREATH_MINT.elements(), person.aspects() ) ).size() > 0
The problem is: what's the best way to implement this using Business Rules? Functions? Decision Functions? Decision Tables? Stright IF/THEN? Some combination of the above? I find I'm fighting the tool, which means that, although this is a fairly simple problem, I don't understand the purpose of the various parts of the tool well.
    Things to consider:
Purpose: test a person for inclusion in a specific campaign
Input - the person's aspects, either directly, or extracted from the person
    Output - a boolean
There can be a separate service for each campaign, or it could be specifed by an enumerated value as a parameter.
    Many thanks in advance!

I recommend finding out exactly why they would need administrative privileges and find GPO settings that would work for your organization. If they only need to install Drivers lets say, then only give them privileges to do that.
I personally work in the IT Department (Army of two) in an environment that has hundreds of users. They program, manufacture, and design various products and we are not flooded with requests. No user has administrative privileges aside from the us two in
the IT Department. This allows us to better control the environment.
By allowing your users to have administrative privileges, they will always have the capabilities to "Override" your policies for at least the computers they have administrative privileges.
Of course, each environment is different and should be considered differently when setting up users rights and privileges. To perform their daily functions, ask yourself what administrative privileges do they need? Maybe only allow them those privileges
    through GPO.

  • Audio Best Practices- Help

    Hi everyone,
I've been working with Captivate for a while and am currently
using version 2. An issue I haven't really solved successfully has
to do with distributing audio timing in a non-tedious fashion.
When making a demonstration, Captivate makes separate slides
for each click. Now, let's say I record my demonstration and have
an MP3 narration file to record for the whole project. I choose the
option to manually distribute the audio file over separate slides.
The problem is that the slide length doesn't adjust...so when
I click next slide, the slide bar goes to a different point than
the one I want. In short, Captivate doesn't adjust slide lengths
through the timeline audio editor, according to the audio sync-ing.
I know that smooth narration can be done throughout all of the
slides, from those tiny "click" slides to the longer ones...but
HOW? Some slides change mid-word in the audio file, or contain only
a fraction of a word. Without really intense audio chopping., how
    is this done?
    I'm so frustrated.
    Thanks!
    Jessica

    Hi Rick,
    Thanks for your response.
Yes, I have recorded audio directly in Captivate, though not
in a demonstration movie. I imported screenshots that were provided
to me. When you record audio directly, it adjusts the slide length
as you record? (I did change the default to be really short...also
    for objects)
I have a bunch of movies and am replacing the existing audio
files with new, external audio files that just won't sync...but I
will try re-recording the audio in Captivate. My co-workers record
audio externally and import per slide, but I want continuous
narration while the animations are playing, which gets tricky with
audio editing like that. I've seen this done well, so I know it is
    possible.
So the scripting workflow would be to record the movie, then
designate the slide changes in the script (even those tiny slides
that have a partial word for audio) and just record in Captivate,
advancing to the next slide while speaking?
    Thanks!

  • Query: Best practice SAN switch (network) access control rules?

    Dear SAN experts,
Are there generic SAN (MDS) switch access control rules that should always be applied within the SAN environment?
I have a specific interest in network-based access control rules/CLI-commands with respect to traffic flowing through the switch rather than switch management traffic (controls for traffic flowing to the switch).
Presumably one would want to provide SAN switch demarcation between initiators and targets using VSAN, Zoning (and LUN Zoning for fine grained access control and defense in depth with storage device LUN masking), IP ACL, Read-Only Zone (or LUN).
In a LAN environment controlled by a (gateway) firewall, there are (best practice) generic firewall access control rules that should be instantiated regardless of enterprise network IP range, TCP services, topology etc.
For example, the blocking of malformed TCP flags or the blocking of inbound and outbound IP ranges outlined in RFC 3330 (and RFC 1918).
These firewall access control rules can be deployed regardless of the IP range or TCP service traffic used within the enterprise. Of course there are firewall access control rules that should also be implemented as best practice that require specific IP addresses and ports that suit the network in which they are deployed. For example, rate limiting as a DoS preventative, may require knowledge of server IP and port number of the hosted service that is being DoS protected.
So my question is, are there generic best practice SAN switch (network) access control rules that should also be instantiated?
    regards,
    Will.

    Hi William,
That's a pretty wide net you're casting there, but i'll do my best to give you some insight in the matter.
Speaking pure fibre channel, your only real way of controlling which nodes can access which other nodes is Zones.
for zones there are a few best practices:
    * Default Zone: Don't use it. unless you're running Ficon.
    * Single Initiator zones: One host, many storage targets. Don't put 2 initiators in one zone or they'll try logging into each other which at best will give you a performance hit, at worst will bring down your systems.
    * Don't mix zoning types:  You can zone on wwn, on port, and Cisco NX-OS will give you a plethora of other options, like on device alias or LUN Zoning. Don't use different types of these in one zone.
    * Device alias zoning is definately recommended with Enhanced Zoning and Enhanced DA enabled, since it will make replacing hba's a heck of a lot less painful in your fabric.
    * LUN zoning is being deprecated, so avoid. You can achieve the same effect on any modern array by doing lun masking.
    * Read-Only exists, but again any modern array should be able to make a lun read-only.
    * QoS on Zoning: Isn't really an ACL method, more of a congestion control.
VSANs are a way to separate your physical fabric into several logical fabrics.  There's one huge distinction here with VLANs, that is that as a rule of thumb, you should put things that you want to talk to each other in the same VSANs. There's no such concept as a broadcast domain the way it exists in Ethernet in FC, so VSANs don't serve as isolation for that. Routing on Fibre Channel (IVR or Inter-VSAN Routing) is possible, but quickly becomes a pain if you use it a lot/structurally. Keep IVR for exceptions, use VSANs for logical units of hosts and storage that belong to each other.  A good example would be to put each of 2 remote datacenters in their own VSAN, create a third VSAN for the ports on the array that provide replication between DC and use IVR to make management hosts have inband access to all arrays.
When using IVR, maintain a manual and minimal topology. IVR tends to become very complex very fast and auto topology isn't helping this.
Traditional IP acls (permit this proto to that dest on such a port and deny other combinations) are very rare on management interfaces, since they're usually connected to already separated segments. Same goes for Fibre Channel over IP links (that connect to ethernet interfaces in your storage switch).
They are quite logical to use  and work just the same on an MDS as on a traditional Ethernetswitch when you want to use IP over FC (not to be confused with FC over IP). But then you'll logically use your switch as an L2/L3 device.
I'm personally not an IP guy, but here's a quite good guide to setting up IP services in a FC fabric:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/switches/datacenter/mds9000/sw/4_1/configuration/guides/cli_4_1/ipsvc.html
To protect your san from devices that are 'slow-draining' and can cause congestion, I highly recommend enabling slow-drain policy monitors, as described in this document:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/switches/datacenter/mds9000/sw/5_0/configuration/guides/int/nxos/intf.html#wp1743661
That's a very brief summary of the most important access-control-related Best Practices that come to mind.  If any of this isn't clear to you or you require more detail, let me know. HTH!

  • Best practices to configure files to display and play in order?

I'm looking for best practices to get saved recordings (songs and business trainings) on my PC correctly configured so they will show up correctly (artist, song title, track number) and play incorrect order.
I have lots of MP3 files (and other formats) on my PC but when i transfer them to iTunes and sync to iPod they don't play in correct order or show up as unknown artist (and other issues).
I typically have them in a folder by artist name then folder with name of course or album then each song begins with a number.
EXAMPLE: Eagles (folder) - Hotel California (folder) - 1.HotelCalifornia.mp3, 2.NewKidInTown.mp3, etc etc.
I've also right-clicked and went into properties and add the track number,  artist name, album name, contributing artist etc but it still comes up with these issues
--it's also very time-consuming to do this.
EXAMPLE: instead of it being track 1,2,3 etc it will be 1,10,11,2,21,3...
I've tried dragging them or copying them into the "automatically add" folder and also adding to library in iTunes.
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi Narendra,
Oracle User and the FTP user are 2 different users.
I'm assuming you'll be reading the file from R12 through File Adapter and writing it to Bank using FTP Adapter.
Oracle User is able to login into R12, do some operations, submit some concurrent programs/requests based on responsibilities and generate the file to be transferred (like in my case it did by running a Concurrent Request). The file so generated should be placed at a location from where File Adapter can read it within the BPEL process. Now to read the file, the user that is used is a SOA server user (again different from R12 user). This is the same user that you use to login into your SOA server physical box. Hence to be able to read the file, your file should have appropriate privileges (we set that as 777) so that it can be read by the SOA process (using SOA user).
FTP user, on the other hand, is the user that allows connection to Bank FTP server. This has absolutely no connection with R12. Bank who hosts the FTP server must give you the FTP user details that you'll use inside your FTP JNDI Configuration on Weblogic. When you deploy and run your process (you don't deploy adapter), it picks up the connection details from FTP JNDI properties that you defined in weblogic.
Hence both the jusers can be different and I don't think any best practices are required or do exist for this.

  • Best practices for TOC, versus PROJ title, filename

I am seeking "best practice" help from the forum. Say a TOC
is to have numbers as part of the organization, 1,2,3...and topics
will be sub-numbered (as in 1.1, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, etc). I am not aware
of any way to automatically manage this, they must be explicitly
    typed in the TOC editor.
I have heard some say that the "view" in the Project should
mirror the view in the TOC. That would imply that folder
organization, filenames and titles would be in sync with the TOC,
and also include the section/chapter numbering.
If you have to make a change and resequence things, or insert
a new chapter between 2 and 3 then there is a LOT of work to do.
I am leaning in the direction of having filenames and titles
be separate from the TOC structure, and not use Field[title] in the
documents to simplify the update process. This would also simplify
    updating links within the documents.
However, I am still pretty new with Robo and don't have the
seasoning some of you have with long term effects of particular
    organization.
Any help, or best practices that can be shared?
    Thanks!
    Don

    Thanks for your input Colum,
I am actually considering the opposite of your comment - to
have numbering in the TOC but NOT with the Project folders. I
consider the TOC much more volatile and flexible than the folder
structure. As long as one knows what goes with what. So the good
news is there is not a sacrosanct line drawn between the project
names and structure and that in the TOC. This helps. If I have to
resequence section 2 and section 5, I mainly just change the TOC. I
would not have to move or rename any folders in the Project view.
The other part, using the document title (in the topic
properties) to automatically update the topic title in the text I
like quite a bit and I think can make the case with my peers. That
offers a lot of flexibility. As in the above mentioned
resequencing, I would have to access the properties for each topic
in the project folder that used to be in section 2, and edit the
document title to reflect its new position in section 5 (and vice
versa). That is pretty straightforward. I do NOT have to rename all
those folders and files in the Project view.
    Thanks again for chiming in.

  • Oracle EPM 11.1.2.3 Hardware Requirement and best practice

    Hello,
Could anyone help me find the Minimum Hardware Requirement for the Oracle EPM 11.1.2.3 on the Windows 2008R2 Server? What's best practice to get the optimum performance after the default configuration i.e. modify or look for the entries that need to be modified based on the hardware resource (CPU and RAM) and number of users accessing the Hyperion reports/files.
    Thanks,
    Yash

Why would you want to know the minimum requirements, surely it would be best to have optimal server specs, the nearest you are going to get is contained in the standard deployment guide - About Standard Deployment
Saying that it is not possibly to provide stats based on nothing, you would really need to undertake a technical design review/workshop as there many topics to cover before coming up with server information.
    Cheers

  • Best practices for making the end result web help printable

Hi all, using TCS3 Win 7 64 bit.  All patched and up to date.
I was wondering what the best practices are for the following scenario:
I am authoring in Frame, link by reference into RH.
I use Frame to generate PDFs and RH to generate webhelp.
I have tons of conditional text which ultimately produce four separate versions of PDFs as well as online help - I handle these codes in FM and pull them into RH.
I use a css on all pages of my RH to make it 'look' right.
We now need to add the ability for end users to print the webhelp - outside of just CTRL+P because a)that cuts off the larger images and b)it doesn't show header, footer, logo, date, etc. (stuff that is in the master pages in FM).
My thought is doing the following:
Adding four sentences (one for each condition) in the FM book on the first page. Each one would be coded for audience A, B, C, or D (each of which require separate PDFs) as well as coded with ONLINE so that they don't show up in my printed PDFs that I generate out of Frame. Once the PDFs are generated, I would add a hyperlink in RH (manually) to each sentence and link the associated PDF (this seems to add the PDF file to the baggage files in RH). Then when I generate my RH webhelp, it would show the link, with the PDF, correctly based on the condition of the user looking at the help.
    My questions are as follows:
1- This seems more complicated than it needs to be. Is it?
2- I would have to manually update every single hyperlink each time I update my FM book, because I am single sourcing out of Frame and I am unable (as far as I can tell) to link a PDF within the frame doc. I update the entire book (over 1500 pages) once every 6 weeks so while this wouldn't be a common occurrence it will happen regularly, and it would be manual (as far as I can tell)?
3- Eventually, I would have countless PDFs inside RH. I assume this will eventually impact performance. So this also doesn't seem ideal?
If anyone has thoughts/suggestions on a simpler way or better way to do this, I'd certainly appreciate it. I have watched the Adobe TV tutorial on adding a master page but that seems to remove the ability to use a css across all my topics and it also requires the manual addition of a manual hyperlink to the PDF file, so that is what I am proposing above, anyway (not sure the benefit, therefore).
    Thanks in advance,
    Adriana

Anything other than CTRL + P is going to create a lot of work so perhaps I can comment on what you see as drawbacks to that.
a)that cuts off the larger images and b)it doesn't show header, footer,
