Best Upgrade path?

We have an Apex environment running on 11.2.0.3 database on
Application Express 4.2.0.00.27.
What is the best method for upgrade to 12c Database?

  • Best upgrade path 11.2.0.2 to 12c

    Hi,
    My current DB version is 11.2.0.2, DB size 500 G.
    Let me know the best upgrade path to 12c.
    1. Upgrade current OH to 11.2.0.4 and then to 12c
    or
    2. Fresh 12c Install and do a data imp/exp ?
    BR,
    Ajay

    Pl quantify what you mean by "best" ?
    You can directly upgrade from 11.2.0.2 to 12c - http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/UPGRD/preup.htm#UPGRD12358
    Using DBUA is recommended over any other upgrade method - http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/UPGRD/upgrade.htm#UPGRD105

  • Best upgrade path for ECC 6.0

    Hello,
    We've been stuck on the base ECC 6.0 release for quite a while.  There hasn't been management support for the time/resources necessary to implement and test any upgrades.  We also have a lot of local modifications to SAP supplied programs that we're planning on phasing out so that we keep closer to standard.  This is one of the main reasons we haven't been able to upgrade because of the effort involved in changing processes back to standard.  There was also an unwillingness on specific parts of the user base to change their processes.   We're now in a position where business and reporting requirements are going to force a system upgrade.  We also need run a unicode conversion from non-unicode at the same time.
    As we're starting the planning process we're unsure of the best path to allow us to implement future upgrades as necessary.  I see that EHP 7 runs on a basis version of Netweaver 7.40.  Is upgrading to an EHP pack for ECC 6 better than upgrading directly to 7.4?  Can the unicode conversion be done at the same time?
    I looked over previous discussions in upgrades but haven't found something that seems to match what we're looking to do.
    Thanks.

    Good Day
    As you have an ECC 6.0 system then you need to do an EHP update on the system.
    The latest is EHP7. EHP 7 is based on SAP NetWeaver 7.4 so when you update the system to EHP 7 you will be on NetWeaver 7.4
    The most important thing here is that you need to have a supported OS and DB for EHP7 installation. From EHP6 there is a need to have a higher version of OS and DB.
    Check PAM for the supported OS and DB combination.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/pam?hash=pvnr%3D01200314690900005013%26pt%3Dt%257CPLTFRM%26ainstnr%3D012003146949000…
    Regarding Unicode conversion you may read this.
    2033243 - End of non-Unicode Support: Release Details
    If you want to do the Unicode conversion then you should follow CUUC.

  • What is the best upgrade path from LiveCycle Designer 8.0?

    Back in June 2010, I developed a website for a client which included some interactive forms created with LiveCycle Designer 8.0 (came with Adobe CS3.) He recently brought to my attention the fact that the data filled in by his customers on the forms does not display in PDF docs on his iPhone or Android smartphone (the PDFs and filled-in data display fine via desktop browsers.) Can anyone suggest the best (least expensive, least painful... I don't want to rewrite his site in HTML5) solution? E.g., upgrade my LiveCycle Designer 8.0 version and reinstall the forms on his site? Would that be to Acrobat X Pro? Does a second set of forms need to be created for mobile format? Suggestions would be appreciated. Here is his web page with links to the existing 3 forms. Thanks. -Bob C.

    Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it. Since my post, I noticed that Adobe offers free apps for iOS and android devices "to view and work with PDF files." Called: Adobe Reader X for mobile. Any idea whether these apps would resolve the issue described above? (Filled-in data on forms created on desktops not displaying on mobile devices?) Unfortunately, I don't have an android device to test with and my iPhone hardware is not current enough to load the ios app. -Thank you.

  • Whats my best upgrade path?

    OK I ducked logic 8 and OSX Leopard but I want Logic 9, this is my current setup:
    Logic 7.2
    MacOSX10.4
    What is the best (by best I mean cheapest) way to get Logic 9?
    Should I wait for snow leopard? Can you upgrade from 7.2 straight to 9 (at reduced cost)? Can you get discount on the OS upgrade?

    http://store.apple.com/ussmb78313/product/MB795
    They sell the 199 upgrade from version 5 and up.
    Also, you will need Leopard 10.5.7 to run Logic Pro 9. Another $$$. No discounts.
    That is what to need to buy to get into Logic 9.

  • What is my best upgrade path

    K, I have been wanting to get a usable apple, but dont have alot of cash to blow on it. I got a G4 450 fro $20 at a surplus sale. I realize that is it a 8 year old machine, but i thought it would still be usable, running tiger.
    I can not get to to display video, see my other thread for details http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1411241&tstart=0
    It may be a cpu/logic board issue, I an considering swapping them out from a faster machine.
    Would this be worthwhile, or should I just trash it and try to get a faster machine.
    If so, what should I look for?
    Thanks

    Thanks Melophage. I've been looking into my options, together with the advice you gave. It seems like I can salvage quite a bit of data after a fresh install if I follow the steps here - OS X: Manually migrating data from another Mac. However, applications are my (only) concern -- for my iLife suite apps (which as I mentioned, are old -- '09 editions) how can I restore those after installing Mavericks fresh? Can I just plug in the original Snow Leopard disc that says applications on it, to install? Or would they show up in Mac App Store (I think not since they are so old and I haven't purchased '11 with this account yet).
    My wife's computer also has some third party apps which would be a pain to reinstall but not end of the world, I suppose. Another route of migrating and keeping these (but still doing a fresh OS install) might possibly be according to OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mavericks, which is really designed for multiple computer copying. But with the SSD external, could I install Mavericks and then take a Time Machine backup of my internal (original) HDD, including those apps, and then follow these steps to import them into the Mavericks install on the SSD, once I booted into it? Does that make sense?
    After some further reading on the subject, I found a lot of difference of opinion (especially on some MacRumor threads) about whether to install fresh OS X or upgrade, but I guess if the install ends up cleaner it could be worth it to install a fresh copy.
    Any comments on the above approaches, or thoughts from others here? Thanks again for your help.

  • OS upgrade path

    I have an older Macbook with a 2.4 Ghz intel core 2 duo processor and an Nvidia 9400 m GPU.  I believe this meets the upgrade requirements for the upcoming OSX Mountain Lion.  My issue is that I am still running OS 10.5.8 and mountain lion requires the app store - what is the best upgrade path for me to get to Mountain Lion? I won't be upgrading for a month or two when I can afford a memory upgrade to 4 gigs.

    You should still be able to get Snow Leopard by calling Apple Phone Sales via 1-800-MY-APPLE
    It's only available on DVD.
    The update to 10.6.8 is here; http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
    From there you use the App Store to buy and download Mountain Lion.
    Beware; it's a big download - apparently around 4GB so forget it if you're on dial-up!

  • Upgrade from SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 to R2 Fails - Unsupported Upgrade Path

    Hi everybody,
    I'm currently upgrading our SCCM infrastructure to SCCM 2012 R2 after have finished with the upgrade from SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1 CU4, thus far everything works fine, but when I try to update any
    of the site servers, whether CAS or Primary, I'm getting the following error message in the Prerequisites Check:
    I've gone through the system requirements and prerequisites over and over again and I can assure you that every possible update, supported OS, feature set, SQL Server, check list, etc,
    etc, have been followed as per the official documentation available, however I'm stuck in this point, and surely enough I haven't been able to find out a similar case.Additionally I'm adding
    the ConfigMgrPrereq log (the relevant portion of it) in case someone could kindly take a look at it.

    I confirm that this one site is a secondary one that's attached to a primary site and this log is from the CAS server, I managed to tall it and delete it from that site, but still appears listed
    on the CAS management console, any idea how to force the removal of a secondary site that's attached to a primary from the CAS site when it has been removed already from said primary?
    I've already tried the
    Preinst /DELSITE XXX  command but it only works when the site to remove it's attached to the local site and certainly not from a CAS
    Finally,  the version, build number and everything is correct, no idea what could be the problem, does anybody know a way to bypass this or force the re-evaluation of this rules, I've got
    the impression that it's being cached somehow.
    Any help would be highly appreciated,
    Thank you.

    Hello again everybody,
    I've finally managed to fix this up, in the end I had to delete those entries manually from the database as Garry suggested. After this was done the upgrade has gone through as expected with no further ado and has finalized already, now moving on to the
    primary sites.
    If anybody out there is facing the same issue, what I did was to delete those "stubborn" records executing the following statements over the CAS database:
    DELETE
    FROMServerDataWHERESiteCode='XXX'
    DELETE
    FROMSC_SiteDefinitionWHERESiteCode='XXX'
    And this is pretty much about it. I'd recommend to take a proper backup first though as best practice.
    Thank you all anyways for your answers and comments,

  • What is the best upgrade from 10.5.8 leopard.

    i just bought a used macbook pro with 2.4GHz core 2 duo and 2 gb memory.  what would be the best upgrade to OS.  is that enough to run Mountain Lion?
    my wife has a new macbook with mountain lion and i prefer alot of the way it looks compared to leopard.

    Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
    You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
    You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
    After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
    If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
    You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
    To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
           Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
    To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
             See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
         For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

    One option for me is to buy Windows 7 Home complete install then upgrade to Windows 8 Pro and eventually to Windows 8.1 Pro through the windows store. This is too tedious instead can I buy Windows 8.1 Home and use the Windows 8 Pro keys to upgrade it
    to Windows 8.1 Pro directly?
    Please advise on the correct version of complete Windows to be bought so I can take advantage of my Windows 8 Pro license.
    Best regards,
    Jai

    Hi Jai
    I suggest you to follow upgrade path using your Window 8 pro upgrade license since you already bought it
    And I suggest also check whether this PC ready to upgrade to Windows 8.1, you can check using upgrade assistance to check if there is compatibility SW or device before you upgrade
    There is 2 method for upgrade to Windows 8.1
    1. buy upgrade key
    2. buy DVD
    Regarding upgrade key or buy the DVD, I suggest contact retailer or Microsoft sales

  • AIR-WLC2106-K9 upgrade path

    Hi Cisco Wireless experts,
    I am going to upgrade my existing AIR-WLC2106-K9 (software release 7.0.240) to AIR-CT2504-15-K9. It looks like the new one
    AIR-CT2504-15-K9 ships with SW 7.5.
    What would be the best way to transfer config to the new one with minimum reconfiguration possible?
    Is this possible to run old config from 7.0 onto 7.5? Or any specific upgrade path should be taken?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Like the other post mentioned, if you understand the configuration, you can backup the config on the 2106 and edit that in a text file editor. Then you can upload that to the new WLC.
    You still have to go through the startup wizard on the new WLC just to get it up and running. So maybe what you should do is backup the 2106, and go through the startup wizard on the 2504, but don't connect it to the production network. I would connect it to a switch that isn't on the network and then I would configure my laptop with a static address so I can access the GUI. From there I would upload the config of the 2106 and see if it takes. You can compare the two WLC as the 2504 is t in the production network. If the config takes and your fine with it, then swap them out. If it doesn't work, well then you either have to downgrade the 2504 to the version the 2106 is on or you manually edit the config backup if you know the commands well to edit it.

  • NW 7.01 on Oracle 10.2.0.4 - Upgrade Path to NW 7.4 on Oracle 11.2

    Hi all
    One of our clients has a 2-system-BW-landscape (2 physical hosts) based on the following versions:
    * Windows 2008 R2 SP1
    * Oracle 10.2.0.4.0
    * Oracle Client 10.2.0.4.0
    * NetWeaver 7.01 SP7
    * SAP Kernel 7.01 Patch 94 64bit UC
    As you can see 60% of the setup is no longer in maintenance. The client does not have sufficient hardware ressources for a third physical host.
    I wonder what is the best approach (upgrade path) to update to
    * Oracle 11.2.0.4
    * NetWeaver 7.4
    * Kernel 7.41
    * Oracle Client 11.2.0.4
    My inital thoughts:
    Upgrade Kernel from 7.01 64bit UC to 7.20 (non-EXT) 64bit UC
    Upgrade Oracle InstantClient from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.4
    Upgrade Oracle from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.4
    Upgrade NetWeaver to 7.4
    I know there are a whole lot of SAP Notes about these topics, but maybe one can already suggest a way to go.
    What do you think?
    BR Michael

    Hi Michael,
    These sequence of steps which you described looks good.
    Upgrade Kernel from 7.01 64bit UC to 7.20 (non-EXT) 64bit UC
    Upgrade Oracle InstantClient from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.4
    Upgrade Oracle from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.4
    Upgrade NetWeaver to 7.4
    Steps 2+3 can be combined together and you will be left with only 3 steps.

  • New Clean Mac - Best Migration Path?

    I currently have a iMac G5 running Tiger and iLife 06 and have just recieved a new iMac with Leopard pre-installed and was looking for some advice in the best migration path.
    I would like to know wether people recommend just using the Migration Assistant to get everything across or should I start afresh and copy across specific photos, music, mail files etc?
    The question stems from the fact that the G5 has had a couple of upgrades in its time and I look at things such as the iphoto library files and they seem to be mutiple libraries (ie iphoto library, iphoto 6 library) and other duplicate files. So not sure if MA will sort and clean these out or will copy all across?
    Any thoughts would be apreciated........thanks Daniel

    Hello Daniel,
    Very similar issues here. Just upgraded from a G4 to an intel 2.4G. I cloned the G4 onto an external. Set up the new iMac. Connected to the external and ported across only those files I wanted or needed. Now have a clean iMac with no clutter or unwanted junk on it. Double checked that everything was in order before wiping the external and cloning again.
    Hang on to the G5 - Just in case you missed something. A flash drive or CD will resolve any issues.
    Regards

  • A.W. 6.0.4 Upgrade path to X

    I bought a copy of A.W. 6.0.4, my iBook is completely X. I can not install the 6.0.4 and the updater will not recognize the install CD as being in the "correct" area.
    Any ideas on how to make a upgrade path so I can get A.W. 6.0.4 to 6.2.9.
    I do have a OS 8.6 computer but if I install 6.0.4 to upgrade I will be installing another copy of Apple works. I am stuck
    Thanks
    Sue

    Hello Susan,
    Classic installs under OS X as if it were another program. Basically, classic mode runs just like any other program in OS X. It doesn't require you to remove OS X first.
    So, it shouldn't be much of an inconvenience. I think it only takes a couple of minutes to run the installer (it's been a while since I installed it).
    I can understand if you didn't want Classic on the machine, but it doesn't require anything fancy (no removal or changes to OS X) to install it.
    Basically, if you install Classic under OS X, it just looks and behaves like any other OS X application.
    To run classic, you just launch it, and then run any of the OS 9 applications you want. OS X then decides whether it is a classic mode program or OS X program and handles it accordingly. For all intents and purposes, it is pretty seamless.
    Some people have classic mode configured to launch with the booting of OS X. Then, you can run OS 9 and OS X programs side by side, and not have to even think about classic mode. In that arrangement, you wouldn't even think about whether it was an OS 9 or OS X application.
    But, personally, I prefer to just launch classic when needed. Otherwise, I just leave it closed.
    I'm not sure if you are familiar with classic mode on OS X or not, but it isn't the same as dual booting, or having 2 separate operating systems installed. You don't choose between them when you boot, you just run classic on top of OS X.
    Apple has actually made it so that many of the newer machines can only use classic mode on top of OS X. The newer machines cannot even boot OS 9 as a stand-alone operating system.
    I can understand if you don't want to install the classic mode for OS X, but it would probably be more convenient to do that than to purchase a new copy of AppleWorks.
    Best of luck to you whatever you decide. Let me know if you have other questions I might be able to answer for you.

  • Looking for the Proper WAAS Upgrade Path

              A while back I started upgrading some of our WAAS 274/574 devices and once I got halfway through I relized I was on the wrong path to get the devices to accelerate and compress Native ICA for our Citrix sessions.
    So Currently I have half our devices at 4.3.3c and the other half at 4.4.7
    So my questions are....
    What is the latest greatest version that I should be at for Native ICA Acceleration?
    What is the best upgrade/downgrade path I should take to get there?

    Dan,
    It is recommended/required to run 4.2.1 (or a later version) before you install Version 5.3.1
    You cannot upgrade from 4.0, 4.1, or 4.2 to 5.3.1 since it is NOT supported
    Here you have a link about it:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/waas/v531/release/notes/ws531xrn.html#wp63349
    Please see the hardware specifications
    Hope this helps!
