Best way for play all function

i am making a dvd with 30+ three minute clips. they will be split up into different catagories. so each menu will have about 4-5 clips with seperate play buttons, and their end jump target will be the corresponding menu. i want to make a play all button without laying all clips on another track and setting that target. do i have use a script to do this, or is there another way to go about it.

There are two basic approaches to creating a play all situation - the first uses stories and the second uses scripts. If you use stories then there are two approaches to that - first off, you can make a story for each individual clip so that you can play just that one clip and then go back to the menu. If you do this then the play all will be a button that points to the actual track. The markers in the track must not have jumps - the story containers will need an end jump and menu call setting though.
The second method using stories is to place end jumps on the individual markers to go back to the right menu. You can then add a single story and place ALL markers in that. This single story becomes your 'play all'. If you do put end jumps on the markers then you limit the possibilities for navigation, unless you then set the end jump to go to a script to evaluate where to go on from there.
In both cases all of the clips are in a single track. You can mix and match chapters in stories as you wish, placing groups of markers together in a story so that only that group plays through... think of a story as a play list and you will get the idea - add the markers that you want to play through, and away you go.
If you want to set this up with scripts then there are several possibilities. However, unless you have all of the clips as separate tracks then there really is no need to script it at all - stories should give you all that you need. You might use a script or two to get the navigation better, but with careful planning you won't even need this.

Best method for PLAY ALL

I've used a couple methods for a PLAY ALL and wonder if anyone has comments on which is preferable. This will be for a glass-mastered SD DVD - an extra feature with an audio disc - and with 5.1 Dolby audio on the DVD.
On this one we're using multiple tracks and scripting to play each track successively as part of a PLAY ALL, or each track separately from a chapter menu.
Previously we've used one main track, and then played chapters via stories.

Depends on the project. But stories will usually play a bit quicker (less pause) since they are all on the same track (if they are on different tracks the playback gets kicked to a different part of the DVD which slows things down), and scripts sometimes are a little less reliable than stories. Found that more on older players, but once in awhile DVD SP scripting can behave strangely. I think most of the "gotchas" can be worked around.
Some others around here prefer scripts more than stories and do not like setting up tracks to have stories. I am not sure there is a perfect answer because each probably have the pluses and minuses, but I usually go with stories when I can, even though I find scripting alot more fun

I am sorry to say that you cannot play Blu-ray movies on any Mac. Whether any of us agree or disagree with this, it is the way of things currently. One can rip Blu-ray movies to a Mac, and play them without menus or extras, but this is illegal and it is a violation of the terms of use of these forums to discuss.

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

What's the best way to import ALL of my photos (34k +) and then share?

*Part I - importing:*
I've got approximately 34,400 photos on a networked drive that I need to be able to control using iPhoto. I want these files to stay on the network drive, but also be controlled by iPhoto (organized by date). Right now our photos folder on the network drive is a bit of a mess, some folders are named by date only and some are named by the event itself ("birthday 2009", etc.). I want this naming to go away in place of the iPhoto method (by date only). FYI, I am familiar with how to get to the "original" and "modified" folders/files within the iPhoto Library.
Question: Is there a way to get iPhoto to organize the photos (all by date) an leave the original photos on the networked drive? or do I need to:
> Import ALL photos into my iPhoto with the "import photos into iPhoto Library" option checked (iPhoto copies all original files to my laptop hard drive)
> Then manually move the file structure (all new folders created - by date) back to my networked drive

Right now, both of our MacBook Pro's use iPhoto to access those photos independently of one another (each laptop does their own thing). This also creates problems because when files are imported on my laptop they are saved locally (on my laptop) and not on the network drive, same goes for my wife's laptop. Then she's not able to see those new photos.
*Part II - sharing:*
I'm also in the process of trying to figure out the best way to share all of our photos between our different laptops. Using the "sharing" function in iPhoto isn't ideal since that requires both laptops to be on.
My understanding of sharing the iPhoto library itself (having it saved on the networked drive) between two laptops is that only one laptop can access this library at a time, or there's potential of having the files become corrupt (two laptops trying to access the file at the same time).
Question: What's the best way to share photos between two laptops?

Yes there is. But I don't recommend it as a way of working with iPhoto.
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
The problems arise when you change the path to the Files. iPhoto has no way of reconnecting that path and you could find yourself resolving aliases one at a time for all 34k Photos.
Other apps, such as Aperture have a command to re-connect with the master files.
FYI, I am familiar with how to get to the "original" and "modified" folders/files within the iPhoto Library.
Good for you but never, ever access the files this way. Period. Within the iPhoto Package File there are no user sercviceable parts.
All your work gets done in the iPhoto Window. Everything you need to do can be done from there - and must be.

Never, ever break up the internals of the iPhoto Package File. You'll break iPhoto if you do.
Also, what format is that Networked Drive? iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.
Question: What's the best way to share photos between two laptops?
If simultaneous sharing is your goal then you need to use a Media Server app. iPhoto isn't one.
The key really is the format of the NAS. IF you can make it Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then you can easily store your Library on it and share it. Otherwise you need to use another application for the job.

Best way for building an application main frame

I'm about to program a desktop application.
The main frame will have menus, toolbar, status bar etc.
There will be a lot of interaction between the menus, toolbar buttons and other custom gui components (such as an editor).
My question is which is the best way for building it.
Cramming all the code in one class file is out of the question.
I thought about making my own custom JFrame and add API functions like for it so different GUI elements can be accessed.
Each component which will be manipulated will be in its own class file with the constructor accepting a reference to my custom JFrame object which it is contained in.
Any suggestions on the matter would be of great help since I've never done extensive Swing programming before.
P.S.
The application makes extensive use of RMI.
What considerations should I take into account (except using SwingUtilities.invokeLater()) ?

I have replied on this subject somewhere else today but what I do is have one simple entry point where I just instanciate a JFrame.
On that frame I have a main JPanel. On that panel I add new objects like JPanels, tabs etc.
I keep each new panel in a separate source as it is easier when the application grows, and it will. That also means that several programers can work with the same application without interfearing each other.
I hope you understand what I mean the the thing is to split up the code into several sources.
It may not suit everyone but I found this approach to be the best for me.

Best way to copy ALL DATA from song to song?

Hello everyone,
I'm in the middle of scoring a film and have ran into what seems to be a corrupted song, and want to attempt to transfer all data from this song into a new file.
I'm running multiple global tracks with changes in tempos and time sigs all over, multiple audio tracks, and various Virtual instruments. I also have an extensive environment in which I use instrument tracks to access my exs instruments, as well as multi-instrument tracks for kontakt 2. Of course I have this saved as a template, but as you know as projects progress, the current song rarely looks like your autoload. So simply copying and pasting will not work, as I have many new instruments and audio files in different places in my arrange page. Thus when I try to copy and paste, logic sees that the current tracks are not "correct" and asks to "create new instruments" which seems to randomly throw all the instruments to the bottom of my arrange page, making it all out of whack!
With some help from the audio config window and some manual editing of the arrange page, I was able to get my song pretty much back to normal, but for future reference, what is the best way to transfer all of my data to another song, while still keeping the look and functionality of the song intact?

I'd LOVE to somehow avoid #4 if possible. As I stated

Yup, I was missing something really simple. If you choose NOT to copy instruments, it will ask you to keep the instrument or create a new track. If you keep the instrument (since my instruments names remained the same as the template) logic will connect the tracks with the instruments and only put the additional tracks (i.e. extra audio tracks etc) on the bottom. WAY COOL!
Now my process is a little easier, however if you have any other tips so share please feel free to post.

Best practices for flow of data from ECC --> SAP MII --> Shop floor & Vice verse:
1. Send ECC data through IDOC's/RFC's as messages to SAP MII message listener and BSL transaction process data and update directly on shop floor database as if you configured in Data services or later send those data by web service to shop floor system (i.e. depends on Shop floor machines).
From Shop floor:
shop floor --> SAP MII --> ECC
1. Use either Web service or fetch data from DB and pass data to BAPI's for sending to ECC through BLS transaction.

Is/was failing or has failed?
If the old computer still runs one of these methods may be best.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
I don't have personal experience with iTunes Match, but in principle you should be able to download all the tracks currently registered to your iTunes Match account. This isn't quite the same as restoring your previous library exactly as it was. There is always the potential for iTunes match to provide the wrong version of a song and could be content such as movies, podcasts, audiobooks etc. that would have been excluded.
