  • BEx Analyzer: Formula Variable with Replacement path change Month with Day

Hi experts I'm facing this issue in BEx Analyzer.
I need to have some dates in format DD/MM/YYYY in Index Structure, in order to do this I've created a formula variable with replacement path referenced to 0CALDAY characteristic.
The formula works but it behaves in a strange way:
if the day is higher than 12 the displaied result is correct (DD/MM/YYYY)
if the day is lower or equal 12 the displaied result is wrong (MM/DD/YYYY)
    I'm on BW 7.01 SP6 and BEx Analyzer 7.10 SP12, excel 2007.
anybody has faced this issue before?
    any help will be appreciated
    Daniele Cortopassi

    Hi Daniele,
This seems pretty strange. Pls. redo validation with the dump data, as being a flat struture BEx does not apply any logic changes. May be it might have been MM/DD/YYYY format as in workbooks. Else you may change the property of 0calday display as "Text". Business Explorer > Display > KeyMaster Data/Texts > Texts (Plese check this option). If you are using some text table you may maintain the same using BI0/TCALDAY (Similar to BI0/TCALMONTH2). Guess it should be an excel based issue; if not you may try the same in WAD/Report designer to verify the nature of the issue. If you don't face these inconsistencies in WAD/RD then you may change excel formatting options. Lastly, please let us know if the infoobject has some predefined settings in RSA1 > Infoobject > (BEx) Properites.

Not sure of why this error is comming up.
DO we need to update a OSS note for this.

  • BEx Analyzer report "New Formula", "Scaling Factor" property not working

    Hi Experts,
I have created a New Formula(Ex:- Dispatches * 2) in BEx Analyzer report. The result of the "New Formula" is 2000. When I maintain Scaling Factor as "1000" to the  New Formula properties, the result should be 2 but here 2000 is coming again.
When I maintain this property to the existing keyfigure in Analyzer report, it is working fine.
Please help me in this whether Scaling Factor can be applied to the New Formula or not in BEx Analyzer report. If it works, what changes we have to make to the New formula.
SAPKW73010 is applied already to SAP BW-730
    Please see the attachment.

    Sree,
Is the variable ABC the new one that you've created with Scaling factor setting given? The message you get on doing a syntax check on the query indicates that settings are ignored for use beyond the query.
And if this is the case, this is a known issue.
However such settings will work on existing keyfigures as it is in your case.
What you can hence do for this new variable is that if you are developing reports on top of this bex query, you can make the scaling factor setting at the report level.
Let me know if this works for you.

  • BEx Analyzer (7.x): currency change when new formula created

    Hi All,
I have a strange one.  Query is executed in BEx analyzer.  A new formula is created outside the query results window using excel functionality, and the currency changes from USD to DM.
    Example query results:
    Cell A1: Var 1 = $150.00
    Cell B1: Var 2 = $160.00
    Cell C1: Var 3 = $70.00
New formula created using excel functionality:  =sum(A1+B1) displays as 310.00 DM
The language settings have been checked for the operating system and for SAP (user data) and they appear to be correct.  Is there another setting to be checked?
    Thanks,
    Pam

sap said it was working as designed.  suggested we look at regional settings on laptop and make a workbook template with us settings.

  • BEx Analyzer - Convert to formula - Dynamics of a hierarchy

    Hi BI-Experts,
I have a question regarding the BEx Analyzer built in functionality "convert to formula".
Once I have done this, the report is more ore less static, establishing a fixed link between the cell and the query result.
    (BExGetData(u201CDATA_PROVIDER_1u201D,F8,E10)
Let's say I had included a G/L account hierarchy and converted the analysis grid item to formulas: I will lose drill down functionality of the hierarchy, drag & drop etc.. I can live with that.
But what happens, if I update the G/L hierarchy in BI by uploading from ECC and someone added an additional text node and 3 new G/L accounts. They won't appear in my "convert to formula" report, even when refreshing, right?
Does anyone know a work-around for a highly formatted report in BEx Analyzer which keeps the layout when refreshed (only way I know is with "convert to formula") AND using hierarchies which should be able being updated?
    Every hint is much appreciated!
    Kind Regards,
    Steffen Lange

Thats right, as now the key figure values are basic excel formulas though they refer your dataprovider.
The only option is to update the value of the hierarchy (new nodes etc) in the workbook too, you can add a new row and insert the new hierarchy value it should pick it up and key figures populated accordingly (you may need to put right row column value for your key figure calculation formula).

  • Drop-Down-Box (F4 Input Help) for formula variable in BEx Analyzer (BI 7.0)

    Hi Gurus,
is it possible to get a drop down box for a ready for input formula variable in the BEx Analyzer (not BEx Web!)?
We want to let the users choose scaling factors 1, 1000 or 1000000 (implemented via this formula variable). In the settings of the formula variable you can only choose a default value but there seems to be no option to provide all three factors in a drop down box like the ones for characteristic value variables.
We could prevent other entries in the variable pop up via customer exit (i_step 3) but the business is wishing an F4 input help like the ones for characteristic values.
    Thanks for your help,
    Marco

    Hi Macro,
Its not possible to get drop down box for a ready for input formula variable. Because it is possible only for characterstic value variables but not formula variable.u donnot get any drop down box like ready for input for formula variable.

  • Local formula created in web analyzer not reflected in bex analyzer.

    Hello all,
I had created a Local formula in the web analyzer and saved the query as a view. Now, when I open the same view in
bex analyzer then I cannot find the local formula column; i.e. it is not reflected in the bex analyzer.
Is this an error or this is not possible?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sandy.

    Hello Sandy,
If you create the formulo at the web analyzer you will not be able to see it at the bex analyzer. Only if you create at the query designer, so you will be able to see it at the web and bex analyzer.
    Thanks,
    Diego Ferrary

  • BI 7.0 Bex Analyzer Workbook - Convert to formula function features

    Hello,
when using the convert to formula function in a BI 7.0 Bex Analyzer Workbook (WB)  the result area becomes completely static.
1.) Is there a possibility to add drill downs / across into an already converted to formula WB?
2.) I inserted drop down boxes to allow F4 like selections, however those are pointless if several characteristics are being used i.e. the keyfigure results get blanked out. Is there another way to do this at all?
3.) Could someone provide me with a real live example / whitepaper how the convert to formula function can be used?
Many thanks for any feedback on this.
    Regards
    Christian

It does become static and all the workbook gets all the excel property.
The key figures are now calulated on the basis of your data provider from the server as a formula in each cell..
I had used to populate my key figure only for the required values of a characteristic.

  • Cell definition in Query Design within Bex Analyzer

    Hello,
I would like to use special cell definition to visualizing the difference row definition between 2 columns (last year and actual year). With "Cell Definition" function in Query Design within Bex Analyzer there's a option to select a new restricted key figure for a related cell. But as a result I just can see a star (*) against a result number in that field. Do you have an idea, how can I solve this problem?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nuran

    Hi again Dirk,
there's not a unit problem. We use 2 different restricted key figure definition for a same row. The first restricted (or can be decribed as calculated key figure) key figure must be used in the first column to represent the value of the last year. And at the same row with usage of same text (for example: cost of goods sold)the second restricted key figure should be used to show the value of actual year (B2:costs in euro). The problem is the key figure definitions are totaly different; they're using different account groups etc. Cause of, I wanted to use cell definition function. In the first value field (B1) should be shown first key figure but I just get star (*) and a wrong value in the formula field of excel (between the toolbars and the result area).
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Report in BEx Analyzer shows Red "X" in records field

    Dear Experts.
Report in BEx Analyzer us showing red "X" in the records field. Although there are figures in the field and is getting calculated in the overall result, but still the numbers donot appear.
Kindly advise how to fix this.

Please detail the KF formulae here..
Any value divided by 0 is not defined.
So if formula if its using division , you must use not div by 0 function. i.e.NDIV0 function

  • How to create a new column in BEx Analyzer

    Hello,
I have 12 characteristics and 7 Key figures in my Query. This includes RKF and CKF.
I'm executing the query in BEx Analyzer.
Now I want to include a new column which will be a replica of another Key figure column.
    How to do this?
    Regards,
    Arif

    Hello Arif,
You can do the setting in BEx QD and view it in Analyzer.
You can create a new formula and include the keyfigure in that formula.
This will be displayed as a new column on execution.
    Regards,
    Bharath

  • CKF not showing correct results in BEx Analyzer

    Dear Friends,
I am getting different results when viewed from BEx Analyzer and Web Analyzer for the same query. BEx Analyzer shows incorrect results. The column that is showing different is a local formula (say Formula3) that is a result of dividing Formula1 by Formula2.
BEx Web calculates Formula3 correctly while BEx analyzer does not.
    I am in BI 7.0 SP 10.
    Any Clues?
    Thanks
    Viren

For this calculated column set aggregation level as sum.

  • Bex Analyzer Design Mode

I am creating a workbook using the new Bex Analyzer Design Mode. I klick on the "Table" icon and then double click to get into the <b>Analysis Grid Properties</b>.
Here I select a Dataprovider and Query. Now here comes my question. On the Analysis Grid Properties - Tab "General" you have the possibility to influence "Behavior" by checking or unchecking certain fields:
    - <b>Can I check Field "Use Formulas" in combination with
field "Allow Navigation"?</b> Does that mean that I use
the "Convert to Formula" Function for the query but am
still a able to drill down and slice and dice?
    - I am a little confused because I thought that when
using the <b>"Convert to Formula" Function you are not
able to use the drill-down/slice and dice functionality
      any more????</b>
Can you help me with that?
    Thanks a lot
Message was edited by: Alex Miller

Yes, you can check both and actually use the slice and dice functionality and formulas at the same time if you set the properties from design mode. For runtime mode, if you choose convert to formula, you loose the drilldown capabilities.
It is not recommended to use both at the same time as the cell references that you use in the "Convert to Formula" mode change when you drilldown, and and copies of those references aren't updated.
This may help you in some creative scenarios, but in general, I wouldn't use these 2 together.

  • Subtotals in BEx Analyzer

    Hey!
How can I create subtotals in BEx Analyzer?
    Thanks a lot,
    Sabine

So you want a subtotal row for every 10 customers and there is no additional information to determine these customers (for example the 10 customers are all customers with a specific postal code)?
Which is your BW version? AFAIK you will have to go for Excel VBA macros if you are on NetWeaver2004 or below, in NetWeaver2004s it should work with Excel formula. I dont think there is an option to fulfill your requirement in Query Designer...
    Best regards,
    Björn
