BEx doesn't refresh cell style on drill down

Hi gurus,
i've a little problem, please help me!
In 3.x workbook when i drill a characteristic the excel cell change style: from "SAPBEXfilterItem" style, it becomes "SAPBEXfilterDrill".
In BI 7.0 workbook i've several NAVBLOCK, but on drill down cells format doesn't change.
How can i get the same by my 7.0 workbook??

    Hi,
    WebI reports on BEx source don't use same Drill feature as other sources, it's replaced by expland/collapse of hierarchy nodes (documented in WebI user guide in § "24.1 Drill defined"). This means you have to create query which selects all hierarchy sub-tree you plan on exploring later in report, otherwise if no data is available under a node there will be no '+/-' sign to visit this part of tree.
    You could try first to select "All members" from hierarchy in QueryPanel and see if behavior in report suits your needs. Then you should restrict hierarchy member selection to what's really needed to avoid performance issues.

    Hi gurus, I'm developing drill down chart and table.
    I want to reset, making cell blank, the drill down cell when i click combo box.
    I used push button to refresh or reset drill down value but it can not refresh(reset) drill down cell
    because the destination cell of the chart remains drill down value
    I tried like below way
    *Dashboard explanation
    this dashboard consists of one chart, one table, one combo box and one push button.
    Of course, chart has the drill down function
    a : drill down value
    Goal : make drill down cell turn to blank after i used drill down once.
    1ST.
    when i click the chart and use drii down, a is entered into drill down cell
    2ND
    by using "push button", i tried to reset drill down cell
    but unfortunately it does not work.
    Although drill down cell changes instantly to blank after just one second, it changes to a, drill down value
    Drill down cell changes like this
    1 -> 2 -> 3
    a -> blank -> a
    i have to eliminate (2->3) phase or find another way to refresh drill down cell.
    I think problem is the chart which remains drill down value(a) although pushbutton reset the drill down cell to blank.
    Is there any way to refresh or reset drill down value when i click combo box?
    Should i develop custom-component? i'm waiting for your answer.

    Amit,
    Can you confirm if what you're saying also holds for components with the "Enable Drill Down" option enabled, and the "Default Selection" is set to "No Selection (-1)"?
    I'm running into an issue where the "Default Selection" value is not cleared out after performing 3 levels of drill-down. On the third time I do a drill-down, by default the first element is selected, even though I've set the "Default Selection" to "No Selection (-1)".

  • Error while Drilling down across sheets

    Hi ,
    I am using the new BI 7.0 Bex Analyzer as forntend to my BI 7.0.
    While navigating in BI Bex Analyzer, when I select the the drill down accross sheet from the context menu of any characteristics, i get an error message  as follows.
    "*A Critical program error occurred. The program has to be clos. Please refer the trace for furhter inforamtion*."
    My SAP GUI version is 7.10 and the patch level 5.0
    Can any body suggest some solution on this.

    However, the query which you have already saved, You save it with a different technical name & then execute it, it works.
    It worked for me.

  • Drill Down when data is coming from a query

    Hello experts,
    I have one question regarding the drill down functionality. For sake of simplicity, let's assume we are working on a pie chart.
    i) Data is coming from a query (via the universe).
    ii) The data source is really the query itself, it is not coming from the excel sheet. In other words, the query is not first copied to the excel sheet and then fed to the pie chart. Pie chart directly uses the query binding.
    ii) When a slice in the pie is clicked, I want to copy that slice's information into a cell (basically the drill-down functionality).
    I wasn't able to achieve this functionality.  I think the problem is the 'source data' field in the 'insertion' tab. I select 'Row' as my insertion type and I also select a destination. However, when it comes to selecting 'source data' I have nowhere to point to since my source data is the query (query binding is not an option here). So, since I have no real source data, I cannot drill down and copy the values to the destination cell.
    The workaround is to copy the query data into excel first, but I don't that is an elegant solution. Is there any other way to achieve this?

    You confirm that mapping the whole column would be an option, right?
    Here is why I asked this question: Let's assume I have a dashboard that displays the types of encounters in a hospital. Some examples of encounter types are: emergency, elective, newborn, etc... Currently, in the database, there is data for these 3 types. So, the dashboard contains a pie chart and each slice corresponds to the number of visits by patients for this encounter type (e.g. 450 emergency encounters, 9900 elective encounters and 32 newborn encounters).
    Tomorrow, a new encounter type could take place in the hospital and this of course has to be reflected in the dashboard. If I make the assumption that there are only 3 encounter types, then the dasboard would be missing information. So, in this case, should I be mapping the whole column to the pie chart?

  • Drill/Down don't work and Characteristic is deleted after filter in BEx Ana

    Hi All, please help me experts
       I have 2 issue:
    1.- When I execute a Query in BEx Analyzer I got the first result, I can add other characteristics just to click on this.. or with context menu.. but later If I try to move de order of columns in the report the function for drill down doesn't work.  Then, I need to click on Design mode and then click off design mode... and the function for drill and down is actived, then only I can click on the characteristics and move to other column into the report. Please if you can tell how can I activate this functionality  without need to move to design mode..
    2.- When one characteristics is filter in to the report, example select some values for this characteristics and click on execute, I get the result but this characteristics dissapear form the report.
      Please help me I will assign points for the answers.

    1. You will find this option beside ? in Add-Ins. In that Settings --> BW Server Connection.
    + Not I didn't find... for example I saw... File.. Edit...view.. Insert... and others exactly like when you enter in excel ... the only difference it's that I saw activated the tool bar for bex analyzer.. on where I saw .. design mode... refresh..etc.+
    2. If you select the field in Free characteristics and restrict it with a variable in query designer mode, you will get that characteristic in variable screen and you can give the selection and you will not get that charcteristic in the output as you have taken that in free characteristic. Only if you do drilldown accross rows for that characteristic, then it will appear.
    If you take that into Rows in query designer mode, then you will get the same for variable selection and as well as in the output without drilldown accross rows. It will be displayed automatically.
    +The clear example is:  I have one free characteristic in report, like 0MATERIAL, this characteristics didn't have any restric value... then the user add 0MATERIAL into report just for see more details... later if the user filter 0MATERIAL with some values and click ok, the column 0MATERIAL dissapear from the report +

  • BEx analyzer don't work move columns in report (like drill down)

        I have an issue on BEx Analyzer...    When I built one report... add some characteristics and soo on... but then I need to move the order of columns... then I try to drill down.. or move to order of column... It doesn´t work,
        I did this function before.. when the poin of the mouse it's convert with other draw... like -->

        But this time it's not possible...
        Then If I press the icon that say design mode... I saw that the option of navigation is active... and when I close the design mode... the functionality of move columns work...:(
        It's difficult that each time that the user need to move columns in Bex will go to design mode... just for activate.. 
        I know thta we have some function on context menu.. for move columns one by other... but not for certain position..
        Could you help me please?

    Hi Alice,,
    This happens some time, when i am unable to drill down by just dragging and dropping the columns. though i could not find out why. Best thing, what i do, i refresh the query and next time it works Ok.. and other th ing what you can do, right click, on the characteristics list on the left pane, go to "change drilldown", then " drill down by" there the user can select the option he is looking in for.

  • Drill down doesn't work in Workbooks

    Functionality of Navigation Pane /List of filters in workbooks doesn't work.
    Some Insight ( how the workbook was built ) - RRMX - New Worksheet - Select Cells & Insert Buttons ( Change Variables & Refresh ), Navigation Pane, List Of filter, Analysis Grid - All others work excepting the Navigation Pane & List of filters.When I do "drill down " or " select filter value " , the functionality doesn't seem to be working...though the drill down works on Query Result Area ( like on right clicking " Cost Center " - Drill Down Cost Center Down ).
    Anything to do with Macros ????
    We are on  BI 7.0 - SP 13 , has anyone encountered a similar issue ???
    Any applicable OSS notes ....

    After opening a workbook did you refresh the sheet/query?
    When you open a saved workbook it will not have the OLAP information that is needed for
    drilldowns.

  • Screen refresh problem where data is entered and the screen doesn't refresh

    Many people in the company are experiencing the odd screen refresh problem where data is entered and the screen doesn't refresh to show the updated result in corresponding cell formulas.
    Microsoft have issued a hotfix to fix the issue for Excel 2003 as shown. Microsoft released a hotfix for this problem (<a href="advisory?ID=978908">KB978908</a>). Display memory tends to pick up data from hidden sheets and pastes it
    into the active screen. No impact on the file. This occurs when protecting and unprotecting worksheets in VBA. I also suspect that enabling and disabling screen refresh contributes to this problem. In any case there is a fix, albeit with the following disclaimer:
    As of yet I have not been able to find a fix for this for office 2010 and 2013, Any suggestions would be great.

    Based on your description, Excel does not show the text strings when you typing. It may be caused by the cell format, if we set the cell format as ";;;" in custom format, it will not display the text that you typed. 
    And the issue may be caused by the third-party input method, there are some compatibility issue between them.
    If the issue still exits, please try the following methods
    Verify/install the latest updates
    Repair your Office program

  • BEx rport drill down issue

    I have a a report in BI 7, it have the drill downs. When I inseted the rows above the drill down row, the drill down button is not getting moved, it still present in the new inserted row. I need this to be moved along with moved row. Please advice.

    Hello Jayaprakash,
    Are you using BEX Report, if so you cannot move the rows or columns using Excel function, but you have to use BEX function to move the cells
    In the BEx Toolbar -> Choose Layout -> Choose the required fucntion to move the result

  • Maintaining Cell Style with data update

    Having a difficult time trying to maintaining the styles and characteristics (built in ID) of a table from Excel when we update the link to refresh the data.  I have read old threads and went through the proper process of creating; Character, then Paragraph, then Cell Styles, then a Table style but no luck with the Table style. (Like the example in the video; which I agree don't believe it fully works)  But even just using Cell Styles, the data, when updated, is reverted back to it's original plain input and you manually have to apply the Cell Styles.
    How can I prevent having to manually do that process/ get the Table Style to work?  Is there a setting or check box that need to be checked when importing the data or relinking/updating the file?  Please help....using CS3.

    Formatted Table
    InDesign tries to preserve the same formatting used in Excel, although the formatting of text within each cell may not be preserved. If the spreadsheet is linked rather than embedded, updating the link will override any formatting applied to the table in InDesign.
    Unformatted Table
    The table is imported without any formatting from the spreadsheet. When this option is selected, you can apply a table style to the imported table. If you format text using paragraph and characters styles, the formatting is preserved even if you update the link to the spreadsheet.
    Unformatted Tabbed Text
    The table is imported as tab-delimited text, which you can then convert to a table in InDesign or InCopy.
    Formatted Only Once
    InDesign preserves the same formatting used in Excel during the initial import. If the spreadsheet is linked rather than embedded, formatting changes made to the spreadsheet are ignored in the linked table when you update the link. This option isn’t available in InCopy.
    I never use linked Excel files, but it looks to me like you should be using the second option: Unformatted Table.

  • Bug in formatting Tables with cel styles + toolbox

    We continue to have major problems with the cel styles. Lines disappear due to adjacent cells.
    Let me ellaborate:
    I have a cel style that has no background and only a .5 line at the bottom.
    Underneith I have a cel style that has NO lines. What happens is that when I link that style, the line from the cel above disappears. Then I reselect the top cel and link the correct style again, the line appears.
    This is obviously a totally unworkable situation.
    What helps 80% of the time, is to go in the options menu for the style. Then give all lines 1pt, black and a style. And then, in exactly this order, delete the linethickness, set the color to ignore and then set the style to ignore (ignore is a translation from Dutch, I do not know the exact term used in the US version). After this I save the style and usually it works.
    This bug has been a part of InDesign since the introduction of celstyles.
    And while I am ranting, another thing that has been irritating us since the early days. Quite often multiple styles in the panels seem selected. This happens in all panes (paragraph, type, cell and table styles)
    It seems to us that Adobe is only paying attention to adding new features, instead of fixing well known bugs.
    Does anyone have a solution to my issues?

  • Lose chart drill-down for webi based on BEx/BICS

    Hi All,
    I have a client for whom drill-down through charts based on SAP hierarchies is an essential requirement. My research here (and elsewhere) has led me to the following conclusions:
    1. IDT Universe (.unx) can't be based on BEx query (functionality briefly appeared then was revoked with subsequent SP)
    2. The supported/recommended method for reporting against BEx query is the BICS connectivity
    3. A webi report based on a BICS (although offers nice new sap hierarchy interaction) does not support drill-down through charts
    Just looking for confirmation that I am correct...and that my reports will therefore need to be based off traditional universes (.unv), to achieved drill down on charts in webi?

    1. Build table in WEBI Document include the Hierarchy object (0COSTCENTER).
    2. Choose the CostCenter, right click set as Selection.
    3. Now add new Blank Cell and put it near selection , enter there some text , like JUMP TO, DRILL and etc..
    4. Now select the CELL . right click , Linking and Hipper Link or Document Link, and choose there another document
       or you also can choose self document. When your linking to another webi document you can transfer to it parameters to   prompt. So Transfer the costcenter as parameter.
    The document link option available only when you run document in View mode (No rich client without JAVA). I will open OSS to SAP about this issue
    Also you can choose to open the document in current window, so then user will think that he is still in same document
    Example for link parameter:
    /portal/1110311905/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=AdJiD59b4kJKkhNpGCYT8Q0&sIDType=CUID&sType=wid&lsSpsCost%20Center%3A=Ness&sWindow=Same

  • Bex Free characteristic drill down in Web i report

    Hi
    I have a question, we are using bex query as source for our web i report.
    for that if you have an idea on Bex query analyzer, we can drill down on a free char list in bex and each and every drill down bex query go back to cube and fetches and refreshes the data based on the selection.
    In the same way can i get the same feature in Web i report, when i drill down my web i report should go back to the Bex query
    and should refresh the data.
    Any help in this regards is greatly appreciable

    Hi,
    What you described is an OLAP 'slice and dice' type workflow - try the Analysis web application (in bi4.0 launch pad). WebI can do some drill down,  but it is really best at consuming small chunks of rowsets (not 'flattened' OLAP datasets)
    webi does go back to hit the database,  but only when you click "refresh".  so you can add a new object, and it sometimes says "#TOREFRESH" - then user refreshes to expand the scope of analysis.
    this process was automated in XI3.1 (where the interface didn't prompt for the refresh) and customers typically complained of slow response times. i.e. they didn't realise the inclusion of a results object fired a new query.

    You do not connect it to the device at all. It is free standing. My MIFI2200 is about the size of a deck of playing cards. It's just like having a "non-wired" mobile router at your disposal. I just keep mine in my shirt pocket, or place it on the table next to me.
    There are rechargeable as well, or you can even charge in a wall socket them while using them if you like.
