BEx Exclusion from Selection Authorization Error

All,
Has anyone encountered the following situation and, if so, how have you handled it?
I have a query based on an InfoProvider which includes Company Code. We restrict data which users can view by Company Code. When my user executes the query they see data for all of the companies for which they are authorized. If they filter by company code and "include" companies which they are authorized to see the query works without any issues. BUT, if they filter by company code and "EXCLUDE" a company they get a "You do not have sufficient authorization" message and the query fails.
It seems as though the query is trying to get ALL company codes.
Any thoughts?

If you exclude a company, then when you execute a query , system will search for the companies you are authorized for
but since you have already Excluded it , you get "no authorization".
This is correct.
Unless you execute the combination which you have authorization , you will get the 'no authorization'
You can even check in transaction RSECADMIN, by executing the query using RSECADMIN -> RSRT transaction -> query
It will collect the authorization logs.
This will provide you complete details which authorization is failing and then you can correct them based on analysis.

Authorization Errors from BEx queries

We are developing Crystal reports on top of BEx queries. We are working on BO XI 3.1 FP2.8, Crystal Reports FP2.8 and SAP Integration Kit FP2.8 and SAP BW is BI 7.0 Suppport pack 5.0. How can we display the Authorization errors that are returned on BEx queries on the Crystal reports.
If i run the Crystal reports and if it comes back empty, there can be 2 reasons one no Data and second no proper authorizations. We want to display a mesage to users to tell them the report is empty either becaus of no data or Authorization error.

Javascript Error while executing BEx querry from browser

Hi Folks
We have been getting a number of Javascript errors while executing BEx querries from the browser.
The various errors that we have been getting are:
'SAPBWItemCatalog' is undefined
'SAPBWJSgdo' is null or not an object
'SAPBWShortCutCatalog' is undefined
We have already looked at SAP Note 783496 and validated the solution.
Is there some specific settings that needs to be maintained for this?

Just spent 2 hours chasing this one so I know how frustrating it is.
Solution:-
Check mime service in SICF - dafault_host/sap/bw/mime - if it's greyed out activate it.

Error when launching BEx analyzer from Portals

BI Gurus...
We are working on an initiative to migrate our user interface from SAP GUI to Enterprise Portal.
Bex Analyzer is primary mode of reporting at this time.
After importing the Roles into EP, I am able to execute the web queries successfully, in the BEx Wen analyzer. But, I get an error when I click on any of the excel workbooks. Our expectation was that once we click on the excel workbook name, the BEx analyzer will launch from EP. But it seems like the issue is with launching BEx Analyzer from BI Portal.
Has anyone faced this issue before?
Is it possible to launch BEx Analyzer from EP?
Are their some key portal settings we have missed out on to enable launching BEx analyzer from EP?
Please provide your thoughts/experience.

Thanks for your response.
The RRMXP Transaction works and it launching the BEx Analyzer as expected.
Now, as per our research, I think there are 2 ways of launching BEx analyzer from BI Portals.
1) Call via a URL
You can call BEx Analyzer via the following URL: http(s)://<server:port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/rsr_bex_launch/bexanalyzerportalwrapper.htm
You can modify the URL to open BEx Analyzer with either a workbook, a query or a query view. You can use the following parameters to do this:
●      Parameter to open the workbook: ?WBID=<wb_id>
I have tried calling via URL iView, but instead of launching the BEx Analyzer, it just throws a dialog box to "save" or "open" a file, RRMX.bex. When I try to open this file, it says "Invalid File Format".
I tried opening the file in notepad and I see the following parameters passed.
           test
           Data=BX2,CONAJP,EN,mikoyan,17,,,250,
           9
Any clue about what I am doing wrong?
2) Calling via a Transaction
You can generate BEx Analyzer in Portal Content Studio as an SAP Transaction iView.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.app integrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction Code (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
●      The Transaction Code for all workbooks is RRMXP.
●      The ApplicationParameter property contains the value WBID=<WORKBOOK_ID>.
I have tried this approach as well. When I open this iView, I see the RRMXP transaction in the Internet explorer, but the workbooks still does not open in the BEx Analyzer (Excel)
Any thoughts on where am I going wrong ?

'No authorization' error for selection values outside the authorized range

Hi All,
We are currently trying to use the authorization analysis concept for 'Cost center reporting'.
We have made 0COSTCENTER info-object as authorization relevant and have created a analysis authorization object for it through RSECADMIN and we have maintained a single value as '1875' . We have assigned this object to 1 of the test users.
So now if the user runs the report for cost center '1875' , he is able to view the data/report. Now if he enters any other cost center apart from '1875' than he gets an authorization error (Everything works as per requirement till this point).
But now if the user enters multiple cost centers like 1875, 1876, 1877 as multiple single values and runs the report, he gets an 'No authorization error'.
So all the experts, please let me know if it's possible in anyway for the user to see the result/report for the value he is authorized to (in this case - 1875) and should give an information/warning/error message saying that he is not authorized to other cost center (in this case - 1876, 1877).
Same thing is occuring if user enters a range. Suppose a user is authorized for cost center - 1875 to 1880. Now if he puts multiple single values or range in between the authorized range than he can see the result but if he enters even 1 single value outside the range he gets an error - what I mean by this is - if the user enter a range from 1875 to 1801, he does not get any data display but instead he recieves an error message saying 'No authorization' even though he is authorized for all the cost centers in that range except 1801.
I would really appreciate your help regarding this. Any comments/suggestions are very welcome.

That is the way analysis authorizations work!!
If you ask for a number of values i.e. cost centers and you don't have authorization to *all* of them you will get a system error as you say.
There is no way of partially evaluating the query as you suggest (only for the authorized values).
Try to be less restrictive when defining characteristic values in RSECADMIN.
In queries use variables with
Processing by Authorization and Input Ready.
So the system will tell the user which are the allowed values. In your example the system suggests the range 1875-1880.

Error "Parent Member is found in dimension from selection"

while running the export transaction data package we are getting the error " Parent Member is found in Dimension from selection".
We cannot manually select each member as there are around 64K records which will have to manually selected. Is there a work around for the same?

Hi Varun,
The first thing is that if you are using the standard export DM package, then you should not be able to select any parent members. If you look at the advanced script of this package, the first statement will be SELECTINPUT. This will restrict the selection only to base level members. Technically, you should not select the parent members, because, the parent lelve members doesnt hold any data.

Unable to browse OPC Server from the selected machine / Error -2147221163 occurred at GetOPCServerList.vi

I just installed LabVIEW 8.2 DSC-Module and tried to configure a OPC Client Instance. I get the Error "Unable to browse OPC Server from the selected machine / Error -2147221163 occurred at GetOPCServerList.vi". I have no OPC-Server installed, but is there no Demo-Server?

This issue might be related to opcenum not being registered correctly. Please follow the steps explained in this document to fix this problem.
As OPCdemo follows the OPC 1.0 standard it is not supported by the OPC client in LV DSC 8.x which supports OPC 2.0 and 3.0 servers. You can download an OPC 3.0 compliant demoserver from Matrikon.

Authorization error when syncing apps from iphone to mac, mac to iphone

I am having this error with both apps I've synced from my iPhone to my Mac, and one I purchased from ITunes (which as a side problem, I can not sync to my iPhone no matter what I try). I have one iTunes account and it is the same on my computer and on my iPhone. However, the one I bought on my mac I can't authorize on my computer, and I can't sync some back because I get this same error message (I have all the latest software on phone and Mac):
THERE WAS AN ERROR STORING YOUR AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION ON THIS COMPUTER
The required directory was not found or has a permission error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions can not be changed.
Is this just becuase these apps aren't made to USE on a computer? Because that would make sense. I'm just worried it has something to do with the app I purchased on ITunes not syncing back to my iPhone.

I created a new user on my macbook and tried to authorize the computer but got the same authorization error. This doesn't have to do with the fact that I have once used a different iTunes account? (not since I have had the iPhone. I have tried to figure out how to delete this but it looks as if apple doesn't want me to.) Plus, it's the same email as my dot mac which I've ALSO been having trouble with the past few months-- it keeps resetting on its own and my keychain and iphone can't get into it. online chat has not solved the problem so i decided to just let it expire...

Are you sure that the table you are inserting into has no rows initially or that you are counting the rows correctly?

Log SSP and Authorization Errors

I asked for this on the feature request website
"It seems that apex does not log SSP errors or Authorization errors, or if it does, they are no available in an apex view. For example, if a user changes the page number in the url to a page he is not authorized to see, an error page is dispalyed, telling him that he cannot see this page. As far as I can tell, this error is not logged in the apex views. Same goes for, when a user tries to change an id in the url."
My item was closed with the comments
"The error messages are logged into the activity log if activity logging is enabled for your application. Have a look at the column ERROR_MESSAGE in the view APEX_WORKSPACE_ACTIVITY_LOG. "
Well I tested it again.
I went to a page and changed the item_id and I received the checksum violation message.
I then did a select * FROM APEX_WORKSPACE_ACTIVITY_LOG and looked for the error message.
There was no error message.
Can someone else try this

I just have setup another test at apex.oracle.com
workspace: patricks_test
user: guest
pwd: 123456
1) Run application 24683 and login as guest/123456
2) If you click "Customers" you will get the authorization error
3) If you click "Products" and then pick a product to navigate to page 6 and afterwards modify the value of P6_PRODUCT_ID you will get the checksum error
4) In the Builder navigate to Administration -> Monitor Activity -> By Application -> 24683 and you will see the entries of APEX_WORKSPACE_ACTIVITY_LOG
When you did the query on APEX_WORKSPACE_ACTIVITY_LOG, did you verify that your app is writing activity logs at all? And second, have you connected with the parsing user of your application?

When you are using the Internal ITS,you need not run the report W3_PUBLISH_SERVICES.(only SIAC_PUBLISH_ALL_INT )
ALso pls check the foll:
-->activate the services through SICF tcode.
> Go to SICF transaction and activate the whole tree under the node Deafult host>sap>bc>gui>sap>its.
>Also maintain the settings in SE80>utilities>settings>internet transactuon server-->test service/Publish.
Table TWPURLSVR should have entries for the / SRM server line as well as gui and web server.
Could you please review again the following steps ?
Did you check that ICM was working correctly (TA SMICM) ?
1-Activate the necessary ICF services
With transaction SICF and locate the
services by path
/sap/public/bc/its/mimes
/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
2- Publish the IAC Services
With Transaction SE80 locate from
the menu Utilities -> Settings ->
Internet Transaction Server (Tab) ->
Publish (Tab) and set On Selected
Site = INTERNAL.
3- Locate the Internet Services SYSTEM and WEBGUI.
Publish these services with the Context
Menu -> Publish -> Complete Service
4- Browse to http://<server>:<icmport>/sap/bc/gui/
sap/its/webgui/! and login to the
webgui.

The single download means that you won't be able to redownload it from the store without paying, either on a computer's iTunes or an iOS device - it doesn't stop you from copying the audiobook to your other computers or syncing it to your iOS devices, you just can't redownload it. (I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time download.)
You can download audiobooks on your computer's iTunes and sync them to iOS devices, you do not have to buy them directly on the device (if you do then you can copy them back to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the device and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option on your computer's iTunes).
What you are doing to sync them should work i.e.
- connecting the iPad to your Mac
- selecting the iPad on your Mac's iTunes
- selecting its Books tab and selecting the audiobooks that you want to sync to the iPad and syncing/applying that selection.
You should then get an audiobooks option in the Music app on your iPad. If they aren't appearing there then do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music on the device - if you have audiobooks on the iPad then they should be listed there under an 'audiobooks' heading.
By 'restart the iPad' do you mean a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try closing its Music app via the iPad's taskbar : Force an app to close in iOS.
And do a soft-reset and retry syncing.
I assume that music and other items sync ok ?

The error is by this row:

Object is needed! How is the g_oConnection-object defined?
2. How can I pass values for the parameters from VBA?
If I open the query usually from SAP-BEX-Toolbar, after selecting the query, I get a parameter mask, where I must put in a value. How can I this automatize from VBA? Has anybody a short samplecode for that?

What I really want to do is write a stand-alone application that I can run from windows scheduler that queries our BW for sales data for certain items (in a tabular form) and pulls that data into a VB recordset, or a .NET dataset so that I can insert the rows into another database (SQL Server, or Access) I already know how to do all the data movement to/from datasets and databases I just cannot figure out how to programmatically grab this sales data from BW our company has workbooks already set up that aggregate WW sales information by region (IE, there is a separate workbook for each region of the world) I can manually go into the Excel interface, tell it which items to pull the sales info for, and it dumps the data into the worksheet (organized by customer, and then by cat #)
So, what Id like to do is write an app that will pull data every week or so from the BW (from each regions sales invoice detail workbook), and insert it into another database that we use for reporting other, non-sales, data.
Thoughts on this ? Is there another, non-BEx method that is better ?
