BEx Query Execution problem

Hi,
I got a problem when I click Execute button in Query Designer to run a query. It popup a IE windows with a URL like below
http:///irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?QUERY=PM_SALES_ANALYSIS&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X&DUMMY=2
Apparently, the URL is wrong. It seems it try to connect to EP server to run the query. But I donnot have a EP server. What I just want, the query running via BEx web service. The expected URL should be
http://SERVER:PORT/sap/bw/bex?QUERY=PM_SALES_ANALYSIS&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X&DUMMY=1
Some configuration in SAP BI 7 server,
SICF --> test BEx service works fine
RSPOR_T_PORTAL not maintained(No entry)
Environment: Only SAP BI 7 without EP
Is there anybody can help me on this? How can I check and configure to fix this problem? Thanks a lot in advance.
Thanks
Nanshu

Hi Wang,
You could check the setting in SPRO transaction through following path:
in the SAP Reference IMG under SAP NetWeaver -- > Business Intelligence --> Reporting-Relevant Settings --> BEx Web
You can also assign standard web templates to all your queries from here.
Hope this helps.

Vidya

  • BEx web query execution problem

    Dear All,
    While running a BI query through BEx Query Designer, it is generating portal URL as:
    http:///irj/portal/ .....
    instead of standard format
    http://<hostname>:<port number>/...
    For our project, EP is out of scope. So, how can I make this work. (as far I know, /irj/portal points to a enterprise portal link)
    Please correct me where I'm wrong.
    regards, Sean.

    Hi,
    I did include the hostname, which in my case is the solaris zone name. It doesn't work.
    Moreover I am using template installer for BIPost Inst steps. Out of 17, I face error in step 12:

    All other steps completed successfully. After all this work, when we execute query, it simply hangs in contrast to previous URL being generated.
    I guess we are leading somewhere. Could you help me with above error please.

  • How can I reduce BEx Query execution time

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding query execution time in BEx.
    I have a query that takes 45 mins to 1 hour to execute in BEx analyser. This query is run on a daily basis and hence I am keen to reduce the execution time.  Are there any programs or function modules that can help in reducing query execution time?
    Thanks and Regards!

    Hi Sriprakash,
    1.Check if your cube is performance tuned: in the manage cube from RSA1 / performance tab: check if all indexes and statistics are green. Aggregate IDx should as well be.
    2.Condense your cubes regularly
    3. Evaluate the creation of an aggregate with all characteristic used in the query (RSDDV).
    4.Evaluate the creation of a "change run aggregate": based on a standalone NavAttr (without its basic char in the aggr.) but pay attention to the consequent change run when loading master data.
    5. Partition (physically) your cubes systematically when possible (RSDCUBE, menu, partitioning)
    6. Consider logical partitioning (by year or comp_code or ...) and make use of multiproviders in order to keep targets not too big...
    7.Consider creating secondary indexes when reporting on ODS (RSDODS)
    8.Check if the query runtime is due the master data read or the infoprovider itself, or the OLAP processor and/or any other cause in tx ST03N
    9.Consider improving your master reads by creating customized IDX (BITMAP if possible and depending on your data) on master data table and/or attribute SIDs when using NAvs.
    10.Check that your basis team did a good job and have applied the proper DB parameters
    11.Last but not least: fine tune your datamodel precisely.
    hope this will give you an idea.
    Cheers
    Sunil

    Dear all
    I have a query which I want to execute in BI portal. For this , I opened up BEx Query Designer and from there pressed the "Execute" button which opened the login screen in my browser.  I successfully logged in and provided inputs for the query.
    Then I got an error message saying
    >Characteristic Product Model has no master data for "XXXXXXXX" or you do not have authorization
    But the strange thing is that, when I run the same query from BEx Analyzer with the same selection input , it is working absolutely fine.
    Can any one please suggest me to way to investigate on this issue?

  • BI BEX Query execution from ABAP into a File w/ Text

    We are currently running BI 2004s and have a requirement from a user to load a file (preferably excel but a csv or txt file would also work) on a server with the results of a BEX Query and they need the format to look exactly like the Bex results including the columns for the char. text that are specified in the Bex query properties.  If we could run this ABAP program in background and foreground - that would be a big plus.
    I have searched and reviewed many of the FM, programs and transactions in this forum to do something like this but the text is always missing.
    Any suggestions (the simpler the better) would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    SJ

    Sudheer,
    Yes, I did try RSCRM_BAPI.  It looks very promising but the text is not there.  Example - Business area 9160 shows up but the text for it "SAFLEX" does not and this text does show up in BEx.

  • BEx query change problem

    Hi there,
    In QA, when I try to open the local view or global view of a query in BEx, I am getting the following error/message
    "The following objects were not found when accessing the server.."
    -Press Repair to correct the problem(incorrect parts of the query are automatically deleted)
    If anyone has faced the issue kindly let me know.
    Thank You
    Ace

    Hi Ace,
    Welcome to SDN!
    It seems the objects mentioned in the message were not available in the dataprovider on which the query is based, hence the query designer is trying to correct this (which is a default behavior of the query designer).
    This can happen if you had those objects in the datatarget initially and both the datatarget/query were transported into QA initially, and subsequently any of those objects may have been removed from the datatarget definition, and when the latest objects are moved to QA, by default query designer detects it and prompts you for the correction.
    So, after validating the fact that those missing objects were removed for valid reasons from the corresponding datatarget definition, click on repair and you should be able to continue further.
    Hope it helps,
    Sree

  • QUERY EXECUTION PROBLEM

    One query is executing very fast in database1 and the same query takes time
    to execute in database2.
    in database1 optimizer_mode=rule and in database2 optimizer_mode=all_rows
    How i can make the execution of the query very fast in database2.
    DATABASE1 VERSION:9.2.0.6.0
    DATABASE2 VERSION:10.1.0.2.0
    Thankx...

    Hi,
    Compare two databases performance is hard, compare two database in different version is hardest.
    1. Are the data same ?
    2. Are the database on same server ?
    3. Are the oracle statistics up-to-date ?
    4. What is the query ?
    5. What are the indexes ?
    6. What is the explain plan ?
    7. Unfortunately, tere is no new feature in 10g like query_fast... there is no magic parameter, so you need to work and show and explain us a little bit more about your config, your test...

  • BEx Query Designer problem when generate URL to IE

    Hello everyone,
    When I click the "Execute" button to run a query in Query Designer , it pop-up a IE windows with URL:
    http:///irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?QUERY=ZSALESREP01&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X&DUMMY=1
    And IE display that "The address is not valid".
    I think the reason is  that there are some configuration not do.
    Could any guys tell me what configuration should be done ?
    Thank you!
    BR,
    Louis

    Hi,
    I think the Bex service is not confirgured correctly in your system.
    For the WEB functionality to work corectly in your BW system there are several configurations that should be done. They are the Host name, listening ports, Protocols and the ICF service should be maintained & activated. The transactions involved are SMICM and SICF where you can check for these settings...
    Refer to the hot to document on SDN:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/994a06ed-0c01-0010-878b-e796a9060209
    Which gives the complete step by step instructions. check these settings in your system and contact your basis or portal team to configure them correctly.

  • System.DirectoryServices.Protocols.SearchRequest Ldap Query Execution Problem

    Hi,
         I am using DirectorySearcher class to query the active directory. It gives all the records in a single page (more than 5000). I want to get 100 records per page. So I moved to SearchRequest class. Using SearchRequest class I can
    get 100 records per page. But for particular query it is not working. I want to get all the users with their
    "samaccountname or displayname starts with 'a'" works fine. Then I want to get all the users with their
    "samaccountname and displayname starts with 'a'", this it is not working. I can guess the reason, some of the users starts their samaccountname with a not having any displayname. Any workaround for this issue? Please guide me
    Please refer the following code
    //This query works fine
    //string filter = "(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(!sAMAccountType=805306370)(|(samaccountname=a*)(displayname=a*)))";
    /* Not works */
    string filter = "(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(!sAMAccountType=805306370)(&(samaccountname=a*)(displayname=a*)))";
    LdapConnection connection = new LdapConnection(serverName);
    string[] attribs = { "samaccountname", "displayname" };
    // create a SearchRequest object
    SearchRequest searchRequest = new SearchRequest
    (scope,
    filter,
    System.DirectoryServices.Protocols.SearchScope.Subtree,
    attribs);
    SortRequestControl sortRequest = new SortRequestControl("samaccountname", false);
    searchRequest.Controls.Add(sortRequest);
    VlvRequestControl vlvRequest =
    new VlvRequestControl(0, numEntries, offsetVal);
    searchRequest.Controls.Add(vlvRequest);
    SearchResponse searchResponse =
    (SearchResponse)connection.SendRequest(searchRequest);
    if (searchResponse.Controls.Length != 2 ||
    !(searchResponse.Controls[0] is SortResponseControl))
    Console.WriteLine("The server does not support VLV");
    return null;

    Your exception condition
                if
    (searchResponse.Controls.Length
    != 2 ||
    !(searchResponse.Controls[0]
    is SortResponseControl))
    Console.WriteLine("The server does not support VLV");
    return null;
    is not correct. Why (?) - if you get back no hits from your query there will be no SortResponseControl because there was nothing to sort. Since your query filter has proved that there were no objects with sAMAccountName & displayName equals
    a* in your AD you will not get back a SortResponseControl.
    A better approach would be to check the DirectoryControls on the SearchResponse for the existance of a VlvResponseControl - like this:
           if (GetControl(sresponse.Controls, new VlvRequestControl().Type) == null)
           { Console.WriteLine("The server does not support VLV"); }
            protected DirectoryControl GetControl(DirectoryControl[] controls, string OID)
                DirectoryControl dcret = null;
                try
                { dcret = controls.ToList().Where(d => d.Type == OID).FirstOrDefault(); }
                catch (Exception ex)
                { ex.ToDummy(); } // *see below
                return dcret;
    * Just for completeness and to explain the ex.ToDummy() thing - it's a custom extension:
        public static class ExtensionMethods
            public static void ToDummy(this Exception ex)
    By itself there's nothing wrong with the filter - it's just unecessarly complicated - just write:
    "(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(!sAMAccountType=805306370)(samaccountname=a*)(displayname=a*))"
    Another thing that could be of some interest for you:
    The filter "(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(!sAMAccountType=805306370)(samaccountname=a*)(displayname=a*))" uses displayName as index.
    "(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(!sAMAccountType=805306370)(|(samaccountname=a*)(displayname=a*)))"; get's translated from the QueryOptimizer on the DC to  ( |  ( &  (objectCategory=CN=Person,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=mfp-labs,DC=labsetup,DC=org)
    (objectClass=user) ( !  (sAMAccountType=805306370) )  (displayName=a*) )  ( &  (objectCategory=CN=Person,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=mfp-labs,DC=labsetup,DC=org)  (objectClass=user) ( !  (sAMAccountType=805306370) )
    (sAMAccountName=a*) ) )  and uses sAMAccountName and displayname as index for the search
    @Richard M. : sAMAccountType=805306370 (0x30000002) translates to SAM_TRUST_ACCOUNT - so I guess your AD doesn't have any trusts established .-)

  • Bex Query output problem

    Hi Experts,
      Plz go through the fallowing scenerio and answer the question.
      For a customer opprtunity should be within the scheduled 18 months of time period.That means if RFP(Request for propasal) is on
    particular date and the scheduled award date is on particular date.If the scheduled award date is not fallowing in the 18 months time span then that award date need to be considered for report generation.
      Here we are getting  both RFP and award dates  from CRM systems.
    How can we calculate the 18 months irrespective of the begining months.?

    Hi,
    Take Both Dates in to Report.
    Create 2 Formula varible on Respectively on Both Dates.
    Create A formula .And use the above 2 Formula variables in the Formula like : FarVAR1 -FARVAR2.
    Create a condition on the formula to hide rows which does not give Formula = 18*30.
    Other option is
    USe a KF in cube itself and USe a Formula to get difference between dates.

  • Error while executing BEx Query on Composite Provider

    Hi,
    We have a BW on-HANA system, patch level SAPKW73105.
    We have created a Composite provider based on the union of two DSOs, two infoobjects, one SPO, and there are a couple of joins with two other DSOs, on the top of that we built a BEx query.
    While executing the BEx query, sometimes (depending on the filter values), We got the following error message
    "Attribute engine failed;Error executing physical plan: exception 6900: AttributeEngine/Parallel/DimensionFilter.cpp engine failed; $function$=getValidFemsPA;"
    "Error 6,900 has occurred in the BWA/SAP HANA server"
    "Error reading the data of InfoProvider @3ZSDRPCP5"
    "Error while reading data; navigation is possible"
    "Row: 59 Inc: MAP_TREX_EXCEPTION Prog: CL_RSDRH_TREX_STORAGE"
    (Attached error message)
    Ii We browse the composite provider data using the "display data" option in the RSA1, data is displayed without issue, the problem only appears during the BEx query execution and only with some filter vaues.
    Any idea on how to fix the issue.
    Thanks,
    Federico

    He's on 7.3 EhP1, which is on SPS12 today. It got pretty stable by SP08, SP09. SP05 was pretty early on, and had a lot of bugs in the HANA views.
    7.4 is on SP07 like you say, and most of our customers run at least SP06 - before then, you had to apply a bucketload of SAP notes. I would recommend customers apply SP08 with care because it's a feature release so will have a bunch of new features, which will no doubt need corrections.
