Blackberry curve screen wont switch on unless pressure is applied to the back of the phone

My phone screen is intermitantly working, it appears that when I take the battery out to restart it the screen will only switch on when the back case is in a certain position and pressure is applied.  i have tried several times to get the phone working but i have been having the same problem since yesterday that the screen only comes on when pressure is applied to the top section of the back of the phone.  does anyone know what is wrong with it or how it can be repaired? thanks

    Hi xa4,
    Welcome to the Support Community!
Since your BlackBerry® smartphone is unable to power on, the BlackBerry® Desktop Software will be unable to connect with your BlackBerry® smartphone. I would advise trying to force a connection by starting a BlackBerry® Device Software reload without your battery inserted. For further steps, please see the following KB articles:
For Windows® : "How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader" http://bbry.lv/IAfXWd
For Mac: "Unable to application load a BlackBerry smartphone showing JVM 507 or JVM 513 using BlackBerry Desktop Software" http://bbry.lv/J0V8BH
Please note that this process will remove all data from your BlackBerry® smartphone.
    Hope this helps.

    Hey hakmilton,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
I would suggest contacting your network service provider to look at possible repair and exchange options.  Since you tried a new battery and the LED won't come on, we can not even try reloading the device software.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

Do I have to back up the data of my macbook white unibody if I am changing the screen because of the crack problem at the the back of the screen?
They told me to bring it to the genius at the apple store. They will change it for free but I don't have any physical place to back up my computer, they said it will take a coupe of days. I am not really sure if I have to back it up.
    Thank you.

I can't live without my phone for any longer! ox

  • Screen wont turn on unless its under light.

my screen for my LG G2 wont turn on unless it is under light or in a very lit up room. HELP!!

    Hey
I’m sorry to hear that your device screen is not turning on! I’d be happy to help! It sounds like there may be an issue with the proximity sensor. Is the device currently in a case or does it have anything on the exterior which may be blocking this sensor? Additionally, did this start after installing any new apps at all? Check if this is happening in Safe Mode by following these steps:
Press and hold the Power key.
    Touch and hold Power off.
Review the 'Reboot to safe mode' screen, and then tap OK.
The device will restart and 'Safe mode' appears in the lower-left corner.
Restart the device to exit Safe Mode.
    I hope this helps!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry curve screen jumping about

Hi I have a blackberry curve 8520 and sometimes the middle key won't move and sometimes when it does its like its got a mind of its own the curser moves itself what causes this? IV tried taking the battery out several times
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hmmm...I don't own your device, so I'm still not sure what that key is..."middle cursor button"...hmmm...do you mean the Trackpad?
Anyway, there's pretty much no diagnosing those Uncaught Exceptions -- they are the equivalent of the random errors in Windows for which tracing the root cause is fruitless. Basically, these are the last out in the programming code -- some event occurred for which there is no handler in the code. The fix is a code update that handles the event...but, again, knowing what the event is is pretty much impossible. So, there are a few things to try:
Sometimes, the code simply becomes corrupt and needs to be refreshed -- just like a reboot:
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If it won't boot up cleanly, then you may need to try Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in safe mode
There might be an updated code set from the carrier -- check them via this portal:
     http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
The toughest possible cause is a badly behaving app. To find it, there are a couple of options. One is to see if you can read the log file:
Go to the home screen. Hold down the "alt" key and type 'lglg'. (You will not see anything while you type). This will bring up the log file. Scroll down (probably many pages) untill you see a line that says 'uncaught execption'. Click on this line. The name of the app will be in the info. Alternative methods for bringing up the logs are in this KB:
KB05349How to enable, access, and extract the event logs on a BlackBerry smartphone
The other method is to remove apps one at a time, waiting a while in between (I usually recommend a week), until the problem ceases...thereby discovering the offending app. Still another method is to reload the BB OS cleanly, leaving some time between adding other apps onto the BB so as to be able to determine exactly which one is the cause.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry curve 8530 wont accept password

I have had a blackberry curve 8530 since march and it is now july! Everything has worked until now when i tried to install the desktop manager and it wouldnt accept my password. I tried 10 times and now it says "last attempt" and i don't want my phone to reset everything! Pleas help me!!!! I don't know what to do!!! (P.s i haven't backed up my phone!)

    Hi 85curve30,
If you have any numbers in your device password and don't hold in the Alt key when entering them on the device, try entering the corresponding letters on those keys on the PC when it asks for the password for your connection to the Desktop Software.

  • MY blackberry curve 8520 wont work ) :

    Hi.
I found an issue with my blackberry 8520 a day ago.
I texted my friend, Before going to sleep The letter key " A " was working perfectly fine.
I woke up the next morning, and i went to put my phone on charge because it was on 11%
When i came back, a friend had left me a message so i was going to reply him. I was going to reply  "ya"
and i was stuck with " Y " i couldn't type A at all. With this, my phone would auto lock itself, and i had to press any key till any box would prompt and allow me to continue. I couldn't answer any calls as well. So i did a restart and i couldn't switch back my phone! I then took off the battery and tried it again Nothing helped after that reboot. I have got no idea how i should fix this.

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath, gym locker, sweaty face or pocket can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
    Does this sound likely?
It really is more common than you think.
    1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
    3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
    4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

  • Blackberry curve 8330 wont charge

When i am charging my blackberry curve 8330, it doesn't charge. It has a green light that is flashing !! Can anyone help me with this problem. I just got it today !! It turned on for a good 5 minutes but than died !! HELPPPP ??????

    Hi aeroyang12
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
If green light is flashing , then it might be possible that your battery has completely drained out .So please connect it with a good wall charger it let it charge for a few hours, Don't try to turn on your device again and again. After a few hours say 2 hrs while it is connected to the charger remove the battery from the back of your device and then re-insert it back , you can do this sequence every 2 hrs to see if that helps .
Try it or if you can manage a good fully charged battery try that on your device to see if your device boots up.
