  • Blackberry Passport Screen lift

Hi,   I have the same problem like many other users - the screen from my Blackberry passport lifts on the upper corner. see http://news.softpedia.com/news/Screen-Coming-Off-on-Some-BlackBerry-Passports-Q10s-474668.shtml with the link to an example user http://www.reddit.com/r/blackberry/comments/2xm5vw/screen_coming_off_of_blackberry_passport_to_whom/ with example picture http://i.imgur.com/JTAzteE.jpg   So my question is - is this issue officially covered by warranty ? My problem is, that my retailer is not accepting the phone, because the screen lifts - he tolds me also, that the service center / manufacturer is not accepting phones with lifted screens under warranty here in swizerland. Is there any official statement from Blackberry available ? So is this covered by warranty or not ? Many thanks Mirogl

You really need to force the seller to put you directly in touch with BlackBerry.
    Otherwise, here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/programs/technical/incident.html#tab-1
It will cost you $49USD, but perhaps they will refund that if it is determined warranty replacement.

  • Blackberry Passport screen unattached

    Hi Dear Blackberry,
recently i saw an issue in ur passport product, not a software issue or hardware, but a quality issue that i did not expect by high-end smartphone like blackberry passport. This fact disappointed me 'cause i'm blackberry user since 10 years old, and first person in my city that explain blackberry potentials.
the screen has been unattached! http://imageshack.com/a/img538/7160/WKLCIi.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img673/7704/GdmTYn.jpg I send message to ur support on twitter but they told me to contact my shop where i bought, i never used warranty for this errors, 'cause i'm a technician and i know repair it.
I'm disappointed by ur quality, i did not expected by blackberry-RIM.
I hope you can upgrade your models and make better but this errors cannot do.
People like me that use his blackberry smartphone to confront with iphone or others brand don't accept this. my regard,
    Vincenzo.

yes i solved using loctite xD, but you can use special glue for smartphone glasses.

  • BlackBerry Passport won't get past 100%

    Hello,
Yesterday I tried opening an e-mail on my BlackBerry Passport - the screen faded to a darker colour (as if it was going to open it), then returned to the hub. I tried to open it again and the same thing happened.
I refreshed the hub by swiping 5 times from the top right to the centre of the phone - I was still unable to open the e-mail, or any other e-mails I had read in the past.
I then restarted my phone, however when it was rebooting, here's what happens:
    It displays the BlackBerry logo
It shows the 'loading' screen (BB logo and the square loading bar around the logo)
It gets to 100%, and that's it... nothing further happens
Occasionally, it automatically restarts the cycle, displays the logo and then begins loading to 100% again. It stays on 100% for hours, the phone gets extremely hot then this morning the battery had died on it.
I plugged in the charger, then minutes later the cycle started again.
I have tried powering off & on, holding both of the volume buttons and loads of other combinations, but the same issue persists. Interestingly, the phone doesn't seem able to actually fully power off. If I hold the power button down for 10 seconds, the screen goes black, a red light shows for around 2-3 seconds, and the restart process begins again. This happens regardless of how I shut the device down.
Ordinarilly I'd take the battery out of my Q10 if something like this happened and put it back in - obviously this isn't an option with the Passport.
Is there anything I can do? I tried to wipe it from Link, but it doesn't recognize the device is plugged in via USB.
This is literally 2 weeks old and I'm extremely frustrated that this is happening to such a new and 'necessary' device.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

Yea, I would be frustrated also.
    1. You can return the device for a warranty replacement.
    2. Try connecting to Link via a different USB port on your PC, or use a different PC with Link installed.
You might try also making the connection to Link while the device is rebooting.
I agree, a new device shouldn't have these issues.

  • Blackberry Passport sim tray issue is prevalent and they will not fix it for you because it is your fault. Ridiculous.

I bought my Blackberry passport on Feb 13rd. Right out of the box the sim tray didn't read the sim. I thought it is my sim's problem, so I waited for another sim. New sim came in, still didn't read. After a long call with customer support and BB virtual support, I had my device sent in around mid March. They checked it and said I damaged the sim tray and I need to pay 268$ to have it fixed. I though it is ridiculous since I haven't done anything to the phone. So I argued with them and eventually they agreed to have my fixed without cost.
However when they sent me back the device, I poped in the sim and it only works for 1 day, on and off the second day and then not reading the sim at all after that. I think the sim tray's problem with the passport is prevalent and the pin can be broken by the simple act of poping in the sim card. My ATT sim is working perfectly fine on the 5s and my brother's iphone 6.
After 2 days of receiving the "repaired" device, I call them again and this time they said it is certainly my fault and if I send it in again, I will have to pay 268$ to have it fixed.
So I thought for people out ther if you have a passport, don't pop in and out the sim card. It can really easily be broken.
For me, I think now I just gonna use my "broken sim tray new passport" as a reading device. After 10 years, I will officially switch to other brand. Still love the keyboard though, but anyway.

Check that your sim card does not have a burr or edge on it before you insert it, as that may be what's damaging the SIM pins.
Site anly allow linlks to web images, so here's what the tray is supposed to look like - with the SIM cover on.
FWIW - a T3 torx driver is required to remove the screws around the SIM  and TF card tray cover. That would allow you to look at the underlying pins - and possibly - with a bit of luck, fix them on your own.

  • Blackberry white screen! HELP FIX IT FOR ME?

Basically my blackberry curve 8520 screen turns white every now and then, does this about several times, and is winding me up.The top of my blackberry has been took off completely, that may be the problem but I'm not sure, perhaps it's the screen, I still ain't sure. I've had it for more than 2 years now and it's never been like this.
To get it working though... I take the battery out then put it back in then it works, also it'll last for a while if I keep it on charge.
    WHITE SCREEN IS ANNOYING.
Any support will be grateful, thanks.

My blackberry curve 8530 shut off and now it doesn't want to completely turn on it stays loading.

    Hello !
    Try the following.
Just pull out the battery and reinsert it again for the POWER restart.
Once it reaches to the loading screen, just connect your device to the charger and keep it idol for 2-3hours.
At times BlackBerry Curve 8520 takes longer time then the usual for rebooting.
    Hope this resolves your Problem!

    Hello Jo-anneR,
    Welcome to the forums.
In this case we can try to reload the software on the BlackBerry® smartphone to make sure it is running the latest version and there are no issues with the OS.
Here is how to backup your BlackBerry smartphone http://bbry.lv/oPVWXc
Once you have backed up your BlackBerry smartphone please follow the link below to complete a clean reload of the BlackBerry smartphone software.
    Link: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB03621
Once completed test it and proceed with a selective restore, here is how to restore http://bbry.lv/qgQxLo
If this does not correct the issue then it would appear to be a hardware issue and you will want to contact your point of sale for options.
    Have a good day.

  • How-to: text lift off page (ala: ESPN 30 for 30 - Straight Outta LA effect)

    Hello,
I am looking to do an effect that I saw on 30 For 30 - Straight Outta L.A. an Ice Cube Documentary. In it, a newspaper moves onto the screen and then the text from the paper appears to lift off the page.
Does anyone know of a good tutorial. Some years ago, in the first version of Motion, I did a "Kid Stays In The Picture" effect with still photos, which is a similar concept, but I have forgotten exactly what I did and I am still working my way through the new interface in Motion 4.
    Thanks.

  • Auto screen on off

I listen to music in my car when im driving. i have a hands free holder. but the screen turns off after 5 mins. Is there anyway to change the settings so the screen stays on when plugged into a power source? also I have a docking station and there is a few cool apps I would like to have on and not turn off after 5 mins. There has to be a way to change the settings. Antone know.

Use another app running which keeps the screen backlight on.
Check AppWorld, I am not sure which app there is, but I feel certain there are those that do this. I know there's a settings in some GPS mapping apps, and in BatteryGuru.

  • If your BlackBerry Torch Screen Goes Black --- Read this!

Recently, my BlackBerry Torch screen went black. The phone was still active, but I couldn't see anything on the screen. Opening and closing the screen slowly, pulling the battery, or standing on my head and begging the phone to work didn't enable the screen.
After a lot of searches, I finally realized my screen was not going to come back on and that this is a rampant problem. I've since made the leap to an iPhone 4s. I still had many photos and videos of my children on my BB; including custom ring tones my son made for my contacts. In short, information I wanted. This was an Enterprise activated BB that was protected by a password. Inspite of this, I was able to get everything off the phone very simply.
I downloaded and installed the BlackBerry Desktop Manager (mentioned in some of the posts). I was able to connect my device. The software provided the password challenge via my PC and I was able to log into the phone. I then used Windows Explorer to search every folder and remove all the photos, videos, and ring tones I wanted. The only thing I didn't salvage were my texts; not a big loss.
In summary, if your screen goes black, contact your provider for a replacement. While you are waiting for a replacement, install BlackBerry Desktop Manager and get all your personal information off. And above all, DON'T PANIC! There is hope

    Good points, stressed here daily.
    And:
Install AND use BlackBerry Protect, for seamless over the air backups
Backup at least weekly, using the BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • Blackberry Passport drop test

As you know there is a few videos of Blackberry Passport extrreme drop tests on youtube. Where the phone didn't get any damage.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDK-RBcnmqU
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYraDeOSt1s
So the question is: is it OK to drop the Blackberry Passport face down to show it's durrability  to your friends, and the phone always be just fine?
Or this drop test videos is just a good luck and not a mandatory future of the phone?
Is the any experience, tests or suggestions?

Thank you! So I can see that 4ft face drop is pretty safe. If I'll find few more cases then will experiment with mine.
Obiviously the more hight, the more probability of damage. But it would be intersting to know what maximum hight is safe for 99% of Blackberry Passports to drop face down.
P.S. As I found on other forums, some have damaged the glass when droped on the corner, not on the face...
Corner drops of many phones will break the screen.
I would not consider any drop safe as it could bounce and land on a corner after.
But this does have Gorilla Glass and is tougher than regular glass.
You will void warranty if you drop it.
