Block 3rd party updates

hello,
We provide the latest company approved products via SCCM Software Center. Products like Adobe, JAVA etc are included however they send far to many updates for us to change SCCM for ever minor release, additionally our users do not have admin rights so they
cannot install the updates the 3rd party is constantly prompting them for.
So I guess I'd like to find a ways to block those update prompts or find a way to allows just those approved products install by non admin users or anything you think might be better solution :-)

> So I guess I'd like to find a ways to block those update prompts or find
You need to identify the related registry values or startup services and
background processes that disable auto-updates - for each product. Then
deploy settings accordingly...

  • SCUP2011 - SCCM2012 SP1 CU4: 3rd party updates fail to install with SoftDistHashMismatchEvent

We publish 3rd party updates like Adobe Flash, Shockwave, Firefox with SCUP 2011 into WSUS.
These 3rd party updates are imported/synchronized into our SCCM 2012 SP1 (CU4) environment and deployed to the clients/servers.
But all of these 3rd party fail to install. Software Center returns the following error: The software change returned error code 0x80091007(-2146889721).
The standard Microsoft Updates are downloaded and installed without any error.
The 3rd party updates are downloaded by the client, but are deleted after checking the hash because of a hash mismatch (SoftDistHashMismatchEvent).

The strange thing is that 3rd party updates are downloaded/installed succesfully when using the Windows Update Control Panel applet, while WSUS and SCCM2012 are installed on the same server!
Our environment uses PKI only for communication/authentication, because we manage multiple untrusted networks
All servers are virtual servers (VMWare ESXi 5.5) with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 + latest updates.
I already performed the following trouble-shooting tasks without any success:
    - I reinstalled the different Site System Roles.
    - Removed the SCCM client from the SCCM database and client and reinstalled
    - Removed the anti-virus software
    - Redeployed the 3rd party updates
    - Replaced the E1000 NICs with VMXNET3 (server and client)
    - Ensured no proxy between server and client
    - Downloading and installing the 3rd party updates manually from the specified download locations
      (e.g.
    http://sccm.mydomain.local:8530/Content/32/04B9361CDC426D2DBC94B90A7BB0172CAE84D532.cab or
    http://sccm.mydomain.nl/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/fea1aeb3-af1a-45aa-b464-4f90422b4720) succeeds without a error.
    I really don't know what's going wrong.
    Is it a bug?

  • Safari-preferences-Extensions-added AdBlock 2.5.65 by Michael Gundlach - blocks 3rd party ads, etc. Want to make sure it's legit

ClamXav and CleanMyMac are not Safari Extensions, so I assume you found them somewhere else, such as the AppStore?
Should I delete any references to those two items?
Delete from where? Did you download them?
I agree that you don't need CleanMyMac as it can do more harm than good and the OS does a good job of maintaining itself without third party help. When something is needed, it can usually be done with freeware.
As to ClamXav, you may or may not need it, depending on your computer habits.  If you keep your OS and apps fully up-to-date and heed all the warnings you should be OK. If you routinely exchange files with PC users, then it would be good to use something as a favor to them.

  • Credit Blocked 3rd Party Sales Order confirm quantity change discrepancy

    Hi,
I am facing the below 3rd party SO qty change issue. Please check and advise me.
    Step 1:
Created one 3rd Party SO for item A - 10 qty.
    Step 2:
PO is created with reference of PR number (item A- 10 qty).
    Setp 3:
Again I am changing the SO item A qty from 10 to 20 (i.e. SO value is increased).
Due Sales order value increase the credit check performed and due to customer credit
limit the system shown Static Credit Block message (SO  blocked for Credit approval).
    Setp 4:
I have saved the SO with the Credit Block message (still SO Credit Blocked).
    Issue :
I have not released the Credit block in SO, Even the system has updated the SO confirmation qty as 20
and subsequent PR and PO also changed from 10 to 20 qty.
    Regards
    Baskar

See, the Credit Management System is designed to work in the SD side & not on the MM side.
Once PR is created, it is updated every time Tird party Sales Order changed which is basic requirement.
Once PR is created / updated, system (Credit Management) cannot the creation of PO & subsequent documents. This is becaus Credit Management is desinged to block creation of Sales Order, Delivery Document & PGI & nothing more.
That is why I suggested you to go to Z-Development & apply a User Exit.
    Hope this clarifies.

  • How to setup Server 2008-2012 R2 to auto-install 3rd party updates

I've been searching for about a month now on an easy way to install third party software updates  for individual workstations using the company's server.
We have two, one is a 2008 server and the other is 2012 R2.
Is there any way I can set it up to where the updates will auto install without prompts or effecting productivity?

    Hi Rick
there is no way you can set this up using existing built-in tools inside windows server. You would need to setup your existing infrastructure using some 3rd party tools.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Is blocking 3rd party cookies preventing some icons on sites' menus from showing?

I've noticed a problem in last several Fx versions where certain sites' menus & internal links - don't show icon images (for some).
Like menus on a credit card site, once logged in. Or certain webmail menu icons.
Or HP's community forum - the text editor (to add a question) menu icons - once logged in. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/custom/pa ... .hp.com%2F
It's relatively few sites - but some are important. I also noticed that any icons / images that are a problem in Fx, display in IE 9, though IE settings show 3rd party cookies blocked.
Tried a <u>new, clean</u> profile w/ the Fx install I was using (35.0.1). All the icon images (on sites that previously had problems) seemed to display, as long as "Accept Cookies from site" was checked & 3rd party cookies were allowed.
In the clean profile, disabling 3rd party cookies seemed to cause some icons not to show. But in IE, 3rd party cookies are "supposedly" blocked, & the icons display in it.
Obviously, the problem isn't addons - problem can be <u>reproduced</u> in clean profile.
Also tried a clean Fx install in another folder. Same results as above - as with my old Fx install & a clean profile.

    No.
Missing icons are usually supplied by a font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) as you might see by little boxes that show the hex code of the characters instead.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can check the <b>gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value).
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • CC 3rd party updates

As I understand it updates for the new CC programs will happen on a rolling basis rather than a major program release, how will third party add-on suppliers cope with this. At the moment when a major release happens there is a delay before companies like Blackmagic produce their drivers, will this delay happen every month when a new Premiere sub upgrade happen? How will we know if an update will affect our system, will we be able to roll back the update if we find our screens go blank?

These are very good questions that I feel sure
have third-party developers scratching their heads.

  • SCCM 2012 Software Updates not installing (bothh Windows patches & 3rd party updates)

Using SCCM 2012 R2, I am having a problem getting Windows updates to install.  Applications published to people work, and basic software installations published to machines for a straight install work.  However, both Windows patches and Adobe patches
fail to install on clients. I have imported the Adobe catalog into SCUP, and publish through WSUS. I can see the Adobe patches and Windows patches in SCCM, and can publish them. However, in deployment status out of 4 machines in my test group the Windows patches
installed on 1 and the other 3 are still in Unknown status with category of "Client check passed/Active". However, none of them are installing the patch - they don't even seem to try.  All of those are Windows 7 PCs, incidentally. On Adobe patches,
one PC fails and the other 3 machines still sit in Unknown status.  Certificates are distributed,
Any ideas what might cause the deployment to not push some targets, even when it's past the deadline?
    Thanks,
    Andy Maslin

An unknown status means that the clients are not reporting back to ConfigMgr correctly. This is often due to the WUA not pointing at the correct WSUS instance. You can verify this by examining the WUAHandler.log on one of those clients and it will clearly
indicate an issue with this which in turn is often due to a group policy overriding the ConfigMgr behavior.

  • Re-editing profile to put my defaults back after a 3rd party update

updated to newer version of DAP download accelerator and the butts at IOBIT edited my profile to carry their pages at homepage and new tabs display whenever i restart firefox 4. how do i put things back (homepage defaulting to my email and tabs defaulting to blank pages) AND is there a way to stop this childish behavior (because they seem to have an update every 6 weeks or so)? also, is there a adequate substitute for DAP, that has more respect for it's users and doesn't treat free software as permission to hack!?

You may not like my response however I will respond assuming the worst case scenario and that is that you have lost everything that you installed on your iPod and the backup is unusable.
    APPS:
You can get these back simply downloading them again. You will not be charged to download them again as long as you are using the same account to download them which you used when you first purchased them.
    _CD MUSIC_:
I am hoping that your iTunes library is intact and that your iPod's content were backed up properly in iTunes. If that is the case then you simply sync and all your music/videos will be installed on your iPod Touch. If that is not the case then you will need to re-install all your music again.
    _PURCHASED MUSIC from iTunes Store_:
If you do not have a back up of these either in iTunes then obviously you cannot sync. If that is the case then you cannot download this music again without paying for it again. You can attempt to call the iTunes Store customer case and state your case. See if they can allow you to download your music again. Keep your purchase history handy from the iTunes Store.

  • Safari blocks 3rd party by default, any other way to help pre-populate forms?

I've got some webforms on a site I'd like to pre-populate with basic information, name, email, company, title, etc so the user can use a single click to download assets. I'd then like my form to populate that on subsequent pages the user visits with same form. The goal is to have the best and most convenient visitor experience for first time and returning users. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get Safari to play nicer? Supposedly first party cookies is in open beta but wanted to pose the question here before going down another rabbit hole. Thanks in advance for your responses.
