Bogus Cisco AVPair

friends,
I have a particular requirement that i want to pass an AVpair to the ASR 9K BRAS. So that my billing server which is sniffing radius packets can take particular actions based on those Bogus AVPair.   BRAS should just ignore or take no action on them.
can someone suggest what can i do here??   Value will be of type integer.

Hi Asad,
Class Attirubte (25) is perfect for this.
It serves no purpose in terms of features, but the attriubte send in access accept is reflected in all the accounting records,
which might help linking them all together.
It is not an integer but a string attribute, but you can of course fill it with an int like value (but will be put as the ascii binary
in the traces obviosuly, so you need to do some type casting)
cheers

  • Cisco AVpair

    Hi,
    I want to authenticate my pppoe clients using a radius server. PPPOE client sending a username and password as well as a Service Name (which is detected in Router debug as Service Tag <service name>. I want to send this Service Name (Service Tag) as a Cisco AVPair attribute to my radius server. Can anyone help me to sort out this...
    I ve configured aaa authorization network defalut group radius;
    radius-attribute vsa send authentication;
    radius-attribute vsa send accounting.

    The Preauthentication Enhancements for Callback feature allows users to dial in to the network access server (NAS) without being charged. This feature enables telecommuters, and other remote network users who dial in, to have the charges applied back to the NAS that they are dialing in to.
    When callback is required, the NAS hangs up the current call and dials the caller back. When the NAS performs the callback, only information for the outgoing connection is applied. The rest of the attributes from the preauthentication access-accept message are discarded.

  • How to handle Cisco AVPair Attributes

    Hello,
    i have a little Problem, so I hope you can help me.
    I have an external Radius Server and an ASA5520 which submits the IP-address and the address of the DNA-Server to the registering client (with cisco-avpair = ip:addr=x.y.z.w)
    How can I submit the corresponding network mask also (ip:netmask= ?)?
    Best Regards
    Hartmut B.

    Hi
    This depend on which Radius server you're using. If its ACS then.... ACS will send the cisco-av-pair automagically if
    1) the aaa client is defined as Cisco IOS
    2) you use the ip assignment setting at group/user level
    Unfortunately it wont send a netmask as well. So in the group page just scroll down until you see the "RADIUS Cisco IOS" section then locate the cisco-av-pair and just enter
    "ip:netmask=foobar"
    right in the text entry box.
    Then submit + restart and it should all work.

  • Using Cisco-AVpair to collect accouting

    Dear all,
    I want to use Cisco-AVpair from ACS radius to get the modem connection time (time-start like TACACS+).
    Could you help me how to do that.
    Thanks

    The following document has more information on RADIUS Attribute-Value Pairs.

  • Cisco avpair SSID and WLC

    Hi!
    I'd like to differenciate users sharing the same ldap directory and radius authentication.
    For example, if I have a student and a teacher, i'd like to be sure that the student will stay on its vlans and so on.
    I can do this by using vlan attributes and aaa override but if I do that, I will have for example a student connected to the teacher SSID but on the student vlan. It's not a pretty situation...
    I read that we can use an cisco avpair attribute to force users to connect only on their SSID but it doesn't seem to work with controller.
    Is anybody have a solution for my case?
    Thanks

    I've used av-pair on the WLC for Web Splash Page, but not ssid restrictions.
    I did however find this documentation: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00807669af.shtml
    It refers to configuing a NAR (Network Access Restriction) in ACS which makes it sound like you can limit a user to a specific SSID.

  • Cisco-avpair for both NX-OS and IOS

    Using freeradius2-2.1.12. I need to setup read-write access for both Cisco NX-OS and IOS devices. I did the following,
    DEFAULT Group == operator-rw, Auth-Type = System
             Service-Type = NAS-Prompt-User,
             cisco-avpair := "shell:roles*\"network-admin vdc-admin priv-lvl=15\""
    I can log into both NX-OS and IOS devices; however, IOS devices only  permits exec mode not the privileged exec (enable) mode.
    Is there a different syntax that can make this work for both NX-OS and IOS?
    Norman

    As you have noticed IOS and NX-OS are a little bit different. With NX-OS there isn't a "disabled" mode but just netowrk roles. For IOS can try pushing for example "cisco-avpair =shell:priv-lvl=7" and then define a local priv level 7 on the network device with the needed commands
    Thank you for rating!

  • Cisco PI 1.3 - Internal Server Error with RADIUS-authentication

    Hi,
    I have a problem with a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 (Appliance, fully patched) that I'm trying to authenticate against a Radiator RADIUS-server.
    From the RADIUS-server's point of view it looks fine, but I just get an HTTP Status 500 internal error (see attached image) when trying to log in.
    I'm not the one managing the RADIUS-server but I got the following debug sent from them:

    Does anyone have any idea on what the the problem is, or some tips on how to troubleshoot? (rebooting and ncs stop/start has no impact on the issue)
    //Charlie

    I ran into a similar issue this morning in my lab.  After I issued ncs status - the database service came back as not running.  I stop/started the Prime services and it came up.  Once all the services were running my WLC imported with no issues.  I also deployed another server for another lab and it had issues with the clocking being out of sync.

  • RADIUS/DECODE: parse unknown cisco vsa "profile-name" - IGNORE

    Dear Team,
    I have faced an issue with dot1x mab authorization between cisco switch 3750 and ISE 1.1. I have cisco IP phone connected on port # gig1/0/1 to authenticated through MAB with cisco ISE
    int gig 1/0/1
    switchport mode access
    switchport access vlan 9
    switchport voice vlan 410
    authentication order mab dot1x
    authentication priority dot1x mab
    spanning-tree portfast
    authentication host-mode multi-domain
    authentication port-control auto
    dot1x pae authenticator
    mab
    dot1x timeout tx-period 3
    dot1x max-reauth-req 2
    authentication periodic
    authentication timer reauthenticate server
    I can get authentication successfuly but can't download the authorization profile on the gig1/0/1 port since I can see that everything seems fine from the ISE side. the phone is authenticated and authorized fine. so, I debug the dot1x & radius flows from the switch side and get this result.

    so, I notice two things :-
    1-" RADIUS/DECODE: parse unknown cisco vsa "profile-name" - IGNORE " on the radius attribute since I beleive that I configure the radius vsa attribute fine as shows

    radius-server vsa send authentication
    2- "%DOT1X_SWITCH-5-ERR_VLAN_RSPAN:" since I didn't have any configuration related to RSPAN.
    so, anybody have any idea to fix this issue.
    Regards
    Basel

    It is not the ACL it is ignoring, it's the profile-name, which it should, because it has nothing to use that for. However, you should look into VLAN 410, to check and see if you have any config relating to that vlan, the only actual error i see in your logs is the one regarding assigning vlan 410. Could you please post you entire switch config, see we can see what else you might have configured.

    Hello,
    I have a cisco switch with ios: c3550-ipbasek9-mz.122-44.SE6.bin
    I am trying to push dACL fro my ISE device into the switch, but it is not getting applied to switch.   dynamic vlan assignment workds fine, but dACL doesnot apply
    Any instruction plz?

    Hi Jatin,
    ISE is properly configured for dACL,   i think there is some compatibility issue on cisco switch ios.

  • Cisco-assign-ip-pool RADIUS VSA is an integer?

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to configure IP pool selection by RADIUS on ACS 5-3-0-40-7.
    So, I went to configuring the cisco-assign-ip-pool (Cisco VSA 218) attribute within some test authorization profile but discovered that cisco-assign-ip-pool is an integer (?!) and (therefore) accepts digits only.
    As far as I can remember, we used to put pool *names* within ip:addr-pool (something along those lines: cisco-avpair = "ip:addr-pool=test-pool-1").
    So how should we configure the values for this attribute in ACS 5?

    If your NAS is "RADIUS (Cisco IOS/PIX)" it will use a Cisco-AVPair attribute with "ip:addr-pool=poolname" inside it.
    If your NAS is just about any other RADIUS type, it will use attribute 88, Framed-Pool.
    Use the dictionary Radius-Cisco and then select cisco av-pair in the radius authorization profile.
    After that configure:
    ip:addr-pool=poolname
    The pool should be defined on the device itself like ASA. The ACS will only push the name of it.

  • IPv6 prefix delegation with AVPair ipv6:delegated-prefix

    Dear all
    I have a LNS running c7200-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T4.bin.
    I am trying to delegate IPv6 prefixes to vpdn users as described in
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6553/whitepaper_c11-602131.html#wp9000270
    From this whitepaper: "When the delegating provider edge router supports  RFC 4818, only one user profile is stored for the RADIUS server. In  addition the RADIUS server may be configured with a DNS server per user,  which overwrites the providers edge router's default DNS server address  configured in the DHCP pool"
    Our Freeradius has the following user entry according to the mentioned whitepaper:
    user@foobar Auth-Type = Local, Password == "foo"
       Service-Type = Framed-User,
       Framed-Protocol = "PPP",
       Framed-IP-Address = "10.0.0.1",
       Framed-IP-Netmask = "255.255.255.255",
       Framed-MTU = "1492",
       Framed-Compression = "Van-Jacobson-TCP-IP",
       Cisco-AVPair = "ipv6:prefix#1=201:DB8:F1:0::/64",
       Cisco-AVPair += "ipv6:delegated-prefix=201:DB8:AAAA::/48",
       Cisco-AVPair += "lcp:interface-config=mtu 1460"
    If I try to connect this user I get the PPP-Link established with prefix 201:DB8:F1:0::/64 as expected. But instead of providing the delegated prefix from the AVPair the router queries the radius server again for the user user@foobar-dhcpv6pd which I have not configured since I assume that this router "supports RFC 4818", right?
    So why does it as for user@foobar-dhcpv6pd ?
    Thanks for any hint,
    Grischa

    Hi,
    RFC4818 is supported starting with 15.1(1)T or later. 151-2.T2a seems to have an issue though.

    Laurent.

  • Cisco Prime and Radius

    I have setup Prime to use Radius, i can see authenication request to my radius but i keep getting user name and password is incorrect. I have 100's of switches authenticating to this radius server and everything works fine. I have loooked for logs in Prime for radius errors but I can't find anything.
    any suggestions?

    What's getting confused is the difference between AUTHENTICation (who are you?) and AUTHORIZation (what are you allowed to do?).  Clearly FreeRADIUS is saying that the AUTHENTICation passed--the credentials were correct--but it's not passing the correct AUTHORIZation information back.  Your IOS devices may bow to "shell:priv-lvl=15", but Prime Infrastructure isn't an IOS device, and has no idea what to do with that.  As well, the login failure mechanism isn't complicated enough yet to reflect to a user the difference between a failed AUTHENTICation or a failed AUTHORIZation.
    There's a sample configuration document about NCS here in the Support Forum:
    Freeradius for NCS config
    All the correct AUTHORIZation attributes--the lines 'cisco-avpair += "NCS:task0=View Alerts and Events",'--from that sample are what you're missing.  The attributes are listed under Administration >  Users, Roles & AAA > User Groups > select a group > Task List hotlink for each group of user.  Remember that there HAS to be a VIRTUAL-DOMAIN attribute, a ROLE attribute and *ALL* of the TASK attributes associated with that group.  The attributes are going to be different from NCS to Prime Infrastructure, and tend to be different from version to version of each product, so you have to use the ones that are listed in whatever version of whatever product you're using right now.
    Once you have FreeRADIUS configured to send the right attributes, to diagnose this full on, go to Administration > Logging, and set the logging level to Trace for the modules AAA, GUI and System, and click Save.  Then change your AAA settings and make a login attempt, allowing it to fail.  When it does, please return to Administration > Logging, and click the Download button to retrieve the logs.zip file.  Look in the ncs-0-0.log file and you'll see the transaction to FreeRADIUS, what Prime Infrastructure has to say to it, what FreeRADIUS says back, and what Prime Infrastructure does with the responses.

  • Cisco - Privilege level is always 15

    I'm using RADIUS for the AAA process.
    When I was running IOS 12.2 on routers everything was fine, but after upgrading to IOS Version 12.4(12) users gets always priv-lvl 15 regardless
    what I set in RADIUS profile for the user.
    I don't understand why router is processing CISCO-AV pair priv-lvl=y two times. And, why in the newest version the CISCO-AV pair priv-lvl=(value defined in RADIUS) came first?
