I have Calendar alerts on every device [Mac/iPad/iPhone] after installing Mountain Lion. How do I stop this? Tech support acted like I was the first person this happened to. Anyone have the solution?

Well, whichever device you uncheck = exclude from calendars (and reminders) via iCloud will be excluded as both, receiver and sender. It's an "all or nothing", I guess. Otherwise it'd get more complicated, and the support calls could easily fill an extra forum...
@lmp68: don't think iTunes is it, in the days of iCloud that would sure take quite an extra effort, if possible at all.

After applying update my apple tv2 will randomly go to a black screen that lasts for a few seconds. When it gets back to normal after a few seconds it acts like the video never stopped since its farther along in the timeline. This happens with all video content wether its from Netflix or streaming from my iTunes library

You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds. If that doesn't help try using another HDMI cable.

I can't restart the iphone to reset or restore. I held the homebutton down and the homebutton + sleepbutton down at the same time. The apple doesn't even appear.
I've also tried connecting it to the charger. It's not charging and dosn't recongize it.
I tried connecting the phone to itunes on the computer to see if it registered and charged it but that didn't work either.

  • Why is itunes always resetting like it was just installed? It's always wanting you to confirm everything when you open it.

McAfee AntiVirus by any chance? See the thread  Why does iTunes delete my itunesprefs.xml?

  • I can not start my apps and in my CC panel appears like I have never installed anything.

I was sorking this morning with my apps, and an update failed, and I got the blue screen. After that I was not able to start any of them, and it appears like I have never installed them. I am trying to reinstall and it is taking FOREVER.

if your adobe programs do not work, uninstall them, run the cleaner (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html), restart your computer and reinstall your adobe apps, https://creative.adobe.com/.
if your adobe programs work but the cc panel shows none are installed (so you cannot update), use solution 2 here, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html even though that problem is the opposite.

How can I download Find My iPhone on iPhone 4 if it was never installed before? It requires iOS 8. I have read that it will download if a previous version is already installed on device, but it was never installed on mine.

    Niel,
I'm feeling pretty foolish right now. I went into Settings, iCloud and found that Find My iPhone is there and enabled.
Thank you anyway for your reply.

Find my iphone app is only for finding your iphone or another idevice you may have. You must of enabled find my iphone in the icloud settings as stevejobsfan said. It is not a seperate app and is part of the os.

  • Pre turned itself off, after reboot, acted like it was my first use

Had this phone for several months now.  Tonight it just randomly was off when I reached to use it.  After a 10 min boot up, my apps were still on the phone, but I had to 'agree' to usage of the app store, and had to re-register my foursquare, accuradio, preware, email, and calendar.  I dunno what else needs re-registering since I have so many apps.
Anyway, the phone is acting like I just turned it on for the first time. Also my stored alarms were erased.
    Anyone ever have these issues?
I've had the lost alarm clock issue before, but never lost my registrations on my apps.

    Hello bcast:
Welcome to the Palm Forums. Has the issue you mention repeated since your last incident?

  • HT1199 I updated Itunes on my PC and now when i try to open Itunes i get a error message saying "application failed to start because MSVCR80 was not found" then whenI close that pop up I get a error message saying "windows was not installed correctly Erro

I updated my itunes the other day and now it won't open I get error message saying "application failed to start because MSVCR80 was not found"  When I close that window I get message stating Itunes was not installed correctly Error 7 Windows error 126.  My PC is a Acer and I'm running Windows Visa.  I tried to uninstall Itunes and reinstall it and get same message.  Can anyone help.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Yesterday iTunes worked - today, it acts like it's newly installed (won't show any of my music or playlists) - what could have made it forget everything it knew yesterday and how can I fix it without having to redo all my previous work?

The title says it all.  iTunes was working fine last night.  I added some more music to my playlists and synched my iPod last night, then shut down.  Today, when I start iTunes it opens up a welcome to setup screen and acts like it wants me to answer questions to configure it for the first time.  When I cancel out of that, it opens up a normal iTunes screen that's completely empty of music and has none of my custom playlists (all the playlists it does show are empty) and it's asking me if I want to have it search my PC and add media files, as if it's newly installed and that's never been done.
Has anybody seen this behavior before, and is there some simple way I can fix it so it remembers all the stuff it knew last night, without having to start all over again and rebuild all my playlists and stuff?

For general library squiffiness following an upgrade the easiest thing is to restore your last backup, but I guess if it were that simple you wouldn't be here.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • My mac is acting like windows... Help...

Hey everyone. I've been having glitches with almost every single one of my application. And I think most of the problems comes are related to GUI. Adium dock icon and contacts on the contact list would stop updating; System Preferences would sometimes show up without icons, back, forward, show all, and search bar; Spaces has about 50% chance of having black backgrounds on a random space out of my 16 and sometimes the black screens pop up after I switch into another space, which would log me out of my computer and only show my cursor (then I would have to press and hold my power button for a restart); the battery bar has sometimes shown up without anything in the battery but the system is fully charged; Excel has been having problems opening files, saying that there are memory problems; quicksilver and speech recognition has been quitting suddenly; Photoshop, VLC, and other applications have been crashing.
I don't know what there is to do any more, most of these problems are gone after a restart but then it shows up again. Could this be related to me keeping my computer on at night (I use it as an alarm clock) or the 2 months where I've kept my hard drive at a constant 97% full? (I don't have an external large enough for backing up my computer, so if there is a lot of files that I need it to store, I don't have anywhere else to move it to...) Please also note that I've also applejacked my mac 2 weeks ago...

You will need to run "Repair Permissions" from Disk Utility, within OSX or from install DVD.
But for the "Repair Disk" you can run fsck from safemode.
    /sbin/fsck -fy <press return>
Once fsck has finished you should get a message similar to this:
** The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
If fsck finds issues and alters, repairs, or fixes anything, it will display a message something like this:
*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***
In this case continue to run the above fsck command until you get a message similar to this:
** The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
I also recommend that you get a hold of an install DVD, as you will need it eventually. You can call Apple and have them send you a copy of the disk that came with your Mac, it will cost you around $30.00. Or if and when you need to reinstall you can always step up to Snow Leopard for $30.00.

  • How to make JEditorPane acting like Windows on-line Help ?

    Hello all!
The JEditorPane is able to show html inside it. Is there the possibility to be able to click on links in it? (e.g. <a href=")?

Sounds like you haven't bothered to look at the javadoc:

  • HELP! Restarted while running windows setup! No MacOS when rebooted.

I have almost the same problem as this one (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8248433). I partitioned my 230G HD. I partitioned 32G for my windows. I've done boot camp before and everything went well. but i uninstalled it because I wanted more space. and now i ant it back. So i ran bootcamp to reinstall windows.
There was the setup.. but when it made me choose which partition to format, it only showed me one partition. And i first thought that it was big for a windows partition. But I clicked format anyway. It was about 6% when I felt that something was really wrong. so i restarted it in the hopes of going back to my mac os. BUT, when i restarted and held down control, the only things that are showing are the windows CD and the windows 'partition'! NO MAC OS!
I was confident in running bootcamp because i already did it countless times before! i did not expect this to happen NOW! Just when the school year was about to end! HELP! ALL MY FILES ARE IN HERE! I feel that I still have hope. because only 6% was reformatted. PLEASEEEEEE. HELP!

I am a person with zero technical understanding of OS X but - on the opposite hand - have blundered my way successfully through a lot of problems.
I see you have already used BC successfully once and so you have good experience there. I cannot comment on the extra large partition mystery you encountered, but I understand that you DID use BC to initiate a 2nd install of Windows, correct? And while installing Windows, Windows had you choose a partition but offered limited selection, correct? That is it only showed you one instead of the usual 2 (or is it 3? - I forget but it seems to me there is a 3rd partition of very small size required by the computer but that is of no consequence here...) In any case what we have was a suspicious start of a Windows install which was aborted 6% in.
I'm pretty sure the "damage" would have to be confined to a small part of the hard drive data. Your files are still there - you are scared of losing your Mac data (not Windows data) correct? On these boards there are a few individuals who purchased software that is very successful at saving files from a doomed Mac hard drive - just do a search here to get the name of that software.
But first - why not try something very simple and obvious. Boot to your Apple install disk (re-start with the Leopard DVD in and hold down the option key) and when the tool bar loads (I think after you choose which language you intend to use) mouse-over the toolbar options and click the Start Disk function JUST TO SEE if MAYBE your Mac install can be 'seen' (and started) from there.
If the above trick fails - another potential remedy may be had from Disk Utility and perhaps some sort of repair can be done from there....
I invite anyone with better knowledge to chime in here - I don't know anything about repairs from Disk Utility, esp. whether or not experimenting here would be dangerous or damaging to data....
    Good Luck
PS - one final "remote" idea - some people obtain a Linux trial boot disk. It is a Linux OS on a DVD which - legend has it - can boot from your DVD drive and access files on your Mac install. Again - I have no practical knowledge on how this is done. Try Google I guess...
