I had some health problems during the late week.
Now I'm in better state but I have a problem linked to this forum.
On my desktop is a file entitled : Groovy iOS Budget Template Update 8-3-11.numbers
I'm quite sure that it was sent by a forum asker but I fin no trace of the mail to which it was certainly attached.
Maybe I got it on the HD which I used for tests before installing Lion as my main operating system and I failed to transfer the mail from this HD.
If the original asker read this message,
(1) I apologize for forgetting this 'problem'
(2) It would be useful that he send a mail explaining what is the problem with this document.

I do have an ARCHOS AV700 too. I was more thinking about another one the size similar to iPod.
I do not understand what you mean with DRM or playing with WMP. I rip my Divx with HandBrake. Play them with QT pro (Divx codec installed) or VLC. Grab and drop them to ARCHOS and vise-versa and that's it.
The only reproache I have with the AV700 is the definition of the screen that is lame compared to iPod.
Other than that somebody gave me this other answer on a different thread (yes I actually had 2 bottles to throw at the sea):
"You're correct that the original filenames are not preserved on the pod, but id3 tags are.
So if you simply grab all those files in their hashed directories and names, import them into itunes, and ask itunes to "keep music folder organized", it'll recreate the directory structure and filenames based upon the information in the tags embedded in the tracks."
I didn't try it yet but I like it.

Yesterday I was pushed into the sea with my Iphone 5s in my back pocket, as I got out I took my phone out of my pocket and it turned itself off. I have tried many ways but still is unsuccessful and wont turn on, what shall I do?

I was pushed into the sea with my iphone 5s in my back pocket, I got out and pulled my phone out of my back pocket and it turnt itself off. I went straight home and tried using a hair dryer but was unsucessful, put it in rice which also failed and i left it screen up on the radiator over night but still wouldnt turn on. It has charge on it although i still tried plugging it in to give it power and still was unable to power up. Can anyone give any suggestions on how i can fix it as for its not even 2 months old.

If you're going to put a phone in rice (not daft at all, the rice acts as a dessicant), it needs to be for a few days, not a few hours. The OP stated in their post that the did put it in rice. In addition to the liquid damage, salt water is also much more corrosive to electronics than plain water. The rice won't help with the salt.

Sea water and electronics don't mix. The salinity fries the internal circuitry of the phone. Your phone is toast.
Certainly the user of any device which can be lost, stolen, or dropped in the sea would be smart enough to have had the data backed up, rght? Your photos and numbers should be safely backed up on your computer or in the cloud.
If you didn't do this, there's no way to recover those data now. Backups are meant to be done BEFORE disaster strikes, not after.

If it fell into the sea, i.e., into salt water, then letting it sit and dry is the absolute worst thing you can do and, on top of that, you can almost guarantee that when you do that, it will never work again after you've plugged it in or otherwise tried to use it. Salt deposits are going to be working at shorting out just about everything that can be shorted out.
These things have recovered almost routinely from fresh water immersions, usually in the laundry, but sea water and other mineral-laden things (Diet Coke, sweat, etc.) have usually proved fatal.
Frankly, you don't have a high probability of recovering it no matter what you do, but the absolute best chance would be to do something like the following:
a) Open the Shuffle up as much as possible first, using the iFixIt guidance provided in the other post or whatever other guide you wish to use. At a minimum, pop off the Hold switch and remove the glue around the USB plug, then slide the assembly out just enough to create a small opening and loosely tape it in place. You need to provide access and drainage for the next step.
b) Fill a small basin with barely warm (not hot) distilled water.
c) Immerse the opened Shuffle in the water, then gently swish it around a bit. You want water all over the inside of it at this stage, giving it a chance to dissolve some of the minerals.
d) Keep swishing until you think it's enough, then remove the Shuffle and allow it to drain on paper towels. While it's draining, replace the water with new, warm, distilled water.
e) Repeat b) through d) many more times. When mine got dumped in lake water (not salty but far from distilled, too) I did the rinse and drain cycles for about 15-20 minutes before moving on.
f) When done, turn and gently shake the Shuffle to drain as much water from the interior, then put it into some spot to dry. I used the oven with the light on, and left it in there undisturbed for a couple of days. Don't rush this process, don't put it in the sun, don't use a hair dryer, etc.
g) When done with the drying, reassemble it and hope for the best. With luck, it'll be none the worse for wear - and a lot cleaner.

My program has only a few and I am searching for a way to be able to buy more like I would for instance with making DVD Jewel Cases - some 1,120 were offerred for my Sea of Love DVD. I need to look good as this is a very top professional work that will sell well, but I don't have an appropriate menu. As I recall, a previous Premeir Elements Program I had - in fact had a good Menu of under the sea or ocean. Can you begin to help me with what otherwise should be a simple issue. 1. What version of Premiere Elements do you have and on what computer operating system is it running?
Each of the versions comes with many disc menu themes. So, I would ask "Do you have the full amount for your version? Or, are you just not satisfied with the many choices that come built into the version that you have?
2. The most obvious Adobe disc menu that comes to mind related to your stated interests is Aquarium which has been included with recent versions. Have you seen and or used that one.

You can customize backgrounds and text within the disc menu customization section of the program.
For deeper customization, then you probably will have to edit the main menu .psd and the scene menu .psd, using Photoshop CS or higher.
If you get lucky, you may find a version of Photoshop Elements on some version of Windows that will open the Layer Sets of the .psd files so that you can get at the files you seek to edit.

I'm drowning in the sea of HD export presets. Salvation wanted please..

I hope the forum proves again its functionality like it did before. Cause my head's getting a little bit blurry now, from all the presets.
So, the big issue is that I want to export a HD project to a format in which I dont get a wrongly cropped/stretched/laggy/wrong-frame-rate/... image. I know it's not that hard, but I just cannot figure it out anymore.
I checked other topics and discussions, and found some concerning more or less the same question but I didn't find the right answer, sorry.
Let's make a list of the settings/info:
     - OS: Windows XP service pack 3, Premiere CS4 (and AE, Photoshop, ...)
     - My captured and imported images are shot with a Canon HV40 HDV camera, and have, according to the title display in the left bottom corner of Premiere the following specs: 1440x1080 (1080p), frame rate 25 fps and PixelAspectRatio 1,3333 (HD anamorphic 1080 i guess?).
To make sure that these are the exact specs of my video files, i tried - following the ever-returning advice of this forum user Bill hunt- importing my video files in Gspot. But, don't ask me why, Gspot only displays that my files are MPEG-2. The file extension is .m2t.
     - The Premiere CS4 preset I used to make my project is -to match the video files specifications- the HDV 1080 p(rogressive) Preset, displaying the same specs as above.
     - I do not want to export my video to youtube, I want to show the video to an audience using a beamer, which is the reason why I want to keep the quality pretty high. I don't know whether I am going to play the movie on a MAC or a Windows computer, so I need to make 2 versions (each one smoothly compatible with the according OS). Also I want a copy of the movie in HD quality to show to someone on a strong computer.
     - I live in Belgium, Europe. Does this matter in this case? I know that NTSC is the standard in the US and and Japan etc, and that PAL is the standard in Europe. But does this still matter up to this day, with the rather, uh.., global economy and quick exporting of products etc... I do not know alot about this, I hope you understand my question. I mean, what are the consequences from these standards? Do they concern your screen/monitor... ?
     - When I want to export - using Adobe Media Encoder, a HDV export preset with 1080 p, 1440x1080, P.A.R. 1,33333 and a 25 fps is NOT AN OPTION?????
There are other export presets available of course, for example the MPEG-2 / HDTV 1080p 25 (fps) High Quality. But in the summary it goes: PAL (??), 1920x1080, 25, p . It is right that the PixelAspectRatio on this exportpreset becomes 1.0 (square), right?
Yes, I know that the eventual size is the same, because both the pixels increase in number, but decrease in size (badly explained i know).
Is this the export format i should use? Will my image not crop, shock, stretch.. ?
I'm sorry, for many of you this must seem a stupid and lazy question but I can't figure out the whole system behind this, I would very much appreciate it if someone could explain.

With the project all done, i'm preparing for the presentation. Managed to get my hands on a HD beamer for the night (Epason TW2000) and planning to do the presentation in HD.
That of course managed to bring up some problems. I posted a thread which i'll repost here . Sorry for the repost, i normally do not intend to do this, but since this thread is actually about the same thing, i'd like to ask the same question to you. The end version is in AfterEffects, but that actually doesn't alter the question. It's about export:
"I want to export my AE project of approx 30 min containing several HD files to a Blu Ray disc. The end goal is to project the video in HD quality using the Epson EMP-TW2000 projector. This projector is HD compatible.
To project the video I need to connect the beamer to a computer capable of playing a heavy HD file (1), OR burn the project to a BRD (2) and play it using a BRplayer.
I prefer option 2, so my question is: which would be the preferred export preset?
Project specs:
                    - 1920x1080 sq pix (16:9)
                    - 25 fps
                    - my imported video files (Prem.Pro sequences) are also 25 fps and are Progressive (!)
To export to a BRD compatible format, do i not encounter a big problem: my projectfiles are 25 fps and progressive, and I believe that the only Bluray preset dispaying 1920x1080 with 25 fps requests an INTERLACED video (I viewed the presets found on this forum, this thread)... There is also a Progr. format, BUT then you need 30 fps (29,...).
So, is there one dimension that can be changed without changing the content of the video, and if yes which one (either the interlacing or the fps).
I'm not very familiar with the whole Blu-ray thing, I hope that someone can help me out."

It's that time of the sea

Time to spend money.
I don't know what player I should buy. I tend to like Creative as a company so I believe my purchase for an MP3 player will be from them, but I'm willing to buy from another company if the player is good. I'm hoping to spend less than $225 (may make a small exception, but I was even hoping to spend less than $200). I'm also looking for the most bug-free/effor-free player possible for the money.
I don't need a ton of space, 5 gigs would be fine, but I'm willing to buy a player with say 30gigs if the price is right and it's bugs are low, etc.

Ok here's my question guys. I am based over in the Uk and am very much looking forward to the iPad release over here. One app that I will be very interested in is the BBC app which you can see here

When I load up iTunes I can't see this in the Uk version but if I load up the American itunes but clicking of the 'view in iTunes' on this webpage, it gives me the option to download this app.
So, can I download apps off the American itunes to use on a Uk iPad? This is because the American itunes often gets apps etc a good while before we do in the Uk.

In a word, no - not unless you have a U.S. iTunes account, which requires having a credit card with a mailing address in the U.S. By the same token, I can't purchase/download any iTunes content from the UK iTunes store or from the iTunes store in any other country.

Can't make LOM working more than 20 seconds after startup

Hi.
This bottle in the sea because I don't succeed to make LOM working.
The story is the following.
I have 5 Xserve Intel involved in a Xsan installation. Port 1 is used for public LAN, port 2 for private LAN, as usual.
I've configured the LOM settings for port 1 locally with Server Monitor with another IP in the public LAN.
Then I've added the Xserve in the Server Monitor of an iMac used for the administration of the SAN.
The messages I get are a waiting for an answer of the Xserve or the fact that the information have not been updated... for a long time. All the Xserve present the same problem. At this moment, it's not possible to ping the LOM Port 1.
If I add the server locally in its own Server Monitor with its LOM IP, it doesn't work either but if I try "127.0.0.1", I get the hardware informations as expected.
I've tried to shutdown a Xserve, unplug the power cords, wait one minute, plug the power cords, start it but it doesn't fix the problem. Perhaps I should have unplug the other cables ?
Finally, I've noticed that :
- when the Xserve is shut down, I can ping the LOM Port 1
- during the start up of the Xserve, the iMac gets its hardware informations for a couple of seconds
- at the moment when the login window is visible in ARD, the LOM Port 1 is no longer ping-able
- the Server Monitor on the iMac says that the connection with the Xserve has been lost.
That is to say that the iMac receives the hardware informations of the Xserve during 20 seconds after their startup, not more
I've tried to use the command sudo IPMITool lan print 1 and it seems that the configuration is correct.
I have also another problem with Server Monitor. If I try locally (with the 127.0.0.1 address) to edit notifications, I don't succeed to complete the "To" field whereas I can comlete the "From" field. Is there a known problem with the GUI here or do I have to change my glasses ?
Any idea is welcome now ! I'm lost.

I've investigated the problem. It's simple but I 've found no solution at the moment.
The problem appears when the Xserve is connected to the Cisco Catalyst 3750G switch, can't be reproduced when the Xserve is in direct attachement with my Mac.
All the ports of this switch have been set to "Desktop" with the Web interface (after Express Setup) and the negociation (speed/duplex) is auto by default.
When the Ethernet negociation setting on the Xserve is "Automatic", the Xserve doesn't fully boot. When it is started, you have to unplug and plug the Ethernet cable so the startup is completed. Very strange.
When the Ethernet negociation setting on the Xserve is manually fixed to 1000-FD, the Xserve starts up without problem. When the Xserve is stopped, the LOM Port in pingable. When it starts a little, the LOM Port is still pingable but at the moment I think the manual setting is applied, the LOM Port is no longer pingable. This is the key of the problem.
So I tried to fix the speed/duplex in the switch and leave the Xserve on "Automatic". The story is the same: the LOM Port is desactivated after a few seconds of startup.
When the Xserve is on "Automatic" and plugged directly to my Mac, the problem doesn't exist.
The problem does not exist with the Mac Pro leaved on "Automatic".
So the problem is between the Xserve Intel and the Cisco Switch. Perhaps something to do with its settings but I do not speak "Cisco" regularly
The Cisco has product ID WS-C3750G-48TS and the Software is 12.2(25)SEE3.
I made the same test with the "private" Cisco switch product ID WS-C3750G-24T and the problem is the same.
For the moment, I leave the Xserve with the speed/duplex fixed because I prefer that the machines boot, rather than being able to consult LOM remotely when they are hanged (it works locally on 127.0.0.1 on each Xserve started).
Next step would be to play with setting the spanning tree "portfast" on the Cisco ; if it lets the Xserve to be set on "Automatic", perhaps it will solve the LOM problem and by the way the edit notification problem.

Hi, I have to say It's been a while i'm stuck on this problem and I'm about to disable orientation change for good.
This post is my bottle in the sea !
So I'll decribe my problem very shortly and clearly.
I'm building my first Android APP with Flash cs6 and Air for Android SDK V 13.0.0.111
My project properties (manifest) is set to Auto orientation, Auto Aspect Ratio.
I'm using the event to trigger my project adaptations --> StageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGE
When the stage flip, I gotoAndPlay("landscape or portrait") accordingly.
I've tried many codes on the web, but i'm always facing the same problem.
My event triggers just before the stage really flips. So I end up doing gotoAndPlay("landscape or portrait") before it is really required. But in the end in kinda works.
I think that using auto orientation will always leave my in that situation and I'm looking for your help.

I know this is old, but I just found a solution in my case, and figured i'd share.
Instead of listening for "stageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGE", listen for "Event.RESIZE".
Worked like freakin' pixie dust for me.

How to use SEA GSM Module on different slot of the cRIO 9073

I have a SEA GSM+ Module on my cRIO 9073 at slot 7. I run the example program included in the resource CD as well as compiling the FPGA driver on my target but still don't work. Power supply is connected on the module. I don't know what I am missing. I followed strictly below steps as indicated in the read me text file but still nothing works. Please help.
How to switch the FPGA Target on LabVIEW
Complete the steps only if you use FPGA target other than 9104.
1. Add your new Compact RIO Target to the project
1. Add the new FPGA target below the cRIO-RT Target.
3. Drag the Gxxx folder from the original FPGA target and drop it into the new FPGA target. Make sure, that the module with its IOs, the FIFOs and the FPGA VI are integrated
4. Recompile the main VI - FPGA_App.vi, which is located in the Gxxx folder. A new bit file is created (.lvbit)
5. Open the Gxxx_Open.vi and select the just created bit file within the 'Open FPGA VI Reference.vi'.
6. Bind to TypeDef using ..Shared/Shared_TypeDefs.llb/Gxxx_FPGA_RefNum.ctl.
7. Close all VIs and do a "Save All, this project"

Hello Jeff,
The module is not working in any slot. Yes, I am using the sample code provided with the module name "Gxxx.lvproj". And also the FPGA is successfully compiled. Please see attached file for the error I received by the module.
I already see this error in this forum and it was answered by powering the module by the external power supply. I already powered it. but still got an error.
For the clarification, I am not using the "SEA cRIO-Combo plus" module in the project rather I am using "SEA cRIO-GSM plus". I also attached the sren shotof the manual. I don't see any Toolkit Software manual in the resource CD and on the SEA website.
