Box Around Flash Movie
On my flash movies when I post them to the web, there is a
box around the movie and then it says "Click to Activate and Use
the Control". Why is it doing this and how can I get it to
stop?
my 1st reaction is that these posts are just a funny
joke - since about every 8th post is on this
exact topic nowadays
My newsreader is actually downloading them as the same thread
because they share the same subject
line - usually that happens with subects like "HELP!" or
"URGENT!" lol

White boundary line around flash movie
Hi,
When I use a flash movie on an HTML page it all looks good in
Mozilla Firefox. In IE on the other hand, it sucks, because when
you move your move over the flash movie you see a white boundaty
box. Which makes it all look very silly.
How do I get rid of that?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.
FatalDestinyuh oh - here we go again - duck and cover!!!!!
If i had a nickel everytime this was asked in the past few
months i would have....let's see - go here:
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*flash*&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
(the google archive of the forum)
and search for "active content".
A total of 362 (and rising everyday) returns.
Multiply that by $.5
I think I would end up with $181. (is my math correct?)
Anyway you get the point. Search the forums first - it was
just asked and answered at least twice
just yesterday. It unfortunately will be asked again today a
couple more times, and then tomorrow
and the next day and....
Most of us are simply too tired to even respond to this
anymore but we understand that searching for
the right terminology is often hard to discern.
But here's the url that has been posted here a couple hundred
times already - guess it can't hurt to
paste it again :)
http://activecontent.blogspot.com
If you search google for "active content" you will realize
just how popular this little bit of tech
news was/has been over the last 6 months - been all over
blogs and news sites for a while.
There are methods to combat this on this site (yes,
adobe.com) and all you have to do is search
adobe to find:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/
An entire section devoted to this issue.
When you hover over any active content in IE you will see
this:
http://www.mudbubble.com/staging/ac.jpg
See the little tool tip instructing you what to do? If you
google that ("Click to activate and use
this control" or similar), you will find 2,050,000 returns

Remove box around flash when rollover
Does anyone know how to remove the white box inside a browser
(in my case Internet Explorer) that appears around a flash area
when your mouse rolls over into the flash area? What I've noticed
is that on some websites this actually does not happen and on other
websites it does. Is it something I can control as a flash
designer? In other words, is there a setting or something that
turns off this white box area from showing up on a mouse roll over?
Any tips or help would be appreciated.
Thank you very much,

Here's my problem. I have a box appear around my Flash in
internet explorer, I know about the lawsuit between Microsoft and
Active X, and understand why it is there, and can even get rid of
it with a javascipt file. My problem is that whenever I get rid of
the box, I also get rid of my dhtml. Here is the page:
http://d14684333.r200.radiowebworks.com/info_farm.htm.
As you can see, my dhtml menu goes "OVER" the flash, but
because of that box, no links can be clicked until you click on the
flash. I am pulling my hair out here! How can I get rid of that box
and not get rid of my DHTML script? Please don't send me to the
Microsoft site because I read their info there and was totally
lost! Please advise. I am at my wits end! Also, by the way, I am
using Dreamweaver MX 2004. Thanks for all the help guys, I

All the flash work I've designed, when I open up a site where
the element is, a box is around the flash....what is this box? If I
click on the box, it disappears. If i put my mouse over the flash,
that box appears around the flash. Is there a way I can fix this is
or is it a setting n my browser and/or flash player? Here is an
example:

Place your mouse over the header, and you'll see what I mean.

Box around flash files in explorer
I am doing a site with flash buttons and every tim i go to a
new page and roll over the buttons section a bounding box comes up
around everything that is flash. When you roll over it, it tells
you to click to activate this control.
it works fine in mozilla but not in explorer. I havent had
this problem until recently and i am wondering is it a new version
of explorer that is doing this and i need to change some browser
settings or something.
Here is the link to the test site.
http://www.firstlinemedia.com/test
ThanksHi Mike,
Sorry, but that link won't work.
Here is the text of the post:
At my company I create LMS enabled lessons to help clinicians
learn to use patient tracking software. We recently encountered a
small problem that might be encountered by others who use this
forum. I thought I’d post my experience.
The issue began when my company began upgrading computer
terminals with the latest version of Windows XP. The symptoms of
the problem occurred when a web page containing any active content,
such as Flash, QuickTime, etc., displayed via the latest version of
Internet Explorer.
Here is the sequence of events:
After a page containing active content loaded, the user would
hover a mouse over the (active) content. At that time two curious
things would occur; a gray “bounding box” would appear
around the borders of the active content, and a small message box
would appear saying “Click to activate and use this
control.”. The user would have to click the active content
(to make the message and bounding box disappear). After the message
and bounding box disappeared the active content would function as
intended.
For me this meant that HTML files where I had Flash embedded
(generated from a Captivate file) would require an initial mouse
click to activate the (Flash) control. (I had many short Flash/HTML
files strung together for form a single lesson. I did this to track
the users progress through the LMS.) Each time a HTML page with
active content loaded the user would have to repeat the mouse
click. This was not a good thing for my lessons.
After doing a little research I found a Macromedia/Adobe
article that explained what was causing this new quirk and how to
work around the problem.
Here is a link to that article:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/articles/devletter.html
I thought this might be helpful for any folks encountering
the same problem.

Unwanted border around flash movie
Though I found that this problem is quite common and can have
different causes, I still couldn't resolve my own case.
I have several flash animations embedded in a table and the
one that has a rollover-action shows an unwanted border in Firefox
and in Internet Explorer. The borders are all set to 0, the
vertical and horizontal spacing of the <object>-tag is set to
0, too but no matter what else I tried it just doesn't work. The
animation does not show these borders when I test-compile it in
Flash, so I guess it could have something to do with the way
Dreamweaver embeds it in the HTML-file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.no worries - i access forum through the newsgroup - i dont
see any web features. also - when
searching, the web forum search ain't that great - always
better to use:

it is entire archive of this forum - probably the best way to

Force flash to open file download box in front of the flash movie
Folks,
I'm making a dvd title using flash to auto start when people
pops the dvd disc in.
I have a button 'Click here to download the movie' and
clicking the button should pop up a file download box so people can
save the movie file(.mov) to their desktop.
Problem is that the file download box shows up behind the
flash movie so people won't be able to see the download box since
it's hidden behind the flash. This is critical since I intend the
flash to open as a full-screen mode.
Is there a way to force the flash to open the download box in
front of the flash movie?
I tried getURL and fscommand ("exec", "filename.exe") and
even fileReference commands to try different way of linking the
movie file, and they all open download box behind the flash.
Please help~~~Please do not post the same topic in multiple forums. The
only thing I can suggest is when they click on the button to
download, you take flash out of full screen while they download the
video, you can use fileReference to control and monitor the
download. Use a listener object to monitor when download is
complete, then set flash back to full screen.
How are you scripting the full screen? -
I wrote 6 pages in a document. I wanted to put page 4 before page 3 and could not move them. They had a box around 5 pages and I don't know how I did that, nor do I know how to undo that.
terrymanga wrote:
Guess that's not the solution.
And you guessed wrongly.
On my side, I guess that before opening the menu, you clicked somewhere out of the pages (in the thumbnails areas for instance).
Re try after cliking at the bottom of a page.
The feature is really described in Pages User Guide.

I have taken a look at your .fla and seems your source file name is not matching with what is available(Bob_Dickson.f4v) & what is specified(Bob Dickson InterviewH264.f4v) in the Component Inspector panel. Either rename your movie from "Bob_Dickson.f4v" to "Bob Dickson InterviewH264.f4v" probably the easiest way or change the Source name for your flv playback component in Component Inspector panel to "Bob_Dickson.f4v" and re-publish the swf.
Hope this helps

Issue with border around submenu when a flash movie is under it
I've searched the forum and although I found posts about flash movies covering spry menu items, I couldn't find this exact thing.
I have a spry menu with a submenu which has a 1px solid border around it. On the pages linked to by the submenu items, I have flash movies. For pages where the flash movie is down far enough so that it is not overlapped by the submenu, everything looks great. However, on those pages where the submenu overlaps the flash movie, the border around the submenu is not visible on one side and is offset about a pixel on the other side. This is only happening in Firefox 3.6.18 Every other browser I've tried works. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.Hi Gramps,
