BP Classification - Roles

Hi Experts,
When we create Corporate or Prospect or Contact from WEB UI - Account Management, all the BPs are created with BP Role - General (in SAP GUI). How we can map Corporate to Organization or Prospect to Organization or Person and Contact to Person BP classifications??? Also let me know - how we can assign particular number range to BPs - example: Corporate (Organization) BP number should start from 1000 to 1999 or Prospect (Organization) BP number should start from 3000 to 3999 and Contact (Person) BP number should start from 5000 to 5999
Your  prompt response will be highly appreciated......
Cheers,
Peter J.

Hi,
Thanks you all for the expert support. I found the following solution:
a) Define the Number Ranges
SPRO -> Img -> Cross-Application Components -> SAP Business Partner -> Basic Settings -> Number Ranges and Groupings -> Define Number Ranges -> click on Change Intervals button -> click on Plus Intervals button -> enter no (example 01), From Number (number you want to start from - example: 0001000000), To Number (number you want to end at - example: 0001999999) -> save
b) Assign Number Ranges to Groupings
SPRO -> Img -> Cross-Application Components -> SAP Business Partner -> Basic Settings -> Number Ranges and Groupings -> Define Groupings and Assign Number Ranges -> click on new entries -> enter Grouping = 001 (example), Short Name = PJSold-to-Party, Description = PJ Sold-to-Party, Number Range = 01 (new number range created) -> Save
Cheers,
Peter J.

  • BP Role maintainence

    Thought this would be useful:
Frequently Asked Questions about Business Partner Roles in CRM.
    Solution
Business Partner Roles functionality in CRM can be confusing. For further information it's worth to know some basic facts:
    General Information
Any Business Partner in CRM can be seen in any Role, but it doesn't affect to its data.
In CRM the term "Role" is used for different object, which is, in fact, just a screen template for a transaction BP. Role is not a characteristic of a Business Partner in CRM, instead Partner Functions (SalesArea-depended) are used.
Business Partner Role means nothing in CRM. It's not involved into the PartnerDetermination process or Business Transactions. Again, only Partner Functions and Relationships are used instead.
Is there a Relation between CRM BP Role and R/3 Partner Role?
    No.
R/3 Partner Role is mapped to Partner Function in CRM.
CRM BP Role is not trasnferred to any other system, and used
exclusively for the transaction BP in CRM.
Why BP created in R/3 has another Roles in CRM?
CRM BP Role has NO relation to R/3 Partner Role.
In CRM any BP can have any Role, which can be switched anytime. This value is CRM-specific, and doesn't relate to R/3 role. Mapping between CRM and R/3 is based ONLY on Classifications, Roles are not used.
You can think about BP Roles as of Screen Templates for comfortable maintenance of Role-depended data.
Are Validity Periods for BP Roles supported in CRM?
Currently it's not planned to add a validity to the role and we don't recommend to implement this, bacuse no processes support this validity check.
Are Validity Periods for BP Roles supported in CRM 5.0?
Yes, in CRM5.0 a validity of a role technically is realized. As in CRM4.0, still no process in CRM supports this validity. Therefore the possibility to maintain BP Roles in a timedependent way is deactivated in the CRM5.0 shipment. Though, under certain conditions this function can be activated. For further details see note 810634.
Is it possible to delete a Role from the BP?
    Generally speaking, No.
Even if it's technically possible, it should never be done.
    Explaiantions and reasons are following:
First of all, as it was explained above, this is not a characteristic of a BP, so it's not just some field value, which technically can be stored and then changed anytime.
Technically, Role is a dynamical link to the group of BP subscreens in the table BUT100, this is an only place where this Role is presented phisycally. This value is not shown anywhere, and used only by a transaction BP for internal purposes.
But even after usage of some solution for doing it, nothing can prevent automatical detection. That means, if you maintain some BP data, which is enough for some particular role, this role will be marked as "maintained" anyway.
This is not an only side effect, which can not be resolved. Please remember, that actual BP Data is not changed by changing a Role. That means, that after deleting of a Role, which provides an access to some Role-specific data, this data won't be deleted, just hided from user in transaction BP.
In this case, when some program will request for this data, it will receive it without a problem, and potentially this program can determine this BP incorrectly.
Also, when somebody switch a Role for this BP to the "deleted", already maintained data will "suddenly" appear. The same can happen, if this data is shared between several BP Roles (like Sales Area data for Ship-to party and Sold-to Party) - after switching to another Role, data for "deleted" Role will appear again.
Is it possible to delete a Role from the BP in CRM5.0?
    Yes.
In the BP maintenance in transaction BP there is a function to delete Roles from the BP. Removing a Role from a BP means deletion of the corresponding record from table BUT100, whereas using the time dependency of the BP Role and limiting the validity of a Role to a past date just changes the attribut value in table BUT100 without physical deletion of the Role from this table.
Given the above described consequences by deleting a Role and accessing the Role-relevant data of the BP afterwards, the difference between deletion and restriction of the Roles' validity becomes obvious.
Note, that Roles, which are not updated in table BUT100 (such as technical Role "BP General") can't be deleted.
Will changes of a BP in CRM5.0 still be exchanged with R/3 after deletion of BP Role "Sold-To Party"?
    Yes.
The BP Role just becomes importance concerning data exchange with R/3 whilst creation of the BP for defaulting the corresponding Sales Classification-flag, but itself doesn't influences data such as the BPs' Account Group etc.
For the same reason restriction of the validity of a Role to the past there are no consequences concerning data exchange as well.
We don't need a "BP General" role. Is it possible to hide it, or to change according to our requirements?
    NO.
"Business Partner (general)" is a technical role, which is required for internal needs of CRM system. Despite the fact, that there's a solution in Note 507748, which allows to customizize this role, it shouldn't be done!
For further details see Note 533396.
CreationBP in Role, different from "BP (general)" is strange. Sometimes data is lost, and strange popup appears.
    Read the popup message carefully.
Why Classification is not assigned automatically when I change a BP
Role? It works during creation of BP.
During creating of a BP in some standard Role, Classication is assigned automatically as well. How can it be done for custom-defined Role?
This behaviour is hardcoded for standard Roles, so it can't be customized. But you can define a standard Role as a Higher-level for your own custom-created Role using transaction BUSD. In this case, when BP is created in your custom-defined role, a standard Higher-level Role will be maintained automatically, and correponded Classification will be assigned also.
Will Classification be assigned automatically when creating BP in a custom-defined Role in CRM5.0?
Yes, this easily can be done. As in CRM5.0 there is a distinction between the Role itself and the Role category (in which SAP applications and customer programs as well can use the Role category on which is hardcoded), any custom-defined Role assigned to Role category "Sold-To Party" can be used to create a BP in and automatically assign Classification. This is because the automatic assignment of Classification uses the Role category, not the Role.
For further information see note 873055.
If CRM BP Role has so less functionality in CRM, why I need it?
An only place where BP Role is used is BP Master Data Maintenance.
WhenBP is created in some basic Role, some predefined hardcoded values will be maintained automatically (like Classification).
Another purpose is to separate BP Data between logical Screen Containers, which make BP Maintenance more comfortable. You can hidesome fields, group them differently, and make some values mandatory according to the Role, in which BP is currently displayed.

I don't understand your doubt either, but I will assume you are talking about the BP role (partner function).
By default the customers from ERP are created in CRM with the sold-to party role, this is the standard behaviour,  if you want to replace that logic  to use a specific role or even add another role you must add a custom FM to the middleware event table for BPs, you will find lot of information about this if you search a little.
    Cheers!

  • KM in erp pre-stage

    Hi
i am a student and my master thesis is about enhancing the erp implementation process by using knowledge management tools before the erp implementation process starts.
but i cannot find relevant resource about type of requisite information and knowledge of the company that should be extracted.
i am looking forward to your help

    Building Power Through Knowledge Organization
The amount of information in organizations is increasing
exponentially, and much of it is unstructured u2013 documents on
department file servers, Web pages on subsidiary Web servers,
e-mail, groupware, and slide presentations, to name just a few
examples. These unstructured and often unmanaged resources
contain mission-critical knowledge that companies need to maximize
business advantage. The challenge is to transform that
information into organizational knowledge u2013 to bring it into the
    context of critical business processes.
The knowledge management capabilities of the SAP NetWeaveru2122
platform address this important challenge by structuring and
classifying the entire spectrum of unstructured content, making
it accessible to users and available for improving decision making.
The SAP® Enterprise Portal (SAP EP) component of SAP NetWeaver
delivers these knowledge management capabilities. SAP EP
provides you with a configurable set of connectors, repositories,
and services, including a full-featured search engine that makes
all unstructured information accessible to users. Moreover, integration
of such features with other capabilities of SAP NetWeaver
creates a role-driven network of information, collaboration,
analytics, and alert options across your organization.
    Creating Strategic Resources
    from Unstructured Information
The knowledge management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver
help you manage all facets of unstructured information u2013 from

    As the world becomes more
    data driven, information is
coming at you from all directions.
How can you leverage that information

Because knowledge management is a tightly integrated capability
of SAP NetWeaver, searching is not restricted to unstructured
information and can be extended to structured business content.
These search and classification mechanisms have already been
applied to other SAP solutions and will continue to be extended to
provide powerful search functions across a wide range of critical
    business information.
    Enabling Adaptability Through Open Extensions
There is an important principle for encouraging people to share
and reuse their knowledge actively: bring the knowledge to the
people rather than forcing them to go looking for the knowledge
they need. In other words, it makes sense to embed and adapt the
knowledge management approach in existing business processes,
user behavior, and system landscapes. Otherwise, you might end
up with isolated solutions that lack relevance and impact. The
knowledge management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver are built to
allow them to be adapted to the needs of your business and its
ever-growing set of processes. The knowledge management capabilities
of SAP NetWeaver enable you to:
u2022 Integrate existing information repositories through
preconfigured connectors to your existing information
repositories u2013 In addition to connectors available from SAP,
SAP partners provide connectors for their own repositories.
And SAP customers can build their own custom connectors
that are tailored to specific requirements.
u2022 Flexibly configure the user interface u2013 User interfaces for information
sharing need to be highly interactive; however, they
also need to reflect corporate design standards and unique user
requirements. For this reason, the knowledge management capabilities
of SAP NetWeaver provide a highly flexible user interface
that can be used out of the box, adapted to your needs by
configuration, or extended by Java coding.
u2022 Add new functions and services u2013 Your business may need additional
or slightly modified functions. Therefore, in addition to
repository and user interface adaptation, interfaces can be used to
modify existing functions or to create completely new functions
based on existing knowledge management services. Other SAP
solutions are already leveraging this capability to enhance their
applications with powerful knowledge management capabilities.
All of these enhancements can be accomplished either through
simple Web-based configuration or through integration into the
standard development infrastructure of SAP NetWeaver. The welldocumented
and released programming interfaces provided by
SAP ensure that extensions will still run smoothly after an upgrade.
    Relying on SAP NetWeaver
    for Role-Based Access and Integration
Typically, your users have the greatest need for well-managed
knowledge within the context of their current business tasks,
processes, or roles. Thus, knowledge management capabilities
must be embedded in the immediate vicinity of your core business
applications. Knowledge management, as a central component of
SAP NetWeaver and SAP EP, creates this context. As demonstrated
by the following examples, you can rely on the integration for
central user management, the proven portal role concept, and the
    applications powered by SAP NetWeaver:
u2022 The SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BI) component of SAP
NetWeaver makes information accessible by broadcasting
reports into portal components that expose knowledge
management interfaces u2013 making these reports available in an
integrated view along with information from other sources that
    are relevant for business analysis.
u2022 Because teamwork between users is one of the key factors in
successfully managing knowledge in organizations, the knowledge
management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver are tightly
linked with collaborative tools. Whenever users work together
on documents in a collaboration room, knowledge management
is involved u2013 and even here, applications within or on
top of SAP NetWeaver can be involved to enhance knowledge
management and collaboration within a business context.
    Managing Knowledge for Competitive Advantage
Organizations can use the knowledge management capabilities of
SAP NetWeaver to boost efficiency and overall business velocity by
enhancing the quality of relationships, thereby driving everyone
to maximize value across the entire enterprise with unprecedented
speed. In a world in which the time between identifying a problem
and finding its solution can spell success or failure, the knowledge
management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver bring the correct information
to the right people, thus increasing productivity and
    creating a smarter enterprise.

  • Creating Roles for Purchase Req. release strategy with classification

    Hi friends,
Since I have created Purchase req rel strategy where I have four release strategy
    1. For Plant 1 When value <= 5000 (Officer) will release , release code 01 release release strategy r1 and rel code L1
2 For Plant 1 When value >= 5000 (Manager) will release , release code 01 release release strategy r2and rel code L2
Now the manager will have 2 release code,if  officer is absent he could release the requisition.
Same has to be done for plant 2
The release Group and code needs to be assigned to the Roles , could anybody tell  me  where i could know about roles and will be able to create roles and assign authorisation objects to the Roles , and release group and code to the enduser.
though its a basis job , since I have no idea , I mean I have never worked with Roles ,as now I have created the Release strategy with classification I need to assign authorisation objects to the Roles as I have four release strategy
    1. For Plant 1 lower value of requisition 1 codeL1(Officer)
2  For higher value of requisition 2 code say Li and L2(Manager)
Manager should have 2 codes if  officer is absent he could release
Same has to be done for Plant 2
    Thanks N Regards
    Siddhartha

    Hii,
    Steps:
    1) Create a Role
    2) Add the authorization Object  M_EINK_FRG by taking the manual option
    3) Assign Release Code and Release Grp
    4) Assign the Role to the User ID which has the authorization of the Release Code and Grp.

  • Classification by role sales org  (prospect, customer, competitor).URGENT!!

    Hi All,
Could someone please help me in customizing the Classification by
    Classification customizing:
    - Role by sales organization (prospect, customer, competitor)
    - Ranking by country (gold, silver, normal, problematic)
This can be done in the IMG>Master Data>BP--> define classification.
The criteria should be role as Sales Org and ranking as Country with their respective attributes as mentioned above.
    Please help me guys!!!
U can also mail me at  [email protected]
    thanks in advance ....

    Hi Chin,
You need to maintain the sales organization field in transaction code O7F1.  Then, this field is available for open item selection on incoming payment.
In the same screen, you can rearrange and bring this field on the first few fields of selection.
Also, you can update the same field on O7F3, this will be useful for making search for selection of open items.
Hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any questions.

  • USMM - License Classification on Derived Roles

    Hello,
I want to assign license type by roles and we're currenlty using the derived role approach in our SAP systems. Is there a way to assign license type to the master role and have it show in the USER CLASSIFCATION report in transaction USMM. I noticed that if  I assign the license type to the master no user shows up with a licens type on the report however if I assign the license type to the child role the user ID shows up in the report with the assigned license type.  I realized in order for a user ID to show up with a license type a role need to be assign to the user ID. I'm wondering if the same can be done but to the master role instead without having to update each child role with a license type in the system.
    -Wes

    Hi
Well...what an eye-opener that one was. It does seem to make sense if you've got a standard set of derived composite roles rolled out across multiple sites if you could then classify the parent composite role for USMM, read the correct charge based on the link to the derived composite via AGR_DEFINE (I'm guessing this is the bit that's not yet working).
(edited) Old age made me say a daft thing - I can't create a parent/derived composite   but it still looks good (edited)
A user moves jobs within the organisation was a cat 71 and became a cat 72 then the removal/assignment of composite roles takes care of license type too. Trouble is, I've found it common practice for admin to add new roles and forget to remove (outgoing manager problems). But, then again our poor administrator in GSD had a miserable time trying to work out who did what and which license they should have
Thanks once again for the LICENSE_ATTRIBUTES help - very much appreciated.
    Cheers

  • Customer replication from R/3 to CRM as BP's in install at role

    Hi experts,
Customer's already exist in our ECC system. In CRM, we need to create the ECC customer;s as BP in install at role. From some ot the previous threads, I found that PIDE transaction can be used. Can anyone explain me the steps clearly for creating the BP's in CRM correpsonding to the R/c customer. I don't want to replicate them as BP's in ECC.

    Hi,
    You have done important steps.
You have to check all relevant functional modules are available in the table.
Then, you have to maintain/delete entries based on standard document.
Make sure all Queue is available with system users, right RFC and the queue is registered.
Make sure all the RFC connections are created and working properly.
You have to generate the objects.
Please check some of the above steps .

  • Transfer customer specific Roles assigned to a customer from R/3 to CRM

    Hello dear all,
on R/3 side there are customer specific roles defined and assigned to customers. These roles are sales area depending.
On CRM side we plant to uses the Employee Responsible relationship to build up these customer specific roles. To differentiate these roles we want to use the partner function which is assigned to the sales area.
Can anybody show me how to do the initial load of the CRM system and map the role to the Employee Responsible relationship?
I assume that I have to create a own mapping function module to realize this. Where do  I register this function module so it will be used during the initial load? How do I debug these functionality?
A similar functionality we have to build up in case of the upload to the R/3 system. There we have map the Employee Responsible relationship to the specific role and assign it to the customer. Where do I register this function module?
    Thanks for your help!
    Best regards
    Michael

    hi
In order to replicate the ECC customer to CRM customer the following steps (tips) might be helpful to you:
First a Mapping structure should exist between business partners in SAP CRM and ERP ECC Customers in both the directions. In the ERP ECC system you can see this mapping using transaction /nPIDE
You should create your own account group for the data transfer from SAP CRM to ERP ECC
In SAP CRM, the roles sold-to party, ship-to party, bill-to party and payer are assigned to the classification Customer and the customer is assigned to exactly one account group in ERP ECC
For consistent distribution of Business Partners with identical numbers in both the systems, the internal number range (ex. 1-5999) should correspond to an external number assignment in the ERP ECC system or vice versa. Thus a business partner is given the same number in both systems.
For data exchange to be successful, you must ensure that the field control (mandatory fields) between the CRM system and the ERP system matches.
Besides Both SAP CRM and SAP ECC can talk to each other only when there is some settings done in the middleware. And for the CRM only a small plugin is needed for the ERP/ECC Connectivity.
Now whenever you have both the system mapped then if you create a BP in CRM it will automatically flow in the ERP System. And also the vice versa. As for the roles are concerned, the roles like ship-to-party and some few specific roles are mapped in ECC system. For a complete look at roles matching have a look at the following link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm50/helpdata/en/52/cff837a9aae651e10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm
Once you have created a BP in CRM it will be created in some Account group in ECC. And in that AC GRP you will be not be able to create the Customer with identical ID. So if your systems are connected then even manually you also cannot create same BPs.
And for all of these the PIDE settings in ECC needs to be maintained properly.
    Hope it serves your purpose
    best regards

  • RuntimeException while Role Mining (OIA integration with Waveset)

    HI All...
I would appreciate some help with the following, If anybody has any ideas.... plz.
My Appologies if it is in the wrong category but there is no Identity Analytics category.
    My PoC Environment consists of
    Vm #1
    Centos 5.5 (64bit)
    JDK 1.6.0_25 (64bit)
    Oracle Waveset 8.1.1 patch 4 (145769-05)
    MySql (5.0.77)
    Oracle Glassfish 3.1.1 (Zip Distro)
    VM #2
    Centos 5.5 (64Bit)
    JDK 1.6.0_25 (64bit)
    Oracle Identity Analytics 11.1.1.3.6 (p12831135)
    MySql (5.0.77)
    Apache Tomcat 6.0.32
    VM #3
    Centos 5.5 (64Bit)
    JDK 1.6.0_25 (64bit)
    MySql (5.0.77)
All components are installed and configured as described in their respective documentation. Waveset and Analytics each have their own repository locally and the 3rd VM contains a database with 2x Tables (each configured as a resource in Waveset). Table 1x - 32 000 entries, Table 2x 45 000 entries.
Integration was configured and tested successfully.
From a Waveset side the Accounts contained in the 2x Tables have be reconciled with Waveset and shows up as expected. Column mapped, and users on direct resource assignments (No Roles yet...)
From an Analytics side I have done the following:
    1. Import the same Business Structure that was used in Waveset into Analytics using csv import.
    2. Import the Global Users from Waveset using the configured provisioning server instance.
    3. Import the Resource Metadata from Waveset.
    4. Import the Resources from Waveset.
    5. Import the Accounts from Waveset.
Up to this point this all completed successfully.
I ran some custom SQL updates to link the Global Users to the relevant Business Structure (bu_globalusers table) as this was not done during the import. (even thou waveset.organization maps to RMBUname and customproperty1) but no matter.
If I log into Analytics I can go to the Identity Warehouse and see the Business Structure, see the Users assigned to a Business Structure and the Accounts linked to that user.
I can go to Resources and see the Attributes defined under each, as well as sample search results when I select an attribute.
I modified the WEB-INF/rolemining-context.xml: <property name="roleminingAccountThreshold" value="*50000*"/> to allow for the number of records in the database tables during role mining.
I configured the Resource type for one of the resources to have one of the attributes minable. I then went and scheduled a Role Mining Task to mine that resource.
The task ran with the following result:

  • Renumbering with ACL-Friendly Role-Based Addressing or...?

We are a mid-sized manufacturing firm operating out of three locations and we are in the process of making plans to restructure and renumber our networks so as to better facilitate automated configuration management and security, in addition to easing our deployment of IPv6.  Currently, at each site the L3/L2 boundary resides at the network core, but increasing traffic/chatter has us considering moving the L3/L2 boundary to the access layer(s), which consist of 3560-X units in the wiring closets that are supporting edge devices either directly or via 8-port 3560-C compact switches in the further reaches of our manufacturing and warehouse spaces.
As we contemplate moving to a completely routed network, the big unknown we're struggling with is whether or not it is safe or even desirable to abandon ACL-friendly addressing, and whether, in doing so, we can expect to run into hardware limitations resulting from longer ACLs.
Currently, each of our site-wide VLANs gets a subnet of the form 10.x.y.0/24, where x identifies the site and y identifies the class of equipment connected to said VLAN.  This allows us to match internal traffic of a given type with just a single ACE, irrespective of where the end-point device resides geographically.  Moving L3 routing decisions out to the access switches will require that we adopt smaller prefix assignments, with as many as 8 distinct subnets on each of our standard-issue 3560CG-8PC compact switches.  Why so many, you ask?  We currently have more than 30 ACL-relevant classifications of devices/hosts - a number that will only grow with time, and to maximize the availability of all services, it is our policy to physically distribute edge devices of a given class (eg. printers, access points, etc) over as many access switches as possible.
From what I can see, we have three options, each of which present trade-offs in terms of management complexity and address utilization efficiency:
Option 1: Stick with ACL-friendly addressing, both for IPv4 and IPv6, and allocate uniform prefixes to each access switch.  For IPv4, within the 10.0.0.0/8 block we would probably allocate 8 bits to the site ID (/16), followed by 6 bits as the switch ID (/22), and 7 bits to identify the equipment/host classification (/29), for a maximum of 5 available addresses for a given class of devices on a given access switch.  For IPv6, assuming we have a /48 block for each site, we would use the first two bits to identify the type of allocation, the following 6 as the switch ID (/56), and the following 8 as the equipment/host classification (/64).
Option 2: Abandon ACL-friendly addressing and dynamically allocate standard-sized prefixes from a common pool to each VLAN on a given switch.  The advantages of this approach are increased utilization efficiency and more addresses available within each VLAN, but it comes at the cost of non-summarizable routing tables and ACLs, and even if the hardware can handle this, it means we're talking about a more complex configuration management system and less ease in troubleshooting problems.
Option 3: Do something similar to option 1, but with the L2/L3 boundary positioned at the distribution layer rather than the access layer.  I'm disinclined to go this route, as it seems to require the same, if not more, management complexity than we'll encounter with option 1, with only marginal benefits over keeping things the way they are currently (L2/L3 boundary at the network core).
Thoughts?  What issues have we neglected to consider?  No matter which approach we select, it shall be assumed that we will be building a system to track all of these prefix assignments, provision switches, and manage their configurations.  From a standpoint of routing protocols, we would probably be looking at OSPFv2/v3.  It can also be assumed that if we encounter legacy devices requiring direct L2 connectivity to one another that we already have ways of bridging their traffic using external devices, so as far as this discussion is concerned, they aren't an issue.
Thanks in advance for your ideas!
    -Aaron

    Hi David,
Permissions based on GUI components is a simple & neat idea. But is it rugged? Really secure? It might fall short of Grady Booch's idea of Responsibilities of objects. Also that your Roles and Access components are coupled well with Views!!!!!!!
My suggestion regarding the Management Beans is only to do with the dynamic modification which our discussion was giong forward.
If we go back to our fundamental objective of implementing a Role based access control, let me put some basic questions.
We have taken the roles data from a static XML file during the start up of the container. The Roles or Access are wanted to be changed dynamically during the running of the container. You would scrutinize the changes of Roles and access before permission during the case of dynamic modification.
Do you want this change to happen only for that particular session? Don't you want these changes to persist??? When the container is restarted, don't you want the changes to stay back?
If the answer to the above is YES(yes I want to persist changes), how about doing a write operation(update role/access) of the XML file and continue your operation? After all, you can get the request to a web or session bean and keep going.
If the answer to the above is NO(no, i don't want to persist), you can still get the change role request to a web or session bean and keep going.
Either way, there is going to be an intense scrutiny of the operator before giving her permissions!!!
One hurdle could be that how to get all neighbouring servers know about the changes in roles and access??? An MBean or App Server API could help you in this.
May I request all who see this direction to pour in more comments/ideas ? I would like to hear from David, duffymo, komone and jschell.

  • Mapping Z account group in ERP to Z BP role in CRM

    Hi all,
We have a scenario where we need to download customers created in custom account groups into CRM and map them to Business Partners in Custom BP Role. With PIDE settings, you can only map a Account Group to a CRM classification. This classification is mapped to a standard BP Role in CRM. We also tried to implement the note 914437. But the code given in this note doesn't work as desired. If anyone has implemented this scenario and/or used this SAP note, please advise me on the solution approach.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Karthik

    Hi Krishna,
I have the same required as yours.
    I implemented the note 914437.
I noticed two peculiar cases from the standard mapping i.e. (standard BP Role sold to party)
    1) In BP transaction, in Display in BP Role drop down list box there is no custom BP Role as shown above but if I select the detail Icon I can find it there as shown in below screen shot.
    2) I found in Tx BP there is only one BP Role as shown above but in CRM Web UI there are two BP Roles in the ROLEs assignment block.
Could you please add your comments or solution for it.
    Thanks,
    Raja

  • BP - default and check classification data at CREATE/SAVE using BDT + BADI

    Hi,
I do have several requirements around Business Partners and BDT.
    1. When a BP is created, I want to default certain fields depending on what BP role is maintained, specifically I am looking at fields on the classification tab (BDT application CRMD).
--> I do not want to use transaction variants.
--> I want to use the BDT or implement a BADI (which I don’t think does exist)
    2. When a BP is saved, I want to check whether certain fields have certain values – depending on the BP role.
--> Field selection is not sufficient.
--> I tried using the BDT calling own function modules at different events – without success. When I call function module CRM_BUPA_FRG0040_GET_DETAIL to get current classification data at DCHCK, structure ls_frg0040 is not updated yet.
At a later event I can not stop the save.
Is there a way to force an update of memory, so that function module CRM_BUPA_FRG0040_GET_DETAIL returns current values.
--> I also tried BADI BUPA_FURTHER_CHECKS, but it is not called at all.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
Can anyone send me the BDT cookbook at [email protected]?
    Thanks in advance,
    Juergen

    Hi Juergen,
From the BADI stand-point (and assuming dialog usage).
    1/ You have:
BUPA_INITIAL_SCREEN  "Initial Screen for BP creation"
You should even be able to set a particular tab to which you want to navigate and then fill in the relevant fields, prior to having the screen completely painted.
    2/ You have badi's"
    A - PARTNER_UPDATE "Business Partner"
    and
    B - BUPA_GENERAL_UPDATE  "Business Partner General Data"
when performing updates to the partner.
Looking at the call stack (reading bottom-up) these BADIs are called a the points shown, both with the change-before-update method:
    --> B
    10 GENERAL_BADI_CALL
    9 BUP_BUPA_EVENT_DSAVE
    8 EVENT_DSAVE
    7 BDT_DATA_SAVE
    6 SAVE_GLOBAL_MEMORY
    5 SAVE_GLOBAL_MEMORY
    --> A
    4 COMMIT_MAINTENANCES
    3 TAKE_OVER_AND_SAVE
    2 TAKE_OVER_AND_SAVE_AND_RELOAD
    1 ON_SAVE

  • Enable / disable classification fields in material master?

    Hi experts
We hope to assign one group who could change the matieral master fields on classification.
Like one gropu who could change the classification fields- date, on mateiral master . others only could display
Is that possible to modify the program to enable or disable one field ?
Now we have mm02 for normal user and zmm02 for specific user.
    Thanks
    ALice

    Hi
When you create a role with transcation MM01, the Authorisation objects related to Classification are inherited from the transaction.
If you want to give the user only diplay options maintain the Activities as 03 for the authorisation object C_KLAH_BKL & give the Class Type Z01.
For the Chracteristics (Class maintenance)in the authorisation object C_TCLS_MNT maintain Activity 03 & Class type Z01
Similarly create another role & assign it to the user whco is authorised to create or chnage values, Give hm the activiies 01,02 & the class type Z01.
I feel that there is no requiremnt of changing the Program, as the authorisation objects are laready available.
    Thanks & Regards

  • BW authorizations based on assigned PPM users/roles + inherited roles

    Dear experts,
We using PPM 5.0 SP7, and we are having trouble defining authorizations for BW reports.
We would like to use the same authorizations as in PPM business client, so that BI would use/check the authorization from business client.
    This check would include:
    - users or roles gain access from direct assignment to an item
    - users or roles gain access that is inherited in the bucket structure, both structure and classification buckets.
Users would have access to BW reports, but they could see data only from the same structures/classifications or direct assignments that are given to them in PPM business client.
Can we utilize the same authorization methods, or do we need to create and maintain this in another place (BW)?
If needed, how to create similar authorization model to BW?
    Kind regards,
