BPEL Interaction Pattern - Using JMS as the medium

Objective : Make one MAIN Business Process out of BPEL that would receive the Message from Userinput or some other source and finally after doing all operations inside BPEL process (that would happen using BPEL Sub processes that exchange data using JMS send and receive inside the different queues ). Finally the MAIN Business Process would receive the response from BPEL sub process send it to Database at the end. We would like to develop a single BPEL process that would represent a Business Process say like Order Create and internally we would invoke various Sub BPEL process to work on the payload and give a handshake using JMS as the medium rather than another BPEL process makes a direct handshake to the invoking/calling process.
Steps Attempted :
a) BPEL Process receives the message from Input (User input of Purchase Order) and do some transformation later publish the message to Queue by configuring JMS Adapter to Produce it. Next step inside the same BPEL process tries to receive it using the JMS Adapter to consume it. It keeps waiting forever without consuming the message
b) BPEL Process (A) receives the message from (User input of Purchase Order) and do some transformation later send the message to another BPEL Process (B) that would receive the input message. BPEL Process B writes into the Queue using JMS Adapter. In this case also BPEL Process (A) configured to receive the message from the QUEUE where the BPEL PRocess B has sent. BPEL Process A waits for the message to arrive for ever.
Some behaviours we noticed ,
1) Queue messages are being dequeued (JMX Browser in OEM shows no messages). But BPEL console shows the BPEL Process A is waiting for it to arrive. I believe it is consuming the message but unable to kickoff from receive (JMS activity) activity configured in the BPEL.
2) We ensured that no other BPEL Process is consuming by creating a new Queue by name DemoQueue4 that would be used by the BPELProcess A and BPEL Process B.
3) BPEL Process A and BPEL Process B are ASYNCHRONOUS Process. BPEL Process B receives the input and writes into the Queue does not call back to BPEL Process A. BPEL Process A would listen to the Queue to receive it inside the BPEL Process A.
Am I trying something architecturally not possible ?
Thanks
Nags.

You can register any compliant JMS provider as a foreign jms provider in weblogic and then can access the JMS administered objects (destination and connection factory) from the local weblogic JNDI tree.
This blog shows how to configure AQJMS as a foreign JMS provider and then configure JMS adapter to access the jms objects.
http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/07/using-aq-jms-text-message-in-wls-1031.html
You can use the above link as a reference on how to setup. You will have to modify the Initial Context Factory, Provider URL, JNDI Properties, foregin connection factories and foreign detsinations section to suit activeMQ.
Note: Weblogic does not come inbuild with the required jars to connect to ActiveMQ unlike AQJMS, so you need to ensure that the active mq jms client jars are available in the weblogic's classpath.

  • SOAP - Why not use JMS as the transport layer?

    I have been looking at the SOAP standard and can't understand
    why something hasn't been done. I wondered if someone could help.
    With the current Apache SOAP implementation there is a SOAP
    Transport interface which is implemented for SMTP and HTTP. The
    format of the messages never changes. Although it is not a
    protocol it seems eminently sensible to me that there should be
    a JMS implementation. Then infrastructure bridging cold be used
    to give a universal message queueing standard.
    Being as the current standard supports asynchronous messaging
    over SMTP. It seems to be a trivial matter to add to the SOAP
    implementation that Oracle supply. Does anyone have any good
    reason why it shouldn't be done and is there any reason Oracle
    and other standards body members couldn't have implemented it
    and agreed it in the standard?

    Am I missing something? I wasn't thinking of embedding JMS
    messages over HTTP, but using JMS itself. This would provide an
    industry standard for message queueing message formats, and
    would allow interaction with any message queueing product
    through bridges (i.e. OMB, with no real work). Aren't you
    talking about something different?

  • Captivate 4, interaction SWF using XML and the Reviewer tool Problem

    Hello everyone!
    I am an advanced AS3er and am only months old working with Captivate 4. I've found some cool ways to use Captivate and incorporating swfs that use CSS and XML for their dynamic content builder and interactivity as well. However, I've run into a problem:
    The Reviewer tool will NOT display my swf interactions that use XML, however when published as a course, I can see them perfectly fine (once I move over my css and xml folders after publishing)
    Has anyone found a work around for this problem?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Not sure if you want to control the audio used in Captivate of if you want to control you own audio form files loaded externally. If you try to control the audio associated with captivate, believe me it will be a mess. I tried it once and hit so many hurdles that I gave up. The Captivate framework is not meant at all for extending and adding functionality. I had to to create proxy classes that allowed me to gain access to internal variable but even then my control over audio streams was incomplete. Captivate completely lacks an eventing framework!
    On an other subject, can you tell me how you got the swf to use the CSS and XML files? Do you have to manually copy them to a folder? Which folder?
    Thanks,
    Yves

  • Strategy Pattern, Am i on the right Track?

    The question:
    Design a small, prototype, application, which creates, stores and amends warehouse records. This may have little more than a StockItem class.
    Using each of the patterns Strategy, Decorator, Adaptor and in turn provide three different adaptations to your prototype application which will enable a user to view the warehouse records in at least three different ways, e.g. by location, alphabetically, by value, by quantity in stock, as continuous plain text, as formatted text, in a list pane, as a printout etc

    Each interface have four concrete classes
    Need your comments Please?

    But my questions is Am i on the right track applying

    "> Using each of the patterns Strategy, Decorator,
    Adaptor and in turn provide three different
    adaptations to your prototype application which will
    enable a user to view the warehouse records in at
    least three different ways, e.g. by location,
    alphabetically, by value, by quantity in stock, as
    continuous plain text, as formatted text, in a list

    public interface StockItemFilter
        List<StockItem> filter(List<StockItem> unfilteredStockItems);
    }Now you'll pass in an unfiltered List of StockItems and return the List of appropriate StockItems filtered alphabetically, by location, etc. If you want to combine the fetching of StockItems with filtering, replace the unfiltered List with some Criterion.
    Your ViewByLocationBehavior doesn't seem to accept any input or return anything. What good is it?

    Is it possible to add highlighted text in an iBooks interactive textbook using VoiceOver?

    The only way you can add read aloud to an ibook is by using easy epub code editor. (Go to itunes and look it up). This app works on the ipad and is the ONLY app that can generate smil/xml code for read aloud. The only thing is that you cannot use it on anything but a raw epub file. You cannot use it with ibooks author or with any other file. Hope this helps.

  • How  to Set JMS property and Read JMS property in BPEL using JMS adapter

    Does any one know how to set or read more than one JMS property in BPEL using JMS adapter. My queue server is Oracle JMS server.
    Any help and sample is well appreciated

    Hi Van
    I have noted that only the attribute "type" is missing. It seems that when you create a "string" property, the attribute "type" is droped from the XML. If you use another type (as "integer" or "double") it stays there.
    If you try to read your properties, except for the "type" attribute, you should be successful, as I am. If you need, please tell me your email, I can send you my code.

  • Polling messages based on priority in BPEL using JMS adapter

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to poll the messages based on the priority in BPEL using JMS adapter?
    I could set the priority for the messages but while polling it is picking the messages in FIFO(First in First out) order. But I want the messages to be picked on priority.Any help is appreciated.

    Do you only want to pick up messeges with a certain priority? So anything larger than say priority 2?
    You can try this: Oracle JCA Adapter for JMS - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5.0)
    Message SelectorThis field is also optional. It filters messages based on header and property information. The message selector rule is a Boolean expression. If the expression is true, then the message is consumed. If the expression is false, then the message is rejected.For example, you can enter logic, such as:
    JMSPriority > 3. Based on this, messages with a priority greater than 3 are consumed; all other messages are rejected.
    JMSType = 'car' AND color = 'blue' AND weight > 2500
    Country in ('UK', 'US', 'France')

But the em console is showing only the composite instance number. when I opened composite instance, I could see all the bpel process with instance number in the audit trail. How can I find the the actual composite instance number that I should search for in the em console ???

  • How can I delete the TemporaryTopic using JMS C API or VC++

    Hello everybody,
    how can I delete the TemporaryTopic after created TemporaryTopic using JMS C API "JmsSessionCreateTemporaryTopic"?
    I checked the document about JMS C API, but I couldn't find any API for delete TemporaryTopic, it's really not existing?
    Or if there's any other way that I can delete TemporaryTopic using VC++? Any comments will be appreciated.
    Thanks for your help!
    Youbing he

    As far as I can tell, there's no C-API option for deleting a temporary topic other than to close the connection used to create the temporary topic. Note that it is inefficient to frequently create and destroy temporary topics.
    You can get pretty much equivalent performance and functionality with a shared regular topic, non-durable subscriptions, and selectors that take advantage of the "indexed subscriber" optimization. (Consumers specify a selector that is unique to them in the exact form of "MyUniqueID NOT NULL", while publishers send to a specific consumer by adding "MyUniqueID" as a message property. The "X NOT NULL" selector format activates the indexed subscriber optimization.)

    How can we send only one message to a WCF service at a time? How we can limit the number of concurrent calls to a WCF service without use the Singleton pattern or without do the change in BizTalk Configuration file? Can we do it by Host throttling?

    Hi Pawan,
    You need to use WCF-Custom adapter and add the ServiceThrottlingBehavior service behavior to a WCF-Custom Locations.
    ServiceThrottlingBehavior.MaxConcurrentCalls - Gets or sets a value that specifies the maximum number of messages actively processing across a ServiceHost. The MaxConcurrentCalls property specifies the maximum number of messages actively
    processing across a ServiceHost object. Each channel can have one pending message that does not count against the value of MaxConcurrentCalls until WCF begins to process it.

    I would like to embed interactive widgets in iBooks using iBookAuthor. The widgets in question started life in Java but GWT has allowed them to be converted to javascript and to run on web pages (for example, http://softoption.us/content/node/437 scroll to the bottom). In theory, iBookAuthor can bring in most html5, and much javascript. The technique is to wrap the html in a folder, with 2 extra files, a plist and a default png and then change the extension of the folder to ‘.wdgt’. This is the technique for making Dashboard widgets for the Mac, and Apple even have the Dashcode software to do it. So what you really do is to make a Dashboard widget, then iBookAuthor can import it.  So far, so good. And some  folk have been doing this, for example http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/2/prweb9242432.htm http://www.panophoto.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=10417&p=158330#p158423 However, if you start with GWT and create a single page with one button and a Hello World, compile it, and get the WAR file (I use Eclipse here)… the Safari browser and others will run it properly (even on an iPad). Then if you wrap it, a proper Dashboard widget is created, which runs properly on a Mac. Then if you go to iBookAuthor and put a custom widget in the Text, then drag it in. It is accepted by the text and shown as being there. However, if you use Preview to look at it on an iPad, it is gone (or was never there in the first place). Anyone any ideas on this? [And iBook Author seems to give no warnings.] The widget is at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/46713473/Test6.wdgt.zip I have bells and whistles that I’d like to get into an iBook!
    Thanks for any insights.
    Martin

    I do have a little to add, which might help someone. Indeed, opening a blank page and dragging the widget straight in seems good in difficult cases. But, actually, I was also able to insert successfully from the Toolbar especially to blank pages. So, it may have been something to do with the columns and stuff like that. Anyway back then the insertion would show in iBooks Author but not in the Preview on the iPad. I moved on to actual Google Web Toolkit output javascript. Basically I had three at hand to try: a Hello World with a button which went straight it, one of moderate complexity, (for example with a built in Lisp interpreter), which also went straight in, and finally a more complex one that initially was rejected by iBook Author. Author complained that there was an unsupported media file (of course, Author does not tell you which one it is, that would be too easy). [Remember, this was a proper working Dashboard widget which could be installed on a Mac]. Among other things I had read remarks about .gif files. When looking through the GWT war directory at the actual javascript etc files, I noticed there were two gifs there one called ‘clear.cache.gif ‘  and a second one called  ‘0F89659FF3F324AE4116F700257E32BD.cache.gif’. (Now, there is obfuscation so the numbers here may be different from case to case.) The clear.cache.gif did not seem to be anything special. But the other one is an animation. It is three little boxes that twinkle (rather like a waiting spinning cursor).  So, I opened that file and saved it to itself (that picks the top frame of the animation and saves only that, leaving you with an unanimated gif). The resulting widget drags and drops into iBooks Author (and seems to work properly at a quick glance). So, if you are having trouble with ‘unsupported media files’ converting animated gifs into unanimated gifs might help in some cases.

  • How to set input/output "use" attribute in the WSDL file of BPEL process?

    Hello,
    I have a BPEL process that I want to deploy it as an RPC web service. I want to access it from a Java module (via an automatic generated Java stub from the WSDL file exposed by the BPEL process).
    I wrote manually the corresponding WSDL file for my BPEL process, where I stipulated for the operations exposed by my process ( in <soap:binding> tag) the value of the attribute "style" to "rpc". Also, for each <input> and <output> of the operations (inside the <operation> tag), I set manually the attributes "use" to the values "encoded". Something like this:
    <operation name="getCustomers">
    <soap:operation style="rpc" soapAction="getCustomers"/>
    <input>
    <soap:body use="encoded" encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" namespace="Trial"/>
    </input>
    <output>
    <soap:body use="encoded" encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" namespace="Trial"/>
    </output>
    </operation>
    The issue is that, when the BPEL process is built and deployed, the WSDL file generated automatically by BPEL (based on the one manually writen) set the values of the "use" attributes to "literal". This is what is generated:
    <operation name="getCustomers">
    <soap:operation style="rpc" soapAction="getCustomers" />
    <input>
    <soap:body use="literal" namespace="http://acm.org/samples" />
    </input>
    <output>
    <soap:body use="literal" namespace="http://acm.org/samples" />
    </output>
    </operation>
    Is there any chance to keep the original values (written by hand) for the "use attributes?
    Many thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Marinel

    I am not sure I understand your question. If you want all your BPEL service to be rpc still by default, you can change the templates: C:\eclipse\plugins\bpelz_0.9.XXX\templates.
    The BPEL PM engine support both style of invocation.
    I hope this helps. -Edwin
