BPM - Exception handling in multiline mapping

Hi,
I have in a BPM a block with processing mode ParForEach containing a transformation and then a send step.
If the transformation (mapping) generates an exception for one of the lines of the multiline variable being processed, no subsequent lines are passed to the send step.
I want the process to execute the mapping for each line and then send messages corresponding to lines without error. How can I do?
Thank you
Simona

Hi Simona,
I also feel that Michal had suggested the correct solution. Not sure why you are saying that the error gets propagated, if you have defined a proper Exception handling for the inner block.
But regarding your design for "ParForEach", I am not sure whether you really need to carry out a transformation step for each Block instance, in which case you can keep the transformation step before the "ParForEach" block.

  • BPM Exception Handling control step

    Hi,
    Does anybody have any idea, whats the variable we need to pass in the control step of exception handling  in BPM? and how to map the error message back to the RFC Response.
    I had Transformation step, in that mapping is also there.
    Is there any ideas??.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

    Hi,
    The requirement was to send the exception that occured to a target (say file).
    <i>insert a block for the exception</i>
    You cannot place an exception step without a block right... thats what i mean by the above statement.
    Now, just after the exception has taken place, if i put a transformation step, and a send step, you will be taking care of sending the exception message to the target.
    <i>how to build the exception message ? It should map from what?</i>
    You could build a data type for the exception.
    In the mapping, you could map it to constants. For ex:
    if you build your DT as
    <excep>
    <code/>
    <desc/>
    </excep>
    You could map the description to a constant string "timeout".
    After this, the send step will send the message to the file, through the abstract interface that you create.
    Regards,
    Smitha.

    I am Seeing a Clock in my SXMB_MONI OUTBOUND_Status column, because I am expecting a TRANSPOT Response, and this going to never happen, so I thought the Deadline monitor will wakeup after 1 minute interval and my Exception branch has to Trigger, but it has never triggered my Deadline branch aswell as my Exception Branch.
    WE are in XI SP 12.  We dont have CCMS installed yet, even ALERT management is not installed.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks.

    Hi Anand,
    I looked into the Transaction SWI2_DEAD and I dont see any listings there.
    I am executing 1 Minute deadline Monitoring and from here firing an exception Branch, for my Asynchronous Scenario.
    So definitely after a minute , the DeadLine Branch should have been fired. But it didnot take place.
    In the mean time I have located an OSS notes OSS note 829921 And I am awaiting my Basis team to apply this note.
    symptom
    If the execution of an asynchronous method ends with a "system error" or "application error", the work item is not set to the 'ERROR' status.

    This problem is caused by a program error.
    Solution
    Implement the correction instructions.
    Note the following manual changes that must be implemented BEFORE you use SNOTE to implement the corrections:
    1. Make sure that the SET_EXECUTION_INTERRUPTED method of the CL_SWF_RUN_RESULT class has the following parameters:
    a) IM_CODE, Importing, Optional, Type SWO_RETURN, default Value 0000
    b) IM_ERRORTYPE, Importing, Optional, Type SWO_ERRTYP, Default Value 0
    Note the following manual changes, which you must carry out AFTER you have implemented the corrections:
    1. The M_EXECUTION_INTERRUPTED attribute type of the CL_SWF_RUN_RESULT class must be changed to EXECUTION_INTERRUPTED.

  • Exception Handling for Multi Mapping in bpm

    Hello,
    does anybody know a way of catching an error occured in a multi-mapping used in an integration process.
    It seems to me, that when i am using a multi-mapping in an integration process and an error occurs, the message cannot get back to the integration process. In smq2 I can see, that there is the following error:
    CX_MERGE_SPLIT
    Regards
    Günther

    The transformation-step is in an block with an exception branch and it is well configured.
    When I use a 1 to 1 mapping and an error in the mapping occurs, all is correct. The integration process jumps in to the exception branch and finishes  correct. But when use a multi mapping (1 to n; n to 1; n to m) and an error in the mapping occurs, then there is always an error in the bpe inbound queue.
    There must be some problem with the split-and-merge program. I think that the split-and-merge program handles the merging of n messages into 1. You can see this when you test a mapping in the integration builder designer. In a multi-mapping there you can see a xml-structure that envelopes the application messages, f. ex.:
    <ns0:Messages xmlns:ns0="http://sap.com/xi/XI/SplitAndMerge">
       <ns0:Message1>
          <myMessage1>data</myMessage1>
       </ns0:Message1>
       <ns0:Message2>
          <myMessage2>data2</myMessage2>
       </ns0:Message2>
    </ns0:Messages>

  • BPM Exception handling for RFC errors

    Hi all
    I have to handle the exception which would be like below:
    com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: could not get a client from JCO.Pool: com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to SAP gateway failed
    I am trying to put Block step and things are not working fine. Can anyone please explain me the steps to trap the exception?
    My scenario has synchronous call to RFC FM.
    Rightnow i have inserted Exception branch in my Block step and put the send step to write the error file.  I have put the Synchronous SEND step as part of block. This is not working.
    Help please??

    Hello Samuel,
    Just to close this thread and finish up my own search, where I met your discussion, here I'm quoting two experts of this forum:
    "you cannot catch the exception's value in the XI "
    (see posting from Michal Krawczyk, Jun 12, 2006, in thread catch the exception)
    "The content of a fault message are not accessible inside a BPM."

  • Regarding  Exception handling for  Value mapping

    Hi
    We have a requirement for resending the message (using  SXMB_MONI)for Value mapping and other message mapping related errors . Is there any others way we could achieve this , Any help on this is appreciated ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jishi

    Hi Jishi,
    I don't think that SXMB_MONI is the solution.
    If you have a mapping error this can belong to two things:
    a) either your mapping is wrong
    b) or your message is wrong.
    In case a) you have to correct your mapping
    In b) The sending system must look what happend.
    In my opinion in both cases (a & b) the process must be restartet from the source system. That's the way we do it.
    Additionally we send a information message in the exception branch to the sending system

  • Exception Handling (in Mapping) with out using BPM

    Hello All,
    We are on SP17. I have a simple flow involving XI
    JMS -> XI (Message Mapping -> XSL Mapping)  -> Mail

  • Catch mapping error message in BPM Exception branch

    Hi dudes,
    Does anyone know how to catch the mapping runtime error message into a BPM exception branch? I know how to create an exception branch and how to trigger it, but I wonder whether it's possible to pass the mapping error message as shown in SXI_MONITOR (i.e. 'Cannot create target element XXXXX. Values missing in queue context').
    Otherwise, everytime my BPM fails I will have to take the payload and run the mapping test in order to find out the reason of the error.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Paco

    Thanks,
    My problem is not about handling exception in BPM, but getting the mapping error description and then passing it to the exception branch.
    I can see in the workflow log that this info is contained into the Exception container EXCEPTIONS[2] / T100MSG:
    Message Class: SAI_MAPPING
    Message Number: 217
    Message Type: E
    Message Variable: com/sap/xi/tf/_<MM name>
    Message Variable: com.sap.aii.mappingtool.tf7.IllegalInstanceExcepti
    Message Variable: on: Cannot create target element /ns1:<path/field>.Message Variable: Values~
    The text in bold is the one I am interested in to be get and mapped into the exception branch.

  • Exception Handling Problem In BPM

    All
    I am facing an exception handling problem I am using BPM and , I have caught exception in the transformation step but when there is any data problem in that mapping(mentioned in the transformation)
    it is not throwing the exception . is there any option to collect these type of system exception in  the bpm and give a alert thru mail
    is there any way to collect these type of exception happened in the BPE and raise alert thru generic alert
    Thanks
    Jayaraman

    Hi Jayaraman,
        When you say there is any data problem, does that fail the message mapping that you have defined?
    If the message mapping used in the tranformation fails, it should raise an exception in the BPM.
    Did you test the message mapping using the payload and see if it really fails or not?

  • BPM Process - Exception handling or timeout issues?

    Hi Guys,
    I have a BPM process as below.
    1. Receive step: Receive the file with multiple transactions.
    2. Transformation step: Split the file into individual transactions
    3  Block step which includes  -- par for each mode
    1. Send Step (Synchronus): Each individual transaction needs to contact the 3rd party system and get the response. --  Do i need to handle any exceptions here  ?
    2. Container : Collect all the responses
    Block ends
    4. Transformation: combine all the responses in to a single file
    5. Send Step: synchronus -- send the above single file and get the response back
    6. Transformation : Transform the above response into the target structure.
    7.  Send: send the message asynchronusly to the target system
    I need suggestion regarding the exceptional handling or any time out issues, i need to take care of.
    any suggestions would be really appreciated
    Thanks,
    Raj

    Hi,
    I) For the Block holding the Sync Send, create an Exception Block. (right click on Sync Send -> Insert   -> Exception Branch)
    II) Name the Exception block (ex: exceptionHandler).
    III) in the Sync Send step ->Properties -> Exceptions -> in System Error - add exceptionHandler.
    IV) Now within the Exception handler block you can create containers to hold values from payload, throw exception as email etc).
    This will cover your sync send step incase there is an error while sending the request of a timeout during receiving the response.
    You can also do the same for the Step 7) Asycn send - if required.
    Another suggestion in your question Step 6) can be done outside the bpm, when you do the interface determination for that Asycn Send you can add the Interface mapping that will map the responses to the target structure.
    Doing this will reduce one step in your BPM. For further information in how more you can fine tune your bpm, read this blog - https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/5113. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    All the best.

  • Exception handling of Transport acknowledgement in asynchronous send in BPM

    HI,
    A silly question, but your help would be greatly appreciated..
    - I have a asynch send step in a BPM for sending data to the target system through RFC
    - It has acknoweledgement property of this send step is set to transport acknowledgement
    - The exception property of this send step is set to throw a 'RFCException'
    - This send step is inside a block
    - This block also has an Exception branch which catches this 'RFCException'
    - now my RFC channel failed for some known reason, but the flow never went into the Exception branch
    IS this behaviour of the 'transport acknowledgement' property of an asynch send step in BPM expected ?
    What should I take care so that if my RFC receiver channel throws an exception, the flow of my BPM goes to the exception branch ??

    - now my RFC channel failed for some known reason, but the flow never went into the Exception branch

    When an exception is caught by the Transport Acknowledgement it will trigger the Exception branch (if the send step is defined inside a Block with an Exception Branch)
    I think you have not defined (and then assigned) a proper Exception Handler for the Block.
    Click on the Block and define an Exception Handler......click on the Exception Branch and then select the Exception Handler from the dropdown......if this is not done then the Exception Branch wont be executed.....perform a check on your BPM in IR (using F7) you may get some warnings.

  • Exception handling branch not executing in BPM

    Hi all,
    We have a problem with exception handling in BPMs.
    We have created an exception branch in a block and a transformation step in it.  However, the branch doesn't get executed in case of exceptions.
    Any ideas?  Is this a known problem?
    Many thanks,
    Aldo

    Hi VJ,
    The exception name can only be selected from a list.  There is no chance of mistaking/misspelling in there.
    That is fine as it is.  I am quite sure about it.
    Any other ideas?
    I found SAP note 1039330 but we are already on patch 12 and that correction was released on patch 12.

  • 11g ADF TaskFlow Exception Handling in BPM

    Hi Guys
    BPM 11g
    I have a human task that is implemented as an ADF task flow. I would like to be able to throw an exception from the ADF application and have it handled by the BPM process, does anyone know if this is possible or how I would do that?
    At the moment I have an ADF error page - I could return an "error" outcome to the process from that but an error is an error and it feels right to show that in the process instead of a normal outcome.
    anyone else worked through this?
