Bringing cloud technology on-premises in Exchange Server 2016

Bringing cloud technology on-premises in Exchange Server 2016We’re excited to announce that Exchange Server 2016 Preview is now available for download. At Ignite, we introduced Exchange Server 2016 and demonstrated some of its capabilities. Now you can install the bits yourself and get hands-on experience with the newest member of the Exchange family. We’re eager to hear your feedback as we progress toward a final release later this year. This version of Exchange is special because it was born in the cloud. From the depths of the mailbox store to the most visible parts of the Outlook web UI, the bits that make up Exchange 2016 are already in use across millions of mailboxes in Office 365. For the past several months we’ve been working to package up these capabilities and deliver them on-premises. This preview milestone is an important...

Hi Sumesh,
1. Please make sure your mails are flowing correctly using XYZ.CO domain. Hope you have XYZ.ORG also created in Exchange.
2. Hope you already created the users in your Exchange2013 server and distribution groups for current users
3. You plan a weekend for changing your MX records.
4. Change MX and A records to a lower TTL days before the migration to decrease DNS update time on migration day
5. Export Hosted Exchange data for each user to PST files  using the PST capture tool and move your PSTs to a centralized location.
6. Change MX and A records to point to on-premises Exchange 2013
7. Import Hosted Exchange data from PST files into the new Exchange profiles

  • Renewal of Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server until EOL

    Hello,
We have a Open Value subscription for Forefront Protection for Exchange Server 2010 (FPE) running with an Exchange 2007 server and an Edge Server.  We attempted to renew the subscription to FPE and were automatically upgraded to FOPE and now EOP.
Since FPE is not End of Life yet, might it be possible to renew FPE on premises until such time as the product goes End of Life?
    thank you,
    Dan

    Hello,
FPE on premises was available only as a subscription license in OV, OVS. for subscription products thre is not possibility to renew th elicensing if is removed from product list.
you can purchase FOPE(in OVS) or EOP as online subscription. you can use also EOP for on premises Exchnage Server.
on Microsoft document we have th efollowing info:
The following are the primary ways you can use EOP for messaging protection:
In a standalone scenario   EOP provides cloud-based email protection for your "on-premises Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 environment, legacy Exchange Server versions,
or for any other on-premises SMTP email solution."
As a part of Microsoft Exchange Online   By default, EOP protects Microsoft Exchange Online cloud-hosted mailboxes.
In a hybrid deployment   EOP can be configured to protect your messaging environment and control mail routing when you have a mix of on-premises and cloud mailboxes.
note: EOP replaces Microsoft Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE). All FOPE customers will be transitioned to EOP, as described in the
Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) transition center. EOP delivers the protection and control provided by FOPE, and also includes additional features.
What's new in Exchange Online Protection describes some of these features.

  • Old exchange server 2007 accounts conflicting with Office365 accounts after migration to the cloud

    Good day,
We migrated over a month ago from Exchange 2007 to office 365
We have to offices in two different continents, under one single domain. Office in central America, has it's own IMAP web service hosted on 42inc (jondoe@ cenamer .com), Office in Europe (Profit Center) had it's mail services hosted on premise on exchange
    2007 server(username@ Europe .com).
Usually employees from Office central America used to visit our Europe office, and we used to make them different email accounts from their 42inc on our exchange 2007. Thus existing in our Global Address Book.
As we migrated, to office 365, everything falls under one entity, but office Central America didn't want to lose their Name of Recognition so they wanted to keep @cenamer.com emails, but since few people already had @Europe.com mailboxes present.
We made @cenamer.com as their primary accounts and after we joined some of the employees their existing exchange 2007 mailboxes, we deleted their @Europe.com mailboxes.
The issue is, in some of our other offices in Europe and Australia, still employees email the office of Central America employees at their old @Europe.com emails, so we added aliases to their @centamer.com as in if Alok Vyas has alok.vyas@ cenamer.com he
also have alok.vyas@ Europe.com , this way we avoid having assigning another license for his @Europe.com mailbox.
But that was unsuccessful, employees getting bounced emails saying such email doesn't exist. They still have in the Address Book the old exchange mailbox of Alok when he was visiting
    Please Help.

Tell them to change the address in their address book.
If you post an NDR, we might have a better clue as to what is happening.

    Hi,
we are currently utilizing a third party exchange 2013 cloud service to host user's mailboxes (  intermedia), now we implemented an exchange 2013 on-premises environment in Hyper V infrastructure and want to plan migration of mailboxes and related configuration.
cloud and on-premises environment have same SMTP domain ( Eg: XYZ.ORG) and currently an additional Temporary SMTP domain ( XYZ.CO ) used to test the external mailflow of on-premises since xyz.org is registered with cloud.
we need to migrate all mailboxes to on premises and enable XYZ.ORG for on-premises.
Pls suggest the prerequisites, steps, best practices for migration

  • The following error occured when searching for on-premises exchange server

I look after a company where I installed a new DELL server last year, The server is running Windows Small Business Server 2011 which we installed. Exchange 2010 was installed as part of the Windows Small Business Server 2011 installation. At the time we
did not configure Exchange because they use external POP accounts for email. Eventually they wanted to move over to Exchange
When we created the user accounts using Windows SBS Console, it created a local mailbox for each user
    No problems - [email protected]
Since late last year every time I create a new user within SBS Console, it errors creating the mailbox
Add a user account and assign a user role
Getting "Unexpected error occurred" when Setting up an e-mail account for user
Looking at the error "Unexpected error occurred" & MessagingManagement "Unexpected error occured"
The user account is created ok just no e-mail address is created for the user
I never thought much about this at the time as we weren't using Exchange email accounts. I decided to have a look at this issue over weekend
When I try to open Microsoft Exchange Management Console I'm getting "Initialization failed"
The following error occurred when searching for the On-Premises Exchange server
When I try to open Microsoft Exchange Management Shell, I get a similar error
I've download & run EMTShooter which just identifies there is an error & gives me the same error
    I've installed & re-installed WinRM IIS Extensions
I've checked all the settings in IIS, Default Web Site, PowerShell, Modules & Paths...
    Still cannot connect to Exchange
I've trawled through the internet for two days checking & testing every solution but no luck
I've checked every setting against another Windows SBS 2011 Server we've installed & works
    I cannot find a difference
Can someone help me or point me in the right direction?

Another thing I've noticed is that it always refers to the "remote server" this server is Windows SBS 2011, it's the Domain Controller, DHCP Server, DNS Server & Exchange Server all in the same box

I've added more detail about the error, this server is exactly how I initially installed it. This was a clean install not a migration so Exchange was a new installation. I have not applied any service packs as I did not want to confuse matters

  • Integrating Exchange Server in the cloud with Project / Sharepoint Server internal

    Hi,
I wonder how do I integrate service Exchange Server with Project Server 2010.
I have a Project Server 2010 you need to send emails with project updates and other integrations with Outlook.O standard procedure is to perform procedures (run commands in Exchange Server Shell) and create users in Project Server.
But I have a situation where my client uses a service exchange in the cloud and not a server for internal mail.
How do I integrate Project Server with Exchange this scenario where the mail server is an external service (cloud)?
I made the settings as the procedure () but got no success, no mail was received to be alert or reminder:
Below are the screens with the settings that were made.
    Crawl Resource Configuration (http://technet.microsoft.com/pt-br/library/ee806927(v=office.14).aspx)
    1) I Installed SMTP service on my server.
    2) I made the configuations above
    3) I configured the outgoing/Ingoing Setting in Sharepoint Central Administration

    Hi Marcelo,
Without providing the extended rights to project user, I dont think you will be able to successfully integrate project server with exchange cloud. Here is the technet article about how to integrate it with extended rights which needs running commands running
    on exchange server:

Your answer is incorrect for my question. The link you gave is for a implementation of 2 datacenters using Azure as the wittness server, and that is not possible because you can make only 1 site-to-site VPN connection to Azure and having 2 datacenters you
    would need 2 of them.
But my scenario is different, I have 1 datacenter and I want to use Azure as my 2nd datacenter for Exchange and for my witness server. I suppose that using the only 1 site-to site VPN that Azure provides is enough for that situation, but, the question is....
Is there any issue with that scenario? Did anyone try it?

  • Integrate On-Premises Exchange Server With Windows Server Essentials

I have Exchange Server 2013 installed on Win Server 2012 R2 joined to Windows Server Essentials domain.  Attempting to integrate the Exchange Server into the Essentials domain from the Essentials Dashboard using the wizard fails with the error, "Cannot
locate an Exchange Server on the network. Make sure that your Exchange Server is setup and that it is connected to the network".  I can communicate with the server in multiple ways from the Essentials Server and other computers on the domain.  Mail
flow in and out of the Exchange Server works without issue.  I can use the various management tools to administer the Exchange Server.  The only task I cannot complete is integrating it into the Essentials environment which I need to do to move on
to creating user mailboxes for user accounts setup in AD.
All research to date has come up empty handed.
    Help!

    Hi RSUL,
    Any update?
On current situation, would you please let me confirm something more? It may help me to understand this issue
    clearly.
Would you please let me know how join the Windows Server 2012 R2 (which had been installed Exchange Server 2013) to Windows Server Essentials domain? Did use Connector software
    (type http://servername/connect)?
On server essentials, please open Dashboard and navigate to DEVICES. Then check the Status of this server which had been installed Exchange Server 2013.
Currently, the Services Integration features, including on-premises Exchange integration, are only supported in a single domain controller environment. Meanwhile, the integration
wizard must be run on a domain controller.
In addition, please refer to the following article and check if can help you.

By the way, please check Event Viewer and some relevant logs if you can find some more clues.

  • What is required to integrate Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 (On premise) to SharePoint O365?

The client has his AD and Exchange 2010 on premise and would like to integrate with Office 365 SharePoint.
I know it is possible to integrate SharePoint On premise to Exchange Online but how possible and what is required to create it in the opposite way while using AD and Exchange On Premise to SharePoint Office 365?
    Thanks!

This is not possible. The only integration point for SharePoint Online is Exchange Online.

  • Mail stops downloading from exchange server. Renewal of account brings temporary relief only. Anyone know this? Any solution?

Mail worked properly, then some folders were invisible (sent mail) yet still visible on iPhone exchange account. Then download of inbox stopped in an endless waiting position with erratic messages about current activity. A rebuild of the account brought temporary relief, then the same thing started again. I have seen similar postings, is this a bug? Does anyone have a solution?

Since my uograde to Mavericks 10.9.3, mac mail is not allowing me to send large files with the same behavior described in thread by mikemachead original post here. I have tried the de selecting and selecting back the "store drafts in server" , rebooted multiple times, yet keeps asking me to select SMTP as the exchange server supposedly cannot send it. I have no limits set in the server(in fact I receive emails with large attachments) and had no issues up until the update. Anyone have suggestions as to how to fix it???

Forced "Outlook Anywhere" even when users were in internal LAN. The issue did not appear. This gave me the idea that since Outlook Anywhere is encrypted (HTTPS) connection there was no interference with
traffic between Outlook and Exchange. This tells me that some other network devices were interfering with this traffic.
In my case, it was WAN Acceleration (Riverbed). Riverbed did acknowledged this issue and pointed us to their KB article. Good luck convincing your network guys though. If HTTPS work, keep using it. It
will eventually irritate the network guys as they cannot compress encrypted traffic ( if you don't provide them the certificate).
I know this is shot in the dark as I don't know your network.
Exchange server reboot could be completely different issue. I have no idea why.
    I hope this helps.

  • Decommissioning Exchange Server 2007 after staged migration to Exchange Online

    Hi there,
I have recently migrated all our on-premise Exchange 2007 user mailboxes to Exchange Online/Office 365 using a staged migration running DIRSYNC (Windows Azure Directory Services Directory Synchronization Tool).  Now I would like to remove the old on-premise
Exchange server but I am not sure if that would break things.
Also with Disync enabled you cannot manage some mailbox properties in Exchange Online, it needs to be done with AD, right? If that is the case is it a good idea to have Exchange 2010/2013 Management Tools installed to manage the mailboxes?
    Thank you,
    Pieter

    Hello,
Windows Azure Directory Services Directory Synchronization Tool is used to synchronize on-premises directory objects(users, groups, contacts) to cloud. If you want to remove the old on-premise Exchange server, you need to make sure you have moved mailboxes
to o365 successfully, the mail flow is ok and the user can access their mailboxes.
Here is an article for your reference.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj898486(v=exchg.150).aspx
Not all operations for mailbox can be done via AD, so I recommend you install Exchange Management Tools to manage the mailboxes.
