Broadband not connected

I should have been connected on 15/3, then I was told it wasn't possible, then I was told it was and it would be 26/3. Since then I have spoken to quite a few people and spent about 3 hrs on the phone. Nobody can give me a date for connection or even explain what the problem is.
Is there anybody at BT who would like to take ownership of this issue and find an answer a little more helpful than 'we are  looking in to that'

If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.

  • Broadband not connected when computer starts up-re...

Hi - I would really appreciate some advice.....
I have just changed my computer, which now has Windows 7.  I have connected my BT Hub 1.5 up fine and the internet is connected, however, every time I turn on the computer it doesn't recognise the connection (even though all the lights on the Hub are green), and only does so after I re-boot my BT Hub.
I'm connected ok once I have re-booted the Hub, but I am frustrated as I don't want to have to keep re-booting my BT Hub every time I switch my computer on.  I never had this problem with my old computer (was running Windows XP), so can't understand why this is happening with this one?
Would appreicate any thoughts/advice on how to solve this!
    Many thanks

the recommendation on the forum is not to run the cd but to use it as a coaster, bird scarer, frisbee - you get the idea.  If it was me I would uninstal it and then let windows 7  wireless manager connect for you - it's more than capable

  • New Thinkpad W530 order direct from Lenovo with integrated mobile will not connect to broadband

I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.
The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.
Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.
Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Everything else works fine with the W530. I've owned ThinkPads exclusively since the first one ever came out. I've never not been able to connect to mobile broadband with any others. I also went through about two weeks of trying to connect with Lenovo Mobile Access and that did not work because I'm running Windows 8. Finally a nice gentleman called me from LMA to tell me it will not work after all the time of connecting and being on the road. I could go back to an old ThinkPad to travel with but I'm determined to get my new one to connect. Any more advice or anything anyone can tell me try?

I cannot access my Apple TV in WiFi mode. I have used it previously, but it keeps saying it is not connected to the network. My broadband is running. I was able to access Apple TV using an Ethernet cable. I have entered the wireless password as confirmed by my ISP without any success.

    Hi,
Thanks for trying to solve my problem. It appears that the password I was inserting was incorrect. I now have access.
    Thanks again.

  • Airport Express not connecting to Broadband router

    Dear Apple lovers,
I have been stuck with an issue for the past few weeks, and i hope that your experience can help me sort out the connectivity issues.
    Infrastructure:
Telco-provided Broadband modem router provides the internet connectivity. it connects to the house rooms thru data points.
I have an Extreme setup as a extender to the broadband router (becuase the rooms are far way from the broadband router, i have to do extend the wireless..)
The Extreme has been working fine for the past 2 years, even after the broadband modem router has been upgraded.
However, the Express started giving problems as soon as the broadband modem router was replaced.
I have tried resetting the Express many times, i've tried creating a new Network (they ask for PPOE settings which creates endless loops), creating it as an extender to the Broadband and even to the Extreme. So i've tried all options, and i'm not sure where to start looking for answers (searched this forum many times..)
Issue is that the Express is the furthest away from the Broadband, and if the room doors are closed, the Express has to rely on the Ethernet connection to the broadband for connectivity. Which makes me think that the right installation option to choose is " set up as an extender to Broadband modem" Is this correct?
With the doors closed, the express cant reach the extreme too (extreme is in another room).
I have an iMac, iPhone and iPod that has been suffering from no WiFi for the past month.. we're like in rehab for Internet addiction.. Hope there's a kind soul out there who can point out the right direction to follow (chose which option), or to diagnose the problem, and eventually solve it.
There's also intermittent issues with setting up the express, it just cant be configured. But it still blinks orange and green(sometimes). So i dont think the express needs to be changed..
Thanks in advance for the help  ( if any.. )
    Have a nice day!

I didn't understand how you had the setup and configuration.
You have a modem router combination device that is creating a wireless network, an AirPort Extreme that is extending the wireless network, and an AirPort Express that is also extending the network?

  • AOL Broadband, will connect to laptop, but not connect to internet explorer. WRT54GS v.6

I can connect to my wireless network via my laptop, but not to internet explorer. We have changed every setting imaginable and re-set the modem, router many times. We Ip configed, did ping tests, installed and re-installed the card in the laptop. Done all this 4 times with the tech support from Linksys. Finally, I realized it must the wireless router and/or modem configuration. (The laptop works on every other network in town except ours, and has not security settings enabled).
I have been on customer service calls for 2 weeks, with AOL and linksys and nothing seems to be helping me. I have 2 wireless routers (thought the first was bad, so bought another brand new), and just had a brand new modem installed. Basically, I have brand new equipment.
The laptop has no security settings and connect to any wireless network in town. It finds the connection to my WRT54GS v.6, but will not connect via internet explorer.
I want to uninstall and re-install the router. How do I uninstall the router? (I have instruction for re-installation). Also AOL rep told me, to make sure I configure the router to a certain port range. Any ideas as to how to do this?
Anyone have problems with AOL high speed and linksys router? Has the high speed cable cord coming out of the wall, not ethernet or DSL.
We have changed the settings in http://192.168.1.1 till I am blue in the face. None of the channels worked, security didn't work, adding the ip address manually to the laptop didn't work. I am getting no error messages. Am trying to get this wireless modem working because I need it. Should have come to this forum first!

hi..if you want to uninstall the router...the only thing you need to do is hold the reset button down for 30 seconds...
i m a bit confused here as to why the ISP techs asked you to forward ports on the router...port forwarding is needed for a specific application or a device that is behind the router....
the mentioned ports are for AOL messenger ( AIM )....and has nothing to do with the modem...anyways , let us work out together on this issue...carry out the steps i mention and you can revert back with the results and your success rate...
    1) connect the computer to the modem and check what ip address you have on the computer ??
    2) go to start -> control panel -> network connections ->
let me know what other icons you have besides Local Area Connection and Wireless Network Connection..
3)connect the computer to the router and the router to the modem...
access the router using http://192.168.1.1 .. let the internet connection type be on DHCP....check the ip address on the status page of the router ui...
    4) if it is 0.0.0.0 , go to setup tab and go to mac address clone subtab , enable it and hit clone..save the settings and do a power cycle...
    5) check whether you have the ip address...if you have the same ip as coming off of the modem..u should be online and if still 0.0.0.0 , then select PPPoE for the internet connection type and enter the username and password...check whether the ip address comes up....if still negative, ensure that the modem is in bridge mode...
6)if the ip address comes up as 192.168.1.x , change the local ip add of the router to 192.168.2.1 and do a power cycle..
let me know for any help !!!

  • Broadband meant to be Active but not connecting

Hello i hope someone can help.
I recently moved address and took my landline number and BT Account (inc BB) with me to my new address. This was at the beginning of September. I was told my phone would be connected on the 14th Sept with my BB being Active as of the 20th Sept. I received a text on the 20th saying my BB should now be available but it wasnt. I gave it a few days leway but still nothing.
On Friday 23rd i made a call to support who checked my landline for faults (i believe all was fine) and they advised someone from technical would call on Saturday to speak to me regarding the issue. I never received the call and we are still not connected to the internet 7 days later. Im getting absolutely nowhere with technical and for some reason they now want to send an engineer to the house even though all the lines in the house are fine.
The previous tenants also had a BT BB account which was working fine for them. They cancelled their BB in August so this shouldnt hold any bearing to this issue which tells me its something to do with the configuration at BT's end.
Here's what i have done so far to check for issues myself.
    1) Reset the router to default settings
    2) Checked that all laptops in the household are in the correct IP range for the router and that they can connect to the router (which they can)
    3) Checked all available phone sockets in the house with both the router and the house phone, house phone works fine in all sockets but BB will not connect
    4) Made sure we have microfilters in place
    5) Power cycled the router daily to check for a connection, still nothing
    6) Used the test connect on the router using "domain bt_test_user@startup_domain" as the username (as suggested in another post to check for activation), this did nothing which according to another user suggests were not activated yet.
The call centre operative i spoke to today wasnt much help at all, he simpy read the notes and bearly spoke to me, the customer service i received was terrible. As a result of this my son has lost a job as he was sent an email last week inviting him to an interview but couldnt receive it. Ive been paying for a service that ive not had for a month now, all in all it has caused a huge inconvenience, im having to go to a friends to make this post.
Please can someone help me get my BB working.
    Thanks

  • My Deskjet 3050 J610 will not connect to my Virgin WiFi router for use with Apple Mac laptop.

I live in the UK and have Broadband access via a Virgin connection and WiFi router. My Apple MacBook laptop connects to the WiFi with no difficulties. However I have an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer which will not connect to the router. When I try to connect, the blue light just keeps on flashing but a connection is not found. Consequently my MacBook cannot "see" the printer on the network. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • New Airport Express will not connect to internet

I am attempting to upgrade from an old Airport Base Station (the gum drop/flying saucer/mushroom model) to the new and improved mini tower model. I plugged the ethernet cable from the comcast cable modem in and nothing worked - no wireless, no internet, no nothing but flashing amber light. I was able to configure a new wireless network, and it shows up on MBPro running Maverick and iPad using Airport Utility as a functioning wireless network (with the green light on the AE), but it will not connect to the internet. Any suggestions?

The only step that appears to be missing is to reset your cable or DSL modem. Unplug it and let it rest a moment or two, then power it back up again: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2460
You've done everything right, but still can't connect to the Internet. Why?
It is likely that the modem locked onto your iMac, and it will ignore anything else you plug into it until the modem has been reset. If you were to plug the iMac back into the modem, it would still connect to the Internet.
Fortunately, resetting a broadband modem is usually very easy -- just unplug its power supply, wait a moment, and plug it back in. After its indicator lights have gone through their startup routine, you should do the same to the AirPort base station.
Odds are that you can connect to the Internet now.

Secure link to itunes store failed, (computer not connected to internet tried uninstalling everything to do with itunes,no joy also errror code E0000225 appearing. Have turned off windows firewall and also my Bullguarg security settings. Can anybody out there please help me thanks.

    Hi,
You could be right that the response to clicking on help is a symptom of an entirely separate issue, but nevertheless the secure link to itunes is definitely failed, and I am unable to log into Itunes on either PC.
I also noticed that even if I click on the link to create a whole new Apple ID, I cannot do that either, presumably because the secure link is not working.
After I noticed that there were weird things happening this morning, I did change my Apple ID password in the hope that this might resolve it, but it seemed to make it worse.  Now, all of my apple devices keep constantly prompting me for the apple ID password, and randomly either accepting it, or telling me it is wrong.  I know the password is correct because I can log onto the apple Manage My Apple ID screens in a web browser with it.
I was starting to think that this is an ISP issue (BT Broadband), but I have not seen anyone else posting with the same issue.  Does Apple use a different security protocol to everyone else?  I'm asking because all other secure services seem to be working fine, but anything related to apple that requires a secure connection or authentication is having issues.
I have also seen reference to making sure that Itunes is listed as an allowed program in Windows Firewall.  I cannot seem to do this because it says that my Windows firewall is being managed by McCafee.  I have checked the settings in McCafee, and it appears to me that Itunes, Bonjour, and many other apple programs have been granted "Full" access.  As said before in any case I have tried temporarily disabling the firewall and even this did not solve the problem.

  • K210 will not connect to secured network

My Lenovo K210 system running Vista will not connect to a secured wireless network.  I added a Tenda, and Netgear USB wifi stick as well as a Rosewell PCI card (removing each before proceeding to the next element.).  It will see the secured network, and will allow for input of the PSK key, but it will not connect saying "Windows cannot connec tto <SSID>" with "Diagnose the problem" or "connect to another network".  Diagnose the problem results the same.  I end up connecting to an unsecured router I have set up on an old broadband connection.  The PCI adapter will handle WEP, WPA and WPA2.
Is there something that could be changed to allow for connection to a secured network?
    Thank you,
    WIlliam

It sees the network, there is no error message just showing the circular emblem and not the check next to the network.  I do not know about other networks since I am at home and just started this morning.  I can connect to my MacBook Pro with Bluetooth.

  • "itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet" Help?

Hello all, new to the forums.
I've been recieving the error message "itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet". This problem didn't occur at all for the past 2 years of using itunes.
I've already scanned through numerous websites and forums for help, but none of them worked.
This  set of instructions resulted in no change to any of the problems, though iTunes lists that as the supposed solution.
    # Open Internet Options from control panel.
    # Click the Connections tab.
    # Click the LAN Settings button.
    # Select the Automatically detect settings checkbox.
Others include installing IE7, which that didn't work either.
    Can anyone help?

  • Switcher found "You are not connected to the Internet" message confusing

While demonstrating to my brother - a long-time Windows user - that an iMac solved all the problems with Windows XP that he is constantly complaining about to me, he saw Safari's "You are not connected to the Internet" message when the web server for the page didn't respond very quickly. (There wasn't any network problem, or anything wrong with Safari. MacOS or the iMac.) Clicking the 'Reload current page' button brought the web page up. He was angry, saying that the iMac was clearly connected to the Internet as he'd seen me plug in the network cable! He's using this as one of his reasons that "PCs are superior to Macs"!
While I think this is probably a bit of "I don't want to admit that I've been wrong" coming from him (his Windows system has been riddled with malware several times, despite him having kept up to date with Windows updates, using the Windows firewall, a broadband router with firewall, and having tried several anti-virus suites!), I must admit that he has a (limited!) point.
Couldn't the developers cause Safari to display the message "The web page you have requested is not immediately available, still trying - please wait." instead and then, if the web page cannot be displayed after (say) three minutes, and some kind of autromatic diagnostics show that the system still has a network connection, the message "That web page is apparently not available." Only if behind-the-scenes diagnostics show that the Mac has lost its network connection should one ever see the "You are not connected to the Internet" message, in my opinion.
    MacBook 1 etc   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I have the same problem; if I leave the computer on long enough (usually asleep overnight), when I wake it up, Safari will present the "You are not connected to the Internet" message for any page, and Mail will display the exclamation-point-in-a-triangle for all accounts that says it's offline. Yes, Software Update also complains of a "network problem."
Meanwhile, Firefox or SSH sessions via Terminal will work fine, and both network diagnostics and System Preferences claim that the machine is, indeed, connected just fine with an IP lease and everything. This is over a wired Ethernet connection, and, yes, I've tried swapping the cable between the Mac Pro's two jacks.
I'm a long-time Mac user. I've fixed disk permissions; I've flushed Safari's cache; I've done everything described here. Rebooting always fixes the problem -- but it then recurs when the machine has sat or slept for long enough.
Since Safari and Mail are both affected, while Firefox and shell connections are not, it seems fairly clear it must be a bug in some part of the OS relating to both those Internet products. It doesn't cripple the machine, but it's definitely inconvenient, which is not what I expect from Apple products.

  • Using 3G cricket broadband to connect Wii to internet??

I really don't know what I'm doing, can anyone offer any advice?
I'm trying to connect our Wii to the internet using my Cricket Broadband 3G USB modem, plugged into my MacBook. I've tried to create a network with internet on, and it won't work. Will not find the connection, even though the signal is full. The Wii can see my computer's network, but will not connect.
Is there something I'm missing, or doing wrong, or does anyone have any other way of doing this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Angelique

To gain Internet access for the MacBook Pro, you will either need your own Internet service provided by an ISP or access to another Wi-Fi network that has Internet service.
Your MBP has a built-in wireless adapter, called an AirPort Extreme Card. This adapter is able to connect to just about any Wi-Fi network available today.
If you opt to get your own Internet service, most ISPs will provide you as a minimum an Internet modem. Some also offer a wireless version of this device. For those that do not, you will also need an Internet router (wired or combination wired/wireless) in order for your MBP's wireless to connect.
