1.go to the HP official site to download the driver for XP
2.then use winzip to open the exe file and search the inf and sys files for your wireless card
3.copy the inf and sys files to a usb disk
4.go to Arch and mount the usb disk
5.change the dir to your inf and sys files location
6.ndiswrapper -i filename.inf
  ndiswrapper -m
  ndiswrapper -mi
  ndiswrapper -ma
7.reboot
8.done~

  • B43 won't recognise Broadcom 4312 wireless card

I've had a Dell XPS M1530 laptop for a few weeks now. It's got a Dell 1395 wireless card, which is actually a disguised Broadcom 4312 card.
    lspci recognises it as such:
    [sander@lappy686 ~]$ lspci | grep -i broadcom
    0b:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01)
The card works fine with the properietary broadcom-wl drivers. I'm using these right now, in fact.
However, I'd like to use b43 if at all possible, because:
    - b43 supports monitor mode;
    - broadcom-wl drivers are proprietary, whereas the b43 ones are open.
I have followed the guide on the wiki to extract the firmware from the proprietary drivers:
    [sander@lappy686 ~]$ sudo ls /lib/firmware/b43/
    a0g0bsinitvals4.fw a0g0initvals9.fw a0g1initvals5.fw b0g0bsinitvals9.fw lp0bsinitvals13.fw lp0initvals15.fw pcm5.fw ucode4.fw
    a0g0bsinitvals5.fw a0g1bsinitvals13.fw a0g1initvals9.fw b0g0initvals13.fw lp0bsinitvals14.fw n0absinitvals11.fw ucode11.fw ucode5.fw
    a0g0bsinitvals9.fw a0g1bsinitvals5.fw b0g0bsinitvals13.fw b0g0initvals4.fw lp0bsinitvals15.fw n0bsinitvals11.fw ucode13.fw ucode9.fw
    a0g0initvals4.fw a0g1bsinitvals9.fw b0g0bsinitvals4.fw b0g0initvals5.fw lp0initvals13.fw n0initvals11.fw ucode14.fw
    a0g0initvals5.fw a0g1initvals13.fw b0g0bsinitvals5.fw b0g0initvals9.fw lp0initvals14.fw pcm4.fw ucode15.fw
when I insert the b43 module (sudo modprobe b43), the following shows up in /var/log/everything.log:
    Nov 7 20:58:36 lappy686 Broadcom 43xx driver loaded [ Features: PMLR, Firmware-ID: FW13 ]
... and nothing more. I was told that this isn't normal
The actual problem is that no network interface shows up in ifconfig / iwconfig. The only ones that are there are lo and eth0 (wired ethernet). When I use broadcom-wl, the wireless interface shows up as "eth1".
I have also tried to extract the firmware from some older versions of the driver, but the same thing happens. What's curious is that it'll still say "Firmware-ID: FW13" in /var/log/everything.log...
So, anybody have any clues? I guess it's not that urgent, but it sucks that I have to use a  proprietary driver. The only other option I haven't tried is ndiswrapper, and frankly, I'm not sure I want to

    On my machine:
    lspci | grep -i broadcom
    03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX (rev 02)
0b:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01)
    dmesg | grep -i broadcom
    b43-phy0: Broadcom 4311 WLAN found
    Broadcom 43xx driver loaded [ Features: PMLR, Firmware-ID: FW13 ]
    grep MODULES /etc/rc.conf
    MODULES=(b43 !b44 !pcspkr !snd_pcsp)
I wanted to look at the MODULES section on your machine because, indeed, I was planning to suggest something along the lines of "b43 !wl". Now I suppose that it would not work (as you seem to have already tried it).

qHow do u get help from apple support with iChat? I was able to chat with support last week to solve my problem but now the same issue is back and I don't see the option to chat now?

For what it is worth I have noticed a similar issue from the iPad3 while at work and home. At work we have two Apple TV 3rd Generation installed and tied to our A/V system. I believe the issue has to do with a timeout on the broadcast saying "here I am" and allowing devices to connect.
    For example:
At work we have several Wi-Fi SSID being broadcast from Cisco APs. The only one we can use with the Apple TV is the one that uses a WEP since the others are either setup to be hidden, require web page authentication, or have a login requirement from employees. Essentially, what I believe the issue is that the Apple TV periodically broadcasts a message to other iOS devices that support Mirroring. When the Apple TV does not get a response from a device it goes into a dormant mode and requires either a command from the remote control or a reboot. This has been tested with both the power management enabled and not enabled with the same results.
As for when I come home, the Apple TV3 has not seen the device in some time and therefore is not broadcasting it's location information. A simple click of the circle or menu keys on the remote will give it the command to start broadcasting again and allow the iPad3 to see the Apple TV. When trying to Home Share the computer can not play (iTunes 11, Win8RTM) until the Apple TV is awoken then it will show up for mirroing.
This may or may not assist you but, it hopefully explains how the issue may be happening.

Hey my iphone is not synching with itune, how can i solve this problem?

It can sync with a 32-bit, so long as you have the correct version of iTunes installed. I'm assuming that you are referring to a Windows based computer, so check out this support document regarding the device not being recognized by Windows. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

This response is a little late as I just read about your problem. I have a 2012 Dodge Charger and a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country and both worked flawlessly with the iPhone 5s my wife and I had. However, we just upgraded to the iPhone 6 and Uconnect will receive calls but you cannot answer them. You can callout successfully, however. the annoyance being the inability to answer incoming calls in the HandsFree mode.

You are welcome and I share your problems in debugging such errors.
By the way though: In Archlinux there is a section "AUR", which contains packages not in the official repositories, but provided by users for a million reasons. If you go to:
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php? … _Search=Go
you will find that different viewers are available there in 32/64 bit stable versions. Plus someone will have taken the time to sort out any specific problems to compile them with an Arch system and probably update them. Maybe you want to go there and use one of those.

  • Can't log in with newly created user on new install of Arch [solved]

    Hi all,
Yesterday I installed Arch anew (because I had a hardware failure that took out my hard drive), but now I'm encountering an issue with logging in.
After following the installation guide, and creating a new user, I find that I'm unable to log in as said user.
It complains about wrong password, but it's the exact same password that I entered mere moments before that, when creating the new user.
I can "log in" as said user by first logging in as root (which does work) and doing "su - <username>" (though then it doesn't ask for a password).
Can someone point me in the right direction to fix this problem?

I think cfr meant to say you shouldn't "fix" bash path - as some users did. Unfortunately there's a bit confusion wrt which paths should be used - see this ML thread.
Some say we should keep /bin/foo for compatibility, others say that we should boldly move to /usr/bin/foo.

  • Update Arch-0.7.1 with install CD from Arch-0.7.2 [SOLVED]

    Hi all!
I use Archlinux for 5 months. I am happy with Arch even if I can't use all advantages.
Because I can't get a fast Internet connection like DSL.
So I'm running Archlinux 0.7.1 downloaded arch-0.7.2.iso and burn it on cd.  I copied all packages from 0.7.2 into /home/bad/archnew
    My pacman.conf changed to:
    # An example of a custom package repository. See the pacman manpage for
    # tips on creating your own repositories.
    [custom]
    Server = file:///home/bad/archnew/
Than I type in my console: pacman -Sy custom
But pacman wants to connect the internet.
Than I type pacman -Su custom
But pacman wants to connect again.
Is it possible to update Archlinux 0.7.1 this way?
    And how?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Broadcom 4312 - Fun with drivers

Hello, after doing research for about 3h I'm little sick and thought I'll ask for help of some people better suited in the topic than me
So, the thing is that I can get wifi in my laptop on B4312 card with the Broadcom driver - broadcom-wl but apparently it doesn't like kernel 3.7.7 - the one I'm using, and it's causing kernel panic, so I need a new solution for getting wifi, which is pretty essential for me, I hate cables with all my heart.
I tried to get b43 to work, after checking the compatibility list on their site (where my card is listed as compatible -but only says 2.6+, which I think is a little outdated...), and it doesn't like my laptop either, I installed b43-fwcutter and downloaded and made pkg for the firmware, card shows just fine in iwconfig / ip link but when I connect with wifi-menu to my network it works for about 15 seconds and disconnects.
Any ideas of getting it to work?
    Thanks in advance

  • [SOLVED] Broadcom BCM4313 with NetworkManager - no vissible networks

Hi. I have a Samsung N150 Plus netbook. Because i have the "plus" version i also got broadcom wifi card, which, as said on the wiki, have issues with default kernel driver. So, installed broadcom-wl from AUR, added "wl !brcm80211 !mac80211 !cfg80211" to modules, and the i installed networkmanager, and added it to the daemons, disabling network by the way. So, after restart it seems ok, ifconfig and iwconfig shows right values, cable network is working but i can't see any networks in network manager applet, it's just saying disconnected. So, how can i make it running?
Last edited by Zuba (2011-04-14 14:49:59)

I know NetworkManager from ubuntu, and i like it because i can connect to a network with two clicks, so i would like to stay with it.
    @EDIT
Fixed it Had to install samsung-tools from AUR, and it's working now. Backlight fn keys are working also

Since I have 2 gfx cards the card info is:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF114 [GeForce GTX 560 Ti] (rev a1)
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF114 [GeForce GTX 560 Ti] (rev a1)
Since I am using 2 different cards I am supposed to add:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Driver "nvidia"
    BusID "PCI:02:00.0"
    EndSection
    Section "Device"

I am not clear on how to merge these two snippets together properly...
To be honest I am somewhat confused about this whole process... If anyone has a more clear link or can explain the steps better to me I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe I just have to read through it a few more times. Thanks in advance.

  • Dual boot with WinXp and Arch-Solved

    Hi friends,
I was using windows boot loader to boot into arch instead of grub. I used this:
    dd if=/dev/hda7 of=arch.lnx bs=512 count=1
to get the first 512 bytes of the partition in which I installed arch and then added a line directing towards arch.lnx (moved to windows partition) in boot.ini. But now after reinstalling arch, when i do the same to get first 512 bytes of the partition, it generates a blank file and hence using that I'm not able to boot into arch. Grub is installed in this partition only. Any hints about this issue.
EDIT: I dont know what was the problem exactly, but after I reinstalled grub by "grub-install /dev/hda7" and then did the above command, it worked fine.

moderator comment: This is a question on Kubuntu installation but it seems to me OP specifically wants to know how to set up his partitions without harming Arch. As long as the discussion remains about Arch Linux this thread can stay. I'm going to have to move this from Installation to Newbie Corner.
Annorax wrote:I assure you that I am doing my own research. I am new to Linux and new to dual booting and was just looking for some pointers and a place to start reading.
Please see this. I advise you to read the links 2ManyDogs gave. You also need to give us more information about your partitions, such as what is mounted where. I suspect you only have primary partitions and will need to convert one into an extended partition.

  • EVIL BROADCOM 4312 - help plz

    PLEASE CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!
Its currently 22:00 where I am and the first day of school is tomorrow. My goal today was to build arch from the ground up for my netbook (compaq mini 110c-1100ca). I can tell you I built one hell of a monster(the gui is amazingly awesome) but no matter what I do it seems impossible to get the wifi working.
now unlike most newbies Ive looked around, in fact I've looked around for the last 5 hours on how to get this thing working and nothing seems to be helping. I've determined that my card is not supported by the b43 driver and after visiting about 10 different wiki pages and 3 different threads on the arch forums NOTHING is working!
can somebody send me to a tutorial that is 100% newbie friendly because I have some experience in linux and every tutorial so far has failed and not made sense.

on a side note, vlc media player does 720p anime on my netbook now... something that no other linux distro has done before!

I apologize, I didn't realize the lack of information.
for starters its a built in wifi on my Compaq mini 110c-1100ca netbook (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docu … ct=4051142)
